I no longer have a consultant as he discharged me from his care after telling me I was wasting his time. My hypermobility consultant has given me some anaesetics patches for my back and hips but its one a day and they don't even work :/ they do morphine ones so I think I'll ask for them after dd is here.
That would be fantastic if you could - I'm not very good at arguing my point - right now I'd even opt for a c- section I've just had enough. I have seen that a lot of people have had c-sections because of it. I know it's major surgery but I've just had enough. X

And my hypermobility consultant told me I SHOULD be seeing an obstetrician!! (Sp)

Just had a nap on the sofa and woken up to find DH had snuggled in behind me spooning me and one of our cats lying across my bump and hip purring away, thought I was feeling really warm!!!

LadyMedea · 24/11/2013 15:22

Had a quick look around and it seems the evidence is mixed on hypermobility and vaginal delivery with or without early induction vs c section. Looks like other elements of the syndrome can cause problems with epidural as well which are worth knowing. I think your best approach would be to ask for an appointment with the supervisor of midwives (do that tomorrow if you can) and go with a list of questions to challenge them in to offering a proper care plan. Your going to have to really be very assertive though so you'll need to rev yourself up. but it could be important to prevent you damaging yourself or having ineffective pain relief... If you weren't so far away I'd offer to come with you as I don't mind being a bitch.

Can you PM me with a few details of what type of hypermobility you have - is it a Ehlers-Danlos? And which type? And what are your main bits of history/current symptoms .... Then I can try and come up with a list of questions for you to present to the supervisor of midwives.

Stom91 · 24/11/2013 15:29

Yeh I'm going to call my midwife tomorrow -
I'll pm you now.

Late in but congratulations cherry - hope mine's that quick!

Decided that yesterday was virusy type of thing as bounced back today, although after getting shopping, chaging wipers on car, making lunch, mopping three floors, hoiking out the xmas decs and changing sheets on three beds I'm now out of power on the sofa with some achy lower back pain.

No good symptoms yet. Reckon I'm going to still be pregnant in February at this rate!

Chelsealady · 24/11/2013 15:58

Everyone seems like they just want baby out excluding a few of you.

Im back in hospital:(

Baby is weighing 6.5lb already at 34+6 and contractions every hour or so lasting up to 2 minutes are seriously unbearable. My consultant said your so tiny with such a big bump how do you manage in a laughy sarcastic voice! I wanted to punch her!!!! Right now i just want to give up i wish my labour would come on fully!

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 24/11/2013 16:04

I'd be very wary of asking for a c-section Stom epidurals don't always work (much like local anesthetics during dental work) so you might have to be put under with a GA.
Also induction can produce very painful and strong contractions, which you DO NOT want if you're already likely to have a fast birth.
I know it sucks, honestly I do,but think carefully about it before hand.personally,I opt to wait it out-rest whenever you can and don't do anything unessaceraly taxing on your joints.x

Stom91 · 24/11/2013 16:18

Thanks upthe just really struggling. Yeh I read that being induced that labour is more painful which I don't want.

I've got so many worries etc I just need to talk to someone.

What's getting me down too is that I know that once dd is here the pain still won't go.

The dr gave me nefopam - he said they are safe. But with all the trouble I had to get them from the pharmacy (they said they weren't recommends in pregnancy) I don't know whether to take them or not. :/

extracrunchy · 24/11/2013 16:19

Oh Chelsea hope you're ok! What have they said - do they think you're likely to have your little one early or are they trying to stop it? 2 minute contractions sound crap...

extracrunchy · 24/11/2013 16:21

Stom is there another doctor you can check the prescription with? It's so frustrating getting conflicting advice from different medical professionals when all you want is some help Sad

Crunchy they have already tried to stop my labour the first time and the result was that i just carried on having contractions. I had to come in the pains unbearable now even with the pain killers they gave me.

They just keep saying its likely baby will be here in the next couple of weeks but im not being funny I cannot be in this pain for that long! They want to keep me in until i go into labour properly I burst into tears when the Dr told me.

Stom91 · 24/11/2013 16:30

They are 30 mg 3 times a day - I thought not thats why I haven't taken any yet. He always said that tramadol was safe! Which I thought was a no aswell.
Thanks mrsshrubs &mrshrubs

Oh chelsea I hope baby comes soon but then I hope she cooks a little longer. Really sorry you're going through this. Sending you big hugs x

OP posts:
MrsShrubs · 24/11/2013 16:37

obviously he's not your doctor and doesn't know your medical history so probably go speak to a GP and go from there, especially if the pharmacy have flagged it too. I asked him would you say a pregnant woman should take it and he said no. Sorry you can't find some sort of relief at the moment Sad

Stom91 · 24/11/2013 16:41

It was my consultant that said it was fine. Got to the pharmacy and they said they don't recommend it so had to go and find my consultant to double check then she asked another pharmacist.
Everyone seems to contradict each other lol

WhisperMen · 24/11/2013 16:51

oh chelsea that sounds horrible, you poor thing.

Chelsealady · 24/11/2013 17:02

Thanks everyone for your support really does mean something. Stom i hope they sort something out for you soon also. The worst thing is being in pain knowing theres not going to be a baby at the end of it. If it was labour pains it wouldn't be as bad!

Theres a lady screaming the delivery room next to me down and the midwife just keeps saying you need to stop screaming its not helping and i can hear her swearing Ha! Poor woman but its scaring me as this is my first i dont know what iv got myself into!

MrsShrubs · 24/11/2013 17:09

Hope you're ok chelsea that would make me scared too!! Think I'll be packing some ear plugs so I can't hear anyone!

Does anyone else get tightenings across bump but with no pain?

MrsShrubs · 24/11/2013 17:09

Exactly stom its hard to know what to do for the best!!!

Stom91 · 24/11/2013 17:12

Oh gosh! Screaming is just how some people cope I guess lol I hope I'm not a screamer lol
