Urghh... I've gone home from work sick today and I feel so guilty about it!
Sad
I feel really sick and dizzy and they seemed fine about it, but I just feel like I'll get into trouble. I work in a busy shop so its not like I could have just hidden in a corner.

Ditsydebs · 18/12/2013 14:32

By this time tomorrow we should know if we are team pink or team blue!! Anxious, nervous and excited all in one, just want to know all is ok with baby. We have decided to take our children along with us and then head to the shops straight after to purchase our first baby items!! Thinking team blue but after two girls I won't be surprised if we are expecting another little princess! Just hoping my hubby won't be disappointed if we are team pink! Will let u all know!

PixieBumbles · 18/12/2013 15:04

Had my second scan today and the consultant is happy. Everything is in the normal range and she really couldn't see what the sonographers I saw last week were worried about! Although she was very careful to make sure we knew that no-one can ever say for sure that our baby is 100% healthy and developmentally 'normal' until after it's born, which we thought was pretty obvious really.

It's a huge weight off our minds anyway. And she double checked that we are definitely having a boy! She said could very clearly see meat and two veg (which was almost as good as the sonographer's comment last week of "I've seen a lot of willies, and that's a willy!")

Xavielli · 18/12/2013 16:47

Fantastic news pixie! Mine is tomorrow morning, starting to get excited now.

impatientlywaiting · 18/12/2013 17:16

Brilliant news Pixie. Glad that all is well.

LongTailedTit · 18/12/2013 18:36

It's so lovely reading about all these scans! :)

I'm kind of over my 'gender disappointment' already amazingly, DH was out last night and I was v emotional and cried all evening while demolishing a box of Frosty Fancies, then TinyTit decided a bout of gymnastics was in order! I saw him move really really clearly a few times! Grin It's like he knew how to snap me out of it. Yay!
Having thought about it a lot, I realised I wasn't actually disappointed that TinyTit's a boy, I was just sad that I'll never have a daughter. We're definitely stopping at two DC (DH has already said he'll have a vasectomy in a few years) and tbh if we had a surprise DC3 it'd prob be a boy too!

All the big movements are on my left side, just south-east of my belly button (if that makes sense), and so clear now. I still can't figure out which end is which tho!

It's very different this time around, DS didn't seem real to me until he arrived, whereas I can imagine DS2 already.

Waffling on again, sorry! Time for a Brew

Hezbean · 18/12/2013 19:29

Hi everyone. Lovely news about all the scans and boys and girls. And good luck Ditsy and Xav for your scans tomorrow. Exciting!

Pixie glad everything went well today. Lol on the willies comment!

Moomin you take it easy now! Glad everything is ok with baby Moomin and that the show is going so well too.

Bushprincess - ouch, hope you're OK after your tumble and the flight home is smooth sailing - fingers crossed for an upgrade!!

LongTailedTit - your scan photo on FB is amaaaaazing!!! No doubting it's a boy whatsoever. That's definitely one for the family album :-) Glad you're all good with another boy now. Brothers will be lovely. What's the age gap?

Sorry to anyone I haven't mentioned! Just catching up. I'm the only one left full time at work as everyone else finished for Christmas last Friday so I've had a bit of a busy one today (despite working from home). Was hoping that this week working from home would be nice and chilled but not so far!

Our 20 week scan isn't til 3rd Feb. Seems like ages away and I can't wait to see the little monkey again. Plan is not to find out the gender unless it gives us a flash.

DH rang me earlier to tell me he went up to a lady in John Lewis today to ask her about her pram!! We're looking at the Uppababy Cruz and he saw she had one - she was apparently lovely and showed him how it all folded up and said she thinks it's brilliant. Think he's getting a bit excited, bless... We looked at a potential new car at the weekend as ours is a 3 door so would be v difficult to get the car seat in.

Squiffie · 18/12/2013 19:31

Oh dear me.... You know you're pregnant when the Salvation Army brass band playing 'Silent Night' has you close to tears in the middle of Tesco! Xmas Hmm Xmas Blush

LongTailedTit · 18/12/2013 20:10

Grin Hezbean
There will be three years exactly if TinyTit stays for the full duration - he's due on 3rd May, and DS's birthday is 5th of May, but he was 4 weeks early.
Consultant said there's a good chance this one could be early too, but I really don't want to be in NICU territory so have my fingers firmly crossed that he stays in past 36weeks!
I have another scan to check growth at 32wks, and tbh I'll be 'resting' a lot after that - I went for a 3hr stroll in a forest the day before my waters broke with DS and have always wondered if that's what triggered it!

rebeccax2 · 18/12/2013 20:16

Hey all. Having a wobble. I'm 18 + 2 and no flutters yet. I sometimes think I have them. I do get a lot of moments of pressure, but it feels so random and muscular it can't be it.

Anyone else still waiting?

Also on the weight front I've gained 7 pounds, but 5 of those were in the first 10 weeks, so very slow now. xx

LongTailedTit · 18/12/2013 20:42

rebecca I honestly couldn't recognise movement until about 18wks with my first, and for weeks and weeks after I often thought I was imagining it. This time around I spotted the first flutters around 12wks amazingly, but plenty of 2nd+ timers don't feel them that early either.
Do you know the position of your placenta? If it's anterior that muffles movement I think? Apparently mine's right up at the top, so no wonder i can feel him so well this time! Even so, I tend to only notice him when I'm sitting still, which there's been precious little of today.

Hope you feel something soon to put your mind at rest.

On the other topic, I've no idea how much weight I've gained as I threw my scales out - they were over half a stone out and wouldn't calibrate! So all this time I've been thinking I was a lot lighter than I really am... Blush

rebeccax2 · 18/12/2013 20:48

Thanks for the reassurance longtailedtit

I'm going to try and concentrate a bit on it tonight and see if anything happens. I have a strong heartbeat on my doppler so I know the little mite is there, but i have a very small bump.

Okay, stopping worrying now and putting a film on. Love you gals. x

impatientlywaiting · 18/12/2013 20:49

Rebecca I'm a first timer and didn't feel any movement til about 19 weeks.

SarahJinx · 18/12/2013 20:53

Rebecca, I had my scan yesterday and found out that I have an anterior placenta (a low one too, which means additional scans later) but I'm not feeling much either, so it was good to know. I'm 20 weeks, with my first I felt him clearly from 16 weeks,Mathis time just a couple of minor twitches so far. If heartbeat is nice and clear then redheads its placental, position for you too?

Great scan news from everyone, we're firmly team yellow! Glad you're ok Moomin.

Choppa · 18/12/2013 21:14

Hey all

Loving all the good scan news.

Can someone add me to the Facebook page please? www.facebook.com/michelle.lane.980

Thanks! Xx

Choppa · 18/12/2013 21:23

Rebecca....I didn't feel anything with DS1 until after 20 weeks which felt so late! I'm not sure what the position of the placenta was.

LTT... Completely get what you mean about loving your boy but being a bit sad about never having a daughter. I spent a couple if days thinking odd things like I would never get to go wedding dress shopping with my daughter or buy little girl tights??? Totally irrational but how I felt all the same. I think finding out about DS2 ahead of time will really help me and I feel fine about it now. I'm more bothered about how everyone else will react to our boy 2 (we haven't told anyone yet) as they seem obsessed with the possibility that we might have a girl. It's so annoying. Saw a family acquaintance in town who spouted a load of old wives tales about how to get a girl...why?? Anyway, our DS1 is SO excited about his brother to be and that makes me so happy.

On another subject... Is anyone thinking of a home birth?

Xx

McBaby · 18/12/2013 21:32

With my DD I had an anterior placenta and felt no movement till nearly 20 weeks but then would have days at a time until the end where I felt nothing despite scans and monitoring showing she was very active.

This time I have a posterior placenta and have had constant movement since 17 weeks and can see my bump moving so very different to last time.

Jellymum1 · 18/12/2013 21:49

Mcbaby i already have a girl and am finding out sex if i can at my scan on friday. Everyone has made me feel like its a dissapointing outcome if i have another girl. I would like a son of course i would but i would like a daughter too it really doesnt matter does it but evryone does put loads of bloody pressure on about having one of each. I feel like i will be dissapointed now because everyones gone on sooooooo much about how it "must" be a boy this time!

Choppa · 18/12/2013 22:02

Yep...understanding the pressure jelly. I think it's more for us as there aren't many other kids in the family and this was prob my parents only chance for a grand daughter. In the end each child is different and I know once baby is here he will be so loved :)

LongTailedTit · 18/12/2013 22:08

Choppa thank you, I'm not a girly girl, and was v much a tomboy growing up, but it's those small things like you say that give me a bit of a pang - as much as obviously all children are individuals, men and women are fundamentally different as are our relationships with them.
It really didn't help that everyone thought this one was a girl, even the bloody midwife said so! Hmm

I had a couple of little dresses put aside that I'll now give to friends (happily) and will indulge my dressmaking habit for my nieces instead. It's surprisingly difficult to find nice simple patterns for boys clothes, they all look a bit yoghurt-weavery! So easy to run up a summer dress in comparison.

Re home birth, I was booked for one last time, but DS turned up early. I have considered it this time, but am leaning towards hospital now, it would prob be more convenient in a lot of ways.
Tempted to ask for the kit anyway in case I change my mind nearer the time, the worst that will happen is I return it unopened!

rebeccax2 · 18/12/2013 22:10

Oh you ladies are so good at the reassurance thing. Thank you. xx

I am going to have my birth at Hommerton Hospital. I think I get a medal for bravery on that one. :-)

Christmas party tomorrow. I'm off to get some sleep so I at least look rested if nothing else! x

mumof2aimingfor4 · 19/12/2013 07:00

rebecca I agree with the other lovely ladies. First time round I didnt feel a thing until about 20/21 weeks. 2nd dd I felt little flicks at about 19 weeks and this time round I felt baby from about 12/13 weeks (I was also slimmer before I fell pregnant this time round if that makes any difference).

I would love a home birth but can't as I carry strep B so it's intravenous antibiotics for me. Plus my babies have a habit of coming early, luckily both times my waters broke when I was about to stand up off the loo after having a wee Hmm

We have our gender scan on Saturday, nobody not even my other half has put pressure on that he wants a boy (he actually wants another girl, we'll see about that when we have three hormonal teenagers!)
I am the only one that is putting on pressure for a boy. I desperately want a little man. Both my girls are daddy's girls! I want a mummy's boy. In the not going to get bullied sense.
Even family have said who cares as long as its healthy. They're all so bloody diplomatic!

Xavielli · 19/12/2013 07:25

I'd love a home birth but I'm high risk for more than one reason this time. And my house is far too small

Spirael · 19/12/2013 09:29

I had and have an anterior placenta and last time around I didn't notice any movements until around 23 weeks, so it's perfectly normal to not feel anything yet! This time around I've noticed a few tiny flutters, but that's mostly because I know what I'm feeling for now. I'd have just ignored them last time around as gas bubbles or muscle twitches.

I had a homebirth last time and I'm planning on the same again this time around. Different home, but actually means we'll have more room and that the birthing pool doesn't need to go in the conservatory! I've already booked my birth pool. I have a feeling it's going to be tricky to prevent DD from using it as her personal swimming pool, however!

DD was a bit early at 37+3, but not so early that it was a problem. Hopefully this LO will arrive at around the same sort of time. I'll feel rather annoyed if they stick around until 42 weeks and have to be evicted - I'll have spent an entire extra month pregnant over last time around! Will mean I'm less likely to avoid the stretchmarks as well...

Got our scan on Saturday too, I can't wait to find out! Grin I was talking with DH about it last night and we don't really mind whether it's a boy or another girl. If anything, we're leant slightly towards hoping for another girl as we can reuse more clothes. [stingy]

Might also even up against the lots of lovely baby boys that seem to be due on this thread! Wink

Saw my MW on Monday for my 16 week appointment and got to hear the HB which was lovely. However she doesn't want to see me again now until 28 weeks! Shock Given how short my appointments have been, I may have seen a MW for less than an hour in total before I give birth this time around.

impatientlywaiting · 19/12/2013 09:34

I think I just felt the baby hiccough for the first time. Could feel it on the outside too. Ah it was lovely.
