Ok, I can't see a May thread in here so I guess I will start one! According to the NHS due date calculator my EDD is actually 30th April but I think that makes me more likely to be having a May baby anyway!

Am feeling very tentative about starting this thread as I had a mc in June and it's very early days for this one but...anyone want to come and chat through these nerve-wracking first few days?

thistlelicker · 15/09/2013 14:43

Ooooh Lola exciting !!!!

Welcome new mummy may bies!!

Sparkles23 · 15/09/2013 15:02

Hi ItalianWiking congrats! You normally would book a doctors appointment as soon as you find out you're pregnant (ring up tomorrow just in case you can't get one for a couple of weeks!) it is literally just to tell them you are pregnant so you get in the system, the doc then does a referral and you should then receive a letter for your booking in appointment with the midwife in due course which is usually around 10 weeks give or take, you will also receive a letter with scan date around this time, first scan is between 12-14 weeks ideally nearer 12. Well this is how it's done where I live it might vary slightly from area to area Grin

ItalianWiking84 · 15/09/2013 15:11

Thanks sparkles, I will call the doc tomorrow and book an app

thistlelicker · 15/09/2013 15:12

Where are we all based?

ItalianWiking84 · 15/09/2013 15:22

I am based in Scotland in a village close to Glasgow but originally I am from Denmark

thistlelicker · 15/09/2013 15:30

I'm from Manchester

Lollywig · 15/09/2013 15:41

Welcome New ladies and congrats all round.

We've just got off phone from DH's dad - DH's mum died three years ago and today would be her bday so felt it would be nice to share positive news with the family on a day that can feel quite sad. Also told my mum and bro on Fri. Everyone is over the moon! I keep urging caution due to my distinctly un-pg feeling but DH has been googling and everyone is right - it's not that unusual so early to feel pretty normal. Fingers crossed...

I live in Saddleworth, near Manchester. Famous for moors and murders unfortunately....

Very beautiful though. Except days like today when it's totally pissing down. That's fairly frequent actually.

Does mean my nearest hospital is Oldham. The glamour!

Lollywig · 15/09/2013 15:42

Oh Thistle - cross post and we're v close!

thistlelicker · 15/09/2013 15:56

I live close to the m62:-) my nearest hospital is north Manchester but I'm going to another hospital

Lollywig · 15/09/2013 15:58

Which one Thistle? We've only lived in the area 2 years and barely been to see a GP, let alone needed a hospital, so I know nothing about local health services...

moominleigh94 · 15/09/2013 16:01

I'm on the north west Wales coast, moving to North East Wales on Tuesday (uni) Smile

Had a text from doctors telling me to call and arrange my booking in appointment Grin

thistlelicker · 15/09/2013 16:12

St Mary's! The one in centre of Manchester

Halfbaked · 15/09/2013 16:19

I have spent most of the day sleeping, as I have been so busy this week. I really overdid it yesterday, didn't eat properly and ended up feeling very odd, with blind spots in my vision. It only lasted about 30 mins, but I was miles from home with my DD, so it was really scary.

I'm feeling much better after DH ordered me to bed. My MIL is here she must have guessed, but we haven't told her officially as last time she broadcast my miscarriage on Facebook. It was an accident, she doesn't get the concept that everything is public!
Anyhow caught up and the Monty Python stuff made me giggle. Hope everyone is feeling better than I have. I'm in Norfolk.
7wks today

CoffeeGuzzler · 15/09/2013 16:27

Waves to italianviking

I live in west London. Awful weather we've been having lately.

loopylou52 · 15/09/2013 16:29

Hi all! Sorry to those feeling rubbish (or worrying about not feeling rubbish!). My nausea definitely seems to have got worse over the last couple of days - we were out last night and today and both times I was dreading it, so scared of being sick in public! We haven't told anyone yet - our plan is to tell immediate family once we've had the private scan at 8 weeks and then no-one else until 12 weeks. Not sure how to get to then without people guessing though! I agree time seems to have slowed down so much!

I'm based in the south, in Berkshire.

6+0 today

AliOh · 15/09/2013 17:01

Welcome to the new may-bies! I'm in beautiful Pembrokeshire in south west wales - moved here about 3 years ago. Moomin I'm originally from Prestatyn I'm guessing you would know where that is!

Very exciting lola hope I get my appointment soon!!

JessicaRRRabbit · 15/09/2013 17:06

I'm in Bolton - they must've put something in the NW water last month lol.

LongTailedTit · 15/09/2013 17:10

Evening all! I have a knackered 2yo sprawled out on me asleep, pinning me to the sofa, faaaar too late to be napping but he just passed out so there we go! I choose to just enjoy the cuddles while I still get them :)

I'm starting to feel a bit more anxious about Tuesday's scan, DH is going to come with me now, will have to get a friend to take DS to nursery.
Mostly only get the tearing pain when I sneeze/cough etc, but a small bleed follows soon after, so after reading stuff online, I'm wondering if it's issues with the placenta attaching. Argh. I'm not going to read anymore, prob best to wait to hear what they say at the scan!

I'm in Buckinghamshire.

moominleigh94 · 15/09/2013 17:12

Yes indeedy AliOh :) I'm at uni in Wrexham but I'm fairly familiar with the whole of the north and north-west coast of Wales :)

Sparkles23 · 15/09/2013 17:14

I'm in a southern London borough - London/Surrey borders really.

CoffeeGuzzler · 15/09/2013 17:59

longtailed Sorry to hear that you've been having an anxious time. Best stop browsing internet. Google can prove anything if you look hard enough. Best of luck for your scan.

CoventGarden75 · 15/09/2013 18:07

LTT my scan is on Tuesday too, and I agree with Coffee, internet will show you horror stories, if it thinks that's what you're looking for. I've stopped looking.

I'm in central London.

LongTailedTit · 15/09/2013 18:16

Yup - Dr Google has absolutely no bedside manner and 9 out of 10 times says you've got cancer! I submit that Dr Google is a twat. Grin

Definitely not looking for any more info online before the scan. I still reckon everything's (probably) fine anyway, am generally a glass-half-full type, but it'll be good to have DH with me.
