Can I ask.... Sex drive.... Has it increased or decreased?

Mines has taken a nose dive :-((

loopylou52 · 14/01/2014 18:09

Sicknspan that sounds truly horrendous. Hope it was just a blip and you continue to feel better.

Bluestone - the sonographer didn't ask us either. We didn't want to find out so dh made a point of saying we needed to be careful not to see anything by accident.

For those feeling crappy about weight gain, have you looked on the pregnancy weight gain calculators online? You put in your starting weight and height and they tell you the expected weight range for your number of weeks. I made myself a spreadsheet using that info, which I now track my weight against. I think it helps because we automatically think any weight gain is bad but I can look at that and see that actually I've put on the expected amount and it makes me feel better about it.

mrsmummytobe · 14/01/2014 18:09

Poor you sicknspan. Look after yourself.

Good luck tomorrow moomin, randdom & anyone else I may have missed having scans tomorrow.

I'm taking mat leave at 37.5 weeks. But actually we break up from school when I'm nearly 35 weeks then I'm just back in for a couple of days for a handover with my maternity cover at the start of the summer term so it should be pretty manageable.

I had to take my wedding ring off today, my hands have swollen up so much! My feet are really swollen too & I'm getting so many aches & pains! Also is anyone else finding it more & more of a challenge just to put on socks/tights/shoes in the morning?!

Thistle, mine has taken a bit of a nosedive but I'm more worried about what will happen to our sex life after I've given birth & I'm full of stitches!!! Aghhh it sounds horrendous!

loopylou52 · 14/01/2014 18:10

thistle mine has taken a nosedive too, partly due to feeling tired and sore by the time I go to bed.

Minions · 14/01/2014 18:18

Ah, sounds lovely Vikks I was bridesmaid at a wedding on the 28th Dec and it was just lovely. The church had a 22ft (!) Christmas tree all lit up and the venue was beautiful with candlelight. Weather was rotten but didn't matter one bit :) Enjoy the planning, special times

NannyPlumForPM · 14/01/2014 18:46

Ahem, what is a sex drive?! Wink I feel about as sexy as a half beached whale- and dp had the tenacity to say maybe I should go on top!!! I said WHAAAAT?!

moomin re body image it is really tricky because the best advice is that you really won't feel like this after the baby is born. You will be concentrating on how your amazing body made a real life person that can walk and talk and smile and yawn etc (and poo and puke and scream etc etc haha)..... BUT it is all good me saying that when your looking in the mirror and feeling rubbish :( so I sympathise completely and I know your thoughts but all I can say is you won't care (and this comes from me when I was a 7 1/2 stone blonde gym every day, sunbed every day, vainest woman ever, shallow 21 yr old- and I can honestly say that after you've had the baby you have a special extra person that you've made- and nothing compares :)

NannyPlumForPM · 14/01/2014 19:00

Phew sorry that turned into a bit of an essay sorry Blush

sicknspan I have no experience of hg so can't even imagine what you 're going through but hope it doesn't come back!

Scannees ( thistle and blue ) good luck! Sonographers have always asked me if I wanted to know the sex I think but I'm quite vocal about wanting to know!

randdom could you not switch off nights? Again I've no experience but I think nights are included In the 'risk assessment at work" thing and you can request for them to be stopped

dobedobedo · 14/01/2014 19:15

sicknspan that sounds awful. I barely coped with the sickness when it lasted 14 weeks - I can't imagine it being that severe and lasting so long! You're a hero to go back to work... just keep an eye on yourself and don't beat yourself up if you have to stop again. Do what's best for you.

I'm taking Maternity leave at 37 weeks, but I'm going to take two weeks holiday before then so really I'm stopping work at 35 weeks. It ties in with the start of our new holiday year, the end of the tax year and the start of ds's Easter holidays. Perfect timing really! That's what I'm planning, but if I get ill I'll stop sooner. Or if the deal I'm working on right now at work takes longer to tie up and sort out, I'll work longer - or use some KIT days. We'll see! Fingers crossed I can just stop on 7th April as planned.

Regarding sex drive - Mine increased as soon as I stopped being sick all the time, but it's diving a bit now - I'm just so knackered and I can't be arsed. I don't really care about having a fat tummy now - dh likes me being pregnant - he's one of these weirdos who thinks it makes me sexier. Or at least he's pretending he feels that way so I don't feel self conscious!

Xavielli · 14/01/2014 19:21

I have a really high sex drive when pregnant, all the way through. But it's never exactly low any other time Blush That'll be why all these babies keep appearing

randdom · 14/01/2014 19:35

At my 12 week risk assessment they said I couldn't come off nights. I am going to try again now as I don't do more until 27 weeks.

ThistletoeAndWine · 14/01/2014 19:35

I got a consultant letter recommending I come
Off nights due to my diabetes!!

Rigbyroo · 14/01/2014 20:49

Baby boy here so I will have one of each! So excited! He's super wriggly and dd loves kissing my bump and singing to baby. She's 20 months and so excited! Hope you are all doing well.

NannyPlumForPM · 14/01/2014 21:28

Congrats rigby :) sounds like that's just what you wanted!!

hobbjobb · 14/01/2014 22:31

Hey everyone. I'm not great at posting but always lurking and enjoying sharing this experience with you!

I'm stopping work at 33 weeks and taking my whole years holiday (5 weeks) so my mat leave will start at 38 weeks. I already cannot wait! Only 11 weeks to go Grin

I'm getting lots of wriggles but no definite kicks yet.

21+4 today, time is flying!

ThistletoeAndWine · 15/01/2014 00:41

24+0.... Officially 6 months!!! Where has time
Gone???

MrsFooCough · 15/01/2014 08:33

Hello all!
I would give advice about body image but tbh I'm feeling more normal or even attractive now than ever before (despite the charming sideburns and hairy beast stomach hair). Probably as I had trouble with my weight before the BFP. Have actually lost weight since becoming pregnant, so it's all kind of coming up roses for the Foo family Smile
Bless DH, he can't keep his hands off me! I think he's insane of course as I don't feel THAT sexy. Heh.
Oh and I think I felt the baby move yesterday night! First time so I'm not 100% sure, but it felt like a bubble of wind popping? Is that it?

wm3010 · 15/01/2014 09:03

Hi all

Planning to start mat leave at 37 weeks, office job so if my health holds up should be ok. Have already had comments along the lines of "you'll never manage that long" though, which is just not helpful! Other women in the office have managed that and it seems to be about the norm around here if no complications. Not sure how long we will cope with just SMP so would like to keep going as long as possible.

On sex drive, mine is a bit dismal at the moment, just so tired and when we have tried it feels really weird as usual positions don't work well and I think I am much more fragile than normal. Think DH would love to do it more often but he seems a bit scared to hurt me too. Reminds me of early teenage fumbles when neither party knew what they were doing - not sexy! However, must make an effort over the next few weeks before I get too enormous...

On body image, I had midwife's appointment yesterday and she says the amount of weight I've put on is fine and within what they would expect, but it's more than I thought as I don't look like I've put on that much and I admit it freaked me out. Keep reminding myself that my boobs alone must now weigh a lot more than usual! I know it's not good to put on excessive weight but really think that to a certain extent we will each be driven by our bodies and metabolism so there is no point worrying as long as overall diet is fairly healthy and not using pregnancy as an excuse to just be a pig. Now I just need to take my own advice Wink

wm3010 · 15/01/2014 09:03

PS MrsFoo definitely sounds like a baby movement to me!

Spirael · 15/01/2014 09:34

Those who've gained a fair amount of weight already, you could well find it slows down over the last few months. Last time I found I was eating a lot less towards the end as I physically couldn't manage to eat much as DD1 was busy squashing my stomach!

My body has changed since having a child, and it does take a while to get used to. After the birth I felt a bit like a train wreck for some time, it took me a good few months to get used to all the bits that were different. However, I've realised that I should be proud of my 'battle wounds' as they brought me DD, and also I've realised that a few things actually improved. :)

My breasts ended up bigger than before I became pregnant, my skin is a lot more stable and less prone to spot outbreaks, I'm fitter than before and my arms have never looked better. (Lots of exercise running around after and carrying a baby/toddler!) Meanwhile, in time, I've just gotten used to changes in more delicate areas. Wink You could even consider some of the changes there as improvements as well.

Had my 20 week scan yesterday, all went fine. :) DD2 (as has now been 99.9% confirmed!) was being as much of a monkey as she's been at all her scans, but the sonographer managed to view everything eventually. By the measurements, looks like I'm having another long, skinny baby. I blame long, skinny DH. But then I can't really complain, as for giving birth it's better that than some of the alternatives!

Since the scan I've been feeling loads of movements. DD2 spent most of yesterday kicking me in protest at having been prodded repeatedly, then she's up early this morning having a good wiggle and kick. I wouldn't be surprised at this stage though if she goes quiet again for a day or two. I'll start tracking properly once I reach 24 weeks.

dobedobedo · 15/01/2014 09:48

That sounds like movements to me too mrsfoo It's amazing how quickly it goes from a popping sensation to full on karate kicks!

Are we supposed to track kicks once we get to 24 weeks spirael? I'll be 24 weeks this week. Such a milestone!

Spirael · 15/01/2014 10:01

I think it's 28 weeks you're meant to start tracking and noting any periods of inactivity or changes in usual movement rates. But normally by 24 weeks most people are feeling something and you can start getting an idea of what normal levels and times of movement are for your LO. :)

I didn't bother using any specific tracker or anything last time around, I was just vaguely conscious and made a mental note of movements. If I'd had any concerns I may have started making notes, but fortunately I never did.

wm3010 · 15/01/2014 10:02

Thanks Spirael, hopefully weight gain will slow. My appetite has increased a lot over the last couple of weeks which worries me a bit but I'm not prepared to go hungry as it seems to me these drives are there for a reason - plus I find the nausea sometimes comes back if I get too hungry.

PixieBumbles · 15/01/2014 10:11

hairy beast stomach hair

Oh good Lord. I was not prepared for the hair. Nobody warned me about the hair. My belly looks like it has a light furry covering.

I asked DH the other day if he found me sexy. He gave me a Hmm look and said "er...yes?"

Not quite sure what to make of that!

randdom · 15/01/2014 11:12

Just had our scan! One healthy but very stubborn baby. Had to go in three times for them to get what they needed! Also thankfully didn't flash us!

mrsmummytobe · 15/01/2014 12:30

Haha pixie & mrsfoo I've also suddenly sprouted more hair on my tummy!!! No one mentioned this might happen! In fact I think my hair is getting thicker everywhere!

Is anyone else swelling up in all directions? I've had to take my wedding ring off as it was far too small! Those who are having 2nd/3rd babies, do your hands & feet go back to normal size after? I really can't wait to fit into my wedding & engagement rings again! Think I'm going to buy a cheap ring to wear for the rest of the pregnancy as I feel really bare without it :(

Congrats on the lovely scan news!
