New thread and ever hopeful as we move into second trimester that we'll all feel wonderful soon...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DawnOfTheDee · 19/08/2013 19:46

Ah that's great vix Smile

I'm starting to get impatient about my 20 week scan too. Me and DH are definitely going to find out girl or boy and I just want to know now so I can serious about names!

I found last time that names I liked for a girl pre-20 week scan suddenly went out the window when I found out yes it was going to be a girl. It suddenly seems more real iykwim?

misskatamari · 19/08/2013 19:46

Glad your appointment went well Vix. Hope your scan date comes through soon as well Smile

CubanoHabana · 19/08/2013 19:54

I have a little bump with clothes on but when off it just looks like flab... Although the hardness is moving up daily. Unfortunately, it looks like my bum has gone up at least 2 dress sizes... It's actually quite embarrassing as its not in proportion with the rest of me! What's worse is, my favourite comfy stretchy dress is light grey and makes it look even worse, which I didn't realise until today (after wearing it pretty non-stop this week)!

I need to buy some mat work trousers and I don't think I will say anything to the kids (secondary as well) unless they ask. My 20 week scan is not until 3rd oct and I think they will guess well before then! Don't think my year 9 and 10 top sets will say anything as they are new and don't know me well but think my bottom 10's (who I have taught since year 7) and my top year 11 sh*t bags (who I secretly quite like now) will literally ask first day I teach them!

Still very tired and often have naps, been to Whitby today and had fantastic day but didn't manage to have a nap so exhausted now!

CubanoHabana · 19/08/2013 19:55

Ps vix glad things went well with consultant and that you feel relieved.

lyndsey90 · 19/08/2013 20:19

My angelsounds Doppler picked up baby's heartbeat at 13weeks, so pleased with it. Put a big smile on OHs face, well worth £20 :)

jazzcat28 · 19/08/2013 20:46

Glad all the appointments are going well. Looking forward to 16wk app with midwife although from the sounds of it it's a bit of a non-event?

Got some lovely neutral baby clothes in post from online shop today and have been cooing over them with DH. More "at" DH than with but he smiled so I'm happy.

Still think we wont be finding out gender at scan but DH is wobbling. I still think it'd be an amazing surprise and also it helps kerb my spending as not much neutral stuff I like!

Think I might be able to stop work at Christmas too, if I've calculated annual leave owed correctly. Might be a little early but I think it will be pointless going into the office for 2wks in January when my replacement will be there so bugger all for me to do except huff and puff like a whale

LittlePandaBear · 19/08/2013 20:55

Pleased about your consultant appointment Vix - nearly 18 weeks sounds really far on!

And wow so many teachers on here - if you can handle a room full of teenagers you'll have no trouble with a baby! They don't talk back (for a while...)

Well I do have a small bump, but I've just finished a tub of Ben & Jerry's choc fudge brownie ice cream which was AMAZING. I ate it in 3 sittings over 3 different days - that's not too bad is it? Can I blame the hormones?

I think I've felt some light flutterings over the past week late evening, but maybe it was trying to tell me not to over dose it with sugar! Blush

Would love some simple dresses I could wear for work or play that will work as I get bigger - any ideas? My boss and a few others at work know now and I'm past the stage of caring if others notice my bump now. No one has commented that I'm snacking every hour and going to the loo every hour which should be a giveaway!

I don't like the sound of H&M clothes if I have to size up - I want clothes to make me feel better about myself, not worse! I haven't actually put on any weight although I feel like I look like I do. My nana in law actually said I was getting a little 'chubby' which I didn't appreciate! So now I'm worried about my double chin. Sad

I really loved my bump last time - resting my arms on it and I missed it when it was gone (although obviously I had my hands full then!). Those who don't have much of one yet - you must have stronger tummy muscles which is no bad thing - maybe it will go back down again quicker than those of us who are showing early! (I showed much later with my first pregnancy).

lyndsey90 · 19/08/2013 21:03

Yaaaay I must have strong tummy muscles. My manager has been off for 5 weeks and says I look like I've lost weight!!

misskatamari · 19/08/2013 21:16

Jazz that's great about being able to finish at Christmas! Smile

Littlepanda - perfectly acceptable ice cream eating habits I think! I was looking online the other day and Asos and next seemed like they had some nice dresses if I remember correctly.

Gosh I feel so so fat tonight! I just can't stop bloody eating at the moment so am worried that I am just getting fat! I must try and eat healthier and do a bit of exercise.

gnittinggnome · 19/08/2013 21:19

littlepanda have you looked at La Redoute maternity? There are some fairly neutral, very easy to wear dresses there (I'm going for this one: www.laredoute.co.uk/wrap-over-style-maternity-nursing-dress/prod-9703101-549373.aspx not particularly cheap but I reckon it would easily do for the whole winter/spring and it's good for nursing too if that takes your fancy!)

HarlemWobble · 19/08/2013 21:48

Evening all!

No bump here yet at 13+6, but definitely feeling a bit fat by the evening. Hate this limbo stage, I just want to look pregnant so I can wear my Baby in Board badge without the fear of getting strange looks from other passengers!!

Vix glad your consultant appointment went well, sounds like a good outcome!

Totally agree with those feeling knackered. I wake up most mornings feeling like I could sleep for a week. By mid afternoon I'm almost zombie like!

In other news, DH have put an offer in on a house today. Apparently there is another couple who have offered the same, they're in and chain, we're not. Fingers crossed the vendor chooses us, should have an answer either way tomorrow! Eek! I'm super excited but trying not to get my hopes up too much incase it doesn't work out.

Right I'm off to shop for dopplers online...don't want to miss out on that excitement! You guys should be on commission! Grin

CubanoHabana · 19/08/2013 21:50

littlepanda I got a few things in h&m sale, all normal size but stretchy material and they are great, although they had a sign that said buy 1 size bigger if 6-7 months and 2 sizes bigger if more... Although best buys were jersey material long dresses from normal part of shop in usual size, they are fab and very stretchy (my friend made me put my bag under it to see whether it would accommodate a bump)...

CubanoHabana · 19/08/2013 21:50

At beginning of that it should say in maternity sale

CubanoHabana · 19/08/2013 21:51

Wow Harlem that is exciting... Good luck!

LittlePandaBear · 19/08/2013 21:57

Surely the point of maternity clothes is that you shouldn't need to buy a size bigger, they should grow with you! Otherwise they are normal clothes Hmm

Thanks for the laredoute link - I like some of the dresses but as I'm 5ft 2 and the models will be tall, I think they may be a bit long for me. I almost ordered some work trousers but they didn't accept the 20% off code that was at the top of the screen which annoyed me so I haven't bought them yet! I think trying to find suitalble non maternity clothes will give me more choice!

Harlem - good luck with the house! Exciting times Smile

misskatamari · 19/08/2013 21:58

Ooooh Harlem excellent news about the house - fingers crossed for you!

Gosh I am so confused - I was convinced I had my 16 week mw appointment tomorrow as I'm 16+2 today and booked it just after my scan and I've checked my diary and its down for next tues instead! I don't know if I've written it wrong or if I've some now managed to get all muddled up and book it a week later. Maybe it's baby brain kicking in! Will give em a call in the morning to double check. I hope it doesn't matter too much if its a week late - I'm supposed to be having the quad blood test (I think that's what it's called) as they couldn't do the NT measurements at the scan. To be fair I'm not too bothered if they can't do it as I wouldn't have further testing anyway but it would be nice to hopefully be told "low risk"

laura0007 · 19/08/2013 23:08

Just back from the psychic...(although she claimed to be a medium, whatever the difference is) and she greeted me with, hi when's your baby boy due? Freaked me out straight away. Then she said about baby's dad will be back around the time he's born but he won't want to get back with me and he won't be reliable. She said I worked with children, which I do I'm a nanny, and that's there was a guy who had died in a car crash around me. I have no idea who that is I don't know anyone in a crash. She also said that I'm having two children close together a boy, then a girl, not even 10 months between them (whats this then miracle conception?!) and kept saying are you sure it's not twins. She then said she could see my baby somersaulting in my tummy and asked if I could feel it (which I couldn't). Think that's about it really...
Still not sure i completely believe....Hmm

LittlePandaBear · 19/08/2013 23:15

Laura that's creepy - I guess she has a 50/50 about your baby being a boy. The car crash thing is scary. And good luck with baby no. 2 by the end of 2013 Grin

Shropshiremummy2bLaFay · 20/08/2013 00:36

Laura WTF?!?!? That's sooooooo cool!

Can't wait to see if you're both right and its a boy! I hope she's way off about the crash, otherwise that's just another way of putting the shitters up a pregnoid!

Anyway, that's great news to hear you will get laid soon, muchos congrats!!!

misskat aren't you due on the first too? I'm planning on not returning after Christmas.... Am I crazy? Is that too early?

Timpani · 20/08/2013 06:43

I'm planning on not returning after Christmas. I'm also due on the first. Will be 36+ weeks by the time term starts! I finished about then with number 1. Would like to spend some time with DS before baby 2 arrives. :)

Laura, that's just freaky!

Sassy20 · 20/08/2013 07:05

I think those finishing at 36 weeks are nicely timed. You'll need that month to relax a bit and do final preparations. You won't believe how quickly it will go. I finished at 34 weeks with dd because I had a really bad back and was struggling with driving and work wouldn't be flexible and let me work nearer home! This time if that happens I'll get signed off as wanting to leave it as long as possible before starting mat leave as only taking 9 months this time plus some accrued leave which I'm hoping will get me through to Jan 2015 Smilex

sunflowered · 20/08/2013 07:09

I wish I could finish up at Christmas but I'll only be 33 weeks at new year so think I'll go back for 3 weeks and (hopefully) finish towards the end of jan. I'm predicting it won't be the hardest I've ever worked though... I'm planning 3 weeks of tidying my desk and drinking coffee and talking about baby clothes handing over.

laura0007 · 20/08/2013 08:38

Trust me! There will be no baby number 2 that soon after this one! I have to find myself a nice young man first!

pettyprudence · 20/08/2013 08:41

as I am technically self employed I won't be going on mat leave until about 37 weeks (same as with ds, but I was in full time employment then) and hopefully taking 9-12 months off. I haven't quite figured out the financial logisitics other than just crossing my fingers and desperately hoping dh gets another pay rise in February!

misskatamari · 20/08/2013 08:44

Yep I'm due the 1st so don't think ill be back after Christmas. Ill probably be the size of a house and I'm sure ill be glad to stop waddling around school!

Laura that is creepy that she could tell you were pg straight away. Bloody hell tho less that 10 months between babies - that would be some fast "back on the horse" wouldn't it!
