Nanny* glad you're feeling a little between for letting it out, vent here anytime you need to .... and hurrah for emergency wine!

thistle mines a bit like yours, I'm not feeling him regularly yet, hope your consultant puts your mind at ease today.

4 sleeps till dh is home..... yeah!!!!

dobedobedo · 14/01/2014 06:24

Loopy, hiccups feel like regular bumps, kinda like kicks but over a larger area if that makes sense. It's like my whole tummy feels a hiccup!

wm3010 · 14/01/2014 08:01

Hi ladies, some very exciting news on here so keep us posted with wedding planning - I love all that stuff!

Nanny I think people say stupid things because they aren't sure how to react. They are probably generally trying to be kind but it doesn't work. Keep venting if it helps - and don't feel guilty about your feelings, you feel what you feel.

Baby wm is fairly active on the kicking front, although her favourite thing seems to be kicking when something is pushing on the bump - so will kick my desk at work a lot, and will kick dh's arm when he is resting it on my bump (yesterday so hard he could feel her through the duvet) but go silent when he just puts the palm of his hand on the bump to try to feel her. I now feel her most mornings and most evenings and then at random times during the day. It's lovely! No sign of hiccups yet though!

loopylou52 · 14/01/2014 08:43

Thanks for the hiccuping info. Maybe it'll be easier to distinguish when the kicks are harder. At the moment I often still think 'was that a kick or just wind?'. I haven't seen my whole tummy move yet either.

Xavielli · 14/01/2014 10:18

I always think hiccups are more like clicking than kicks, and they go on for a minute or two. It's lovely to think that when you can feel them that's the baby practicing to swallow.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 14/01/2014 10:35

Mini Moomin hates the laptop, I rest it on bump and the vibrations sent him/her off, that might be something worth trying if people are worried? Also when I lie on my front (I can just just just about manage it for half an hour without feeling too uncomfortable!) the kicks get very hard. It's starting to really jab me sharply now; we've sat and just watched my tummy move when it kicks a few times Grin

Minions · 14/01/2014 10:47

Really good to hear about the varying degrees of baby kicks, I worry when he/she is very active & when they've gone quiet! When active, the kicks are visible on the surface which is weird & exciting. Bath time & evening are guaranteed playtimes now - and a couple of responses to taps etc.

25 weeks today, eek!

Loving all the wedding chat :) Congrats Vikks I wonder what gorgeous wee outfit you'll get for your LO!

ThistletoeAndWine · 14/01/2014 11:11

I have really bad belly ache today :-(

BlanketSky · 14/01/2014 12:15

interesting to see the variation in movements. Babyblanket is moving noticeably much more which is lovely, but still nowhere near how much DS did.. well what I can remember! Couple of differences too, she is breech, and anterior placenta too. Can feel her kicking at my bladder and she seems to have her head up on my left side, and I get these delicate stroky movements higher up which I'm guessing must be elbows! :) DH still hasn't felt her move- by this point, DS was making my whole belly move. 24 weeks.

When is everyone planning to take mat leave? I am rethinking my plans as I'm struggling- PGP and tiredness mostly. I was planning to work til the end of this school term (35-6 weeks) but now thinking of going at 32. My physio yesterday basically said I was mad to consider going much longer than that. I'm also feeling quite inward and more of an introvert than usual, and want to nest already. And also DS (3) told me yesterday he is worried about having a sister (I think he meant the changes it will bring) so I want to spend some decent time with him without constantly feeling the pressure of work or being too exhausted to do anything with him.

Ahh, hiccups. DS had them so much, and still gets them loads! He always used to get them about 11pm just as I'd gone to bed and it'd keep me awake for ages Hmm

Hugs nanny- she's yours whatever and she'll make you proud x

NannyPlumForPM · 14/01/2014 13:36

I'm taking my leave on the 14th feb Grin at 28 wks so I'll have lots of lovely time to rest. With the way our annual leave year falls it was either take it now or wait until 38 weeks- which considering it is a 20 min walk uphill I just don't fancy that in April! Plus dd came a little early so I really want to prepare the house etc. Due to go back to work April 6th

NannyPlumForPM · 14/01/2014 13:37

2015 obv - otherwise I probably won't have given birth! 24+ 2

ThistletoeAndWine · 14/01/2014 14:12

May leave starts for me on April 7th, will be around 36 weeks!!!

Minions · 14/01/2014 14:37

I'll be 35.5 weeks when I start my leave all being well. First two weeks is annual leave, then mat leave. This is my first so really no idea how I'll feel. Commmute is 1+ Hours each way but I can work from home a day a week & bro in law works in same office so potentially could drive me the odd day too.

V jealous of those starting earlier, giving me 2nd thoughts...

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 14/01/2014 14:45

I'm just carrying on until I physically can't anymore, whether that's through baby arriving or getting so exhausted I can't continue.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 14/01/2014 14:49

Im not taking any leave. Unless I have to have a cesarean then I won't have any choice. Im a self employed childminder and compared to the money I earn I could not drop to maternity allowance (£130/week).

moobaloo · 14/01/2014 16:23

I'm leaving in two weeks Grin not all work! but my busiest, hardest and most tiring job. Not actually because I'm pg, because it was seasonal, but feels like really early mat leave!! (Although I'm not going back)

I have another job which will take up 2/3 days a week and an online shop to run which I'm looking forward to having more time to devote to. In time yet I'll be giving these up, probably not till the last few weeks

22+1 today!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 14/01/2014 17:07

Ahhhh it's my GTT tomorrow. Was talking to OH earlier about it and said I'm not fussed at all about having to give up sugar as much as possible, but I'd spend the next 15 weeks worrying about the baby if it did come back with issues Sad

All I can think about at the moment is getting back to being able to exercise without worrying about doing too much and hurting the baby. My body image is rock bottom at the moment, I hate this lack of control over how my body looks. It's really getting me down, I've cut down massively on what I eat (maybe cut down more than I should, I don't know) and trying to exercise as much as is safely possible and yet I still feel huge.

We're buying the pram tonight. Graco Mirage travel system :)

SicknSpan · 14/01/2014 17:13

I need to vent ladies. Sorry for the whinge that is about to unfold....

Went back to work yesterday after being off since 14th Oct - signed off because of hyperemesis, puking 50 times a day and was bringing up fresh blood as had torn a hole in my throat from all the retching. Sickness has now abated and not feeling so nauseous either (bonus!) And was fine yesterday but today I am feeling rough as. Not a particularly taxing job (office based) but am worried sickness will return, just as it did in both previous pregnancies. Really scared as hoped it was going to be different this time, have recovered earlier than when pg with ds's. Just venting really. [Wail and wah and poor me sniffle]

ThistletoeAndWine · 14/01/2014 17:34

I have a growth scan on Friday! Can't wait to see my dude again

Vikks · 14/01/2014 17:36

SicknSpan That sounds truly awful I really hope things change for you soon. x x Thanks

I’m taking my MAT leave from 33 weeks. I’m going on a weeks a holiday and don’t fancy going back for a short time afterwards and ‘handing over’ twice. Plus it’ll be really nice knowing that my holiday is the start of everything. Like you BlanketSky I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with DS too before his little sis turns up and rocks our world!

Lots of movement here, I can feel her when I’m moving around now. My new favourite pastime is laying in the bath watching her move around. No hiccups yet but I remember them with DS, he had them all the time. Super cute.

Minions I've already got my eye on a little dress with blue petals in the hem! My sister (my other bridesmaid) will carry her down the aisle. DS will walk with me and my dad. Wow I've put way too much thought into this already!

Mumof2 I’m loving that wedding website, I've uploaded our pictures and added some text already, I’m sure it will be very helpful to all the guests. And….It’s looking like Saturday 27th December 2014 is the big day!!! Smile

Hi all. Sorry I haven't checked in. Been a bit mad since I got back. I need to catch up with everything when I have chance. just wanted to let you know that I had scan yesterday but baby wasn't cooperating so got to go back in about 2 weeks to finish the checks. She didn't even look at the babys bits to tell us either. So still on team yellow at the mo. Am i supposed to say that we want to know when we walk in?

21 + 3

bluestone85 · 14/01/2014 17:44

Oh and I can definitely feel kicks and movements! Horray! x

Vikks · 14/01/2014 17:44

ThistletoeAndWine Good luck Friday x

Moomin Hope all is well tomorrow. I know what you mean about feeling lack of control over your body. Be careful not to cut down too much and maybe speak to someone if you continue to feel low. x x hugs x x

randdom · 14/01/2014 17:51

Nausea is bad today :( I think i might just be because i am tired post-nights but i feel rotten.

I also have my scan tomorrow which is a bit anxiety provoking

moobaloo · 14/01/2014 17:53

Sick span that sounds horrible! Look after yourself

How exciting Vikks!

Bluestone, I think you are meant to ask at the start if you want to know the gender but our sonographer asked me so I didn't have to... Maybe she couldn't see as baby was being unhelpful?

Moomin, I know what you mean re. Body image. I'm 21 and this is the biggest I've ever been, feel all gut and bum and thighs and boobs! Struggling to get used to it. I keep hiding my body from dp but he's been lovely and says it's lovely and natural etc. but I still don't like it! I like the boobs, they can stay! But I'm shocked how big my bum/hips/thighs seem! I try not to get too worried though because you only go through this once for each child and I'm actually looking forward to getting back into shape in a way which I never have viewed exercise before! Now the nausea has worn off I'm eating so healthily as I crave fruit! You're going to get bigger no matter what you eat as you're carrying a child so don't worry about it until much later Smile

Although we have a friend coming round tonight who is very anti child and before he knew I was pg he was going on about how childbirth and pregnancy ruins women's figures and how my figure would be ruined if I ever did it etc. I was 9 weeks at the time and couldn't punch him or cry as then he'd find out!

I try not to care what he thinks as my dp and I are happy to be having this child and no one else's opinion matters! But it's hard Sad
