Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 10:27

Do you still bf loki just nipple stimulation like a baby suckling is meant to encourage labour I think.

Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 10:29

No I never saw that better I hope this one goes quickly once it decides to actually start as the last 2 were approx 24 hours each lol.

PistachioTruffle · 17/11/2013 10:30

Alyssa, hope you either feel better or things kick off properly soon!

feather keep your knickers and tights on at all times just to be on the safe side, there's no way baby will be able to get out then and will have to stay put til your section date Grin

Make sure you get your prescription whisper, I can't imagine labour with a uti to be a good experience Sad

Not long now Loki! I love ikea too.

Welcome Better, I love your name!

I hope Clare has a snuggly baby now, awww!

Now, who was in charge of the FB group?

MildredH · 17/11/2013 10:42

Whisper does the FB group.

13loki · 17/11/2013 11:05

Yeah, I still breastfeed. Only to sleep. Much to the disapproval of her dentist, who then yelled at me when I asked for peer-reviewed articles that showed it would cause problems.

I did move to Sweden to get closer to IKEA! Now 20 minutes away, and joy of joys, across the road from the hospital, so I can have meatballs on the way home after baby is born. I think it may be where I choose to meet up with the other mums from work once Rufus is here, we can sit and have free coffee on weekdays, then I might be able to pick up DS from school instead of leaving him in afterschool club.

Alyssa My second I had contractions from the Thursday afternoon, start stop, had an hour of really strong, really regular contractions on the Staurday night, got in the car to go to hospital and they stopped. I was 4 cm so they said I could either stay or go home. I went home, had more stop start contractions all Saturday night and Sunday, slept with the TENS machine on Sunday night, woke up about 5:15 Monday morning, asked DH to run a bath adn get me paracetamol, ring the hospital and say we would be going in after a quick bath. While he was talking to them I had to tell him to say we weren't going in, as I could feel the waters between my legs, then within 10 minutes we had a paramedic running up the stairs, midwife on the phone screaming "tell her not to panic", me yelling at DH to turn the bath off, I couldn't deal with a flood as well. Paramedic came into room as head was delivered, ambulance made it upstairs to see me feeding DD in bed. Midwife came ages later, probably 40 minutes after Lola was born. Niggly stop start labour may end quickly Grin

Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 11:29

Ooh bloody hell loki giving birth at home with no gas and air literally scares the shit out of me Confused where you not scared having to push her out yourself with no mw? I'm very quiet etc in hospital but I don't know what I'd be like having to do it like you.

So jealous of the breast feeding, I've never managed longer than 3 weeks, I'm really hoping I can sustain this time.
I love ikea, all ds1 and 2 furniture is from there and this ones will be too lol.

clare how you doing Hun?
whisper definately make some time to get those antibiotics.

mumoftwoboysS · 17/11/2013 12:02

13loki I can relate to having an unassisted birth - except mine was outside in -2 degreees! I worried my next will be like that again- one minute you think it's not that far along, the next you're delivering!

I don't know about 13loki, alyssa but I didn't have time to be scared or think about the midwife not being there- you kind of just get on with it, your body just does it, no time to panic! Was a bit dazed afterwards!

Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 12:12

Oh no mum where where you? please don't say the car park Confused
I suppose your right, your body won't exactly let you stop pushing lol.

tmi alert I'm loosing loads of mucous every bathroom trip......come on baby get out! No pains though Hmm

13loki · 17/11/2013 12:26

Ha mum I refused to move once I knew it was too late. But if I had woken up a bit earlier we would have been in the car. It's meant to snow here in the middle of the week, and we are in the countryside, 130 meters above the hospital. Our roads probably won't get gritted the first day of snow. Our babysitter lives near the hospital, so if it's nighttime DH will have to drive down, pick her up and bring her home, then take me back down, so at least an hour/hour and a half in normal conditions.

The paramedic bought gas and air, but the tank was empty!

extracrunchy · 17/11/2013 13:40

How's it going, Clare? And Feather?

Is anyone else getting a massive increase in discharge at around 34/35 weeks?! Don't think it's waters as there's not enough of it and it's slightly milky Grin but suddenly LOADS! Also feeling dizzy and weird today but prob just sleep deprivation.

extracrunchy · 17/11/2013 13:49

Just saw Alyssa's messages! How's it going?? Sounds promising.

Whisper get your antibiotics stat!!

And hi Better Smile I'm new too!

Stom91 · 17/11/2013 15:12

crunchy I've got loads today I'm 34 weeks. Though I had loads a couple weeks ago and it turned out to be thrush (had a swab taken. Didn't have any thrush symptoms itchy etc! The mw said it was high up by my cervix which could have been why) maybe worth having it checked?
I had the pessary and it cleared and had no discharge since. Apart from last couple days it's back and smells weird which makes me think I have it again :/ (sorry tmi)

Having a lot of low pain today. Maybe baby has engaged? It just feel like a constant sharp pain recall low and feels like something is going to fall out my fanny. If that makes any sense. My back is killing :/

Have been productive and dp and I have packed most of the stuff now yay. (Dp is OCD with cleaning and once he starts something he goes right on one. Best to just leave him to it lol but takes him an age to actually get round to it lol) but at least it's done now and I haven't got to bug him to do it.

OP posts:
Stom91 · 17/11/2013 15:13

I'm actually 35 weeks lol

OP posts:
meandbumpy · 17/11/2013 15:20

So I don't read the thread for a day and all this happens, it's all kicking off!!

Hope everyone is ok and their babies are behaving and doing what you want them to.

Welcome crunchy and better Smile

Got properly booked in down here on Friday so they're ready and expecting me whenever bumpy decides come out. It's quite a different experience here, midwives are friendlier, been given much more information and have been allowed to take a look around the MLU. Gosh the birth pool looks so inviting!

Not much to report compared to others. Getting loads of BH as usual and more pressure lower down. Oh and my legs keep swelling up if I'm on my feet for too long but the right one gets bigger than the left so looks really odd! haha Confused

Having a lazy day on the sofa today so will keep popping back to see how everyone's doing. Good luck and take care ladies! x

mumoftwoboysS · 17/11/2013 15:44

Well alyssa it wasn't strictly in the car park, I managed to get to the covered walkway leading up to the hospital door. The doors were locked tho as it was 2.30am so we couldn't get in (despite phoning twice en route to say baby was coming!) oh well makes for a good story I just don't need another story like that this time!!

Roselau · 17/11/2013 15:58

ha stom as I read your comment, I thought - isn't she due the same days as me and 35 wks? then I started counting because I figured I miscounted something lol.

mum and loki you are freaking me out! I'm told labour will take ages and I will have more than enough time to get to hospital etc. but I've now heard of quite a few people with stories like yours... yikes!

well I finally had a decent sleep. not great (obviously), but decent...

alyssa let's hope this is it for you! so jealous of all of you that are getting this over with so soon, while I still have 5 weeks to go (and then some, I'm sure).

Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 16:03

I really hope you get inside this time mum I think my dp would have passed out if that was us.

chrunchy I'm fine thanks, everything is behaving as normal and has completely stopped now Confused I'm sure it'll start again tomorrow morning, I'm feeling really shaky though and just realised I've fed everyone but me so I've just eaten a kit kat while my cottage pie cooks.

I have had tons of discharge from about 34/35 weeks but it wasn't white chrunchy it was clear and exactly like when the mucous plug starts to come away. Like stom says sounds like thrush so maybe get checked Hun.

stom really wish my dp would get OCD and clean but its me who has it, he is what I call a surface cleaner, will only clean the parts of benches etc he can see but never deep cleans and includes cupboards, toaster, microwave etc.

Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 16:09

rose I just wish it would either start or stop. I've stopped getting excited now which is a shame.
I think I'll cry if I still have to wait 4 weeks until I'm 42 weeks lol

Stom91 · 17/11/2013 16:26

rose lol baby brain! I've been really good at keeping track but this last week I'm not sure If I'm coming or going lol

alyssa I can ask him 100x to do something and it'll take him ages but then once he gets the cleaning bug it whatever he's doing he gets really into it and you can't talk to him as he gets angry lol I find it's best to walk way. He moved the bed and hoovered under there today. I only wanted him to pack up his bits in the spare room .. He's done it all spare room , his wardrobe, the lounge lol. All I've got left to do is my wardrobe and the ornaments/pictures oh and the kitchen but they will take less than an hour lol
We don't move til 7th dec lol.

Am glad though as I now haven't got to bug him and it's one less thing on my mind. :)

He's now cooking my dinner. :)

clare8allthepies · 17/11/2013 16:31

Rant alert!

Had my third, yes third prostin tablet this afternoon this one better do the bloody trick! This baby is obviously not ready to come, bet if I had been left to my own devices she would have been 2 weeks late! The pains are getting worse but don't think anything is going to be happening soon.

I can only eat until midnight and in the morning if they still aren't able to break my waters then it's a 4th tablet or a section ( which I do not want!) Angry

And I've spent about 7 hours today on this bloody monitor, Grrr!

By the way hope you are all well Grin

Stom91 · 17/11/2013 16:38

clare here's hoping 3rd time lucky!! She's obviously warm in there! Lol
I'm sending you as many labour vibes as I can lol.
You'd think the curse of the thread would be on your side lol

Good luck! Think come on baby. Maybe if everyone in the thread does it she'll pop out lol xxx

OP posts:
Alyssa1978 · 17/11/2013 17:20

Come on baby, come on baby, come on baby.
Fingers crossed for you clare like you said she must not be ready but sometimes better out than in due to growth.

There's nothing worse than being stuck in bed on that monitor, I went stir crazy after one hour, so you poor thing you must be pulling your hair out?
I hope for you she comes before a section is an option Hun xx

extracrunchy · 17/11/2013 17:40

Clare do they need to monitor you constantly or can they do intermittent? Or the one attached to a carty thing that moves around with you? Moving around a bit would probably help a lot. Lying down is the worst for slowing down labour!

Featherbag · 17/11/2013 17:43

Come on baby!!! clare's baby that is! don't you get any ideas glares at belly.

Have been having contractions on and off all day but they're not going anywhere I hope . Took DS to an old steam railway today, just to have a look at the trains, but once we were there he was so happy we didn't have the heart not to take him on! He loved it, but an hour and a half in an unheated antique carriage with wooden seats was not the best idea I've ever had, I was frozen and in agony by the time we got off! I made sure DS was well wrapped up and always have jumper/coat/scarf/gloves in the bag for him, but I was in yoga pants, t-shirt and cardie and was practically blue by the time we got back in the car! DS absolutely loved it though so it was worth it, he didn't shut up about it all the way home! DH has suggested getting a year's membership, I think with 2 boys that may be a sensible idea in years to come!
