Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
beepbeep · 15/08/2006 12:55

Hi all, been away for ages staying with parents and at friend's wedding etc. STILL haven't exchanged on our new house, though we're meant to be moving next Thurs (DP keeps making comments about sitting on roadside with a sign saying 'puppy and pregnant girlfriend to support' - was amusing at start, but now REALLY NOT!!).

Re belly bars, I was asked to take mine out at 20 week scan, tummy looks really bare (& big!) without it as had it for about 10 years.

Bub hadn't been moving much for last few days so got heart beat checked yesterday - was 158bpm - I've read that if it's above 140bpm it's a girl - does anyone actually believe this? or is it just another old wives tale?

Good luck all with scans shortly, congrats to all who've had them, and those with housing nightmares - I know EXACTLY how you feel!!

Loulou000 · 15/08/2006 13:21

Weirdbird, er, why is sex out? Don't answer if that's too nosy!

Welcome, Indith. I know what you mean. Going to have to do some cold-weather-maternity shopping very soon. Pregnancy should be short enough to fit into one clothing season, ideally.

Erm, no, don't believe it really Beepbeep.

Elibean · 15/08/2006 14:49

Loulou and Castles, sorry to hear it but also glad I'm normal with the tired-and-emotional stuff
I had an orgasm in my sleep with dd1 pregnancy, so far no luck this time...but plenty of vivid dreams, some better than others...!
Weirdbird, stupid GP indeed. I'm glad the hospital gave you something - I was on Omeprazole last time, via the OB. Worked really well, but Zantac is proving enough at the moment so I'm holding off on the big guns for now.
Managed 30 lengths of pool today, so am feeling very pleased with myself in spite of having followed that up with a big fat Teriyaki burger...

jabberwocky · 15/08/2006 15:44

I'm wearing a ring right now, but have heard they cause more stretching? My OB recommended this site Last time I took my ring out for the c-section and then didn't put it back in for 3 weeks. A little membrane of skin had grown in by that time and I had to go down and get it opened up. They used something that looked like a large knitting needle. So, this time, no matter how repulsed I am by my jiggle post-op belly I am getting it back in ASAP.

weirdbird · 15/08/2006 15:47

Loulou000 - There is a thread in the Pregnancy section, but basically I have started having contractions twice in the last 2 weeks, so am on virtual bed rest at present and of course that means I am now extra horny!

Elibean - Am on Ranitidine 3 times a day, which is working well to keep the acid in my stomach, though I can't lie down at all, even water just comes rushing back up, and have found that bending over for any length of times causes the same problem.

Am very pleased that it has been diagnosed as it gives me hope that I will be able to drink orange juice again once I am no longer pregnant!

spinamum · 15/08/2006 15:53

Congrats on all the scans. I'm used to the idea of another boy (almost) I keep finding stuff that I've done or decided that were girl orientated(sorry that's a bit confusing) When my building work is FINALLY finished and get to the fun bit of decorating, I noticed in my scrapbook(SAD and PREGNANT, what do you expect?) that CHILD ROOM 2 is quite a girly affair even though I planned a neutral babyish room. I will state here again as I did on previous thread that I'm not very girly really, but my plans for my tomboy aren't panning out. (I just realised an irony)The boy name I'm most attached to at the mo is Tom(So i get my Tom,boy instead!) Sorry I'm not sounding over IT am I?

With regards to my buildingwork I am REALLY cool and calm again. DH and I have decided to go with flow. If it gets too dusty/nightmarish/homocidal I'll just decamp to my dads in Ireland with my two boys (DH's face lit up at bit too much at that suggestion!)Anyone know what age is minimum for babies to fly?

I hope you others in house hell have had some good news and/or are feeling OK.

Just off to down some more Gaviscon!

....And I'm not experiencing any orgasisms here I have totally gone off sex and I'm going to have to get back into soon or else my DH will really feel objectived by early Dec. when he gets on my curry, long walks, etc list.

spinamum · 15/08/2006 15:57

I really really really love DS2B BTW. The girl thing can wait. My friend's mum at school had two girls among her EIGHT!(Finished on twins-never ever say "Just one more darling" unless you're OK with two was my last MWs motto!)

jabberwocky · 15/08/2006 15:57

wb, sorry to hear about the bedrest. Perhaps a good chance to work on a baby journal?

spinamum, we did a huge remodeling project when I was pg with ds and I was quite overwhelmed with it all. This time around we are doing more remodeling, not quite as extensive, but still inconvenient - down to one bathroom atm, etc. It is lovely when it's all done though

spinamum · 15/08/2006 16:01

sorry WB, crossed threads! Hope you're OK. My friend had the contraction thing in her first pg at the same time as you. Everything was fine, but it drove her mad having to rest all the time.

spinamum · 15/08/2006 16:05

thanks jabber! I'm clinging to the "it'll be lovely" thing at the moment. I think deep down DH and I quite like the notion of "multi tasking" our major events. But only when they're over!

jabberwocky · 15/08/2006 16:08

Oh, and forgot to mention that I gained 7 pounds this month! eeek! I'm up to 16 total now and if I'm going to stay within my goal of 25 that will take some work (and maybe a miracle...)

weirdbird · 15/08/2006 16:33

So am I the only insane person (though am due on Boxing Day!!!) who is planning Xmas now?

I have already started buying and wrapping my Xmas presents and hope to have it all done and ready by the beginning of November.

It would be easier to cancel Xmas this year, but I dont think my 4 year old would forgive me! and I dont want the normal last minute organising if I have just given birth or am the size of a house to worry about...

Or am I just mad

jabberwocky · 15/08/2006 16:35

You're mad

Indith · 15/08/2006 17:20

Nope really not mad.

Moving into new flat mid September, want to sort out all furniture and any bits of decorating before lectures start again in October (the joys of being a student). Given that I'm due 28th family is coming to us for Christmas so need to have that fairly planned early on too else we'll be doing all that while getting essays in for Christmas deadlines and being the size of a house! I think a rather large amount of my shopping will be done online this year!

Loulou000 · 15/08/2006 17:30

I have been wondering about trying to get Christmas sorted early. But in reality I go to work, go home exhausted, eat and go to bed. At weekends I look at houses. I need to move house, get a car, do antenatal classes, and sort out christmas on top of still going to work until mid-October, and that's if I leave the earliest I possibly can.

I think everyone might get a little basket of Molton Brown goodies and that will have to do.

Loulou000 · 15/08/2006 17:31

Sorry for the self pity. Am finding it hard to cope with always being so tired.

magnolia1 · 15/08/2006 17:46

Not such good news about my scan after all
Had a phone call today from the Sister at the Antenatal clinic, I should have had a consultation after the scan because The placenta is completely blocking the Exit (placenta previa) And because I am nearly 22 weeks, have had a placenta abruption last time and I have preemie labours I am at a high risk of severe complications

Sorry to sound so melodramatic but FOR FUCKS SAKE I JUST WANT A NORMAL PREGNANCY FOR ONCE!!!!

Dd1 was ot growing well so had her early, the twins were early and dd4 was very premature, nearly died and I just thought this time would be different.

So consultant said he doesn't think it will move out of the way completely, another scan at 30 weeks but if any bleeding before then its hospital bed rest I have 4 other kids for gods sake!!!!
And to top it all

NO SEX AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry needed to vent

castlesintheair · 15/08/2006 18:42

Oh poor you Magnolia! I really hope everything is ok. Total bed rest would be a nightmare for you with 4 (nice idea though, eh?!). If it's any consolation, I'm not getting any nookie ... but that's out of choice

jabberwocky · 15/08/2006 19:19

magnolia, so sorry to hear this. Do you have a friend or relative who can come help out with the kids?

magnolia1 · 15/08/2006 19:42

Yeah I have family nearby and they all go back to school soon so hopefully life can run smoothly for a bit

jabberwocky · 15/08/2006 19:51

That's good!

beepbeep · 15/08/2006 20:35

magnolia, am so sorry to hear bout complications. only consolation i suppose is that at least they've spotted it & will keep an eye on you - whatever that means?! take care

accessorizequeen · 15/08/2006 21:01

Oh, dear Magnolia, that sounds awful, was going to post tonight to congratulate you on a boy at last . Can't believe all four of yours have come early and now problems again. You vent all night long!!!
I feel pathetic for getting worried about stupid little things when so many of you having major issues, I really hope it all comes right house-wise, scan-wise and everything else wise soon!
Beep, aren't you getting married next month or have I got confused?

OP posts:
Elibean · 15/08/2006 21:24

Just posted to you on the pregnancy thread, Magnolia...glad to see you have family nearby, at least, but still a real bummer. I'll cross everything for an upwardly mobile placenta for you...

Weirdbird, I have been thinking Xmas too: its dd's third birthday on the 22nd, and with dd22b due on the 8th (and a likely section) I have to at least sort stuff out for dd1 in advance! Can't say I've actually done anything, but have been thinking Ranitidine is the same as Zantac, you are my heartburn twin: also sleeping on piles of pillows and getting reflux at drop of a hat. I take less Zantac in the morning, and a bigger dose in the evening to get through the night.

Loulou, I have days when I feel exactly like that - its depressing being tired all the time, you're not alone. xxx

spinamum · 16/08/2006 09:24

Magnolia, You poor thing. Makes all my whinging seem irrelevant. You take care. Vent as much as you want!
