madame j thats crap!
hope your dad is doing ok Thanks

Gina have you ever heard of beetroot brownies? they're absolutely amazing, you can't taste the beetroot, trust me cause I hate it personally, once you've tried them you won't ho back!

pinkbear82 · 31/05/2013 14:40

Gina - my pelvis area is very clicky and I get a lot of pain around that area when first standing from sitting and getting in and out of bed. I have mentioned this to the MW but no official spd diagnosis - think because it comes and goes in I can still do things they aren't too worried.

Mrsbri - everyone I say I did my toes are quite impressed - its not overly comfy but I'm a bit stubborn! Lol. Could you accidentally catch your DP with the nails that are left to do and then do the innocent 'oh sorry that's the ones I couldn't do my self' flutter of the eyes......

I'll tell you what, I'm missing DP don't get me wrong, but having the house stay tidy and sorted and getting into my own routine is quite nice! I suddenly realised the other day it's going to go from just me, to me and baby and then DP home and then that means getting back into the swing of his girls re staying rather than just visiting again...... It's going to be manic very quickly. Not sure how I'll cope with it all at once...... But guess I will. Funny how we adjust to things so quickly when we have too.

rrreow · 31/05/2013 15:04

MadameJ that's horrible, so sorry to hear about your dad. Hope things go well for him, keeping my fingers crossed.

MrsBri · 31/05/2013 15:12

Madame, I hope your dad is OK and that whatever treatment he gets really helps him.

And how crap of your SiL. That would really piss me off, I have to say.

rrreow, here is the carrot cake recipe I used, but I didn't use his icing recipe, I used this one without the coconut included.

I'm glad the hospital staff listened to you and have agreed with your course of action. Extra monitoring is the best compromise, isn't it?

And yes, Steff, beetroot chocolate cake / brownies are awesome too! Same concept as carrot cake really, isn't it? Though I always struggle to find raw beetroot and end up with the boiled stuff, which isn't quite the same :-/

More lightning crotch today and baby has settled in a very strange position for some reason! Maybe he'll move if I finally lie down for the rest I was going to have. :-)

learnermummy · 31/05/2013 15:58

Love carrot cake. And parsnip cake lovely too. Annoyingly something went wrong with my cakes this morning (prob because kids 'helping') so will have to redo later.

Hawkmoth · 31/05/2013 16:14

My SPD is not hurting anymore. Baby is right down now so not putting pressure on the rim. Pelvic pain replaced with constant period pains... I'll take that.

Sorry everyone's having a tough day.

Have had a nice lunch with DH and just waiting for the kids to return from their camping trip.

SunnyL · 31/05/2013 16:21

Lying in bed after having a lovely morning spent down at my Dad's sailing loch chucking tennis balls into the water for the dog. Back is really quite painful now and I'm feeling wiped. If this the onset of the big event or just a back to back baby giving me jip? Answers on a postcard please ladies!

Sarah2506 · 31/05/2013 16:25

I am very distressed. Walked into town. Bought Chelsea bun. Really looking forward to it. Walked home, sat in park by pond. Chelsea bun stale. What a waste of 3.5 mile walk. I appreciate this is not truly a drama but you know, little things:-)

pinkapples · 31/05/2013 17:11

Oh no Sarah I'd be gutted! Actually really fancy a bun right now hmmm maybe will buy some tomorrow

rrreow · 31/05/2013 18:04

Aww Sarah I know how you feel, that's the type of thing that would really upset me (even when not pregnant, but especially while pregnant!)

Littlemissexpecting · 31/05/2013 19:04

Sarah that is very distressing, but good on you walking 3.5 miles. The furthest I feel like walking is to the car!
Anyone else's legs starting to resemble tree trunks? I've never had so much swelling in my feet and legs. Mw not concerned but its really starting to annoy me. Doesn't help that my hands and feet really start to itch when they get warm and swollen. I'm used to having such dainty hands and feet.
Would love to hear anyone's tips on treating or relieving the swelling/itch. My heartburn has also ramped up a notch. Drinking so much milk and gaviscon atm as even a sip of cold water sets it off. Again any tips? Hopefully once this lo starts to drop more I'll start to feel better but I'm just feeling thoroughly fed up of being pregnant atm. Sorry that enough moaning from me.
Hope everyone has some nice plans for the weekend. Weather forecast is looking promising.

Littlemissexpecting · 31/05/2013 19:06

Oli hope the op goes well and Joe is ok. Try to make sure you get plenty of rest too.
Madame sorry to hear about your dad. These things always have horrible timing don't they.

MrsBri · 31/05/2013 19:46

Nightmare, Sarah. I'd be very annoyed about that too. But I'm with Littlemiss on my walking capabilities :-/

Baby B has shifted position and is now more central so I can't even sit upright any more as it is too uncomfortable. I have also lost what limited bend I previously had.

His feet are now also wedged in my ribs all the time, and he keeps pushing upwards. Maybe DH is right and he'll push off the top to launch out of me! He's definitely been shoving today as I've had so much lightning crotch it's unreal. Maybe he's actually engaging. Or maybe he's just teasing me!

redwellybluewelly · 31/05/2013 20:00

Well the AN clinic took three hours.

Still being denied skin to skin after CS but the SOM has agreed that I'll have some extra support in post natal and also that communication has been fairly poor.

What really surprised me is the speed with which it will all happen if things go to plan. Turn up at 7am and apparently will be in theatre by 8.30! Yikes.

Completely exhausted now, DH gone to get Chinese, DD has decided there is something in the wind and is flatly refusing to stay in her bed. Been fine in there for months and months Hmm

MadameJ hope you have some good news soon about your dad
Rue how are you feeling?

OP posts:
DontmindifIdo · 31/05/2013 20:12

Redwelly - I've been told no skin to skin after CS too, however I've been suggested DH can hold the baby to my cheek, so not full skin to skin, but cheek to cheek which apparently supposed to be better than nothing. Also our hospital is taking part in clinical trials for some special wrap cardie thing for extra skin to skin and will have extra breast feeding experts available - hopefully this time round I'll actually get help in the hospital - rather than having to beg for help on MN and only be able to bf due to getting very helpful advice from a few of the lovely ladies on here!

I've also been told arrival at 7:30am, first one will be in theatre at 8:45am (eek!) but that there's going to be 3 of us, all turning up at 7:30 and they'll decide on the day who goes in first. I really hope I'm in first, I'm going to be bored/scared/starving if I'm number 3!

ginauk84 · 31/05/2013 20:29

Wow don'tmind how exciting!

Yes have heard about beetroot in chocolate cake/brownies and wondered what it would taste like - must try it one of the days but perhaps just test it on me not work lol.

Steffanoid · 31/05/2013 20:51

Sarah I went to 2 shops for jam doughnuts with granulated sugar on them not powdered, ended up with ones with stupid powdered sugar, threatened dp with violence till he promised I can have one with granulated sugar tomorrow even though he thinks powdered ones are better. he's wrong.

I think it's so exciting that you guys get to know exactly what day you're having you're babies, im really Envy im here trying to tempt fate going yes waters break now, go into labour, we're in a really awkward place, do it do it

Steffanoid · 31/05/2013 20:53

Gina you can't really taste the beetroot, keeps them moist brings out the dark chocolate flavour too Smile

Sarah2506 · 31/05/2013 21:02

Granulated is far superior! Powdered is just messy! It's a bit like back in the day of frozen margaritas when I would like a proper rim of salt, not just a dusting.

3.5 miles is manageable only because there are numerous loos and benches along the way! And I walked very slowly. And with fairly bad back pain. I live in a second floor flat and so to get air I need to go out. Does rather compel me to get off my arse!

arlandria666 · 31/05/2013 21:17

I had to ask for skin to skin in recovery and had to tell the midwife i wanted to breast feed as she hadn't even offered...i think the least said about my hospital care at the moment the better! after ds losing so much weight i am getting more angry that they chucked me out when he was only 36 hours old i had had major surgery AND had asked for help feeding! ggggrrrr! Rant over!
Have we got any more May babies yet ;-)

redwellybluewelly · 31/05/2013 21:27

Ironically I'd move heaven and earth to avoid having an ELCS Confused

But c'est la vie

Have now completely totally overeaten Chinese food!

dontmind I hope the BF support works out, thats one of the main reasons I wanted to ensure skin to skin on me ASAP because it is shown (research studies) that skin to skin within an hour encourages hormone release and stimulates BFing mechanism usually stimulated by natural labour. Although that said I seem to be producing a lot of colostrum already!

pink hows your dog?

OP posts:
Littlemissexpecting · 31/05/2013 21:42

Does anyone else's baby have a really active day then a really quiet one? He was really uncomfortable yesterday kicking my ribs etc but not as much today. He's still moving but just not causing me as much discomfort.

pinkapples · 31/05/2013 21:51

Sorry to those seeming to have issues but am very jealous of people knowing when their babies are coming Hmm not that I'm bitter or anything

Dog is fine red had the drain out tonight and stitches next Friday just have to wait for the drain hole to close up and then the hair to grow back where she was shaved but apart from that she's ok still on lead walks tho and no chasing tennis balls as it was muscle surgery so she's not best pleased but hey go at least she's ok Grin

Hope the surgery goes well for little one and like I said you are getting looked after...

And FYI I really fancy doughnuts now!

pinkapples · 31/05/2013 21:52

Yes little miss, either my little one has hiccups or someone has smuggled her a red bull in there she's been mad the last couple of days

MrsBri · 31/05/2013 22:03

Baby B will have a crazy day or two, then be a little more restrained for another day or so. I wouldn't say he's very quiet on those days, just a touch less active.

You could call triage and see if they'd prefer to monitor you, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry.

Oh, and I prefer the powdered doughnuts, sorry!
