toby keep us updated!

nature I found it v bizarre tbh as I'm not really used to people saying actually its ok to question your dr. We talked about educating yourself so you can make the most informed choices (and dr more likely to listen if you can make an informed argument - which I believe is why I managed to get out of induction last night) And always asking yourself "are they doing this to keep me on their schedule, or for the benefit of me and my baby?" If you don't feel you know enough to make a decision on the spot, ask if you can have ten mins to think about it. Except in v rare circumstances, eg emergency section, there will always db time to mull it over /google it.

Also those of us who had given birth previously told our stories and what fears from that that we carried forward to this birth.

It was all women at our group and run by two doulas.

fryingpantoface · 07/01/2014 10:53

Oo toby good luck!

TobyLerone · 07/01/2014 10:58

Just a quick update. They told me to go in, monitored me, we paced the corridors for a while but contractions have basically stopped. So we've come home to wait it out. I've to go in in the morning for augmentation unless anything happens in the meantime.

And there was me all excited because I was finally going to have a non-induced birth and it's still likely to happen!

Toothfairy78 · 07/01/2014 11:03

Ooh, good luck toby!

Hello enjoying !

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/01/2014 11:19

Oh toby what a pain. Curry for dinner? Walks? Anything we can do to cheer you up?

Slight rant: I posted a 'congrats' message on a friend's Fb photo of her new daughter. We share a first name.
One of the people I am 'friends' with for work (cannot defriend) took this to mean we had news and posted a congrats message to my wall.
Cue much confused back and forth.

FFS why are people incapable of reading properly. And why would we announce it by posting a photo (but not as ourselves) and commenting on it. USE YOUR FECKING BRAINS people.
I have now locked my Facebook wall, so that idiots cannot post on it. Considering taking down profile as well - so irritating.

Frizz1986 · 07/01/2014 11:26

toby get climbing the stairs as apparently that helps labour if your body is ready to go. Might help those contractions return.
Its all so exciting isnt it.

Just waiting for the midwife this end but have had some really sharp side boob pains after feeding. Have discovered i really need to get myself some clothes for nursing in as atm its just jeans and then i have to practically strip up top for boob access. Got a friend visiting thurs pm and another one on sat. Need to get my confidence to feed in front of them in preparation for public. Aurelia still seems to wiggle like anything when i try and feed her (her mouth is all over the place) and she then sticks her hands in her mouth instead of me lol.

TobyLerone · 07/01/2014 11:40

It's too cold and crap outside for walking, sadly. I've been pottering at home and bouncing on my ball and there are definitely painful contractions, but they're not settling into anything yet. I'd like it to be today because tomorrow is my mum's birthday. And DH's driving test. So quite a busy one!

I saw that on FB, Humpty. At first I was like "surely she didn't have the baby in the hour since she posted on the thread?!". Then I realised.

My mum has told everyone that my 'situation' is to stay OFF facebook.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/01/2014 11:49

Hi enjoying glad you have interwebz back!

toby yeah, I suspect it may take more than an hour... I wish when I started that job I'd bothered to set up a separate Fb profile for work only, then the idiots would at least be contained.

Bouncing sounds great, although painful contractions less so. Hope they settle into a pattern soon, although don't forget Frizz with her totally random ctx, it might not be as bad as you think!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 07/01/2014 11:50

And frizz you def need some nursing clothes! Shopping time!

Frizz1986 · 07/01/2014 12:00

Most definitely humpty I like to think that my experience of random contractions followed by waters breaking and then 1hr 50mins until baby arrived as a ray of light and inspiration to all those babies still inside that they don't have to wait for regular contractions, they can start moving with all the rubbish painful random ones to save us time!

Angelesque · 07/01/2014 12:02

On nursing, I've bought myself one of these:

mamamoosh.co.uk/collections/milkscarf

I like the idea that you wear it as a normal looking scarf until action stations! Don't know if it works in practise yet obvs as baby isn't here yet! Wink

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2014 12:50

That's frustrating toby but hopefully they will ramp up again soon.

I do not know what is wrong with me at the moment. Took the dog for a walk and just woken up as I fell asleep on the sofa for two hours! How can I be so tired!!

Thanks for the info blue it sounds very similar to things we discussed at my hypnobirthing classes.

At least it's started toby shouldn't be long now :)

So I've just got home from hospital, blood pressure lower midwife not worried so no bloods taken. Monitoring took longer than expected as couldn't get heart trace so had a quick scan. All fine :) wish the midwife yesterday hadn't panicked me so much. Thanks everyone for reassuring me :)

Frizz1986 · 07/01/2014 12:56

Oooo another one of my nct girls had her baby this morning! A little girl. Just waiting for details.
So out of 7 ladies in the group, we have had....
1 planned cs (a boy)
1 natural labour but a few days overdue (a boy)
1 natural early labour at 36 weeks (a girl)
1 natural labour at 37 weeks (me - a girl) and then this one (a girl)
Not sure about the labour but she is maybe 38 weeks.

1 was 40 weeks on sunday and nothing yet and 1 is due on 23rd Jan.
All the births have been out of order as well so who knows which of the 2 left will be next!

Toothfairy78 · 07/01/2014 15:16

frizz that sounds like my NCT group.

6 out of 8 delivered so far.

2 early c-sections
2 induced because waaaay overdue (1 had forceps + episiotomy)
1 induced 4 weeks early
1 forceps + episiotomy at 39+2 (that's us!)
1 due roundabout now
1 1 due 20th Jan.

All babies born in a totally shuffled up order, none on their due date!

Frizz1986 · 07/01/2014 15:52

Aurelia is back to her birth weight!!

AnotherStitchInTime · 07/01/2014 15:54

Very exciting toby, FWIW my contractions with dd2 were irregular right up until I was pushing. Hope it all kicks off again later for you.

frying hopefully tonight is your night too x

Been adventurous today and went with dd2 and DH to local playgroup, bit tired now so resting in bed. Midwife came, but didn't sign us off as Mason still has a touch of jaundice, not uncommon for prem babies to take longer to get rid of the bilirubin apparently. If it hasn't cleared by next week we will be referred to a special clinic.

AnotherStitchInTime · 07/01/2014 15:55

Well done frizz, bet you are relieved!

Frizz1986 · 07/01/2014 15:57

another we have been referred to jaundice clinic here as well just for them to monitor. The midwife said that prob by the time the appointment comes through she will have got rid of it anyway,
She is back to her birthweight though (put on 210g since thursday) so they have passed us over to health visitor but can call them if we need anything.

Felix90 · 07/01/2014 16:06

That's brilliant frizz I'm so pleased for you! I had the HV round today who said I shouldn't have been discharged by the MW as Sylvie isn't back to her birth weight yet Sad very odd, I dunno why she would discharge us if she's not meant to yet?!

Frizz1986 · 07/01/2014 16:26

It's weird isn't it. I had a phone call from the HV yesterday to book an appointment for Thursday (this week) even though I hadn't had my final mw app or been signed over.
I bet the HV will tell us she is putting on too much weight lol. Think I can relax my feeding schedule a bit now as she doesn't need to be putting on 40g a day! Hopefully the next bit will be a bit less stressful.

AnotherStitchInTime · 07/01/2014 16:46

I bumped into my HV at playgroup today. She wanted to see me tomorrow, but I have a GP appt. Now booked in to see her next Wednesday as she said she is not worried about me as I am "the queen of breastfeeding" Grin

Mythreeknights · 07/01/2014 17:46

Argh toby I feel your pain! Well, not quite as I've not had as many contractions, but over the last week certainly I've had moments (one or two hours at a time) of pretty increasingly painful BHs...and then nothing. Last night I woke up with a mega contraction and....then nothing. Nothing all day. Nothing now. No show. Waters intact. 39 weeks on Thursday and counting. My other 2 were early so that's why I'm 'expecting' this one to come early too. Really hope things ramp up soon and efficiently for you.

Bluecarrot · 07/01/2014 18:21

For nursing clothes I have a few button down shirts, plus I made a few tops like these www.babybellykelli.com/diy-nursing-tankcami-in-under-10-mins/

Ill prob use the sling when I'm out and about as extra coverage!
