mumof5plusazoo · 02/11/2013 18:59

Hi Ladies,
How are you all? Have I missed much?
I have been away for 10 days and had no Internet connection, so haven't been able to post.

wispaxmas · 02/11/2013 19:05

No internet?! I wouldn't cope Grin

Seatfor5, funny that you've just linked a change bag, I decided today that having had a scan and seen a heartbeat I could justify buying one thing and it not be a jinx, so today I bought this Smile. It was recommended on mums net reviews.

I think I'm going to treat baby and me to one special purchase each month from now on (with all the big stuff hopefully on sale post-holidays).

RaRa1988 · 02/11/2013 19:12

I can't eat either MTMD . Horrible, isn't it. I've lost 5 pounds in less than a week and I've got no energy at all. Feel really really crap Sad

MTMD · 02/11/2013 19:18

Lack of energy is horrid Rara, I get dizzy every time I get up from sitting/lying down. Exhausted is too light a word for this!

What a miserable bunch we are! Thanks

jaykay987 · 02/11/2013 19:18

Ooh....I like that idea Wispa (and I love that bag. I had thought changing bags were a bit of a gimmick - they're just a normal bag with a "changing" label and an increased price tag) but this one might have me convinced! Grin

Emmazers · 02/11/2013 19:35

I've never seen a changing bag I like and they're rarely big enough for cloth nappies anyway. I love sewing though (I make nappies) so I might make myself a nice big babywearing/nappy bag with a built in wet bag though.

dramajustfollowsme · 02/11/2013 19:46

I'm really concerned as Im in a show over the next couple of weeks. 10 performances and I'll not get home until at least 11 each night. I'm working Monday and Tuesday both weeks too. I'm so sure sickness and fatigue is going to get so much worse. Confused
That was why we weren't planning on ttc until after this month but well that didn't work. Grin
However in previous pregnancies I've already been quite ill by this point so maybe I'll be ok...

Micasaestucasa · 02/11/2013 19:51

Emma I hope the weekend passes super quick for you. Sounds encouraging at least after today's check.

I am eating like a little piggy most of the time. Sweet, savoury, anything goes... then feeling really sick! Salt and vinegar squares are top on my list too at the moment.

Rara sounds pretty normal to me. It happens to me too to some extent and also did in the last pregnancy. There are some pretty gross things that happen to your body in pregnancy. Last time I had to wax my neck because I got loads of baby blond hair growing. Not a good look, although at least it was blond hair!

seatfor5 · 02/11/2013 19:54

Emma SJ bags are massive I have never had a bag like them the amount you can fit!

MTMD I know how you feel I dont want to cook or eat its horrible making things for the kids it really turns my belly!

Liquidambar · 02/11/2013 20:26

Emma hope you are well.

Seat the bags are fantastic! Love them, thanks for the link. I pretty sure I gave Ds's changing bag to charity. I definitely need to buy a new one Wink

typhoonsmum have you spoken to your GP or MW? I am sure they will be able to give you an answer.

Drama good luck for your shows! It must be exhausting, especially the first trimesters.

Sorry to hear about migraines and food aversions. I must say I am bit envy of those not putting on weight. I need to stop eating so much! But it is so strange because I crave things, eat and then feel sick afterwards - but that doesn't stop me from eating! Blush

I was checking the prices to store the umbilical cord stem cells and it continues to be so expensive. I hope they might give us a small discount as we are already clients. I honestly don't understand why there are more public services to collect the blood cells. It must be valuable for research, at least.

Liquidambar · 02/11/2013 20:28

Forgot to ask. I was looking at booking something for the summer holidays. Do you think we can take a 3 month old to the beach? I guess that as long as it stays in the shade and we avoid the hot periods it should be fine Hmm

BEEwitched · 02/11/2013 20:48

RARA, I had a glob of something that looked like aspik this morning.TMI and yuck. Confused

seatfor5 · 02/11/2013 21:45

Liquid my sister and brother took their little girls on holiday at 3 months one to Spain the other to Greece both did stay in villas though, I think that's easier :) we will be going to the isle of wight as i feel like I have gone abroad lol!

I am having some horrid pains although not in my lower front so I think wind maybe involved Blush

Anyone else contemplating the Harmony test? at 35 coming on 36 I am boarding on high risk

Mitchell2 · 02/11/2013 21:46

Hi liquid I'm thinking of that too. Have had a few people say it will be too hot, but seriously, locals have their babies in those locations and as long as you are sensible ie shade, no long periods outside without hydration and are mindful of the baby's comfort as well as yours can't see what the issue is.

MyNameIsWinkly · 02/11/2013 21:48

seat I know I won't have an amnio, I won't terminate for downs so I won't take the risks with it. I might consider the harmony test if my hospital offers it and the nuchal fold test shows an elevated risk, forewarned is forearmed and all that.

Mitchell2 · 02/11/2013 21:49

seat yes I am going to do it. Same age as you and my sister had a horrible experience re testing with nhs (who is younger but was down to 1 in 17 healthy baby in end). It's quite a cost but for us it's worth it. Not sure if going to do panorama or harmony though.

MarlenaGru · 02/11/2013 21:49

Felt like death all morning but much better this evening. Went to the fireworks and they were great as always. Dd finally in bed (she is going to struggle on Monday back to school!) and I have thrown a strop and been given some food on the sofa. Tomorrow I plan to do nothing although I am already feeling sick at the thought of work on Monday.

Sorry to hear of the bleeding but sounds promising that it is only a tiny bit.

Nice bag wispa I had a lovely one with DD but I gave it to my sil. To be honest I ended up carrying so much shite in mine! I would like to be a bit more minimalist this time!

PoppySeed2014 · 02/11/2013 21:51

liquid I would say yes so long as it isn't too boiling and you have plenty of shade. Those pop up UV tents are good...

I'm feeling mild nausea most of the time that gets better when I eat. No particular cravings, but yes - salt and vinegar squares are HEAVEN at the moment.

My main issue is being enormously podgy! I'm a size 10 normally but weigh 4 stone more than I did before I got pregnant with my 2 year old.

My tummy is already starting to feel hard and object to waistbands a bit and I'm freaking out. I think I'm going to have to try to eat v v v well and lose some weight while pregnant or not put any on at least. Otherwise I don't know what I'll end up wearing!! Plus I'm worried about diabetes (and general lack of fitness and other problems related to being too heavy).

I'm 5'4 and 14 stone, 8 lb. eek! Anyone else got a similar dilemma? I WISH someone had told me to stop eating cake when my dc was tiny...

MarlenaGru · 02/11/2013 21:54

liquid I think the problems with taking a very small baby are more around feeding (if you don't breastfeed it will be a pain in te bum to take bottles and sterilise) plus the lack of sleep (although some people have 3 month olds who sleep well. Just not me!)
DD did struggle sleeping in a particularly hot room when 5 months but a hotel would have air conditioning.

AuntPittypat · 02/11/2013 22:04

I'm thinking I need to order some maternity jeans and tights soon as mine are all feeling uncomfortably tight at the moment too, Poppy! I only had one pair of maternity jeans last time and wore them so much the inside legs are a bit worn away, definitely an excuse to go shopping for some more.

I finally got my letter today with my booking in and scan appointments - hurrah! Booking in on 18th Nov and scan on 27th. Feels so much better to have dates to look forward to. I think we'll be moving from London to NI in early December so I was anxious to get the scan in before we move so I can tell friends and family here face to face before we go and because Bludger pointed out above that you they don't do the Nuchal test in NI.

Liquid, I'd definitely book the holiday. It's so much easier when they are so little as they're so much more portable than when they're toddlers and seem to need much more stuff (and need more entertainment)! As long as you keep them in the shade and sunscreen-ed, and if you're going somewhere really hot then maybe make sure there'll be air conditioning or a fan in the bedroom.

BEEwitched · 02/11/2013 22:06

I've booked a private nuchal scan as they're not covered by the NHS in NI, if it showed problems I'd consider an amnio - it's a small risk after all and my mom had one. The Harmony test is 950£ here.

BEEwitched · 02/11/2013 22:08

Aunty, just saw your post, yeah they only do the triple test here and inky if you really ask for it, the consultant really didn't seem to like talking about it. [HMM]

jaykay987 · 02/11/2013 22:30

seat I plan on getting the harmony. It is expensive but DH and I have decided its the best route for us. I am worried though that it might not work as I am overweight. I spoke to FMC about it, and apparently it wouldn't give an incorrect result - but might give an inconclusive reading.

If in the very unlikely situation my feeling of twins is right, I wouldn't be able to get harmony anyway.

Roll on next Friday....FX I have a good scan and get good results!

Im already struggling with my waistbands. I've been really careful with what I eat, and am doing SW with the weekly weigh ins so I know I haven't gained (or lost) weight. So the expanding waistband is a mystery though I expect water bloat Im amazed my body has changed so much already and I am so early on! I bought a couple of jojo mama bebe waist band covers. I wore one with my jeans today and it was bliss - I could breath! Grin

liquid a holiday sounds amazing. We normally book our holidays a year inadvance but think we'll leave it last minute this year to see how we feel.

AuntPittypat · 02/11/2013 22:33

£950 for the Harmony test in NI?! I don't know how much it costs elsewhere but surely it'd be cheaper to jump on a plane and have it done over here?!

I've also heard that the NHS in NI won't tell you the gender at the 20 week scan, is that true? If so, any idea how much a private gender scan there would be? I had one in London last time and it was only around £60 so hopefully it's not too much more there...

BEEwitched · 02/11/2013 23:06

Oh, it's an NHS thing? I thought it was just my hospital being awkward! Still hope I might get an answer at my 20 week scan, though.

I have no idea how much a private scan for that would cost but all private maternity options here seem to be really dear.

I've heard the Harmony test is around £400 in England, so you could make a weekend of it and still have change left.
