Oh god Spirael I had no idea there was a time limit on time spent in car seats Confused so I think we'll be getting a safe sleeper as well then. E gads!
Hubby found a super deal on Silver Cross Ventura car seat and pushchair system, £250 for the lot, so £370 with their isofix base. Probably get a safe sleeper too so I shall do more research!!

Squiffy sounds like Braxton hicks. I get them occasionally too and they hurt sometimes. It's normal but if you're concerned, see your midwife. I had them all the way through my pregnancy with ds and he was overdue.

We got the mamas and papas sola with the aton car seat. I was going to get the isofix base, but in the which tests, the car seat had a slightly higher safety rating without it! So I've held back for now. Practically having the base might be easier though, I'll see how things go.

Morning all. Thanks for the replies after my hormone fuelled rant a few pages back! I had a chat with my wonderful DH about the things I was worried about and he has confirmed that we will be doing exactly what suits us and nothing else.

We took advantage of the sales and went for a maxi-cosi cabriofix and a baby jogger city mini GT. The pram arrived yesterday and I love it. I needed something I could handle by myself, was compact enough for our car but was still solid. Just need to get a family fix base and the converters to out the car seat on the pram. We're going to spend some time today looking at other bits for the nursery as well.

We had our 20 week scan - all is bang on where it should be, they don't need to see me again as everything was clear and we are having a baby girl! Of course, one of the first things we did after we found out was buy a blue and white rug for her room....

I'm off for a walk by the sea now. Need to start exercising more!

moominleigh94 · 04/01/2014 10:03

I'm having a name dilemna Shock

I was convinced we're having a girl, after looking at the scan everyone is saying boy all over Facebook and it kind of reminded me that I do need to look at names for boys really Hmm

But all the ones I like, I'm worried he'll be one of six or seven in his class. I'm not overly worried, I just want something that he won't be mistaken with. The ones we love are -

Dylan
Oscar
Toby
Rory
Alexander "Xand"
Joseph
Archer "Archie"

But they're all so popular Sad I love Alfie, but my friend's sister is calling her son Alfie. And I like Monty but that's my car's name.

mrsmummytobe · 04/01/2014 10:16

I like them all moomin! We know a little Xander (short for Alexander) & he is the only one in his nursery class. Also as a teacher I can tell you I've taught boys with all those names apart from Oscar, but I've never had more than one in each class. Hope that helps a bit!

sambababy · 04/01/2014 11:10

They're lovely names moomin! We've got a fave boys and girls name but I'm also worried they're not unique enough. Problem is I'm English and DH is Brazilian, and trying to find something people of both nationalities can say is nigh-on impossible. For example, Rory would become something like "Hory" Hmm

ISawNannyPlumKissingSantaClaus · 04/01/2014 11:20

Naming is a nightmare! Feel like every spare minute is spent poring over name books. Think we've chosen Sophia Grace but I'm still having wobbles over it!! Apparently there's a knobby child star American called Sophia grace :( such hard work! (But fun too)

I think you have to think about where you'll be living moomin because names like Dylan aren't as common over here in uk but in some parts of Wales it can be quite popular due to mr thomas

Chip86 · 04/01/2014 11:25

Moomin, keep the list you have because they are all lovely and when the baby is born see which one he looks more like one name might clik

Sambaby, i know your pain DH is portugues this is why we settled on Rebecca its the same in both lauguages her middle name will be Louise which i thought would be ok because its like louisa but no they all say it louisseeee ahhh never mind its a middle name wont get used much

LongTailedTit · 04/01/2014 11:27

kally195 the maxicosi/BabyJogger adapters are £15 at Mothercare, but £25 at John Lewis. I just got them for my BJCM.

Wish wish wish I'd got the GT version now, you've def made a good choice there!

PixieBumbles · 04/01/2014 12:50

Moomin those names are all lovely, and while they're not unusual I'm not sure any of them are so common that he's going to end up knowing several others with the same name. I particularly like Rory, although its not a name I could ever use as it would sound awful with our surname!

We're calling our boy Alexander, probably Xander for short.

Flixy102 · 04/01/2014 13:29

Everyones names are gorgeous u wish my DH was more adventurous when it comes to names but he likes more traditional ones and vetos almost every name I say! We had decided on Hannah for a girl as we're expecting a boy, we've settled on Oliver (nn Ollie).

Unless once he's born he doesnt look like an Oliver and then we're stuck!!!

Flixy102 · 04/01/2014 13:30

Oh dear that didn't make sense! Was trying to say that we had decided on Hannah for a girl but seeing as we're having a boy, we've settled on Oliver!

dobedobedo · 04/01/2014 14:28

Our baby will have John as a middle name and our shortlist so far is:
Luke, Jude, Jesse and Gabriel.

Jude John doesn't sound good though, so that might be out. I flit between the other three depending on my mood!

I've just bought the baby's cot on ebay! I ordered a cosatto bedside cosleeper cot - got it for £80 - total bargain! (they're well over £200 brand new). Just need the mattress now. And a sling, and some clothes and sheets and a chest of drawers and we're done breathe

mumof2aimingfor4 · 04/01/2014 14:37

Ok so now I know that I am having a boy I still have lots of girl clothes from dd2. If anyone having a girl wants them posted to them. No charge for clothes just pay postage and I'll sort them out.

AlyssInAManger · 04/01/2014 14:42

Hi, sorry that I haven't posted much recently. Unfortunately I had a bad bleed last night and after a scan today we saw that one of the twins has no heartbeat.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 04/01/2014 14:50

alyss I am so sorry. After all that youve been through to fight for both babies. My thoughts are with you and hubby.

bushprincess · 04/01/2014 15:04

alyss I'm so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you and sending you lots of positive wishes. xx

dobedobedo · 04/01/2014 15:14

Xavielli · 04/01/2014 15:35

So sorry alyss xx

mrsmummytobe · 04/01/2014 15:49

So sorry alyss. Thinking of you.

Mumof2 I would love the girls clothes if you're sure? I can transfer the money over to you & pm you my address. Thanks so much :)

mumof2aimingfor4 · 04/01/2014 16:04

No problem at all mrsmummy I prefer that they get used as some were only worn once or twice. I'll have to sort the clothes out then weigh them once packaged as I dont know how much postage will be. Give me a week or so as im not the best at being organised! I'll let you know how much postage is then let me know your address by pm.

mrsmummytobe · 04/01/2014 16:06

Thanks so much mumof2, that sounds fantastic! X

LongTailedTit · 04/01/2014 16:12

Gosh Alyss I'm so sorry, what a shock. I know we're all chatting about car seats and stuff, but please don't let stop it you from talking if you want to - we're all ears whenever you want. xx

bluestone85 · 04/01/2014 16:15
