Congrats on new baby not at all jealous

Re weight. Now that baby has dropped i've got a horrible poochy bit of belly. Ruddy hoping breast feeding will suck all those kit kats and cadburys caramels out of me. Been so bloody badly behaved for months because everyone kept telling me i was neat. Now i have a summer of weddings to go to and regretting all that chocolate.

pinkapples · 01/06/2013 22:47

Awww congrats on the new baby boy robin and again not jealous at all

Am naming to breast feed so hopefully that will help Grin

Have been having some rather strong (what I can assume are Braxton hicks) pains this evening I don't think it's anything apart from irritating but its a bit exciting that something is obviously going on in there Grin

Need chocolate!

ginauk84 · 01/06/2013 22:57

Congrats tea sounds a lovely experience!

Re losing weight, Physio said to me if I breastfeed then it will take longer for my SPD to disappear and I wasn't overly bothered about breast feeding but was going to give it a try. Now I think I will choose to formula feed. Also have seen mixed studies etc about whether it is breast feeding that makes you lose weight, some say it's a myth, some say it's true - difficult to tell as everyone's metabolism is different.

I hope to just get on the cross trainer and go for walks and was thinking about slimfasting it too because a) wont be breast feeding and b) it's quick and easy food lol!

MrsBri · 01/06/2013 23:05

Ooh, congrats, Tea! Sounds not so bad at all! :-)

no jealousy here either

Littlemissexpecting · 01/06/2013 23:13

Sarah I also have no sex drive, DH doesn't seem too bothered.
Tea congratulations!! Very jealous!!
With regards to losing weight, I'm going to try breastfeeding and hope for the best with the weather so we can get out and about with lots of walking with the pram.
Not sure how much meeting friends for coffee and cake will help but they do say you need extra calories with breast feeding.

pinkapples · 02/06/2013 00:10

Well ill be walking the dogs 2 times a day (hopefully if I have the energy) and breast feeding should help if all goes to plan although I do have PCOS so losing weight may prove difficult but have always put it off as always wanted a baby and when I have her here I will have no excuse anymore Confused so may have to make some effort going to drop her with grandparents as well for an hour or so so I can go swimming (as soon as I'm allowed obviously)

Steffanoid · 02/06/2013 01:09

yep everythings stopped, had some acrobatics this evening, no more pains though,

congrats on baby robin Smile

on the sex front we have twice since October, it's very difficult with the huge hard lump in.your bellyBlush
om planning.on.walking and bc to get rid of some weight and see what happens from there

elsabel · 02/06/2013 02:54

tea congratulations on baby robin, lovely name (were considering it for our little girl, i thikk its beautiful for both). Flowers

Hopefully it starts up for you again soon steff and baby is giving you chance to get your energy.

pink hope your BH turn into something soon.

Im getting contractions every 10 minutes, and a smallish one every 5. Anyone else awake? Theyre stopping me sleeping now.

On the lsing weight front im hoping lots of dog walking and breastfeeding will work for me!

Sarah2506 · 02/06/2013 05:25

Loosing weight may be more of a possibility if I'm not having two breakfasts every day, the first at 5am?!

I will be pram power walking as soon as recovered from CS. I will hope to BF but my understanding is that whilst it burns calories you have a ferocious appetite so it's harder to diet. I do regret my three stone. Wish it was less!

ginauk84 · 02/06/2013 06:51

Awake early damn SPD, I have also put on about 3 stone so I regret that as it will be difficult to lose but hopefully we have a nice summer so can walk loads and do the garden.

Am awake thinking about cakes to bake for work & really want a raisin whirl from sainsburys (they're the best) last two occasions they haven't had any in! Perhaps that's a good thing - why do they have to close early on Sunday - could have got done after work otherwise!

MrsBri · 02/06/2013 08:03

Elsabel, any news?

On the losing weight topic, breast feeding, cross trainer and walking are going to be key for me. I lost two stone the other year with walking and the cross trainer, so want to replicate that once I'm able to get exercising again.

DH is now muttering that 37 weeks is too early to trying induction through DTD. Hmmm...he needs to shape up. Easy for him to want to wait, not being pregnant!

elsabel · 02/06/2013 08:34

Went to hospital in the night for checking and monitoring as was losing blood (not much but they wanted to check just in case). All fine, baby ok. Just things getting started so we came home, contractions still every 5mins, i guess theyre mild in comparison to how they will get but they still bloody hurt!! Im hoping this really is it and it doesnt stop and start.

Hows everyone this morning ? Its a beaut of a day!

AmIGoingMad · 02/06/2013 08:38

Morning all! Sorry I've been AWOL for a couple of days and then loads to catch up on!

Oli- I hope that the op went well for Joe and that he's doing well. And that you are doing well too. Am thinking of you.

Madamej I hope that you've had some good news from your dad.

Congratulations tea! I hope we all have such positive experiences!

Rue- glad that the antibiotics are kicking in and that you've stopped shivering- must've been scary and unpleasant to say the least!

Sarah- same here on the dtd front. We're planning to go away for two nights this wkend but not sure that'll feature!

Georgie- is it this wkend you're moving? Good luck!

I've got a haircut and baby shower today so am very excited ! And the sun is shining!

Happy Sunday everyone!Smile

AmIGoingMad · 02/06/2013 08:39

X post! Oo how exciting elsabel! Keep us posted!Smile

DontmindifIdo · 02/06/2013 08:46

Elsabel - that sounds fabulous! good luck!

re the baby weight - my SIL is a personal trainer and has always said 9 months on, 9 months (or longer) off - not to rush it. I'm planning on breast feeding, it's basically my plan, that and walking lots. Was thinking once this one is 6 months I might try to pick up a cheap off road buggy second hand and do some long walks or runs. The big one for me last time, I lost lots of baby weight, looked great, gave up breast feeding at 5 months and didn't cut my calorie intake at that point, suddenly I went up 2 dress sizes and that took another 5-6 months to lose. This time, no breastfeeding = no biscuits - I can't do that again! (This is v hard because at every play date or baby/toddler group you'll be offered biscuits and/or cake)

redwellybluewelly · 02/06/2013 09:28

I figure 9 months on, 9 months off. Myself and other friends have found that the hunger which comes from breastfeeding in the first months is like nothing else on this earth. Never never have I needed to eat that badly, not even in this pregnancy - but I ate completely the wrong things so simply put on a lot more weight. I started to seriously lose weight when DD was about 18 months using a lower carb diet, but the last half stone didnt go until I finished feeding DD whereupon it vanished overnight.

Something I did find (which I assume is just nature) was that trying to 'diet' when she was younger really affected my supply. I think Slimming World does a plan which you can start after the six week check. This time I'm intending on far more exercise - mainly due to toddler - in the first six months and then return to a LC diet. Although I do have four cakes generously portioned in our freezer.

Dontmind a relative of mine did what you did, lost any baby weight v quickly but then stopped feeding baby and carried on eating and ballooned!

MrsBri · 02/06/2013 10:46

I'll keep my fingers crossed it is happening, Elsabel. :-)

No DTD for me today as DH decided it was a good idea to sleep until 10, with me lying next to him bored, hungry and pissed off for well over 2 hours.

Anyone would think it was hard work watching somebody grow a baby. :-/

maisiebeem · 02/06/2013 12:34

Hello ladies, again I've got lots to catch up on! Arlo and I went back into hospital for couple of nights, as I was feeling very weak, (due to low iron) and he was very jaundice (turns out he'd hardly been getting any food from me! :(
Had a real bad case of the baby blues, was crying to everyone who came into my room at the hospital, even the lady who asked what I wanted for lunch!
We've come to the decision to stop bf, and just formula feed. Arlo is looking so much better for it, and I am far far far less stressed. I do have at the back of my mind this feeling that I'm letting him down though. I was addiment I would breast feed (despite having inverted nipples) and I just feel I've failed by giving up!

Hope all are well, and those who's little ones are hopefully getting a wriggle on out of them are doing so in as pain free way as possible!

MrsBri · 02/06/2013 13:06

Maisie, you haven't let Arlo down at all. You're keeping him fed, which is what is best for him.

You're overflowing with hormones at the moment, so feeling blue isn't a surprise.

Just look after yourself and take care. You're doing what's best for your baby. :-)

massagegirl · 02/06/2013 14:23

Aw Maisie. My little one has jaundice too and I'm struggling with the feeding too. I know that guilt but really you are doing the best by getting food into him.
The baby blues are crazy... Yesterday I cried a lot. Today is better. Look after yourself... Lots of cake and choc l reckon!
If he's on formula look at the positives, get your OH to do some feeds while you catch up on sleep.. Then Arlo will have a mummy who is rested and happy. X

RueDeWakening · 02/06/2013 15:32

Oh buggering bollocks. DS has lost weight again - 100g off this time, after putting on 250g last weigh in. So we're still not discharged from the MWs :(

Someone's coming to weigh him at home on Wednesday, then we've to go back to the hospital next Saturday too.

Have cracked and bought some ready made formula, am contemplating tanking him up on it before the weigh-ins...don't really want to but by god I want us to be discharged now. What to do...

Hawkmoth · 02/06/2013 15:55

Sorry to hear that Rue. Are they measuring him as well? After a nightmare with DD I am so sceptical about different midwives and different scales, there can be such a difference.

massagegirl · 02/06/2013 16:02

Rue I've got them on my case too. Weigh in tomorrow. Trying to feed like a crazy woman!

Steffanoid · 02/06/2013 16:11

maisie dont worry about it, would you rather have him om your noon getting nothing or ff knowing he's getting food? you're doing best by him Thanks

guys with the mw visits, its nice to know they're keeping a close eye on things, like someone else said try and make sure they're using the same scales each time

things will get better, positive thoughts coming your way

pinkapples · 02/06/2013 17:22

Sorry to hear your having a hard time Maisie but like people have said don't feel you've failed as you are doing your best and its better that he's getting fed Thanks

I am willing this baby out with all my might and it doesn't seem to be helping hay ho its my birthday on 7th so would like her to be before then if possible
