Yep we're all packed. I'm living out of a suitcase atm, we have bear minimum kitchen appliance usage and we're packing dd and the dog off on Tuesday night Grin
Tomorrow is crunch day though as thats when we exchange!

My MW came out to do a final check up on Wed. Everything was fine and she reckons baby is about 2.5/3lb atm so on line for average size. DD was 7lb 3oz so I'm not too worried. She did say he is very very low down though which is what is causing the discomfort down below.
I'm not sure if I have SPD as all that area feels very sore and bruised. It's taking me forever to get out of bed on a morning!

My weirdy passing out feelings are not health related (well kind of). After having a good chat with dh we figured that they are more panic attacks. God knows why it has juts started but atm the thought of being on my own freaks me out in case something happens. Stupid really.

Any hooooo

Pucca, your pics are fab! Very clear aren't they. Weird to think that you will see him in a few weeks Grin

Pinky, hope your dd's christening went well and you had something suitable to wear!

Booby, lol at your swimming pool Grin

Arabica, hope your doing ok. Nice to hear your buying some bits now Smile

Olivo, poor you feeling sick again (and you Luna!) Tell us what your dh got then Grin Going back to the heart rate, I've never been told mine. I just have FHRR (fetal heart rate regular) on my notes. Never actually looked to see what it is.

Micku, how you getting on with the diabetes? Are you treating it through diet or insulin?

MuminaQ, Welcome Smile

Eeny, your boss is a nob. I'll tell her if you want Grin

Sorry if I've missed anyone!
Back tomorrow!

pucca · 18/06/2006 22:48

Hi guys - it takes some catching up on this thread!!

I'm rather stressed out at the moment - bump is measuring 28 wks rather than 32 so I'm being referred to the hospital for a growth scan. It's measured consistently small all the way through, but at 28 weeks a different MW measured me as right size - so either I've stopped growing or she measured me wrong....
I'm now on my third midwife due to understaffing in our area and this one thinks it might just be a very small baby (dd was almost 9lb, and no-one in either of our families has ever had a baby below 8 lb so alarm bells are definitely ringing.) The other theory is low levels of amniotic fluid which I know is often a sign of other problems. At this stage with dd I had a big bump and weighed about 20 lbs more. This time I'm not even needing maternity clothes yet!
I finish work tomorrow and was loking forward to a relaxing 8 weeks with dd before baby arrives, but mw tells me that if baby is failing to thrive I may be taken in for a c-section right away. We go on holiday on Wed though, for 10 days so my scan is when I come back - which at least means I'll be 34 wks before this happens.
So I may end up with a July baby.... oh god, I'm so not ready yet...

mojomummy · 19/06/2006 09:44

Hi babylily, I'm also measuring a little small - 30 weeks instead of almost 33 weeks. I'm back to see the midwife next week. I do weigh almost the same as I did last pregnancy though - but the comment about low amniotic fluid is an interesting one. Do the baby movements feel different ? I'd don't remember uncomfortable movements last time & that's what I have this time...hope everything is ok with you...

babylily · 19/06/2006 10:23

Hi mojomummy,
Yes I feel movement differently too - it's actually quite shockingly sore when baby moves over sometimes and I can definitely feel more angles than last time. It also feels much more tight all round. It certainly feels like a big baby based on that - which makes me worry about the amniotic thing.

hoppybird · 19/06/2006 10:52

Morning everyone!

First of all Pucca - beautiful pictures! Wish we had money spare to get a 3D!

YF - is great you're exchanging, am a little envious of your imminent move - we haven't even managed to put our flat on the market yet (as orinially planned)!

Melsy - the hypnobirthing sounds fantastic.

Purpleturtle - I'd love to have a birth experience like yours, but narrow-hipped and STILL uncertain whether or not to go for a VBAC, LOL. Will be seeing the consultant this week, as talking to GP and MW hasn't really helped me decide at all.

Hello, MuminaQ! and everyone else too numerous to mention - glad to see you're all ok/resolving issues.

babylily - Another small bump here, with loads of comments ranging from "not very big, is it?" (grrr) to "that's a neat little bump" and, hilariously "so you're due in...December?" (Was getting a bit worried, especially since my first arrived 5 weeks early, IUGR so only 4lb). However, my MW, who measured me when I was nearly 30 weeks (27cm) said that plus or minus 2-4cm either way was completely acceptable. I'm only 150cm tall, so I guess for me that's in proportion. I'm 31 weeks now, next MW appointment mid-July. See what she says then - I'm telling myself it's all ok, and that worrying won't change anything in the slightest - easier said than done though.

Also, as far as I can tell, you're never, ever really ready for a baby anyway, no matter how much or how little 'stuff' you have, how mentally prepared (or not) you are. There's always something you don't expect. It's an inevitability that your baby will come out, whichever way, and you'll cope in the best way you can at the time. That's what we did the first time round, and it was fine. We'd just moved house the week before and had, literally, nothing ready and no money to buy stuff with. Once home from hospital, baby ended up sleeping in a drawer, his baby bath, car seat or on our papasan chair! No big deal. We had a roof over our heads and a baby safely home.

Saying that, I do have my own concerns - the biggests of which is about childcare for our ds during the birth. I must say though, that the 'schedulability' of an elective CS is very tempting when it comes to such matters :) What are other 2nd/3rd timers doing about childcare?

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 11:12

The position of the baby can make a big difference to measurements too Smile.

Hoppybird, I dread to think whats going to happen when I go into labour. Both sides of my family will be just over an hour away, my parents work full time so may not be instantly available IYSWIM and we don't know anyone where we are moving to either. I've wrote in my birth plan that my dd might have to be there if we can't get anyone down in time. Not ideal obviously but there isn't much else we can do. I can't see the hospital saying much about it.

babylily · 19/06/2006 11:35

hoppybird - I feel a little reassured by your mw saying 2-4cm either way can be ok. What caused your previous IUGR?

If everything is okay I also have the choice of an elective c-s as I had one last time for severe SPD. I'm very tempted by the idea knowing the date baby will be born, and then being able to make firm arrangements for dd - but I'm also tempted by the idea of having a 'natural'ish' birth, labouring in water, etc... and being home to dd in the minimum time too. I've got to make the final decision when I see consultant at 36 wks.

If I go overdue by 10 days I will need to have a c-s anyway - and will have no childcare as in-laws are all away on holiday, and my family are 500 miles away. I know friends would be happy to have her but we're conscious of her feeling a bit displaced by the new baby etc...
hmmmm. it was all so easy last time!

Micku5 · 19/06/2006 12:02

Morning all...... not staying on for too long. Am starving so I need to go and get some food.

It was dd's 3rd birthday yesterday and she loved every minute of her special day... especially the princess cake that we had made for her.

Diabetes levels are good atm am just treating it thru diet for now and fingers crossed it won;t get too out of control later. But i have 8/9 weeks to make sure of that.

Hope everyone else is fine/doing well.

eenywifemum · 19/06/2006 12:04

Happy Monday everbody!

Pucca those pics are so fantastic!!! Thanks so much for sharing them with us! I am sort of living vicariously through you at the moment since I dont think we can afford a 3D scan - it's nice to see what our baby boy is like and YOURS is so adorable!!! I just want to hold and cuddle him! You must be so happy & proud already! Sal is at work right now and I havent heard from him yet this morning so he must be really busy. I know he will be excited to see the pics too! Grin

Yellow hon I am not surprised if you have been having panic attacks as you have had so much stress about when you are moving! I really hope once you are settled you feel much better.

Babylily - I hope everything with your baby is fine. I'm sure it will be!! I've heard so many scare stories about women measuring small and then having perfectly normal babies - I wonder how much there actually is to measurments, unless something is drastically out. Good luck.

Yesterday baby was moving around SO much and I have to say, I was in agony much of the evening. It really really hurt. Enough to where I was randomly crying out in pain and had to take 2 paracetomal! I dont know what was going on - he has always been very active but this was just bizarre and non-stop and very sore. A couple of you have said this morning that you have had sore movements as well - could it just be normal for this stage? Any thoughts on what is going on?

eenywifemum · 19/06/2006 12:04

Micku - Glad your DD's birthday went so well!

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 12:11

Its probably baby getting himslef in a nice awkward position Eeny Grin
I actually thought my baby was coming out the other night. It felt like he was crowning it was that painful. I was even holding my bits!!!
Told the MW and she said it was because he had snuggled and pushed his head right down. She also said it will happen if you've been busy, which I had.

hoppybird · 19/06/2006 12:22

babylily - previous IUGR was due to 'low/no EDF', which basically means my placenta wasn't working properly.

We had just moved house on the Saturday (34 weeks pg), and I'd booked in at my new hospital on the Thursday, where the MW commented that baby was small for dates and booked an ultrasound the next week. The smallness hadn't been noticed before then. On the Friday, I kept a routine ultrasound scan at my old hospital - they had automatically scheduled me in for a late ultrasound, just their policy. The sonographer commented that EDF was low and liquor (amniotic fluid) was low as well, and I should maybe see one of the doctors there, but we didn't detect any sense of urgency, so we decided that we'd rather go to our new hospital the next day. During that very night, I had an upset tummy, then a show in the morning, I rang the new hospital, they said "come along, we'll see what's going on." and I ended up with an emergency CS within a very short space of time when they found that baby was in distress. He spent 3 weeks in SCBU, but is perfectly fine now.

It's not absolutely certain what caused the problems, but my GP reckoned that the stress of moving didn't help matters, and suggested I take the last trimester of this pregnancy really easy, and not to get stressed.

My mother is also far (300 miles away) and we don't really want MIL involved too much, for various reasons. I'm completely in two minds about the birth, and I'm finding it almost laughably impossible to decide on either VBAC or an elective, because of quicker recovery vs. easier childcare arrangements, and fear of the unknown vs. sense of acheivement to 'do it myself'. etc etc. But funnily enough, I'm not actually worrying about it as such, just literally finding it really impossible to make a decision.

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 12:31

I think you just have to do what you feel happy and comfortable with Hoppybird.
Now I have dd I can see why people opt for C-section regardless of a previous section.

Its a big deal for me, arranging childcare for the big day.
I'm so concerned about dd feeling left out or pushed out of the way but I'm relying on family to help us out with that. I'm sure they'll be round constantly when baby arrives.

eenywifemum · 19/06/2006 12:31

Thanks for the input Yellow. I was really busy yesterday - well I walked loads around Marks Hall country estate - much more walking/exersice than I normally do. The painful movements seem to be starting up again - I just hope it isnt like yesterday!

hoppy - your first birth must have been really scary. I dont have anything I can add which would help you make up your mind about how you want to deliver this baby but I hope you can come to a decision you are happy with.

olivo · 19/06/2006 12:34

Blimey, its busy on here today! I've lost trackalready of what i've just read Blush.Hi everyone! I dont envy those of you who have childcare to worry about on top of everything else.

not having a good day myself, have come home from work after falling to pieces, then going to the doctors to beg for something for my hayfever - the pharmacy would only recommend eyedrops. been given a nasal inhaler and told to start back on my 2 asthma inhalers as well.she offered to sign me off but I think i'll be fine once i can breathe enough to get some sleep!! (sorry for the whinge, I know lots of you are having a much harder time)

seeking refuge in some aero bubbles before a sleep this afternoon.

Salamander · 19/06/2006 12:37

PUCCA - haven't had time to read all these wonderful new messages on here, but I just wanted to say THAT PIC IS AMAZING

it's excellent seeing that - i can totally picture our boy like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salamander
PROUD DAD OF ALEXANDER

eenywifemum · 19/06/2006 12:42

Olivo I really feel for you! It's awful when you cant treat a health problem. I hope taking your inhalers helps! Give it a few days and if you really are still miserable consider getting signed off because its too hard to work like that.

melsy · 19/06/2006 12:43

IM the same Olivo , I read all of it , think ahh I really feel for each persons situation and then get in a tis trying to remeber who said wot, and thats like a few mins after reading it all, I can normally only remebr the last 2 posts!!

aww olivo , poor you havng hard time though (((hugs))). You may be need some homeopathic treatment, theres a place in London I call sometimes for advice on what to take. Ill see if I can find it, thats if you want to check out that route????

Yellow you have my sympathies too , I do have some breathing techniques written on here somewere in my accounts of hypnotherapy ,do you want me to find them?? My therapist stopped severe panic attacks within a few weeks. Although my mum did say its very common at this stage to get increased anxiety and tearfullness. ((((HUGS))) to you too.

Off to hospital now for appt with Senior midiwfe , am so nervous , Ive written about it in whacky therapy thread on pregnancy. Think Ill also shove in some choc and crisps before I go!!! bit of comfort needed.

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 12:52

I'm going to go and read your thread like I promised the other week (have it in my saved threads).
I'm ok atm but had a bit of a do when dh left for work. Its being on my own thats causing it.

Arabica · 19/06/2006 13:39

Hello everyone, painters are hard at work stinking out my flat so I'm back in the internet cafe--this one smells of omelettes and bad coffee, but doesn't actualy serve anything to eat! I'm feeling nauseous today, so it's really not helping.
I've also got the can't remember who posted what disease, but I did check out Pucca's pix--wow!
My baby's having a quiet day today but was enjoying making me VERY uncomfortable late yesterday afternoon when we were having a picnic. It felt as though it was trying to push its head out through my rib cage. Perhaps it wanted some of DS' ice-cream!

SnowBoo · 19/06/2006 14:11

Well advise needed ladies. Am 33+3 (can't quite believe it!) and am getting some seriously painful BH's. Making me feel really sick with each one and they have been coming on and off since last night. Is this normal????

Will take a mo to read thru as missed soooo much again!

New craving: Cucumber. At least one a day. And tried a new soap but wasn't the same so back to the Dove.

babylily · 19/06/2006 14:55

snowboo - If I were you I'd ring your midwife to see what she thinks.
Wth my dd I had a similar experience and had to go into hospital to spend a couple of hours on the monitor just to be sure it wasn't the real thing.
Better to be certain than end up delivering your baby down the toilet (as one of the younger members of my antenatal group did when she wasn't sure if it was real contractions or not!)

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 14:56

SnowBoo, its quite ok to get BH's and quite a few in second pregnancies. Not sure about the sickness though. Give your MW a call if you still feel the same later as it will have been going on for 24 hrs then.

Really Angry
Still not heard anything from the solicitors and we should be exchanging today!!!!
