Morning all.
Any lovely plans today? I'm off for lunch with my bro and sis Grin been craving a roast for ages. N DH doesn't like them (Shock right) so looking forward to it.

Right better get out of bed. I can hear LO playing in his cot.

GTbaby · 02/06/2013 10:11

Clap. If you don't mind fitting them yourself I've got a good site I used lady year to order ours. Was Shock at general prices.

claphammama · 02/06/2013 10:27

thanks gt! could you PM me the link please? would really appreciate it. Not sure I trust myself or DP with fitting... but would be great to compare the prices and I'm sure we can find someone handy to fit them independently.

Tiffany Rose do gorgeous dresses for special occasions

OP posts:
Shirehobbit · 02/06/2013 10:28

Claphamama - that restaurant/night out sounds lush! (I'm feeling a bit cabin-fever-ish at the moment, like life is on hold a bit?)
As for outfits - there is a bit of a discussion on the FB group that might be helpful, also, with three weddings this summer, I've been ebaying and bought a gorgeous Tiffany Rose dress for one of them.

Flyer747 · 02/06/2013 10:38

Claphammama I'm too struggling to find nice maternity dresses, all I can find are tight ones and I really don't want to wear a tight maternity bodycon dress atm! There is definitely a market for nice/decent quality (none mumsy, none trampy) maternity wear at affordable prices, maybe I should go into business!

I'm like you in that me and DP are strong characters, probably him a little more so than me and we too like our own way and both to be right, I hate backing down! :-)

claphammama · 02/06/2013 10:41

thanks both! never heard about Tiffany Rose before - it looks great! didn't know maternity clothes could be so nice!

shire with a 4 year old I get this cabin fever feeling quite a lot. especially with no family around us and DP traveling a lot with work. You will see it gets better once you have your baby - now you are in a bit of a limbo but, once they arrive, you will have different priorities and it will be all worth it.

perhaps that's why I'm so excited about going out on Friday night. Or perhaps because we are going to Le Gavroche! I don't mean to be pathetic or annoying... I'm simply excited like a child.. if there is one man in this world who can compete with DP for my affection it's Michel Roux. DP knows! So yes, I will be spending our anniversary night salivating and lusting after another man! Need a good dress!!

claphammama · 02/06/2013 10:43

flyer a great business idea! I'm in! you can cover North, I can cover South :-)

Flyer747 · 02/06/2013 10:48

Sounds like a plan :-)

Shirehobbit · 02/06/2013 10:49

It's the affordable bit that would win me over! Wink Hence my e-baying - I can't justify £200 for a new one, but the one I bought there is as good as new and came with a matching bolero jacket.

Thanks Clapham - it definitely is a state of limbo at the moment. And I'm not meeting anyone in RL in the same boat as me as I am struggling to make aquanatal and antenatal yoga classes because of work. It has become a bit lonely.

Slippysnow · 02/06/2013 10:49

Hi all, i know it might not be to everybodies taste but I've found a dress for a wedding on Asos it fits your description of not being a bodycon dress

m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity/ASOS-Maternity-Exclusive-Midi-Dress-With-Knot-Front-And-V-Back/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2916541&cid=5813&Rf900=3717,1465&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=50&sort=-1&clr=Pearlgrey

Flyer747 · 02/06/2013 11:01

Yeah asos have some nice bits. Although I bought some shorts for hols off there and the fit isn't great, all baggy at the back of the waist! The is definitely a niche for affordable maternity wear which is nice, I'd love to do something like that as most ladies want to look stylish when pg but the clothes aren't great tbh and as you said I don't want to pay £200 for a dress I will wear a max of 2-3 times

claphammama · 02/06/2013 11:13

oh no shire... sounds like you are going through some hard times... you know you are legally entitled to take time off for exercise when pregnant? It includes things like pregnancy yoga etc... we all know these things can work differently in practice... but hope you can manage to find time for them and not feel guilty about it. Meeting other pregnant women would give you a new lease on life. I don't know where you live but I found it relatively easy to meet new people and make new mummy friends when I was on maternity leave. Much easier than when I was pregnant. I met other mums in the parks or cafes when I was going for walks with DS, most of them were on their own too and we had babies in common so it was so easy to talk to anyone. I also met who is now a very good friend in a baby clinic when I went for a check up with my 4 weeks old DS. So random! And NHS organise different baby massage / first aid classes where you can meet local mums. London is very difficult when it comes to making new friends otherwise but, once you have a baby, it gets easier. Hope you have the same experience where you are and things get better X

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/06/2013 11:18

Yes Clapham it was mein Tay. Yum yum.
Isabella Oliver are meant to do nice maternity dresses.

Shirehobbit · 02/06/2013 11:27

I really can't complain, Clapham, because I know how lucky I am - I will be off for most of July and August (teacher) Blush which will mean that I will be able to go to stuff during the day, too.
I'm just in the middle of my busiest time, with reports, exam marking, parents' evenings, concerts etc, - which always makes life difficult for a couple of months, regardless of being pregnant. But it does hit my evenings a lot, so I can't commit to classes.
I guess it just comes off the back of a first trimester which saw me coping with very little other than work and sleep. My friends, who are not even contemplating children for a few years yet, just didn't get it and I don't begrudge them for that at all.

The future is brighter, but I'm not the best at being patient Blush Wink

pinkbuttons · 02/06/2013 11:59

Thankyou for all the reassurance ladies, to be honest am mostly relieved my DH isnt the only one acting like this in my ridiculously hysterical state last night Id decided he didnt love me. Weve had a good chat today and turns out theres a risk of him losing his job which I was unaware of so hes feeling alot of pressure at work to work extra hours as well as feeling under pressure at home. Hoping it should all be sorted in a couple of weeks. Im also only working full time for 2 more weeks as were then moving so tried to explain we just have to get through these 2 weeks and I will be completely focused on new baby toddler him and house again. I actually cant wait to just have more time.

With regards to nice maternity wear Ive found isabella oliver also lovely but expensive. Ive invested in a new dress as have 3 weddings this summer am just going to wear the same one to them all Grin luckily theyre all different sets of friends and family and just planning to accesorize differently.
Agree on the need for affordable maternity wear though!

pinkbuttons · 02/06/2013 12:02

oops cross post with orange about isabella oliver dresses Smile

Flyer747 · 02/06/2013 13:32

Oh pinkbuttons, glad you sorted things out and had a good chat with your husband...and in 2 weeks it'll all seems loads better like you say.

After waiting what seems like an eternity for movements this baby is proper on the go today, constant feelings of popcorn popping sensation quite low down though....happy days, I may celebrate with a sly glass of shandy :-)

Shootingstarsandcomets · 02/06/2013 13:37

I was going to say Tiffany rose too and also Vanessa Knox for nice maternity.

Natalieand · 02/06/2013 13:40

As well as a market for affordable maternity clothes, they seriously need to consider the fact that ppl bigger than a size 18 actually do get pregnant as well and just cos they r bigger than an 18 that they can't get a bank loan out just to buy clothes that will only be any use for a few months!
Maternity clothes rant over!

Sorry some of u are having a hard time with your dh's/df's . It's similar in our house dh job is commission based so if he isn't putting the hours in he won't get the money, and as a result he's hardly home ATM and when he is here he don't wanna do anything other than sit on the sofa like a slob and I have to do all the housework and look after dd and grow a baby
Men eh!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine x

Soupqueen · 02/06/2013 16:10

flyer and clapham, if you include a petite range in your maternity clothing line, I'll be your best customer!

Shirehobbit · 02/06/2013 16:41

And don't forget a decent range of work wear as well as formal wear, too Wink

Slippysnow · 02/06/2013 16:47

Are people still wearing regular bras? I'm a bit confused about what to do. My boobs constantly change size before getting pregnant I was 32 e but I could open a shop on the various bras that I have bought and not fit or grown out of. They always seem comfy when I first put them on but end up with double boobs or falling out by the end of the day.

I've read not to bother buying maternity bras just buy nursing bras, conflicting advice says to buy nursing bras a month before due date. I just don't want to waste anymore money!

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/06/2013 17:04

My midwife suggested getting fitted for nursing bras at 36. I am in normal but soft cup bras.

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/06/2013 17:04

36 weeks that should say
