dobe I get OH to do it as I am petrified of waxing! Odd I know as labour doesnt bother me but the thought of waxing does Shock

impatientlywaiting · 16/01/2014 06:59

Chip I'm planning on working until 38 weeks too. Then having a week if leave, and officially starting mat leave at week 39.

I'm pretty lucky as officially I work from home, at the moment I work from the London office 2 days a week, which involves staying overnight as I'm based in Newcastle. But when I get much bigger and more awkward I'll have to refuse those trips and work from home all of the time.

I want to start my mat leave as late as I can, as the plan is for me to have 6 months and then DH to have 3 months after that, so as a couple we have 9 months. Seemed like a lovely idea at first, and we'll financially be better off as I earn more than DH, so with me back at work we'll be effected less when we're paid SMP. However now it's getting closer I'm already dreading the thought of going back to work when the baby is only 6 months, can extend it a bit with annual leave.

Hopefully I'll be able to manage to 38 weeks, I'll be so jealous of this thread once we get into mid March and loads of people are starting their mat leave.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 16/01/2014 07:07

impatiently and chip I'll be with you till the end. Im not taking any leave as I childmind at home and dont really want to mess the parents about or the kids. They're (the kids) all so excited that I have a baby in my belly. Obviously if I have a cesarean then I'll have to deal with that if it comes to it.

ThistletoeAndWine · 16/01/2014 07:49

I had x amounts of annual leave that needed to be us ed by March so I just asked manager if i could have one day a week annual leave!!!

Hairy Mary.... Dh helps me out. ;-)

loopylou52 · 16/01/2014 08:44

dobe - I've still been ok with doing it so far (though not doing any intricate styling - just enough not to scare people at the swimming pool!). I'm hoping when I get bigger I can cope with a mirror. I couldn't contemplate getting waxed before I was pregnant, let alone now. Shock Though maybe it would be a good opportunity to practice the natal hypnotherapy!

Xavielli · 16/01/2014 10:34

You're not alone, I've got piles too!

Spirael · 16/01/2014 10:50

Ah piles... I got them last time, but then had an operation between DD1 and DD2 to clear them - as I didn't want them getting worse.

Far as I can tell I haven't got them again so far. (Though they could be lurking just below the surface...) I think iron tablets and associated side effects were a major contributor to them last time. I'm taking Spatone daily to try and keep my iron levels up to hopefully avoid needing to go onto tablets again.

Body hair growth has slowed down here. It did the same with DD1. :) So I fit with the theory that hairy belly = boy.

Shaving nether regions not a problem yet, but I do keep a mobility stool in the shower that I can prop my feet on which makes shaving a bit easier. Also useful for the after birth shower, as it gives me a seat when I'm feeling a bit shaky!

Further added bonus in that it's useful for taking small children into the shower with you, as you can either sit with them on your knee or they can perch on the stool and avoid being hit in the face by soap washing off you.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 16/01/2014 11:12

I'm struggling to reach nethers with the size of bump... think it's going to have to be a wax. Feel like now's not the time to worry about pain; I'm going to be squishing a baby out of there in three and a half months time (Shock), any squeamishness and worries about pain down there should be well out of the window Grin

MrsFooCough · 16/01/2014 14:10

I had a Brazilian wax at about 3mths, I used to have waxes every month before we got preggo - the wax itself was agony what with increased blood flow, but it only hurt for an hour or so afterwards. Also if your hairs are long because you don't shave/wax regularly, it will hurt because they'll probably want to use wax that doesn't have fabric strips, the wax hardens and then they flick up a free edge and pull it off that way. It hurts if they have to flick it up on an area that's got longer hairs Shock
The ingrown hairs afterwards were way more itchy than usual, though - so be prepared! I haven't had one since!

At my GTT yesterday, they injected me in the same place twice - the only vein in my arm that it's possible to get blood from Grin thing is, two bruises have come up today - one in the place where they injected me twice, and another on the other side of my arm, over a vein that never gives good blood so is never used for blood tests and hasn't been for four or five years now... but there's a little bruise there that's sore to touch and looks exactly like they've taken blood from it. I am a freak of nature Grin

seriously though, is my arm going to drop off?

Vikks · 16/01/2014 15:21

I’m loving all the ‘Joys of Pregnancy chat’! No piles yet but had them with DS so fully expecting them again. I’m not hairier at the moment….PG with girl, if there is anything in these old wives tales?? I do remember my hair falling out after the birth last time. It was really shocking how much, I had bald patches for ages. I hope that is different this time.
Grooming with mirrors at the moment, I feel like giving up and going natural! Wink
My biggest annoyance this pregnancy is thrush. I can’t take the tablet that gets rid of it completely so I can only keep it at bay with the pessaries. Basically I need a treatment every 5 days….bloody lovely!!

On the up side the bedroom action is better than ever. Even when I do feel like an unattractive whale DP has a way of making me feel pretty. He’s digging the PG look, weirdo maybe? Hmm

23 weeks tomorrow!

dobedobedo · 16/01/2014 16:06

Oh mrsfoo that doesn't sound pleasant. I might give the wax a miss! It's only 3 and a half more months - I can be hairy for that long. Maybe I'll start collecting sponsorship money, like movember!

I've never had piles before - thank jeebus!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 16/01/2014 16:09

I feel too massive to have sex... I'm worried I'll crush OH and he's worried he'll poke the baby in the eye Hmm

mumof2aimingfor4 · 16/01/2014 16:27

Me and OH had great sex when pregnant before but becuase of me having a prolapse he's too scared to do the deed. Admittedly I am a bit worried too. It's only 4 more months out of the rest of our lives so its a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things.

OH calls me sexy all the time though and still sends me cheeky messages when hes out at work so I guess he isnt bothered that we're not having sex atm either.

On other discussions, I've never had piles and hopefully never will.

bushprincess · 16/01/2014 16:37

sex....hmmmmmmmmm........ all I can say is that it's been a long 3 months!

but maybe the hairy beast stomach hair will put him off... ahhh! right, am off to shave my tummy... oh the joys!!

lady garden still accessible so maybe that could do with some trim too... and better dig out some candles for the bedroom to try and throw a flattering shadow effect over ever expanding bump!!....

.....gosh I hope he's one of the 'pregnant ladies are sexy' ones and not the 'oh gosh I'm too scared to touch you in case your tummy bursts' ones after all that!!

Saturday can't come soon enough!! Wink

mrsmummytobe · 16/01/2014 17:34

I've still been shaving the lady garden! I'm so used to doing it I'm not that bothered I can't really see it anymore while doing it! Mrsfoo just in case I was in any doubt your story has confirmed that I'm never going to have a wax while pg!!! Ouch!

I've definitely been getting a bit more hairy & I'm having a girl!! Eek not sure what that means! It's a little line that's got way more hairy below my belly button. I'm just plucking them out.

I've been getting terrible aches & pains in my hips though. The pain at the end of each day is terrible. I'm definitely going up speak to the doctor about it on Monday :(

Ahh all the extra hairiness, aches & pains will all be worth it though ladies when we are holding our little babies! :)

dobedobedo · 16/01/2014 18:21

mrsmummy I'm the same. My hips gradually get worse as the day goes on. When I'm leaving work at 6pm I can barely walk properly. I was supposed to be going to physio tonight but you have to bring your partner for support and I have no one to look after ds, so I might just Google some exercises to do.

mrsmummytobe · 16/01/2014 18:36

Same dobe! Did your doctor refer you for physio?

Chip86 · 16/01/2014 18:48

I was wandering what to do about lady garden i was planing on when in labour and nurse has hand up there going "is it bad down there not seen it for like 6 whole long months" Wink
no going to have to do somthing can hardley see down there as it is dont think i could ask dh to do it we been together a long time but not that long maybe after second baby i wont be worried any more Grin

Sat here typing on my phone resting it on belly and its going up and down she moving like crazy hehehe so cool

You girls make me laugh so much and its nice to know there are people going through the same as me makes me smile at the end of a long tiring job/day Thanks

dobedobedo · 16/01/2014 20:08

No, my midwife did. I'm gonna go back and see if I can get times when ds is in school.

Aw ditto chip. This place is great for a giggle and support.

PotatoPolly · 16/01/2014 21:02

Also feeling very grateful for you all!

I'm planning on having it all taken off before, the thought of getting it all messy is worse for me than the pain I think!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 16/01/2014 22:01

Bought a baby bath! It's the Munchkin white hot inflatable duck bath Grin easily portable and looks cute too Grin

randdom · 16/01/2014 22:17

We got a cot today. It is a cotbed so should last a while and was £40 on gumtree. It had belonged to the grandparents of the child so is barely used Grin

Xavielli · 16/01/2014 22:24

Great stuff! I'm still pulling my hair out trying to decide which double buggy to get. Bunk beds are coming on Sunday so I will have a cot spare then :) just need a new mattress, not that he'll go in it for about a year but he might not want to co-sleep I guess. I think that's everything sorted then.

I'm kind of sad we don't need much, the planning what to buy has always been such fun.

LongTailedTit · 17/01/2014 00:02

Oh help....off topic, but wooooooo! - DH has just driven off at nearly midnight to search for DS's favourite toy, which he just realised must have been dropped somewhere between the supermarket car park and home this morning.

DH is totally panicking and upset, while I'm completely blasé and calm about it. Weird!

Really hope he finds it, but am now very glad we bought a replacement last year! (Which needs some serious wear to even approach similarity now...)
