What a milestone, falcon!
How are you feeling now? Smile

roofio87 · 09/06/2013 20:14

oh my, I'm just attempting to knit a jumper for lo and let me tell you he better enjoy wearing it for all the effort its taking!! its so complicated, I'm not even sure I've done bits right!!Haha

Slippysnow · 09/06/2013 20:27

Wow, I just counted the latest post on the stats thread and there are over 80 ladies listed!!! I wonder how many people are lurking, come out and let us know how you are doing and whether you know the gender!

MrsO27 · 09/06/2013 21:02

We went to Ikea yesterday orange. Got the white Hensvik cot and the sprung mattress as well as a Hemnes chest of drawers and a chair and footstool for nursing. I like that the simplicity of the ikea cots and they're just as sturdy as other more expensive ones we've looked at. Spent just over £450 in total which I don't think is bad considering what some nursery furniture can cost. We've also decided today on the iCandy peach 2 pushchair/carrycot and the maxicosi pebble car seat with isofix base, which is coming in at over £1k - eek! Just as well we saved some money on the furniture!

Smitten1981 · 09/06/2013 21:30

Mrs O - we have that chest of drawers, they're fab and just the right height for changing if you put a mat on top.

I think I'm going to get their rocking chair thing too and a footstall. I was looking at those today.

DH said that last night I woke him up at about 4am as I was panting really loudly in my sleep and saying "I don't want to be here".

I had a dream that I was in a haunted house and couldn't escape. I'm having so many crazy pregnancy dreams. Can't believe I was actually making enough racket to wake him up!

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/06/2013 21:30

I love ikea. Especially when thinking about building my little nest for my new baby. We are going for the stuva cot as I liked the draws at the bottom and that the side panels can be removed to make a bed later, but that one does look pretty MrsO and also felt sturdy.

We are thinking Icandy pram too. My friend is so enthusiastic about her bugaboo bee she could be a saleswoman but I don't think it suits us we don't live quite such urban lives as her and I am not overly keen on the look of it. I like that the peach and the apple can be converted to doubles too to save money if we have a second baby soon (getting a bit ahead of myself I know!). The apple is cheaper and can be folded without removing the seat, but want to try them out in real life before deciding. DHs grandmother has offered to buy it for us which is lovely (though I am not sure if she realises how much they cost so we may have to top it up!)

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/06/2013 21:35

Smitten a chest of drawers was our plan for a changing tale too but the only ones we can fit into the space in our tiny baby room are quite narrow and I am not sure they would be safe. So we are now thinking of getting a cot top changing mat with a hard base like this one which looks good value. Has anyone these before?

Smitten1981 · 09/06/2013 21:39

I think the cot top changing tables are a great idea. I'll be getting one if the chest of drawers idea doesn't work.

Pram wise I'm going to hold out for the Bugaboo Buffalo (thanks for the tip-off whoever posted about that on here). Although if it's not out by September I'll be getting a Cameleon.

My colleague who has a 2 year old said to get a Bee, but I don't like the design of them either.

MrsO27 · 09/06/2013 21:57

We actually went for the bigger 6 drawer chest of drawers smitten, thinking the storage would be handy for clothes as well as toys etc. too (i hate clutter!) so makes it a bit big for the changing mat on top, but saw the over the cot changing ones in John Lewis today (so thinking about that orange). Ikea have a portable/folding changing table I wanted to look at but it was out of stock at the Edinburgh store. We got the Boliden chair and footstool. It doesn't rock but has a little bounce!
I really love the iCandy peach orange, the apple was a close second, and definitely a plus that they can be converted into a double Smile. Our local John Lewis has the whole range in stock to try out and test. Staff were super helpful too. The bugaboo range is nice, but just love the iCandy. It's like wedding dress shopping, you just know when you've found the one! Haha!

Shirehobbit · 09/06/2013 22:00

I love Ikea furniture....once it is constructed and in my home. I find visiting the store a bit of a nightmare and putting it together afterwards a chore.

ComtessedeFrouFrou · 09/06/2013 22:01

Hello strangers GettingObsessive posting here under my sparkly new NN.

Haven't checked in for a while and looks like I would be able to keep up if I did - blimey, I thought I was chatty Grin

22+3 and all seems to be going fine. Anomaly scan was all normal and we didn't find out the sex, so we'll just have to keep in waiting.

Buggy bought - we went for the Uppababy Vista in Cole, and bought this early because they're discontinuing it and it was on offer. Just started decorating the nursery - well, DH has, I have spent the day re-lining our bedroom curtains with black out lining. I've only managed one curtain of two pairs so far, partly because they're huge and party because you have to do most of it by hand.

Sorry if I'm late to the party, but have you all started thinking about/deciding on names?

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/06/2013 22:21

Congrats on the scan comtesse :)
Very impressed with your sewing skills!

roofio87 · 09/06/2013 22:22

Eeee, just a sneak peek at the June thread, can't wait till its all of our babies arriving!!Smile

roxvox · 09/06/2013 23:34

Thanks for all of your replies re feeling emotionally attached to your DH's; glad it's not just me! And it has really helped to be able to show him that some of you are going through the same and it is not just his crazy wife! He was offended at first though, when he read my post and thought that DH stood for D**k Head...!

roxvox · 09/06/2013 23:40

Feminist thank you for pointing out the Mothercare deal on the affinity! It ends July 7th, so hopefully that will give me time to convince DH that it's the buggy for us Smile Having said that, he really wants a 3 wheeler (not sure why) and today we saw a Bugaboo Cameleon that he quite liked (although wasn't so keen on the price tag, but I told him we could always buy second hand if that ended up being our favourite).

Really pleased because there's a Kiddicare opening up relatively close to use (40 mins drive as opposed to a few hours) this Tuesday, so hoping we'll be able to compare a load of prams at once in there.

Roofio having read that I went and took a peek! Kind of scared that we all do chat too much as they are only on thread no 8, but it's lovely to see people saying that they've had their baby and naming them etc. Very exciting!

GTbaby · 09/06/2013 23:49

Oh rox which location is that? We have one opening near us soon. Not sure when tho.

roxvox · 09/06/2013 23:53

GTBaby it's at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol. I saw it on their website yesterday.

GTbaby · 09/06/2013 23:55

Oh no ours is west London. No where near each other Hmm. Lol

Ps my nov12 thread go at a rate of one thread a week. Try keeping up with that. The record has been 4days Shock

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/06/2013 07:15

I think I have joined the piles club :( really itchy. (Sorry tmi over breakfast!) Anusol ordered with the weekly shop...

I am loving mornings bonding with the baby at the moment. It had a long old wriggle this morning for nearly 5 minutes and did some nice big kicks for his/her daddy to feel and I am seeing it move my tummy now which is quite a bizarre thing to look at.

DH painted the door and skirting board in the baby's room last night, as we noticed it looking tatty while we masking taped out where the furniture might go, and the house still stinks of gloss. It looks much better now but fumes probably not great...

Scan tomorrow. Getting excited. Soon I will probably start getting nervous too.

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/06/2013 07:17

Also have to find a dress soon for a wedding in a couple of weeks as the maternity one I bought a couple of months ago ago from new look makes my boobs look like Anne widicombe's down at my waist (which they are not!) even DH admitted it looked frumpy. Serves me right for trying to get organised too early. I haven't worn it so hopefully can sell on ebay.

Irishfairy · 10/06/2013 08:04

Aw all of you becoming emotionally attached to your DP's, that's nice. You are all much lovelier than me, I've become much more irritated by him instead! I also have a touch of 'pregnancy rage' which someone else mentioned (but only directed at DH!) I definitely feel more hormonal this time and it doesn't help when DH doesn't pitch in around the house and says helpful things like "pregnancy is not an illness you know?" Shock
He was definitely more sympathetic and caring first time around...

Oh no Orange! I'd say welcome to the club but nobody wants to be in this one!!! If it gets worse I got an ointment in Boots (not prescription) called Germaloids and it is fine to use in pregnancy and it has numbing stuff in it which really helps!!!
I haven't added myself to the stats page as I couldn't figure it out on my phone. If anyone more technology savvy wants to add me that would be great: EDD 8th October, girl, no names yet. Smile

funkky · 10/06/2013 08:42

Thanks feminist for pointing out te B-Affinity deal! Def getting one, though will need a car seat plus iso-fix as well.

What color are you getting? Do you know if it converts to a tandem/ buggy?

funkky · 10/06/2013 08:53

Sorry meant tandem/ double?

HotSoupDumpling · 10/06/2013 09:44

Been away - this thread moves so quickly!

We've also had a fun trip to Ikea recently (no really, it's good fun! Depending on what time of the week you go and whether you like horse meatballs...) to get boxes to start clearing out the baby's room. Had a glimpse of the furniture but we're unlikely to buy any as we don't have much space in the room - it's just a study with space for a cot. Luckily there's already blackout lining on the curtains so we'll just swap the pictures on the wall for more 'baby-friendly' ones and put some baby bookshelves up.

Umlauf - we were in your area the other day - my god the baby clothes shops are expensive! Bought some stuff from Mayoral but that's all.

roxvox · 10/06/2013 09:52

I don't think it does convert to a double Funkky. Certainly nothing I have read on it suggests that it does anyway. As for colours, I am a bit disappointed in the choices, but when I saw the blue in real life it was a bit more vibrant than I was expecting, so I am hoping the others will be the same. If not then it will have to be black! How about you feminist?
