...and Timpani at least my loo isn't downstairs in this house. Even so I might resort to some sort of catheter if this continues! Or how absorbent are tena lady?! Wink

vix206 · 10/08/2013 20:53

Ugh our toilet is downstairs right at the back and you have to walk through the cold kitchen to reach it without letting the cats escape (they are shut in the kitchen at night otherwise they miaow outside bedroom door constantly). It's like an assault course, dreading it in the winter months!!! Luckily I only have to get up once in the night at the moment. Would love an en-suite GrinGrinGrin

vix206 · 10/08/2013 20:54

Milk - I'm thinking a good old fashioned bed pan might be a sound idea come the colder months!!

DawnOfTheDee · 10/08/2013 20:57

Re: drinking. I'm old school and have been enjoying a glass of guinness a few times a week. Did this with DD and she was the biggest, bounciest, healthiest bubba ever so...cheers!

Each to their own though Smile

Sassy20 · 10/08/2013 21:06

Thanks Vix and PettyPrudence for the advice. Buggy board sounds the way to go I think.

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 21:07

That's what I like to hear dawn!

DawnOfTheDee · 10/08/2013 21:08

A bedpan Vix...? Why not splash out on a commode instead? That's what's on my wishlist.... Wink

DawnOfTheDee · 10/08/2013 21:09

Haha laura0007! I do feel a bit bad though when people ask me "So how are you finding not drinking..?" and i'm like "erm...I couldn't tell you" Grin

pettyprudence · 10/08/2013 21:12

Dawn I'm sure Guinness would appear in Bare's 1940's pregnancy guide? I'm sure its positively healthy with all that iron Grin

Littleen · 10/08/2013 21:47

I still don't feel like I am pregnant and am going to have a baby! 12 weeks on tuesday, got loooads of symptoms, but it still just doesn't feel real - not even feeling any joy about it, it's just sort of numb! whaaat to doooo :O

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 21:50

I saw a commode in the local charity shop the other day. Didn't really think it would be the kind of thing you'd want second hand!

Just ordered a doppler from amazon - went for the angelsounds one - only 20 quid so don't feel guilty about getting it. Lets hope I manage to figure out finding the heart beat!

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 21:51

Have you had your scan yet littleen?

marzipanned · 10/08/2013 21:55

My brother and I used to have a chamberpot in our bedroom when we were kids! He always wet the bed cause he was too scared to go downstairs to the bathroom.

Tbh I have considered pissing in my vomit bowl a couple of times Grin

Think I am going to go for the doppler or I'll be jealous of you all grooving away to your babies' heartbeats :)

212VIP · 10/08/2013 22:05

Just be warned though peeps. With regard to the dopplers I wouldn't get one if any of you are nervy about your pregnancies.
I got one with my first and found it caused more stress than enjoyment.
The midwife won't usually use one to check for a heart beat until at least 16 weeks and even then they're trained and have much more specialist equipment than you can buy.
I just found it took so long to find the heartbeat (if at all sometimes) and I went to bed a few nights in a row crying with worry having not managed to find it.
Just sharing past experiences...

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 22:05

I've been needing a wee so frequently I have been telling DH I'm gonna get a potty!

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 22:07

I was worried about that 212 but I know that they can be unreliable so not to worry if we don't find hb. DH will be under strict instructions to hide it if I do start getting funny about it tho as you just can't tell in advance can you.

pettyprudence · 10/08/2013 22:22

I had the summer (?) doppler in my first pg. NEVER found the hb so gave up through frustration and boredom. I felt really guilty when I sold it on ebay! I think it was a combo of anterior placenta and crap monitor.

I have just baked 3 loaves of banana bread as I have found cake to be just the right level of carbs i crave - not too heavy or too light. Chucked in bananas and nuts to make it vaguely healthy Hmm only I seem to have put in too much banana and the mixture is still coming off on my knife after 90 mins cooking.....

You people are bad. As is 1 touch pay amazon. Just bought myself a doppler....

marzipanned · 10/08/2013 22:55

Champagne I think I might too as my pee is cloudy at least once a day. There's much less there than normal and it smells stronger but we have also both been really really dehydrated.

I'm going to wait til my next midwife appointment cause they check the pee then anyway. But otherwise I think you just have to go to the doctor and get your pee tested. Also, you may, like me, be struggling to drink - just try to keep sipping away/chugging when you actually feel up to it. That should help flush it out if it is the beginnings.

vix206 · 11/08/2013 07:12

Littleen- have you had a scan yet? If not I would say that having the scan should help with ambivalent feelings. It did the trick for me Smile

EeyoreIsh · 11/08/2013 08:29

Morning all

I've made it to the lovely South of France Grin I feel so much better for being on holiday, and the hotel in staying in has wifi so I can keep track of the thread Grin

my bump is definitely starting to appear, although it's still at the 'could be podge' stage!

champagne It's causing all kinds of funny things to happen to my wee. I think I really need to go and it's a dribble, I go and then I need to go again straight away, etc. but I'm not sure it's an UTI as I've no blood or pain.

The getting up in the middle of the night to go the loo is so annoying. We're getting an en suite fitted to our bedroom when we get back. I don't think it'll be ready for us to move into until the end of the year. It would make such a difference for when baby arrives.

I've been looking at buggies and strollers. I've seen one I really like in John lewis for £185, it is suitable from birth. What difference does it make having a buggy that can lie flat and having a stroller like the Icandy or bugaboo bee? It seems a massive price difference and I can't tell what the benefits of the more expensive ones are?

bugsyburge · 11/08/2013 08:51

morning ladies, well shopping was a success yday, I have picked my pram..... it was between the icandy peach jogger & the quinny buzz 3.... I've chosen the quinny buzz 3 as I like it as much, I've heard good things & it's nearly half the price....m it's on offer atm in babies r us for 325 (instead of 425) incase anyone else has their eye on that one.... because of the reduction I'm off back there today to order it!!!! ive also picked bedroom furniture but I won't be ordering that for a good while..... anyone got a nice Sunday planned?

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 09:08

eeyorish babies need to lie flat as much as possible when they are newborn - not sure when up until - I guess until they can support their heads etc? So you can't put a newborn in a stroller. Group 0 car seats are ok for up to 2 hours max but you (if you need a pram at all) need one with a carrycot. I don't know about bugaboo bee but the icandy's are travel systems so you have the chassis and fit a carrycot and then a stroller seat when they are bigger (and the car seat fits too) so the one system takes them through until they are too large for a pushchair. Preferences on types are entirely personal and more expensive doesn't always mean better. It's best to just google ones you like and read lots of reviews and get as much info as you can, as well as testing in shops before you commit.

Milkandtwo · 11/08/2013 09:08

Also - enjoy your holiday!
