OldieMum · 28/06/2006 10:39

Congratulations, HC. What a lovely name, too.

lilianna · 28/06/2006 10:41

Congrats HC. Hope you are both doing well.

Wishing this pg was over and done with now. Feel totally awful. Just like having flu.
tried clary sage, pineapples, raspberry leaf tea.

Hope everyone is doing ok
take care lilianna

puddytat99 · 28/06/2006 10:46

Congrats Hc and a huge welcome to Sophie Isobel (what a lovely name). Look forward to hearing the story, take care of yourself hun

Twirl - good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you. Looks like you'll be next.

I never had a plug with DS and my waters broke first, then the contractions started straight away.

Had a long warm bath last night, which helped to ease the back ache and managed to get a half decent night's sleep last night.

pinkdolly · 28/06/2006 12:03

HC- Wonderful news hon. Welcome to little Sophie. Hope you are resting up!(both of you).

Had a bad night last night. Went to bed well early with a migraine, but dd2 was not well so she ended up in with me (very naughty I know). Sometime later DD1 came in upset saying she was not feeling well either. So we were all in my bed.

DD1 went straight back to sleep, but dd2 and me were restless all night. Both of us tossing and turning. Me for being really achey and not being able to get comfy and I dont know about DD2. She is all sniffly and has come out in spots and was scratching all night. So neither of us got much sleep. As a consequence we are both shattered today. Never mind.

My MIL is heading over here later, not looking forward to it as am still annoyed with her over not even giving a card to dd1 for her birthday. Also she always finds something to moan at me about. (are you eating properly? drinking enough water? resting enough......). She can be quite condescending and hypocritical.

Do you think it will be alright if I close the curtains and hide.

Twirl · 28/06/2006 12:05

Congratulations HC - 2 of my favourite names . I'm really pleased for you.
I am off to the hospital this afteroon for blood tests etc before the big day tomorrow, no doubt they will keep me hanging round all afternoon. I'm absolutely bricking it now and just want to get it over with.....

Clara1 · 28/06/2006 13:40

well done HC and a BIG hello to Sophie! THe floodgates seem to be opening now.
I might be announcing earlier than expected as baby is lying transverse and has been like this all along. Also been told it is big so they are worried it might not shift in which case a c/s for me. Been for acupuncture, been swimming and spending as much time looking like a really bad porn star on all fours with my bum wiggling in the air! (still doesn't distract DH from the football!) Has anyone else had trasverse lie?

spub · 28/06/2006 15:06

Hi all,
Clara - I had a transverse lie but thankfully baby is now head down. I'm having a section in any case but it was far more comfy once the baby turned. Sounds like you're doing everything I was told to. I also was advised to lie on my left for half an hour each day. Good luck.
Twirl- I'm sooooo thinking about you. I know we'll both have an ok time. HOnest. I have just had my clerking in appt at hospital. All well; baby is active with a good heartbeat and is head down. Got the chat about the section, gave some bloods and generally spent a pretty relaxed and reassuring hour in antenatal. Lovely mw and student I saw today are working on Friday so will see me then. Reckon that I'll be taken around Friday lunchtime barring a load of emergency c/s!
Feel pretty good right now. Will probably be sh*ing myself on Friday but that's a day and a half away!
Pink - hope mil's visit isn't too bad. Plead a headache and let her babysit whilst you go for a nap!
Bloss - LOL at Sophie Isobel being immediately impressed by her nursery border (sooooo worth all of Diddle's hasles!!)
So, Twirl's section is tomorrow and mine's on Friday. Who else is close to time?

Hope you're all well.

koshka1984 · 28/06/2006 16:34

Hello!

deblaca · 28/06/2006 18:18

congrats to hc and sophie isobel welcome to the world

koshka - try to relax, it makes everything easier (i know its easier said than done)

clara good luck with turning the baby

good luck the rest of you ladies going in for your c/s

had a scan yesterday and looks like the wee fella is not so HUGE after all - a nice biggish healthy sized baby - phew they had me worried for a while there

maewest · 28/06/2006 18:44

So exciting - my NCT group has started popping as well, lots of lovely bubba pictures to look at . Had really good yoga session today, came out feeling energised (rather than sleepy, which often happens!) Feels bizarre to be one of the veteran members of the class, in a few weeks time I'm going to be one of the ones who disappears one week and comes back less fat and with a baby! Oh and my birth ball is at the post office, DH is going to pick it up for me. Hopefully get comfy in front of the tv now...

maewest · 28/06/2006 18:46

Oh and forgot to say - good luck Koshka, you'll be fine! Try to rest and just think that in just a few days time you'll have your LO in your arms

koshka1984 · 28/06/2006 21:28

thanks,

have stopped hyperventilating now!! Also had to tell DP and he would not believe me. Kept on saying that 'if you are winding me up tell me now i wont be mad....'

Argh..
Godd luck to everyone im supposed to be moving house as well so will have to do that pretty quick!

Evening ladies
Just checking in to say goodbye and good luck to you all as I wont be able to log on till I get home from my section. I'll try and get hubby to do a quick post but I suspect he will be up to his neck with organising our toddler and relatives etc . I'm really nervous but saw my consultant today and he is just wonderful and will be with me throughout so I know I'm in good hands. I'm looking forward to hopefully throwing my crutches away and kissing goodbye to spd forever (no more babies!). Most of all I'm looking forward to finally meeting my little man.
Spub and Koshka - Best of luck to you too. I'll think of you on Friday and Saturday. I hope everything goes swimmingly for you both.
This is turning into an essay so I'm going to sign off now. Keep those bumps safe now xxx

jersey · 29/06/2006 08:02

Wow congrats HC on sohpie, brilliant news. Good luck Koshka at least it will be over quickly. I was induced last time and it wasn't that bad.

Re plugs mine have been clear/creamy big blob of stringy mucus, but the midwife still things it was my plug esp as it came after the weekends events .

Saw midwife yest afternoon and told that if I go straight into every 5 mins again and they get stronger to get to hospital very quickly and if I can't ring the delivery ward number and they will send a midwife to me at home as it will be safer than trying to move to late and delivering on the way !!!!! It depends on DH getting from coventry to leicester in time, or in laws being available at short notice.

Although can't go into labour tomorrow as no childcare again.

Those having a home birth, a question. If I have to deliver at home does the midwife bring plastic sheets etc, as we haven't prepared for this event and have pale carpets which wouldn't look good with blood stains, etc ????

Had lots of pressure yesterday and aches but nothing yet although was also told yesterday that baby is now 4/5 engaged so guess that explains the discomfort.

Good luck for the next labour!!!!!

jersey · 29/06/2006 08:03

Good luck twirl.

pinkdolly · 29/06/2006 09:26

Morning everybody,

Good luck to you Twirl and the other's with impending c/s.

Jersey - Re homebirth, my MW has told me to get some plastic sheet from B and Q or somewhere similer.
But I read somewhere that you can use a wipe clean tablecloth (you know plastic on the top and felt underneath). Apparently if you use it with the felt the felt side up it is much more comfy then the plastic sheet. Plus it stops people slipping all over the place.

Otherwise just the plastic sheet with an old blanket or duvet cover thrown over the top should do the trick.
Failing that you could always try the incontinance sheets they sell for putting in the bed (but I imagine this is the more expensive option). I hope that helps.

My head is pounding today, even the littlist noises are getting to me. So I will be off for now.
Catch up with you later.

jom · 29/06/2006 09:29

Wow, haven't been on for a day and a half and what a lot of news. Congratulations HC and welcome to your little Sophie Isobel

Best of luck today twirl, tomorrow spub and Saturday koshka. Makes me feel tired just thinking about it all. I definitaley won't be able to miss any more days on mumsnet or I won't know whats going on at all!

Hope everyone else is managing to take it easy!

puddytat99 · 29/06/2006 09:34

39 weeks today

Wow, it's all happening now.

Spud - Good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you hun.

Kosh - Try not to panic, just think you'll have a lovely little bundle to cuddle over the weekend. Take care of yourself.

Off to the hospital tomorrow to see the consultant. Was told if I can get to tomorrow then I can go with the mw led section and have a water birth, if pool available.

Take care of all those bumps and babies.
