I relate to all the talk about families being away. My mum isn't around any more and my dad is about to move to Brazil. My parents in law all live in Yorkshire which is a long way away from the South Coast. I am sure we will find a way to cope though!

Interestingly I randomly decided to listen to the Les Mis soundtrack on my laptop while doing some work and the baby went absolutely bonkers! I wonder if he/she will be a musicals fan! has never down that before.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 18/01/2014 18:38

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time dobe

happy reuinion bushprincess

My work experience is finished at last! Videoing and editing my old theatre group's panto. Weird to go back and see them all and not be in the show, they all love the bump Grin although still a bit concerned - a lot of people are saying that some of the time I don't even look pregnant, you can't tell etc, and it's making me worry that something's wrong Sad

Got a bit emotional looking at viability stats online - realising that my baby has between 70-80% chance of survival if born now is crazy to think.

Rushyswife · 18/01/2014 18:41

Hi All,

Doing ok here. 24+1 today so feeling like time is whizzing by!
(Dobe)sending you hugs it really is hard when you already have dc to look after and have to try and keep going. Hope that you get some rest this weekend.

On the NCT note I can honestly say it was amazing for me, met really lovely people and 2 years later we are all still close, especially 5 of us who meet weekly. Plus we are all embarking on the craziness of dc2 together so the bond gets stronger. There seems to be a real downer in the NCT on mumsnet and of course they promote a natural birth, but so do the NHS!
The NCT do subsidise or waive fees for those on low incomes, one of our group didn't have to pay at all. I suppose there is some truth in the 'type' in that it does tend to be couples in their late 20's early 30's. But that is not always the case. Our group are all extremely different but have all found things in common.

Anyway sermon over! Just didn't want anyone to feel excluded!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 18/01/2014 19:38

I'm really not sure whether to go to the antenatal class midwife offered us or not.

Xavielli · 18/01/2014 20:15

moomin it's completely normal to look 'not pregnant'/smaller/all up top/all at the bottom. It all depends on how the baby is laying.

sambababy · 18/01/2014 20:22

dobe I know how you feel. I'm from surrey but live in Brazil now. As lovely as DH's family are, it's just not the same as having your own family around. I'm most concerned about snapping at his MIL! With your own family, you can just be blunt about stuff. I'm scared she's going to be round every day after the baby's born (as much as I'm sure I will need & really appreciate the help, I don't want to feel smothered!)

Sending positive thoughts to everyone who's feeling down or unwell. I'm currently thinking I might have developed piles Hmm

dobedobedo · 18/01/2014 20:32

I feel a bit better (emotionally). Thanks for all the kind words. I don't know why the spd has suddenly got worse today, I can barely get from one side of the room to the other. I think the pain has just got to me. Like a bear with a sore hip! Grin

I really hope it's just a bad day as I have a really important site tour in work on Monday and I don't know what will happen if I'm still this bad and can't do it.
Dh is being very supportive. He has to be! I can't do anything Sad

bush have fun with your Dh. Bet you can't wait to see him!

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 18/01/2014 21:05

Were booked for ante natal with hospital in April which dh can attend, and there's a bf workshop for me only the week after

MrsFooCough · 18/01/2014 21:48

Silly question here, but did anyone else (first timers or repeat preggos) feel like the first baby movements were pummelling the sh*t out of your bowels? Literally?
I have been feeling LO move, sporadically, for a few days now and ever since I've had quite bad bowel cramps Sad and it's really hampering my enjoyment of the process! Also makes me wonder if what I feel is really baby or just the effect of baby on my bowels, making me TRUMP LIKE A DRUNKEN STUDENT

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 18/01/2014 22:06

MrsFoo first baby movements? I've been feeling baby kick since a couple of days before Christmas, and it still loves nothing more than kicking the hell out of my bowels Grin it very very nearly compares to the discomfort of it kicking what it's going to be coming out of in 15 weeks time Sad

MrsFooCough · 18/01/2014 23:12

Ohh yes moom I'm only just 21wks and started feeling Bean about Tuesday or Wednesday ish. I'm almost a whole month behind you I think! But yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the most uncomfortable I've been all pregnancy. Including the morning when I retched and retched for 10mins straight and NOTHING happened. Lovely. Feels like I'm going to trump CONSTANTLY and lying down is like Russian roulette - I know I should lay on my left side but Bean seems to have prime bowel-kicking position when I do that. So I lie on my right side, and feel guilty, so I roll over when I (inevitably) wake at 2-3am.

All together now: PREGNANCY IS FUN

OP posts:
MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 18/01/2014 23:17

No I just meant, it isn't only the first baby movements where it does it - it seems to be a habit Grin wasn't commenting on how far/not far people are x

MrsFooCough · 18/01/2014 23:25

Oh right-o Blush SOWWY I'm just so jealous of you lot who have even less time to wait until your LOs are HERE TO PLAY WITH YOU. I am so over this waiting malarkey Envy

OP posts:
MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 19/01/2014 00:31

I'm bricking it, people keep asking me how long I have left and saying '14 weeks' is so scary Shock Blush

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 19/01/2014 00:47

I've pulled a muscle in my belly coughing so much!!

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 19/01/2014 02:15

Really struggling with coughing! Can't lie down :/( don't know what to do

dobedobedo · 19/01/2014 06:21

mrsfoo I was explaining to dh how the baby did the exact same thing - making it feel like I was about to fart. He was very disappointed that his beloved son didn't feel like "the fluttering of angel's eyelashes". I've ruined the beauty of his growing baby Grin Grin muppet!

Sure I was at the doctors only last week with what turned out to be swollen kidneys/ureters thanks to the baby kicking and pressing on them! The damage they do and they're not even born yet! Smile

dobedobedo · 19/01/2014 06:21

Try some steam thistle. Hopefully you're asleep by now though Thanks

ClearlyMoo · 19/01/2014 07:06

Dobe that's made me chuckle!

Husband was amused last week when I went for a wee three times in half an hour because my bladder was being used as a kick bag. However when I explained the attack was now focused on my bowel and it felt like farting he didn't want to know!!!

I'm pleased that he actually felt first kick with his hand on my belly yesterday- I'd been telling him for weeks to try and we finally got there!!

Oh thistle, are you propped up in bed? I'll add a vote for steam. How about Vicks vaporub?

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 19/01/2014 07:17

I was propped up but can't sleep that way! I've had a warm bath and olbus oil pillow!! Antibiotics too!!! I've has about 3hra sleep!!! I wake coughing and panic

mrsmummytobe · 19/01/2014 08:09

Dobe & clearly, men just have no idea what we go through in pregnancy do they! My dh is definitely trying to understand bless him but he just doesn't realise how sore my hips are now, how I really do feel like I need the toilet about 100 times a day now & actually how achy pregnancy feels most of the time! I'm sure if it was the other way round & the men were pregnant it would be a different story Grin
Aww dh is very excited about becoming a daddy though :)

mrsmummytobe · 19/01/2014 08:11

Ahh sorry you've had such a bad night thistle. Maybe ring nhs111 in the morning & see if there's anything else they can suggest for you Thanks

Xavielli · 19/01/2014 08:14

Yes yes to bowel kicking + parping! It's still no where near as uncomfortable as the later cervix kicking will be though I'm afraid. Or the scraping under the ribs. It's just such a magical time Hmm

rebeccax2 · 19/01/2014 09:42

I think I have anxiety. I've had problems taking a deep breath for 3 days now. I don't feel anxious though... that's the weird thing. But maybe I am.

Does anyone know if pregnancy can cause breathing weirdness (I mean apart from the usual out-of-breath unfit kind of feelings?). I don't have a cold.

I'm yawning, sighing a lot and finding it hard to take a deep satisfying breath. :-(

dobedobedo · 19/01/2014 10:31

rebecca your lungs are squashed up a bit by now so you probably are noticing when you try and take a deep breath. Rest assured though, you're getting enough oxygen. If you have anything like blue lips or you can't cough, then see your doc.
