Dh and I have decided on a name for our baby boy! Jesse. We've liked it for a while, but the more I think about it, the more I love it. Middle name will be John as ds's middle name is John and we want them to share a a common name, since they'll have separate surnames.
Ironic though that Jesse means God exists. Dh and I are atheists! Grin

mumof2aimingfor4 · 19/01/2014 11:12

rebecca the worst thing you can do is panic or worry, I used to get anxiety attacks when I was with my cu*t of an ex. I used to find going outside to fresh air and sitting on the doorstep then concentrating on the fresh air and my heartbeat helped.

dobe I love the name Jesse. Funny you chose a name meaning that, our choice of Mateo means gift of god and we're atheists too!

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 19/01/2014 13:05

I've coughed that much now I've got severe abdo pain :-(

rebeccax2 · 19/01/2014 14:08

Arghhh poor you thistle.

Thanks for the reassurance dobedobedo and mumof2 I feel a bit better after a big long walk around the park and it definitely gets worse when I think about it.

Love the name Jesse! Atheist here too, but I love me a biblical name.

moobaloo · 19/01/2014 14:23

Dp felt baby move properly this morning! Yay! The blessed child keeps kicking and then when anyone puts a hand to feel he goes all shy and won't move for them to feel lol

23 weeks tomorrow!!

Getting excited today as I'm making a mothercare wish list! Getting cot this week too Smile

Sorry to hear about coughs colds etc! At least we can be healthy again by the time the babies are born though?

Xxxx

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 19/01/2014 15:39

Love Jesse, such a lovely name! Talking of meanings, we didn't realise until this weekend that Dylan is heavily linked to the sea (probably should have done, as we're both fluent Welsh and 'lan' means 'shore' Hmm ), it's the name of a hero of the sea from Welsh mythology and the meanings are all along the lines of "born near the sea", "son of the sea" - feels like it's meant to be really. We've lived near the sea all our lives (well, almost in my case), our first date was a walk on the beach and a paddle in the sea, his family have always loved sailing and did sea-fishing as jobs, I'm from a Royal Navy family... the name feels very right for us :)

MrsFooCough · 19/01/2014 15:55

Oh Thistle - I had a cough so bad that I retched every time for about 3weeks, I feel your abdominal pain. Along with the chest problems I'm sure you feel helpless and a bit scared. Steam, a humidifier maybe, and MANY FLUIDS will help. Maybe vitC and echinacea, are we allowed to take echinacea? Hmm anything that might help you shift the infection quicker maybe. Chicken soup, homemade if poss - not even joking, studies have shown that it actually has antiviral and antibacterial properties! Jewish mamas have known that for years lol Smile
About name meanings, mine is Elizabeth and means God's gift or God's blessing. I am a staunch atheist as is DH, only had a church wedding to make my MIL and my grandparents happy! For a girl, Grace I'm sure has some godly meaning but I'm thinking more graceful movements, maybe she'll be a water baby like I was, I LOVED the water. And Leo for a boy, again I'm sure somewhere along the line that's had religious significance but I think it'll just mean he's a tough little guy like his daddy Grin with a mighty roar!

Everyone remember, no matter how uncomfortable we are now (even parping and/or weeing ourselves), we will have little Beans, little girls, little boys, who are the most amazing thing we've EVER done with our bodies (not counting "that thing" our DHs/OHs/DPs like with our tongues/boobs/fanjos or getting our ankles behind our ears) and our OHs will be so proud/jealous of us Smile

MrsFoo that made me chuckle! Thinking if you still Dobe Thanks

Dh is being amazing, I'm not allowed to lift a finger! It's a bit frustrating but I know it's for my own good.

Names are so hard, fell in love with a name but then someone I know from school and had been talking to on fb about being pg and birth etc called her little boy the same thing... Can't decide if she's too close to use the same name? Even had a pregnant lady emotional moment after I read she'd chosen our name haha!

Jesse is lovely, as is Grace (can't remember who said which name, sorry Blush!)

SharpLily · 19/01/2014 19:55

I know what you mean, Polly - I'll be really pissed off if Zara Phillips chooses the name I've picked for a girl and even more so if Peter Andre does! Can't believe I'm watching out for what 'celebs' are calling their babies, one of the very weird side effects of pregnancy Grin.

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 19/01/2014 20:29

Had periods of quietness today, but it comes to the evening the coughing and retching starts!! Gp tomorrow

Xavielli · 19/01/2014 22:11

Poor you thistle :( hope the antibiotics sort it really soon.

I wish I didn't have to lift a finger, I've assembled bunk beds today and only got help lifting the top layer of slats on. I think we both forget I'm pregnant most of the time! DP is good really, if I ask him to do anything he would in a heartbeat but I'm too damn stubborn to ask - right pair we make!

Speaking of pairs, my boobs are rather sore this evening. So much so I'm having trouble laying comfortably. I don't usually get anything like this til my milk comes in. No feeling of relief from it though as no baby to feed yet.

Squiffie · 19/01/2014 22:51

Hope you get some relief soon thistle, fingers crossed its a worthwhile GP visit t

Lovely names, its all getting very exciting! X

Squiffie · 19/01/2014 22:53

Hope the ( . )( . ) feel better soon Xavielli Grin

bluestone85 · 19/01/2014 22:56

Oh thistle I know your pain. I got a right one in my right hand side, so much so I thought I might have fractured a rib from coughing. Which sounds extreme but I have a friend who did crack a rib from coughing! Luckily the pain went after a minute or 2. I reluctantly stated taking antibiotics (amoxcillin) on Saturday as the mucus I was bringing up wasn't pretty (sorry tmi). My coughing gets worse towards the evening too, I wonder why that is? I understand when you are in bed as you are flat and it builds up but not just generallysitting on the sofa slowly getting worse...
Anyhoo, sorry for the rambling Grin

bluestone85 · 19/01/2014 22:58

Hehehe squiffie that made me chuckle Grin

MrsFooCough · 20/01/2014 04:57

Morning ladies!

DH got home safe and sound and we had a lovely relaxing sunday doing pretty much nothing bar walking the dogs and lying around catching up... fabulous to have him back again!

We compared our names list and amazingly found some common ground so bushbaby now has a name Grin (bar any last minute changes!)

Sebastian David Llewellyn ***

Bastian for short, David is a family name on both sides, Llewellyn was my late grandfathers name and DH is welsh so suits us both! 1 of my brothers has four names and I've always liked the ring of it so was quite keen for 2 middle names (even though I know it's a mouth-full!)

So we've been talking to and about him by name now - which makes it feel very real!

Unfortunately every time he kicks and I think I can feel it from the outside I've been asking DH to feel and he immediately gets stage fright Sad but I'm sure it'll only get more obvious and regular as time goes on

Hope everyone's feeling ok after a (hopefully) restful weekend thistle, dobe, and the boobs have let us xavielli ! Some lovely names on here over the weekend too... so exciting!

24 wks today!

randdom · 20/01/2014 06:59

Glad that you are enjoying having him home bush princess. Your name is lovely. Sebastian was one if my top choices but my husband vetoed it Hmm

NannyPlumForPM · 20/01/2014 12:19

Lovely name bush !

We're still stuck for a middle name - I wanted Sophia Antigone * (probably Tig for a nickname Grin )but then I learnt that Anitgone was the incestuous daughter of Oedipus and co and then hung herself.... So possibly not! I love that two middle name thing but if I can't choose one then two may be tricksy!

In other news, if you don't mind me asking, I would like to know some honest real life facts on breastfeeding - for the feeder rather than the feedee! Now I didn't breastfeed DD1 but I am sort of wondering whether to give it a good go with DD2 but the thought makes me feel a bit sick....

What does it feel like - does it hurt - how hard is it REALLY - how easy / viable is expressing (not keen on bfing in public) - what do your boobs look like afterwards etc...

If anyone has ANY information - either pro or con I would be super grateful (am also quite keen to learn of bfing helping aid weight loss Wink )

mumof2aimingfor4 · 20/01/2014 13:12

Ok so...

Pros:
Great for weight loss (uses approx 500 calories a day)
Dont have to piddle about making feeds and sterilising bottles etc. Its always there and always perfect.
Baby doesnt need extra water as watery liquid comes through initially then goes milky at each feed.
Perfect for night time as you just pop your boob in babys mouth! My favourite pro as I love my sleep and co sleep with baby.
Great for passing on immunity to baby.
Also studies claim that bfed babies are less likely to be obese in later life.

Cons:
My boobs will never look how they did post bfeeding
Does hurt initially but lansinoh nipple cream is great and it should only hurt for the first couple of days (go to a breast feeding workshop, sounds lame but probably worth it).
Difficult to wean baby off if they comfort feed. (Maybe have a blankie or jellycat cuddly toy that you can put near your breast when feeding so they attach to that rather than you).
Dads cant do it. Unless you express but I never really got on with that.

Don't be worried about breastfeeding in public, there are so many products out there to make it subtle they're great. Plus the breast vest is good for if you dont want to expose that post baby belly!

Peraonally I am opting to combination feed after first couple of weeks as I did for dd2 and shes turned out really healthy, best of both.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 20/01/2014 13:14

Meant they will never look how they did previous to bfeeding.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 20/01/2014 13:17

When I say combination feed I literally gave 1 bottle feed (aptamil) in the afternoon if we were out and about. The rest of the time was bfeeding as we would be home or somewhere suitable to bfeed.

I upped to two formula feeds and unlimited bfeeding at 6 months and carried on bfeeding till 9 months.

dobedobedo · 20/01/2014 13:47

I breastfed ds for almost 3 years and I still have nice boobs so I don't think breastfeeding wrecks them at all! Grin

Good points are: It's super easy. Feeding isn't something you ever have to think about - you just do it. No bottles, sterilising, temperature checking, buying formula etc etc. It's cheap! It's the best way to bond with your baby - I loved breastfeeding. If you don't breastfeed your chances of developing some cancers are increased. Your uterus takes ages to shrink without feeding and you take longer to lose weight.

I felt like a right pervert for even asking the midwife if I could breastfeed after I had ds. That sounds weird now, but I did at the time. I didn't know anyone who breastfed - I thought they'd think I was sick or a perv for wanting to! Just goes to show you how much of a numpty I was.

It did hurt a bit at the beginning, but once I got the latch sorted, it was easy peasy.

I'm not buying a single bottle or dummy this time around "just in case" - I can't wait to breastfeed again!
