MrsFoo - it definitely goes on Quinnys, p&t, oyster, uppababy vista. Probably others but I've hot a cabriofix and was worried it would hope on but many fit both

Xavielli · 02/01/2014 22:44

ICandy too

PotatoPolly · 02/01/2014 22:51

oo mrsmummy that sounds nice, good thinking about the colours, we've gone for grey and petrol Blue. Where did you manage to get the free carseat from?

mrsmummytobe · 02/01/2014 22:57

Ooh yeh the petrol blue one looked lovely too! It was so tricky choosing the colour as there are so many nice ones to choose from! I would have probably gone for girly pink but my dh was not keen & really wanted a neutral one. It does make sense as if we go on to have another baby we can definitely use the same colour. We just got it from a small independent pram shop. The bloke was really good though & spent ages demonstrating all the different prams so we definitely felt we knew what we were getting.

PotatoPolly · 03/01/2014 06:53

we went for the Blue for the same reason, although DH dropped into conversation last night that maybe we could get royal blue seeing as we know he'sa boy... He needs to make his mind up!
heading into London today and braving the tube- not looking forward to it at all Sad
have a good day everyoneSmile

Hezbean · 03/01/2014 09:38

Mrsfoo I think we'll get the pebble with the familyfix base and that will go into our uppababy cruz. I think we'll get the all black pushchair although I really like the red but guess black will show the dirt less!

Scan this afternoon - so excited / little bit nervous. Woke up really early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.

Spirael · 03/01/2014 10:20

For travel system, we have the Britax B-Smart (in green Wink) from last time that we're intending to reuse this time around. I like it, though it could be a bit bulky and heavy for some. I prefer the substantial feel to it, some of the others felt too flimsy!

We have the Britax car seat that clips onto the frame and also has a dock that stays in the car that it clips to. Makes car transfers very quick and easy. We also have the Baby Safe Sleeper, which might be something for you to consider if you're going to be making lots of long journeys, MrsFoo?

Basically it's like a hard shelled moses basket with a 5 point harness that goes across two seats in the car or clips onto the travel system frame. Because baby lies flat, it means that the normal 2 hour limit for being in a car seat doesn't apply and blankets don't keep falling off them!

Currently trying to calculate my maternity leave dates here. I'll probably stop work at Easter and use annual leave to take me to within a few weeks of my due date. I gave birth at just over 37 weeks last time, so I'm preparing to be early again! (Watch me go overdue. Wink)

I'm a geek software developer, so not a physically strenuous or risk filled job but quite mentally taxing at times!

moobaloo · 03/01/2014 10:22

MrsFoo just to be confusing - JANE SLALOM with MATRIX CAR SEAT!

Matrix lies flat so no time limit for newborns or small babies to stay in it (normal car seat they can only stay in for two hours) so very good for travelling IMO (we will be travelling a lot too) PLUS it slots straight into the frame once you've unfolded it and is lovely to push, turn, very light, etc. Once baby outgrows you just pop the buggy bit back on the frame and use that until it's four years old.

We bought ours second hand because I didn't want to spend a lot of the Matrix which will only be in use for a year tops. New they're about £600 for the pram and car seat, ours was £150 in lovely condition having raised two babies already.

I love it Grin

here you are!

LongTailedTit · 03/01/2014 10:56

Argh can any of you help me with my car seat dilemma please??

The Stage 0 car seat we planned to use expires when TinyTit will be 6mo, and we don't want to use it past expiry. (Car seats have an expiry date of 5/6 years after manufacture due to the plastic parts degrading)
We had hoped to save money by DS2 reusing that seat and then DS1s Stage 1 seat (Maxi Cosi Tobi, forward facing), as he should be ready to move into a high back booster the same time DS2 needs to move into the Stage 1.

Soooo.... The dilemma is:
Do we just buy a new Stage 0 seat and go with the original plan?
OR
Do we buy an Extended Rear Facing seat for DS2 (which I wish in hindsight we'd got one for DS1), accepting the £££ cost and not reusing DSs seats at all?

I didn't even know Extended Rear Facing existed when I was pg with DS1, if you don't know what it is either then check out this link

rebeccax2 · 03/01/2014 12:04

My heart is set on an iCandy peach jogger which I will try to buy second hand - if that doesn't work I'll probably get the Uppababy.

I work in TV as a producer at a small company in soho. I will go back afterwards, hopefully between 6-9 months.. but you can never tell what you'll really do!

Good luck with the scan Hezbean! Please update us right away. :-)

ISawNannyPlumKissingSantaClaus · 03/01/2014 12:12

Oh god I completely forgot about car seats having a life span! My stage 0 was brand new. ( silver cross something or other I think or maybe it was a pebble ) so that was ermm. 3.5 years ago- that should still hold up right?!?!

Settling dd into nursery at the moment- first day leaving her on her own :( !

impatientlywaiting · 03/01/2014 12:44

Hi all, haven't checked in much over Christmas. Hope you are all well.

Can't believe we will have babies this year.

Lots and lots of movement here now, strange to think a fortnight ago I couldn't feel anything and now I feel the baby all of the time.

Hezbean · 03/01/2014 14:36

Thanks Rebecca! Just in the waiting room - baby is fine and everything looks good so far, but he/she was all curled up so they couldn't get all the measurements! Been sent out for a sugary drink and a wait in the hope baby will be uncurled when we go back in in a few minutes!

Hezbean · 03/01/2014 15:56

Naughty baby just wouldn't move! It was totally curled up on itself with its legs crossed and in front of its face. Went in three times. Tried running up and down the stairs, cold drink, sugary drink, waited half an hour but it stayed curled up. So we couldn't see the face or heart etc. Everything else looks fine though. We have to go back in 10 days to have another go. At least we get another look at it!

mrsmummytobe · 03/01/2014 18:10

Ooh I didn't know a baby can only travel for 2 hours max at a time in a car seat.

On a different topic is anyone else suffering from terrible heartburn? It's getting worse and worse for me recently & is really painful. Have any of you lovely ladies got a good remedy? I've been drinking milk to try & get rid of it but it doesn't seem to do much good :(

RuldolfsFlea · 03/01/2014 18:23

mrsmummy the last two pregnancies, the only thing that worked for me was Gaviscon. And it immediately disappears after the baby is born.

I tried warm milk and it only worked once or twice when the heartburn had just began.

Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Xavielli · 03/01/2014 18:35

Milk won't help heartburn for any longer than the initial cooling as it's a fat so makes more acid after a few mins. Ranitidine is your friend. Says on the box not to use in pg but I've had it on prescription the last two times - £2 over the counter

McBaby · 03/01/2014 19:28

Mucogel great for indigestion works v well and tastes much nicer than gaviscon - having suffered from heart burn over the years due to a hiatus hernia and being prescribed endless drugs it's amazing. You can get it on prescription or it's £2.50 OTC but you have to order it in.

LongTailedTit · 03/01/2014 19:28

Ooh goody, heartburn chat! Wink
Mine's been getting worse and worse, it's bloody horrible! Pretty much all day now, might end up seeing if I can get some Ranitidine at this rate - last had it in the house for DS's reflux.

mrsmummytobe · 03/01/2014 19:38

Thanks for the tips ladies. Good to know I'm not alone! I've been getting it for hours every day! Think I might have to pay a trip to boots tomorrow to stock up.

dobedobedo · 03/01/2014 19:41

I have heartburn so badly! It comes on whether I eat, or don't eat. I got a prescription for something like gaviscon but it's called something else. I forget now. It's a miracle cure!

In other news, our pram, baby bath, car seat and moses basket arrived today! We've had a play with them all, so exciting!

Rushyswife · 03/01/2014 20:08

Hiya!

Happy New Year all!
I am a teacher, currently part time after stepping down from management after DS1. I am not taking the enhanced maternity this time as I want to be free to not go back! If i do return I get it as a lump sum which might be nice! I will go off 22nd April but will have Easter before which means my last day will be2nd April.

Buggy wise we have had the I candy peach. It's Amaxing and I still use it every day with DS1 so I think I have justified the cost! I am thinking about buying a Phil and teds explorer as a double though as I think they are roomier than the icandy as a double.

All ok here although DS has stopped sleeping through which is killing me!

Chip86 · 03/01/2014 23:59

Squiffie · 04/01/2014 00:27

I keep getting cramps, kinda like period pains. It happens mostly (but not exclusively) when I'm lying in bed at night. Is this normal (19+2) or should I be worried? X x
