Band my grandad asked if I was having twins when he saw the size of my bump so I would take yours as a compliment Smile

toby I was just thinking the same thing, as alarm goes off in 1hr 10 here. Although it is only for Dh so hoping I can snooze for a bit afterwards. But I am determined I will go and order my curtains today and pop to the shops for storage baskets as an excuse to get a nice coffee so I can finish our room, so can't lie in for too long!

band definitely don't worry too much about labour. You really do forget any negatives so quickly. My labour did really hurt but despite swearing I "didn't want a baby anyway" Blush all was forgotten the instant Nour emerged and I am so enjoying squishy snuggles. It was completely worth every second of pain and I would do it all again right now if I had to, and I am not only a wimp but incredibly lazy too.

BandontheFun · 06/01/2014 05:17

Hee hee Nature old people just lack a filter. He also told me when I seen him, You have got better looking, probably true hadn't seen him in like 8 years, but still u can think it don't say it out loud.

Toby Nature what's with the alarms?! Crazy! Mines has been off since I stopped for maternity. Not stopped me waking at 7 but still.

TobyLerone · 06/01/2014 05:20

Hope you can get back to sleep, nature. Sadly the alarm is for me, as I take DH to the station every morning. So no such luck here!

Housework for me today, but it'll be easy as I did it all so thoroughly last week. Also got to make some pastry for dinner tonight. And maybe have a little sleep... Wink

BandontheFun · 06/01/2014 05:21

Altered that really is good to know. :)

I want my squishy snuggles soon. If anything just so I have a reason to be awake at 5am!

alteredimages · 06/01/2014 05:31

I always sleep right before the alarm too Toby. So infuriating. DH also developed a delightful habit if phoning and waking me up every time I managed to take a nap and I could never get back to sleep.Angry

All is well here. Mum has arrived for a quick visit and DD is being spoiled rotten, which is making life easier for us. When they arrived from the airport DD bounded right up to a sleeping Nour and said "Look, granny, it's my baby!". She has also been attacking DH every time he pretends to eat the baby and tying his hands behind his back with her scarf as punishment. I am so relieved as I was sure she was going to hate him!

TobyLerone · 06/01/2014 05:34

That's so cute! :o

Naturegirl82 · 06/01/2014 05:58

Luckily I just have to make sure Dh gets up. Honestly he could sleep through anything. Even if he sets his alarm and leaves it right by his head I still have to wake him to turn it off and he always sets his way to early to get bonus sleep which pees me right off so at least if it's my alarm I'm in control. I wonder if it is actually worth trying to sleep now until after Dh has left for work. I could have tea and toast and pooch snuggles in bed instead Grin

Ah bless altered glad your dd has adapted to the change well. I think I'm almost ready for squishy cuddles. I still don't think it has fully dawned on me that a) I have to go through labour and b) I'm going to have a baby!

Good morning ladies,

Been up most of last night as both Karen and I had a runny tummy. Poor little bear! She's sleeping nicely now.

So, holy moley paper! Congratulations on the birth of your son! He's a big 'un! Wishing you a nice speedy recovery and hope his blood sugars are easy to fix.

FX for frying.

And what happened to sultana?

fryingpantoface · 06/01/2014 08:12

Morning!

altered - your daughter sounds so cute!
nature - deffo take it easy today! You too toby!

well i had a broken nights sleep. I've got pain in my hips across the small of my back and my belly has been tight all night, so things are deffo happening. The Dr who saw me initially thought it would take two pessaries, but the midwife thought last night it would only need one.

I'm wondering how people get dressed etc here. If visitors are allowed in at eight, the showers are across the hall, so its shower and change in the bathroom then back to the cubicle?

Frizz1986 · 06/01/2014 08:37

frying the joys of hospital. Do you have a curtain to pull round the bed? I showered (had to go across the hall as our shower wasn't working) and then pulled the curtain round to change.
Hope things go speedy for you.

Sorry to those suffering sleep wise. Aurelia woke up 3 times in the night to feed so she is doing quite well. Wont know the weight gain until mw visits tomorrow, but am really hoping she is still going up nicely.

Well its my first ever day flying solo as a mum today. Dh is starting his new job so its just me, pooch and bubs! OMG its scary.
Have fed her and am going to have some toast before changing her. Bathroom has been cleaned (a half hearted, wipe around sort of clean) and towels are in the wash.
Have made a list of what to do each day so i have an idea of things until i get into a routine. Plan to do housework while she sleeps in the morning and snooze when she does in the afternoon.
Just hope dh has a fab first day!

fryingpantoface · 06/01/2014 08:57

Good luck today felix! Don't put too much pressure on yourself to clean etc. I did with ds and I'm convinced it contributed towards my pnd, not that I'm saying you'll get it. I just wish someone had said "you know, just because dh has gone to work, doesn't mean you have to do everything".

i do have curtains! Yey!

I'm hooked up to a monitor which is picking up regular contractions, lasting about a min each time apparently (from my not trained gazing) measuring about 84%. When the mw comes back I'll ask her about it

MrsVDB · 06/01/2014 09:03

Good luck mrfrizz and also frying

So far today I've had breakfast, read the metro (dh is bringing them home for me so I keep in touch with the world, even if it was Fridays news!), made carrot and coriander soup, sorted some paperwork and painted some woodwork. God 38w (omg that can't be right?!) mw appointment this morning and hoping we discuss birth plans as although I know they're not worth much I'd at least like to discuss my options :)

HabitualHobbyist · 06/01/2014 09:07

Well this maternity leave malarkey is harder than I thought. Baby hasn't even arrived and I've barely had a moment to myself.

Just have to share my morning so far as pregnancy rage is starting to decend... I hope it's not the sign of things to come. Up nice and early as nursery furniture due to be delivered. Checked the receipt for delivery times and turns out it's being delivered tomorrow, not today! Argh, whole week planned around it being today. How have I missed that?

Then went to get dressed, opened my undies draw, and carnage. DH sorted out the ironing basket yesterday and weeded out all of the non-iron things. Normally, he's uber tidy and organised and I'm scatty and untidy (see case above!) but yesterday he seems to have just dumped everything in the draw! No socks paired and knickers tangled up with socks and bras! Would I be unreasonable to go and unpair all of the socks in his draw and unfold his boxers as revenge? Wink

HabitualHobbyist · 06/01/2014 09:15

Wow MrsVDB wish I was as organised as you

littleraysofsunshine · 06/01/2014 09:50

I keep having more regular BH's. Along with the cervix stabbing pain like baby is pushing hard. And a striking pain in my bum?! I remember this with my dd2.

Each time baby moves it's achy. I managed both my labours with no PR, so to say painful is the wrong word... I just don't know how long it will do this.. Hours..days..weeks? Etc. I progressed very fast with my two girls. I just can't remember at which week it started.. Hmm

Got a scan today, not that they'll see much as baby is fully engaged. Will be interesting to see the estimated weight. Smile

MrsVDB · 06/01/2014 09:50

hobyist I peaked too soon and fell back asleep now I'm running late- oops. At least I tried!

MrsVDB · 06/01/2014 09:53

sunshine sounds like it won't be long for you now, how many weeks are you?

littleraysofsunshine · 06/01/2014 10:04

37+1.
Dd1- born at 40+5 - 4hrs but about 2 established. . Waters were last to go.
Dd2 - 40+9 - 1hr start to finish. Waters first sign. She was back to back. Few pushes then out. I found it different/easier but more fierce?

TobyLerone · 06/01/2014 10:07

I've had the same since about 36 weeks, sunshine. I'm now 40+1 :o

fryingpantoface · 06/01/2014 10:17

Been hooked up to a monitor for about 90 mins, I'm contracting three times in 10 mins which is really good apparently, especially as I've not been on the pessary that long

Percypiglet · 06/01/2014 10:21

When I finally got back to sleep, I dreamt that the baby arrived by pushing itself out of the front of my stomach through my skin. It was clean and survived despite lack of umbilical cord. No pain and no effort on my part. It was really weird. I think this might be the start of my odd dreams about birth for the next fortnight!

Bluecarrot · 06/01/2014 10:57

Great news frying looks like you will beat me to it after all!

Today us my due date. ( and date of induction) Where did the last few months go?!
