HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/01/2014 18:33

toby how you getting on? Oh, and have meant to ask for ages how's the leg?

MrsV now I cannot remember what I was going to say...

Argh preggo brain fail.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/01/2014 18:36

That was it. MrsV so glad BP is okay, phew.

Frizz go Aurelia! Skillz!

Felix I'm sure they will sort it out, or you can ignore the flapping...

another bless little Mason, and well done on getting out and about after major surgery!

I too am having irregular contractions, no more than three or four a day, phoned birth centre and spoke to the nicest mw, who said 'it's all part of the fun of getting ready for labour, my love'!

TobyLerone · 07/01/2014 19:29

Contractions are getting quite painful now, and 5 mins or so apart. But I wouldn't be surprised if they stop again soon. It's quite frustrating!

The leg is pretty much fully healed, thanks for asking, Humpty :) Scarred, but better!

TarkaTheOtter · 07/01/2014 19:34

Good luck toby

BookTart · 07/01/2014 19:39

My fingers are crossed for you toby!

MrsVDB · 07/01/2014 19:51

toby I was thinking about your leg earlier (not as creepy as it sounds ha ha) glad it's better. Would be awful in labour otherwise. Good luck :)

enjoyingscience · 07/01/2014 19:53

Yay Toby!

Looks like the gunk this morning might have been 'something' after all. Contracting about one in ten at the minute, and it hurts like a motherfucker. I'm sure it hurt less last time!

MrsVDB · 07/01/2014 20:14

Ooh good luck as well enjoying

So although mw said everything was fine earlier my face is pretty swollen so I called triage to check if its ok as already been checked today and she told me to go back in as didn't get bloods done earlier. Feel like I'm worrying for nothing. Have any of you had swollen face? I've got super crows feet when I smile and my face looks ridiculous

AnotherStitchInTime · 07/01/2014 20:29

Ooh maybe both of you will give birth soon toby and enjoying, I hope you will both be cuddling squishy newborns soon x

MrsV, hope you are ok and they are looking after you.

TobyLerone · 07/01/2014 20:57

I bet you beat me, enjoying!

flyawayblue · 07/01/2014 21:32

Good luck enjoying and toby hopefully you will both have your babies tonight / tomorrow.

MrsV hope you get seen soon and they look after you, I think swollen face is one of the pre e signs so best to get checked.

Nothing to report here, still sore but no more sharp pelvis pains or tightenings. Almost constant tight bump though, starting to forget what it feels like untight! Thought I might be slowly loosing waters this morning but must just be extra pregnajuice as stopped now. 39 weeks tomorrow and don't think I can do another 3 weeks of this..

fryingpantoface · 07/01/2014 22:08

Good luck enjoying and toby

I'm still here. Second pessary went in, been contracting every 2-3 mins since 3.30am, apparently they are pessary pains. I'm in so much pain i cried. At 2 the baby was at -3 and i was only two cm dilated

since 4 I've been totally mobile, except for 90 mins where i desperately tried to nap between contractions. It didn't work.

i cant have any more codiene until midnight. They aren't due to check me until 3am. I cant make it that long.

this is the worst experience of my life

BuntCadger · 07/01/2014 22:20

Sad Sad oh frying, you poor woman. It sounds horrendous, they need to manage the pain better for you. is this your first? sending hugs and I hope you are enjoying newborn smuggles very soon x

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/01/2014 22:33

frying you poor darling, that sounds grim. Do you have or can you use a TENS or birth pool? Something pain relieving that isn't pharmaceutical. I really feel for you.

toby and enjoying it's a RACE!! Heh, good luck both of you. Glad the leg is healing, toby, would be no fun now otherwise.

MrsV oh no! poor you too! We are all suffering tonight.

I have the squits, have had them all day. Secretly hoping it's the fabled 'clear out' but suspect it's just the squits. Angry

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2014 22:41

Oh frying I was wondering how you were getting on. Sorry that it's not going so well. I hope it gets easier for you

Toothfairy78 · 07/01/2014 22:54

Good luck frying, enjoying and toby xxx

MrsV hoping you're Ok xxx

humpty hoping things settle out one way or the other or you. Uncertainty sucks. Xxx

Karen seems to cluster feeding tonight. I might struggle to keep up!

AnotherStitchInTime · 07/01/2014 22:56

Oh frying, you know if you are in that much pain you can demand they check you sooner. When I was on antenatal ward there was a lady who was 2cm at 1am, by 4am she was in excruciating pain when they checked she was 8cm, they rushed her upstairs and her daughter was born 1/2 an hour later. First baby. At my hospital they could give you pethidine on the antenatal ward, I had it with my first, it does make you a bit spacy, but I managed to sleep a bit on it while things progressed.

chocoloulou34 · 07/01/2014 23:12

Hi guys sorry ive been away for so long. I still need to catch up with u all and see whats going on with u. Had a quick read of last few posts and see its all happening for frying and toby so good luck to you both.
frying please dont stay in that much pain. I know exactly what you are going through. Keep on and in for pain relief. There are different things they can give you. Really feel for you. Dont like to think of anyone having the horrendous labour I had.

Ok so my birth story. As you know was induced on fri morning by pessary. No contractions til sat morning and they were so mild I barely felt them. They were in my back. Got to aboit 1pm and suddenly they rly took hold. They were coming every 2 and a half mins lasting 45 secs and were so painful. I just had gas and air for a few hours and at about 4pm they checked me and was only 3cm. Even midwife was shocked. Next thing I knew they were coming every min and a half I was barely getting 30 secs break and they were so painful I was literally screaming for pain relief. They gave me pethidine which did bugger all. I felt no relief whatsoever. They managed to break my waters but then got worried as baby was showing signs of distress as my contractions were too close together. They gave me an injection to try help stop them being so close together but it didnt work. They put a clip on babys head to monitor him better and showed he was ok. So im begging for an epidural at this point. Anaesthetist finally got there at about 4.45 started to prep me then i got urge to push. Midwife checked me again and I was somehow 10cm. So he couldn't do epidural. I think I screamed at him to not dare leave the room lol. I kept yelling at everyone telling them I couldn't cope anymore and was refusing to have baby without epidural. Hmm well my body had other ideas and pushing just took over. It all happened v quick but I tore perineum badly. Weirdest feeling ever pushing him out. My body was just so knackered from the painful constant contractions. I had epidural with dd 6 years ago so had no idea what all this felt like lol. Sorry to give a horrible painful birth story but it just was. But now i have a gorgeous baby boy that makes it all worth it so I know in time I will forget the bad stuff. I hope ive not scared anyone whos not had there baby yet and was told what happened to me is rare as contractions usually build up nice and slow as u dilate. Im just awkward arent I lol. Gotta wait couple of weeks to get appointment for kidney stone probs etc. Gotta get over birth pains first to establish where I still have pains. Am v crampy in belly and back and no idea if it's normal after birth pains or all linked with kidneys. Wont even go there with how I feel down below at the moment lol. Hoping thats normal too. Gonna feed sebastian and have a catch up on here now. Sorry for super long post...

Felix90 · 07/01/2014 23:30

Wow Choco that sounds intense! You did so well! Also I love the name Sebastian, it was our top choice if we were having a boy Smile wishing you a speedy recovery!

Frizz1986 · 08/01/2014 00:03

frying that sounds awful. If u are in that much pain def get them to start checking u sooner. There is no way they should be leaving you in that state. Hope things progress much faster now and fx for bubs arrival soon.

Wow choco what an experience. At least it's over now and you are both safe and well. I had a 3rd degree tear and it all feels a bit strange. They stitched me up real neat and I actually checked it out in the mirror and it isn't horrific.
I found that it was rather uncomfortable sitting down so got a kids swimming ring to sit on which has really helped. Although my meds have now run out so the area is rather achey and sore when I wipe (well dab)
First bowel was fine though. As long as you are taking your laxative stuff. I was terrified of it but it didn't hurt a bit. I now get random 'heavy' feelings down below but that might be from the grazes at the front of my foof.
I shower the area every day and dab dry. Also making sure I do my pelvic floor (hoped I had got rid of them) so there is no lasting damage. Being in the car is tough and can't walk too far before I get achey and uncomfortable.
Have got an app with women's physio in feb (6 weeks ish) so they can check all ok.

Bluecarrot · 08/01/2014 00:08

frying what are you doing when contractions come?

Are you in a private room? Are you on a drip?

Some ideas in case your mins goes blank like mine does!
Stamping your feet or clapping hands during pains. Gives your adrenaline and brain something to think about.
Be vocal if you feel it. Sing, growl, hum... Shout?!
Cursing is supposed to release soothing hormones.. Not sure if its true but worth a try?!
Shower with warm water aimed at your lower back
Gym ball

  • kinda go on all fours, with top half leaning on it you might be able to rock your hips a bit
  • put it against the wall and kneel down to a squat
  • sit in it and roll your hips in a figure of 8 or large circle.
Do you have any meditation music? If you have unlimited data, try youtube for some. Might help you feel rested if not able to sleep.
BuntCadger · 08/01/2014 00:10

frying - I just wanted to second what others have said about being checked. With dd (3rd baby) they said I was only 2 cm and the pain was so intense. I was put on non labour ward and basically force to have pethidine as only option (it made me sick) less than 2 hours later they finally checked me and I was 9cm and was rushed to delivery and had her within 15 min and only after a few pushes (birth story on here somewhere I was mamamaiasaura then). so Angry they aren't managing your pain relief as it's when we are at our most vulnerable xx

fryingpantoface · 08/01/2014 01:13

Thanks ladies!

well, at about 11.30 i decided to try and sleep. So i lay down (v painful, feels like I'm sitting on mu baby) and put my headphones in and just listened to music. Every contraction i fought the fight or flight reflex and tried to relax, but saying in my head while deep breathing "reee-laaax". So I've managed to get an hour.

been to the toilet and there is more of the mucous plug. Theyve offered me more codiene, but as I'm going to get my waters broken soon (hopefully), then i would rather wait.

mw said she will do an internal when she removes the pessary, then will call the delivery suite. As soon as they have room (hopefully tonight) they will move me down there and break my waters. As soon as I'm on the move i can call dh and have him with me.

the bugger will be if i cant move until the morning. So I'm hoping for the best.

mw has just been and said she wants to monitor me first, before removing the pessary, to see what's going on with the contractions. Sadly my cntxns always seem to slow down while being monitored.

I'm on a room with 3 other women. Two have GD so are also being induced, the other isn't due until March but has a severe kidney infection so is in overnight.

as my bishop's score was 6 24 hours ago it should definitely be a 7 now meaning that progress can be made.

sorry about the massive update! I'll let you known what happens after the pessery removal!

enjoyingscience · 08/01/2014 02:40

It's been a busy night here! Baby boy born at home, delivered by DP at 9:14. Ambulance service through the door at 9:17, midwife at half past!

He is ace, and has been feeding for hours. Will not be put down. Will try and update more coherently soon.

fryingpantoface · 08/01/2014 02:41

I'm 3cm bulging waters and good to get them burst.

mw is calling delivery suite to see if they want me now. She thinks they will because there is another 15(!) inductions tomorrow and if they make me wait there could be a massive backlog.

I'm having strong actual contractions every ten mins and the pessary was pretty much hanging out thanks to the bloody show! So for the last hour at least it must have been me doing the contractions, not the pessary
