Drugs:

A technical site, but lists side affects and contra-indications. You have to register, but it's legit..

Type in 'pregnancy' in the search box, or type in the name of the drug to see whether it mentions anything about suitability for pregnancy!

Good info on induction drugs....

Good Afternoon everyone, we're back. How much chatting has everyone done!! I was expecting to come back to a new thread actually considering how much yacking we were doing before I went away.

Welcome to the newbies hope things are going well for you. Hope everyone that has been on their hols too has had a good time. We had a good time but I was ready to come home when we did - but managed to come home on the day the terrorist stuff kicked off, fortunately we were only delayed by about an hour and a half so think we did really well considering some of the delays people have had.

My bump seems to have doubled in size and the shocked looks on peoples faces are priceless. Fidget has decided that they want to practise their footy skills or something similar all day so its getting quite uncomfortable some days.

I went for a growth scan yesterday and this one is definately bigger than DS - I frightened myself and followed it through to 42 weeks. If it stays on the same growth curve it will end up as over 9lbs . DS was only 7lb 5ozs - another that size will do nicely thank you.

Hope everyone is ok and I'll catch up on the next couple of days

H x

Been to Midwife, she couldn't be bothered to call for my GTT results so gonna have to wait !!! Been officially diagnosed with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and Symphis Pubis Dysfunction ... nice ! and yes the ache in my pubic bones is all related to SPD got to go to the Hospital to be fitted with splints for my Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and possibly a belt for SPD as the ones they sell only fit unfat ladies LOL ! Oh and she procedded to tell me that worse case senario I could be in a wheelchair at the end but followed it up with, you will probably have crutches at least !

HopingCat · 16/08/2006 16:15

Welcome back to those who have been away.

Bethbe - I have seen threads in the pregnancy section on heartburn. Maybe start your own if there isn't a current one.

Debz - your mw sounds like a straight talker, unlike mine who is lovely but always talks like everything is 'wonderful' and you wonder if she'd tell you honestly if things weren't right. I hope you don't need crutches or a wheelchair and that you miraculously start to feel better, but if that doesn't happen then at least you can say you've only got 10-14 weeks left of being so uncomfortable. I hope it's one of the pregnancy complaints that disappears instantly when the baby arrives.

Debz99 · 16/08/2006 16:48

I have a team of 4 midwives on my unit and they are all the same quite straight talking which I am pleased about, although as you say other health type people usually flounce around the issues, it was just a bit of a shock that's all !! Apprently the CTS goes after a few weeks after baby is born but SPD can go on for sometime after dependant on the severity ! Ho hum ... the joys of pregnancy.

staceym11 · 16/08/2006 17:41

been trying on my make up for the wedding, hopefully will be ok as seem to have done well today. only problem is cant quite work out how to do my hair how i want it! lol, im being a pain to myself!

i hope that everyone is feeling ok, theres a lot of uncomfortable people out there, hope you all manage to rest up and feel a bit better!

Charlee · 16/08/2006 18:46

ahhhhhhhh comfort

Im wearing my new (well second hand) maternity jeans with a big comfy puch for my ever expanding baby belly!

I'm strongly advising pouched trousers if you dont already have some, sooooooo much more comfortable than under bump trousers IMHO.

Hi everyone
Haven't posted on here for ages... been away and all.
Debz99 On SPD... i had it very badly last time and I want to suggest you look at seeing an osteopath as they are far more efficient at relieveinbgthe pain than physios !

This time no SPD at all..... though I was told I'd probably have it again

fatbetty · 17/08/2006 10:12

Delia, I had swollen ankles when I came back from our holiday. I think it was due to the long haul flight and that I didn't get up enough and walk around. My ankles were back to normal in a couple of days. Hopefully you'll be the same, but it's not a nice feeling. Glad to hear that you had a good trip and that you weren't too put out by the airline problems.

saralou100 · 17/08/2006 10:50

hiya!!! nice to see everyone had good holidays! i'm tired and want a holiday now!!! 8 more weeks till i start mat leave (and counting) maybe i'll catch up on some sleep then!! can't sleep these last 2 nights, tossing and turning, can't get comfortable and when i do someone ruins it wether it's ds crying or dp snoring or the dog woofing their seems to be a conspiracy against me getting a good night sleep, even beanie's getting in on the act, was doing the most strange movement in their last night, thought it was gonna come bursting through my belly like thst scene in alien!!!

I have thought about aqua natal classes too, but not sure how to find out if there are any in my area.
I bought some maternity jeans yesterday, and they are comfy, but due to the stretch material they seem to want to slip down all the time - very inconvenient!
My bump still doesn't seem that big, I don't know where baby is hiding in there! Though I am tall and do have a long torso so I guess he has enough room for now.
I haven't had any swollen ankles yet but do get the stitch quite a lot when I walk anywhere..

HopingCat · 17/08/2006 14:58

Kaybee - My midwife mentioned aqua natal classes to me. I also found that my local swimming pools have timetables on the internet.

I have the same problem with maternity jeans. I have quite a big bump now, but my jeans still fall down. Earlier on I thought they were doing it because I wasn't very big, but it doesn't seem to be improving. I've tried different styles (over bump with elastic at sides, over bump with panel at front) but it hasn't made much difference.

Charlee · 17/08/2006 15:03

Kaybee lucky you! My bump seem's huge although my mum say's im not nearly as big as last time.

I have brought a new bra today, not an actual maternity bra but its got no underwire and its so much more comfy, i have also purchased a packet of possibly the worlds biggest pants! Passion Killers or what!

I also got a pair of lovley cotton front opening pj's for when i need to feed, our local tesco is having a clothes sale can you tell?

I am in quite a bit of pain today and last night, its like the baby has dropped as far as it can go and right above my pubic area really hurts like sharp pains especially when i need a wee its agony not when im acutally going but when my bladders full.

I was in tesco toilets today and there was a boy in there must have been about 8-9 and he said rather loudly that his mum had to stand outside the cubicle incase the 'really fat lady' (meaning me) came in and watched him. charming!

My jeans i got have a kind of elastic belt inside with a button to mke them bigger and smaller maybe you could find some like that??

HopingCat · 17/08/2006 16:41

I have got jeans with the elastic/button thing at each side, but they still fall down. I put them on the tightest setting and they are too tight across my bump, so I loosen them and they slip down. Wearing a belt helps but the baby kicks when there is pressure on him/her. Think I'll just stop moaning and keep wearing the 2 pairs of trousers I am actually comfy in.

Delia · 17/08/2006 16:44

FB thanks for the positive vibes on the ankles, have had them up all day to day and am happy to say they are only twice their normal size at the moment! DH thinks that the difference in altitude might have had something to do with the swelling. Still can't get my rings back on my fingers though.

Hope those that have also been away are well rested, everyone keeps telling me how tired i'm going to get now were nearly there - is this supposed to be encoragement . Am finding it hard to imagine that in 12 weeks there is going to be a tiny little baby in the house i'm asking DH constantly to sort out the study cause otherwise baby wont have a room till its 10 years old .
