Mormon, choppa has said things better than I ever could. If it helps I also struggle to feel attached to the baby. It just seems such a strange concept that there is actually a baby in there who is my child. I am sure I will feel differently when I have him/her in my arms but it does get in the way if feeling exciting/planning now.

If you are struggling with low mood it is definitely worth talking to someone about it. Look after yourself and try not to beat yourself up about things (which I know is easier said than done)

randdom · 12/01/2014 16:13

Gah moomin... Dam autocorrect

Vikks · 12/01/2014 17:14

Hi Everyone.

Loving the scan news still coming in.

Choppa You are a very wise woman, lovely words. X

Moomin I hope you are feeling well today. X

I can’t believe how strong the kicks are I’m feeling now, it’s lovely and reassuring but can make me jump sometimes. I’m sure I've felt a little bony foot sticking out and I can sometimes feel a bum or head (but never sure which). I’m so excited to meet her now, roll on May!

It was interesting what people were saying about Pethidine at few days ago. I had it during my first birth and will definitely be staying away from it this time. In my experience I felt very ‘drunk’ and woozy in my head but didn't feel like the pain reduced at all. In the end I opted for an epidural and will not hesitate to have one again if my pain level was as before (I was induced at 42 weeks). I've started to write my birth plan; it is very different from my last one! Anyone else started theirs?

In other news, my DP proposed to me yesterday! I’m absolutely over the moon. He and my DS (3 yrs) did it together, DS said “Mummy will you marry Daddy”! I think it took me five minutes to stop crying and say yes. Damn hormones! I can’t stop looking at my beautiful ring!!!
We have decided that we want to get married this year, so 2014 will be a very very special year for us. We are thinking a Christmas wedding so little Olivia will be around 7 months by then and she can be my bridesmaid. Grin Grin Grin

Enjoy the rest of your weekends! x

22+2!

randdom · 12/01/2014 17:28

NannyPlumForPM · 12/01/2014 18:11

Ohh congrats vikks!!! (Although I am incredibly jealous!!) really lovely news :)

Spirael · 12/01/2014 18:32

Congratulations Vikks! :) Lovely that it was a joint effort by your DS and DH!

I was lucky enough to get pretty much my ideal birth last time around, so I'll probably just reuse my birth plan again this time. I had two pages, one for if I got my home birth and another for if I needed a transfer to hospital.

A few things for people to consider putting on theirs is whether you want the cord cutting straight away, whether you want an injection to help the delivery of the placenta and whether you want your LO to have a vitamin injection.

Lots of good advice from Choppa, Moomin. I didn't feel very attached to DD before she was born. I'm more of a logical than emotional person anyway, so I'd carefully made all the arrangements but I wasn't anywhere near besotted. Same thing this time around. I don't think I've ever felt anywhere near crying at being kicked or seeing a scan or anything!

When DD was born I didn't feel a sudden rush of love or a switch flicking or anything. It was more a case of "Oh, a baby. Can I have a shower now?" Wink I cared about DD of course, but at first she just seemed like a very demanding pet. Over time, my love for her has grown as she's become a proper little person and now I can't imagine a time without her in my life!

So try not to worry about your feelings towards your LO. You haven't met them yet, not really! Nor have you had a chance to get to know them, or for them to get to know you. Some people are able to fall in love right away, but others take some time. At the end, the depths of feeling are the same.

mrsmummytobe · 12/01/2014 18:51

Aww, lovely news vikks, congratulations!!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 12/01/2014 20:19

Congratulations vikks check out www.gettingmarried.co.uk we've registered on there for our wedding next year its a really good site.

Xavielli · 12/01/2014 21:24

Congrats vikks Thanks

Vikks · 12/01/2014 23:56

Thanks everyone x x

mumof2 I've signed up to that site, it looks really good. Have you set a date yet? We are going to see a venue this week, they have a date free which I would love! Grin fingers crossed x

mumof2aimingfor4 · 13/01/2014 06:54

Its a great site especially as my family are useless and would most likely lose an invitation so a website for wedding arrangements is so much better! Yes we have set a date, we're getting married at Lulworth Castle mid August next year. It does scare me though. Marriage is very final in my eyes as I don't (for me personally, not any one elses situations) agree with divorce.

What venue have you gone for? A winter wedding will be beautiful, so romantic too have you got a colour scheme in mind, I didn't actually realise how much effort woild be required to organise a wedding though!

Vikks · 13/01/2014 08:54

Mumof2 It certainly will save putting extra information in the invitations, accommodation, maps, gift ideas, etc. I uploaded our photos last night, hopefully very soon I’ll have some more information to add….

A castle sounds amazing, how romantic! We are going to visit a hotel, we want somewhere we can have the day and evening do in the same place. It might be very cold too so saves being outside too much. Re Colours…maybe blue & silver, I need to have a think. What about you?

Like you I think marriage should be forever too but I’m not scared to commit, I think having children together is equally as big a commitment. I have been married before and didn't have a moments doubt about marrying my ex but in the end one woman wasn't enough for him and me & DS (1 yrs at the time) had to leave.
But thank god he did cheat because I would never had met my wonderful DP and realised how happy I could be and have our little DD on the way. I think I might be running down the aisle! I'm still a firm believer in marriage. Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 13/01/2014 08:58

Aww you are all so cute!! Although desirable as planning a wedding would be. (I'm an events manager by degree) my ideal wedding would be me, dp, dd1 and dd2 holed away on a gorgeous beach somewhere!! Bliss Grin

However, getting him to propose this side of the turn of the century is proving tricky ....

Can't wait till I leave work!!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 13/01/2014 09:18

Silver and blue is a really nice combination, my OH's cousin used that colour scheme. Im going for dark red, burnt orange and a platinum/dark silver. Im wearing a red dress as im not traditional. Im not scared to commit as such im just a free spirit type (ttypical gemini) so find it a bit difficult to get my head round. Your comment about meeting your current partner is lovely.
nanny I gave up on waiting for OH to propose and then on our holiday last year he proposed. He'll do it when you least expect it xx

randdom · 13/01/2014 09:49

All this wedding talk sends me back!

Out of interest, does anyone's job involve doing nights? I have just finished a run and I feel awful. I can't keep anything down when I do them and have fainted a few times. My next lot aren't until i am about 26 weeks and I am wondering whether I am going to be able to cope Hmm

ThistletoeAndWine · 13/01/2014 10:28

Ohhh my god!! A September bus!!!!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 13/01/2014 11:10

Thank you choppa, Spirael and everyone for the advice and concern x Thanks

Vikks congratulations!

Love the marriage talk Grin OH and I have spoken and agreed that we want to get married... just not yet Grin if one of us drops out of uni before September because it's going to be too difficult, we will be getting married in the summer but it'll be a tiny registry office do, more signing a piece of paper than declaring our undying love for each other. A jeans and t-shirts affair Grin and that's only because we need to do that to be able to get Adult Dependents Grant.

Followed by the huge massive wedding we want five or six years down the line with Ozzy as a bridesmaid or a little groomsman Grin

PotatoPolly · 13/01/2014 11:12

ahhh last night we were looking though our wedding cards, made me all gooey! we had navy as a theme with the odd bits of silver and vintage pink flowers, was quite impressed with myself! I'd love to be a wedding planner Smile
feel like I've exploded overnight again, looking like I've got a football up my top... anyone else getting growth spurts?!

Spirael · 13/01/2014 11:30

You're all making me feel old... It's my 10 year wedding anniversary next year. Grin

Ditsydebs · 13/01/2014 13:45

Lol Spirael it's my 11 year anniversary in a few months, I feel very old! Advice to those planning a wedding only invite the people you want there and don't feel pressured into inviting distant relatives!
Can't believe I will be 24 weeks at the end of the week time is flying by and with my eldest leaving primary school in June looks like May and June will be a busy few months!
