Just out of question for those with back problems, did you see a osteopath privately or did you talk to your midwife about it and get a referral. My back hurt with DS2 and saw an osteopath privately and it helped a bit. I used to find that the more I did, in terms of house work, picking up kids, etc, my back would ache more. But now it just seems to hurt a few hours after I get up in the morning. I'm afraid I'll probably be crippled by the time the baby comes.

Debz99 · 18/08/2006 12:27

That's how mine started fatbetty !

Can only walk for about 15 mins now without being in complete agony for the rest of the day.

Midwife was very sympathetic but said I basically have to grin and bear it, take paracetamol (don't touch the pain) and wear a harness well maternity belt which are only made for ladies up to a size 16 err... no good for me ! So I'm being measured for a very large tubigrip that does the same job ! If I go to the osteo I will have to pay!!

Kaybee7777 · 18/08/2006 14:34

Afternoon
HC,Charlee and mygirllolipop - every kind of trousers just seem to slip down on me! I have also tried belly belts on my normal trousers but they don't seem to work very well. If I wear a belt it is too tight on the bump, especially when I sit down! I guess I too should just give up and live in tracksuit pants!

fatbetty · 18/08/2006 14:37

Had a feeling that I'm going to have to grin and bear it. Do the maternity belts really help? It's just my lower back that is causing the discomfort and dread to do anything like housework (oh darn!). But it's better if I keep moving. Once I sit down, that's when the real problems start.

Charlee · 18/08/2006 14:37

Kaybee i love my tracksuit bottoms! you can get some maternity ones in Asda for about £6 each v. comfortable i live in mine at home

Kaybee7777 · 18/08/2006 14:51

I didn't know Asda did maternity stuff!!?! Must check it out next time I am near one - thanks

Debz99 · 18/08/2006 15:31

Apparently Fatbetty the belts are a help although some have said they are not too comfy, it takes the weight off your back, think the tubigrip thingy I'm beoing measured for on Monday will be quite comfy if not warm !!!

It hurts me to walk, sit for long periods or lay down now!!!! especially now yy front pubic bone has gone too, feels like someone has kicked me in the crutch not very lady like I know but it the only way to describe it LOL !

NatalieJane · 18/08/2006 15:31

Hello everyone

Has anyone else got this horendous weather? I can't believe we are in the middle of August, with the lights on inside because it is so blooming dark! I have just spoken to my mum who lives down south and she is having a good storm, with some sunny patches inbetween, is anywhere actually sunny and warm???!

Maternity clothes, I am very embarressed to admit that I am on my second lot size wise, grew out of the ones that were my pre-pregnancy size, and am now down to 2 pairs of trousers, and a skirt that I can still comfortably wear in the next size up!

The baby has been fairly quiet in the day time recently, but come night time, he certainly makes up for it!! Felt like he was trying to push his foot through my cervix last night, and it wasn't very comfortable!!

Has anyone found a good maternity coat? I have a jacket which is fine for when it is just a bit blowy, but can't seem to find a proper coat that would keep me dry anywhere. We are stuck in the house once it starts raining, because none of my old coats fit around me, poor DS has hardly seen the outside world for the last couple of weeks because of the weather!

Hope everyone is doing OK? TC xxx

Debz99 · 18/08/2006 15:47

Hi NJ It's been sunny here in Kent although saying that the clouds have just come over and is a bit dark now may get a storm later !

fatbetty · 18/08/2006 15:53

Debz, I haven't heard of the tubigrip. Where do you get one of those? I don't feel like my bump is so huge and heavy, people say I'm quite small (even though I think they are being polite). I'd probably be surprised by the difference a belt made.

NJ, it's sunny at times in Surrey with dark clouds looming and threatening rain. Saw some cute maternity coats on the US Gap interent site, but don't know if they ship over here. Wish Gap did maternity over here.

Debz99 · 18/08/2006 15:59

I'm being measured for one at the hospital midwife has referred me! Not sure if you can buy them though !

fatbetty · 18/08/2006 16:06

My GP and MW would probably just tell me that it's the joys of pregnancy and to deal with it. Have an appt with MW in 2 weeks and will ask then about it.

Debz99 · 18/08/2006 16:10

You can buy the belts from blooming marvellous it that's any help but as I say it only goes up to size 16 !

NatalieJane · 18/08/2006 16:16

Have you looked on eBay? Sometimes I think if you can'tfind what you are looking for on there, it can't be got!!!

Very of the sunshine you girls have got, even if it is only a little bit!!

Anyone else in for the long haul with BB tonight?

eeyoreuk · 18/08/2006 17:58

hi all
sorry not posted for a while hope things start to improve with yours pains fat betty and debz.
I am going for a 4d scan tomorrow but my mum has just phoned to say something was on tv this morning that they were not recommended by doctors did anybody see this??

I will watch bb tonight but to be honest i think i will be glad to see the end of it this time - if i could get my hands on nicki i think i would drown her and put us all out of our misery.

hope you all have a good weekend
eeyore

saralou100 · 18/08/2006 18:06

me got back pain too, and my inner thighs hurt when i walk midwife says grin and bear it, the joys of being pregnant type of response!!! just can't be bothered to do anything with it hurting, especially as it only makes it worse!!! i got a support belt from physio, never wear it, most uncomfortable horrible thing, so i can't be suffering too much!!

debz, my siter had spd and thats exactly how she described her pain.. not pretty!!

nj, just to rub it in, we have had a lovely sunny day all day here, had a massive storm at 2 in the morning, started out a bit dodgy but it's been hot all day!! can't wait for bb tonight, it's the highlight of my week (the low point being footie season kicks of tomorrow - goodbye saturdays/weekends, hello to constant sky sports news)

Never fear Saralou, X Factor starts tomorrow!! 100000000000 times better than BB - and by the time the X Factor winner is declared all of our lives will have been turned upside down by babies, probably to the point where we won't care in the least who wins!!

eeyoreuk · 18/08/2006 18:43

Hi yes i am looking forward to the start of the x factor aswell eeyoreuk

saralou100 · 18/08/2006 18:53

Charleesunnysunsun · 18/08/2006 19:00

Evening all.

I have changed my name as apparently im very sunny

We have had rain today with a few sunny spell's still quite hot though. We got our chimney swept and we haven't used it since we moved in so im hoping it turns cold so i can light it! I love open fires

I think im begining to get SPD i have had crippling back pain this afternoon and a pain down below but like some of you have said my midwife is bound to say get on with it! She's that kind of woman.

I can't wait for X-Factor to start although i haven't forgiven Louis Walsh for not putting that young boy through last year i think his name was James, the 16yr old who looked like Michael Jackson, i thought he was sweet!

I know someone who got through to the television auditions this yr so she may be on, i really don't like her TBH so i don't care if she get through or not. at my bitchy attitude!

It's funny to think this time last year i was getting ready to fly to New Zealand to live and now im back and settled having another baby it seems only yesterday.

saralou100 · 18/08/2006 19:12

charlee, nosey moment, why did it not work out? similar thing, next week it's 4 years since i qualified as a nurse and left london and everyone i love to move to bournemouth!! in that time i've met dp, bought a house, got a dog had a child and am cooking no2, my life has been a whirlwind in those 4 years!!! no wonder i'm knackered!!

Charleesunnysunsun · 18/08/2006 19:16

Don't worry im as nosey as they come! Lol

I went with my DS and DP and my mum. We went over there on a work visa, Mum got seriously ill and had an emergency heart op on xmas eve so she couldn;t work which left her visa void so she had no choice but to travel back. We could have stayed but i couldn't let her come home alone with no one to care for her, plus living in NZ was origionaly her dream not mine and it didnt seem right to stay without her as were very close.

I dont regret it though it was an amazing experience and like i say were settled again now.

saralou100 · 18/08/2006 19:36

thats sad about your mum... but their was a happy ending as you said!!!!

Kaybee7777 · 19/08/2006 20:18

Hi Charlee, where in NZ were you living? Just wondering as I am from there myself (and can't wait to go back!!)

velcrobott · 19/08/2006 22:34

All of you SPD sufferer I can only tell you to see an osteopath (who is experienced in pregnant women)... for a variety of reasons (not least I suffered badly with number 2) I know osteopaths sort these things out FAR better than physios.... but physios are free on NHS. I was told that osteopaths are covered by private insurance if you are refered by GP.
So don't suffer needlessly!
Luckily for me this pregnancy SPD still hasn't struck,.. it did at 6 weeks with DD!!!!!

Spinach - I too have EDS! (Not sure you're reading this thread often)
