OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Strollers are fine for newborns if they can lie flat - they need to be flat up til about 3 months-ish. Most Maclarens are suitable from birth.

I had a travel system and hated it because you have to dismantle the bloody things to put them in the car. After many prams Blush I switched to the bugaboo bee as its parent facing and doesn't have to be dismantled to put it away (folds down in one piece). I think bugaboo and quinny's bucket seats are suitable from birth (laid back) but not icandy's?

bugsyburge · 11/08/2013 09:44

with the quinny buzz you can buy an inlay to use with the chassis so u don't have to get the carrycot as well as car seat

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 09:49

Yep iCandy seats arent suitable from birth - you have to get the carrycot to go in the chassis. But you can fold it with the seat attached (faces either way) when you get to using it (not with the carrycot attached though)

Sorry - didn't mean stroller not suitable for newborn - just meant those seats that don't go properly flat, whatever they are called.

I know bog all basically as have zero experience! But work is particularly boring so I spent several hours on which.co.uk and many other review websites (geek) before I made my pick so I'm fairly confident the one I got will suit us. (Watch me eat my naive words in 6 months times probably!)

I so nearly went with a 3 wheeler before I measured and realised none of them would fit through my front door!

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 09:55

bugsy I wanted that one originally but it won't fit through our front door! Shame. Couldn't deal with removing little one and folding on the doorstep every time, especially in February weather!
Really lucky as I found the one I got with seat, carrycot, rain covers, foot muffs etc etc all in one bargain (second hand) job lot. And a friend is lending me her maxi-cosi cabriofix car seat which fits it. Just going to wash the soft bits (though thy look clean) and buy a new mattress for the carrycot to be safe.

I just went in the August thread and swiftly left it again after reading about bursting stretch marks Shock but before I did I came across this gem www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1212449-dh-threw-wine-at-the-wall/AllOnOnePage
(possibly been posted before, apologies if so)
So funny.

Haha milk. I couldn't read the whole thing my brain was about to explode Grin I swear some people live their whole lives on drugs....

vix206 · 11/08/2013 13:00

I've been reading back through my posts on the August 2010 antenatal threads. Interesting but also scary reading ahead to later pregnancy. Definitely had an easier time of it so far, long may that continue Grin

vix206 · 11/08/2013 13:04

Have seen the famous Sharon thread before but am sat here in tears reading it again. So funny

Shropshiremummy2b · 11/08/2013 13:48

I spent the whole of my day reading that yesterday! It took my mind off the burst stretch marks a treat! It's an hour of my life I'm not getting back but was so worth it! The dead wasp was my fave part!

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 14:45

I was sat in a cafe this morning crying with laughter over it and trying to explain bits to DH. He then solemnly and carefully placed a dead wasp next to my coffee (found on the windowsill next to us, he didn't go out and slaughter one special, like) The timing was so perfect I nearly gave myself a hernia from the giggling

I don't believe it - I'm enjoying a half shandy Lemonade on the pub terrace whilst finishing the sharon thread and a wasp just dived into my glass and tried to drown itself. (I've rescued it) Set me off all over again!!

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 14:57

champagne haha!

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 14:59

(that Grin was aimed at the wasp comment, not your uti - which I'm sorry to hear about and hope gets better very soon!)

Littleen · 11/08/2013 15:00

Not had a scan yet (12 weeks on tuesday) because where I live you don't get one until week 18-20, and I can't afford a private one. Whilst I feel very pregnant, I can't shake the worry about baby not being ok in there, or not being there at all, despite not having had any worrying symptoms or anything. Feels difficult not knowing if everything is alright until I am 5 months pregnant, and not being able to connect to the idea until then!

I would love to have either private scan or doppler, but am unemployed without benefits, so living hand to mouth atm, so no budget for such things! Is there any way I can find out myself for free if it's alive atleast? :P

littlestgirlguide · 11/08/2013 15:50

The saga of Sharon, Adam, Bagda and the wasp has had me in fits, it's a good job I'm home alone Grin
I've really overdone it the last couple of days, ran a coach trip for 40 kids to the Black Country Museum on Friday and out from 10am till midnight last night at Shrewsbury Flower Show yesterday (ending with Bellowhead and fireworks) and now I am utterly exhausted. It's all I can do to sit on the sofa, and I've got loads of the usual weekend chores to do - change the beds, ironing, cleaning, etc. I just want to sleep! Do you think "tired after a busy weekend" is a good enough reason to call in sick tomorrow?!

barebranches · 11/08/2013 16:06

hi everyone
spent the morning stripping wall paper in the babies! its looking good and ready for wallpaper on tusday! (ignoring that i fell asleep for 2 hours leaving poor DH and DSIL to it) Grin

Trying to stop using my doppler for a while... for some reason the oil gave me a rash!

laura0007 · 11/08/2013 16:28

That's my job next weekend bare stripping wallpaper in the baby's room. Will be all exciting!

LovesToBake · 11/08/2013 17:00

Littleen that's really tough that you don't get a 12 week scan, do you mind me asking what part of the country you're in? I've never heard of that one being offered. Seems really odd as it also means you won't get the combined screening, although I appreciate not everyone decides to have it, but it's good to have the option. Really feel for you.
