Massagegirl, I think it's because Bootle falls into my local authority which is quite a deprived area. We seem to get quite a few things I doubt we'd get if it wasn't included.

Or they just LOVE breast feeding!

arlandria666 · 05/06/2013 13:49

i had the health visitor come round today and weigh DS on another different set of scales! his weight maintained (it kept flicking up a knotch but she said that's cos he kicked!) anyway while she was here she watched me feed said i was a natural and DS has good attachment, he did however poo 5 times while she was here which i was glad about cos i have told the million different midwifes that i have seen that he is constantly pooing after and during feeds almost as if he can't tolerate it she is the first person to take me seriously and really examined his poo!! she is back on Monday and is going to speak to midwife (not sure which out of the many that i seem to see!) and see how long they plan to keep me doing this before they consider other options. i just wish DS would fatten up :-(

DontmindifIdo · 05/06/2013 14:00

Red welly, she's still isn't feeding fabulously, but a little better. My phone I put in my handbag in the locker in my room when in op. they had a cot ready for dd and asked me to put vest, nappy and hat in that. Also, dh had my purse (with rings in) in the pocket of his scrubs.

(self indulgent whinge) I'm in so much pain!! I've tried to get up as told, hobbled to the shower then nearly fainted. I'm Worrying about tonight, if things don't improve drastically this afternoon I'm not sure how I'm going to cope going to the loo/ lifting Eloise...

redwellybluewelly · 05/06/2013 14:18

dontmind ask for more drugs! You must not overdo it, buzz for help and be gentle on yourself (and promise to repeat this advice back to me soon) and thanks for answering my mundane worries.

AmIGoingMad · 05/06/2013 14:29

Aw don'tmind it will get better but don't rush yourself- you've just had major surgery. Get them to pass Eloise to you if needs be and just spend time cuddling! How has your DS reacted to his little sister?

It's lovely and sunny here in Wales! Unusually so! I've overdone it today so am just about to have nap as DS has gone to the park with my lovely in laws. Wanted to catch up first though as this thread moves so quickly!

Red I'm so glad that someone is finally fighting your corner for you! Fingers crossed that she gets somewhere!

Re yellowy greeny slime(!) I've been having that for a little while. I'm inclined to think its something to do with plug. Mw did want me to send a swab off for checking tho just in case.

With the raspberry leaf- how many are you taking? I have the 400mg ones from holland and barratt. Should I be taking one with each meal?

Also- I'm off to the big smoke of cardiff this wkend so was planning on getting bra measured. Where do you reckon is best- bravissimo or John Lewis? I'm not a big fan of m and s ( apart from their knickers atm. If anyone's struggling for comfy ones have a look at 'lace top high rise shorts' they are AMAZING!)

pinkapples · 05/06/2013 14:30

I'm in the south west and it is beautiful! Sat in the garden with the dogs pineapple juice in the glass and elephant feet lifted Grin they are massive today!

Since my little bit of slime this morning sadly nothing else to report its my birthday on Friday so hopefully she either comes out today/tomorrow (can't see it myself) or after Friday Grin would be nice sat/sun or mon as hubby is off but I don't suppose she's listened to my orders so far

rrreow · 05/06/2013 14:39

Bravissimo! They know what a good fitting bra looks like. Most department store staff do not. Also have a look at this: thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/p/fitting-advice.html

Hawkmoth · 05/06/2013 15:16

No concerns at midwife. Have bought a gym ball, bouncing on it now. DS keeps smacking my back which is hanging out of my trousers. Lovely.

learnermummy · 05/06/2013 15:55

AmI, mine are the 400mg holland Barrett ones and I'm currently taking 4 per day, but might up that now am 38 wks.

Clary sage oil is meant to help too isn't it?

pinkapples · 05/06/2013 16:11

One of the mums at work tried to tell me about that castor oil today ConfusedConfused I don't think ill be trying that one!

Mawgatron · 05/06/2013 16:27

Glorious weather here too, and I am in a little town called Bedford in the south east! So by the sounds of it the weather has perked up everywhere!

Haven't been taking any raspberry leaf tablets, is it too late to do that now (38+3)? I can nip into town tomorrow and grab some. Also munching pineapple and drinking it too, my good friend runs a lovely organic juice bar just round the corner from my house and she keeps mixing me up pineapple concoctions.

Oh my goodness, I have rediscovered the market! That is so going to be my new fave haunt. I got rhubarb, a MASSIVE bag of cherries, strawberries and raspberries for under a tenner! I am going to try and remember to save my fruit and veg shopping until Wednesdays! And I have a whole year to mince down there on a Wednesday to fill up my pram basket! I could get used to this motherhood malarkey!

Watched a couple of episodes of one born this morn. It just made me really impatient- I am so excited to have this little baby. Trying not to be in denial about how painful this process is actually going to be. It will be fine, right?

Mawgatron · 05/06/2013 16:29

Oh, and they told us not to try castor oil at ante natal- apparently all it will do is go straight through you and has no actual links to bringing on labour.

She then recommended sex- apparently worked both times for her. Dh will be pleased...

learnermummy · 05/06/2013 16:58

Think it was the threat of caster oil that got DS2 moving in the end! Think it basically gives you the runs and the bowel movements help labour start - not much fun!

redwellybluewelly · 05/06/2013 17:17

dont do the castor oil can also make you very sick indeed! Unless quite frankly if copious amounts of diarrhoea at the same time as giving birth appeals Grin a girl on my AN board tried it last time and regretted it.

think sex was the trigger for my labour last time. Although a friend swears by painting her toenails!

I'm having some rather strong BH and feeling horrendously nauseous, hoping its due to lack of food rather than imminent labour.

OP posts:
pinkapples · 05/06/2013 17:44

Don't worry I quickly ruled it out! Grin

Well nothing more to report hubby is home early which is nice and he's just selling his car then will be in with me hopefully we do have to walk the dogs tho so will do that see if I can get something going

We've dtd and I've been eating pineapple like its going out of fashion may have to start on the curries but not sure if I can i hate spicy food at the best of times Hmm will just have to wait it out I suppose and Sod's law shell be here on my birthday (7th) or my sisters (14th) which would be crap!

ginauk84 · 05/06/2013 18:07

Raspberry leaf tablets - mine are 750mg & taking two at a time - I googled it and that was what was suggested.

Weather - west midlands here, been rubbish, 17 degrees and cloudy all day. Just as well as have been stuck inside baking for work - baileys & malteser cheesecake, baileys fudge, cupcakes & coffee cake. Should go down well! Hubby has gone mad as said I should be resting ra ra ra lol!

My boss did the castor oil thing but it's not recommended, I certainly won't be trying it.

Re nappy changes, how often would you say is normal for a newborn - people keep telling me you will got through nappies like mad but had sort of thought it would be after a feed?

rrreow · 05/06/2013 18:26

Disposable nappies are pretty absorbent for wee but mostly you end up going through so many nappies because a newborn poos a lot. Especially if breastfed they can do a poo for every feed and the changing schedule is the same at night as there isn't really a distinction between day & night at first. I'd say 8-12 nappies per 24 hours is about normal.

ginauk84 · 05/06/2013 18:27

Just seen the news on the chemical thing, oh dear bought some new nom-stick pans the day before last and have been using them! Oh really it's a bit ridiculous, they don't even have any studies/evidence to support it!

rrreow · 05/06/2013 18:28

I use reusables so gearing up for A LOT of laundry! Grin I kind of look forward to it though, the nappies are so cute.

MrsBri · 05/06/2013 18:42

I'm not going down the castor oil or the EPO route. And I certainly won't be eating 7 pineapples! :-)

We still need to DTD. Maybe tonight or tomorrow. Or both!! See how that goes.

I'm not sure about raspberry leaf as it says to not take it if you've had bleeding in 2nd half of pregnancy, but doesn't clarify what kind of bleeding. As I've had 2 bleeds (due to an ectropian - or something, I forget the exact spelling - on my cervix) I'm not sure if I'm allowed. I probably would take it if I was sure I could.

AmIGoingMad · 05/06/2013 19:03

Right I think I'll avoid castor oil and start the raspberry leaf tomrw. Think I'll start it off with one after breakfast, one after lunch then also do one after dinner after two days of two- or is that a bit cautious!

Have also posted in food and recipes as I'm looking for some inspiration on the batch cooking and freezing front- I've fond bolognese. Have chilli and curry on the list but looking for more summery options and also some that DS will also at least have a go at! Any go to recipes from you ladies?

ginauk84 · 05/06/2013 19:18

Raspberry leaf is supposed to just make the uterus more elastic so I don't think there's any need to be cautious as it doesn't bring on labour. Re bleeds I wonder if because it's more elastic it could make you bleed again if you have already had bleeds.

Just heard mother in law is coming over (lives abroad) near to my due date and am not looking forward to that as she has to give her opinion all the time, I just wanted it to be me & hubby Hmm She's already said she doesn't think the dogs and cat should be around baby and should stay out which I completely disagree with - they're part of the family! Makes me so angry Confused

learnermummy · 05/06/2013 19:22

Been looking into clary sage oil and apparently you can either put few drops in bath, dilute and massage bump with it, or put on cotton wool balls under pillow. Might try one of those at 39 weeks. Also good inhaled for pain relief apparently.

bunglecat77 · 05/06/2013 19:26

The BBC Good Food site has a long list of stuff they recommend for freezing here which might give you one or two ideas: freezablerecipes

Can't say I've tried them all (!), and lots are quite wintry, but the fishcakes were very nice Smile

I might try living on salad after the birth - not sure I'll fancy standing over the cooker much in the summer months.

SunnyL · 05/06/2013 19:31

Hello all. Just been round my sisters with a bunch of already mummy's. Apparently both my sister and I were 14 days late which backs up my suspicion that this one is going to be very late. I'm out for lunch with my NCT gang tomorrow though so will be getting cuddles off a new born baby since that is meant to be another trigger for bringing on labour. Not sure I fancy the pills up my foof or castor oil particularly!

On other news I've had someone try to scam me this afternoon. Got a text message off a new number pretending to be my friend who has just changed her number. Then started asking me to send me phone credit because they were in a difficult situation. Thankfully my 'bullshit' ometer went a bit wild at this point and worked out it wasn't my friend but some scammer. Absolute gits - I'm used to getting scam e-mails but not texts. So beware ladies - some unpleasant people out there.
