hello PF2 Smile

glad everything is going well.

BigHotMama · 05/06/2006 16:57

Hello PF2, great to hear from you! We were starting to wonder where you had got to? Glad to hear everything is ok with you and your little ones. Grin Have you measured your bump lately in loo roll sheets yet? (my dh pissed himself when he saw me doing this!)

Wow Yellow you've really thought about your birth plan in detail! I just havent got a clue what to write and have had so many people tell me not to bother because either midwives probably wont look at it or things never go to plan..so may just write as if I could actually have my ideal/dream birth! I'm preparing myself for absolutely anything and everything really! At first didnt want any pain relief but am starting to have thoughts of being unable to cope? I'm also wondering what my pain threshold will be like as I've never broken a bone or anything so never even been inside a hospital other than visiting other people. Just dont know what on earth to expect! Hoping my 1st antenatal class will put me at ease tomorrow. Shock

sarahlou1uk · 05/06/2006 19:49

Hi all. Yellow - I would only add one thing to your birth plan - if an episiotomy is needed WANT local anesthestic!! Believe me, you will thank me for it if you need one!!!!!

lunavix · 05/06/2006 19:52

Hi everyone! Will be copying that birthplan YF can't really be bothered writing my own! Noone paid it any attention last time!

Debating between midwife unit and hospital as per a thread I started under childbirth - will be seeing midwife thursday and begging for a tour as we're out of catchment (it's another county Blush )

I'm still chewing sponges :) I'm gaining quite a lot of weight too even though my eating has calmed down (from 17 - 27 weeks was eating everything in sight, think to make up for starvation first 17 weeks!) In a lot of bump pain, bump looks high up but baby never moves higher than bellybutton, and it's agony to walk.

Dreading summer holidays, am working up till my due date (whose silly idea was that!) but really don't want it to come early so will try and relax. We're going on hoiday saturday yippee!

Neither dh or I seem too bothered by baby shopping! By about 25 weeks with ds we'd bought everything plus ten times more, we just haven't now. Whats everyone thinking on sterelisers and car seats??

Finally sorted out some space in our room, need to have a big move around and hopefully might be able to fit a baby in!

pucca · 05/06/2006 19:56

YF...Sorry only just managed to get back on Smile

I am feeling pretty nervous about the section, in fact i am sh**ing myself lol, but it needs to be done, feel a bit sad too that i won't get the utter joy i felt after all the hard work of pushing dd out, but best to go for the safest option which section is.

YellowFeathers · 05/06/2006 20:11

Glad you mentioned that Sarahlou because I was wondering. I had internal stitches with dd and they gave me a local for that but it still hurt like hell Grin

Enjoy your holiday Luna. We haven't bought anything yet no doubt dh will have one of his mad spending moments in the coming weeks and we'll do a mad shop in Mothercare.
Ok I tell a lie I have bought 2 body suits and 2 outfits (the Pumpkin Patch one came on Saturday and is gorgeous).

Pucca, it will still be a lovely moment though. In fact I'm kind of envious in a way because for those of you having a section, you know when its going to happen and can prepare yourself for it IYSWIM.

Arabica · 05/06/2006 22:31

Hi everyone, am back from another day in the hospital waiting room! They forgot to take my notes around to the consultants and so I ended up waiting from 11.30am to 4.15pm. Because last time the wait was 3hrs I just thought they were typically overbooked.
Baby is growing well but there is still too much fluid on the brain so an immediate op is looking more and more likely Sad. However, I won't know for certain for at least another 4 weeks.

dressedupnowheretogo · 05/06/2006 22:33

well hi ya welcome back p42 glad your well misty i hope your appt went well

well no gestational diabetes but two lots of blood and much buttering of veins later i now have huge bruise on the crease of my elbows and a very swollen left arm ahhhhhh they have tested me again coz of my skin itching for the liver colitisus thing

and because seven day after my due date is a bank hoilday monday they have booked me in with the consultant the day before im due so no sweep so god knows do they only have antenatal apptionmets on certasin days im at the qmc in nottingham its a huge hospital surely they could just see me on the tuesday grrrrrrrrrrrShock puzzled and confused

spent all day shopping get your selves down to boots theyre mini mode stuff is half off and if you spent 15 quid you get 500 points and because i bougth no7 eyeliner and a stay perfect eyeshadow i got a free gift and i also qualify got a total 1500 points so with thehalf price voucher from the parenting club i got the tommee tippee nappy bin for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Arabica · 05/06/2006 22:35

That doesn't quite make sense--I mean, an op immediately after the baby is born, of course!
Pucca, what is it about having a C-section that's worrying you? Maybe those of us who've had previous sections can reassure you.

PinkTulips · 05/06/2006 23:03

i sunburned my bump! Blush it's soooo sore i wanna throw up and dp is laughing his ass off at me!

hi P42, glad you're ok Smile

Feathers, this is going to be a really stupid question but i honestly don't know, do you give the BP to the hospital to put in your notes or do you bring it yourself in your labour bag? sorry, i told you that would be a stupid question Blush

arabica, at least they didn't find any additional problems pet, poor you and baby though having to go through the operation after birth, at least you have time to prepare though.

pucca · 05/06/2006 23:06

Arabica...I dunno just the whole thing in general really, being cut open, the tugging of getting the baby out, the recovery...the lot really lol, the only thing i am not bothered about is the spinal, as i had one to be repaired after my 3rd degree tear with my dd.

The only plus side is i will know what day, and can organise myself properly everything else i am dreading lol.

I am not squeamish at all, i think it is just that i have never had any kind of operation ever, i am not scared as such i suppose, its just i am very nervous, and the waiting is driving me mad, i wish i could just get it over and done with iykwim.

YellowFeathers · 05/06/2006 23:13

Arabica Sad about the operation. Like pinky said at least they didn't find any additonal problems.
I can't believe you were there all that time too!

Pinky, drink lots of water and pile on the moisturiser.
Don't you have a birth plan section at the back of your notes? I have wrote mine on a seperate piece of paper so that when I eventually see a MW again, they can have a look through it and then I'll write it in the notes section so it will go into hospital with me. Don't you have your notes at home?

Booby, well done on the bargain purchases! Our nappy bin was a god send when we had dd. It saved lots of trips to the outside bin in the middle of winter!

eenywifemum · 05/06/2006 23:19

where are you going on holiday, luna?

Pinktulips, I obviously havent had a birthplan before as this is my first baby but I read on the internet that it's a good idea to take several copies with you when you go into labour so if there is a shift change of midwives you can give the new midwife the birthplan.

Arabica I am so sorry you have to face an operation on your little baby. Does it help to know ahead of time? Do you have a lot of support from family & friends?

Booby glad you dont have diabetes - I was tested for the liver thing but it turned out to be my baby oil that was causing the itching/rash!

Am not too happy right now as I know I face yet another sleepless night! I just wish I could go to bed and fall asleep!! It's so lonely being up all night by myself! Salamander says to wake him up when I cant sleep but he needs his rest too so I dont want to do that.

eenywifemum · 05/06/2006 23:21

Pinktulips, aloe vera is really good for sunburn if you have any around. Does anybody know why pregnant women produce more of that chemical that makes you burn easily?

YellowFeathers · 05/06/2006 23:21

Am just about to head off to bed but won't sleep well as dh is at work.
Have you got a good book to fall asleep to or could you watch a bit of tv?

(I like to stick UKGold on and Paramount to watch all the comedies)

eenywifemum · 05/06/2006 23:27

well I dont have any good books at the moment - I need to get out to a book shop ASAP!! But I think I am going to take a nice bath and hopefully that will relax me enough to knock me out!!

YellowFeathers · 05/06/2006 23:28

Must sleep otherwise I will be a walking zombie when dd shouts me in the morning.

Have a good bath!

eenywifemum · 05/06/2006 23:33

goodnight yellow!! I'm off for my soak...

Arabica · 05/06/2006 23:34

Pucca, if you've never had an operation before, it's good to start with one where you get a nice present at the end of it! I actually thought having a spinal/epidural was the worst bit of mine (in that I was having contractions when they did it, as mine was an emergency section, and I had to sit still). The operation bit is slightly weird but you'll be amazed how after a very short time (seemed like less than 5 mins), there will be your baby and to be honest I didn't really pay much attention to the rest of it. It felt like my stomach was a handbag and they were rummaging around in the dark finding lipstick, coins etc! Not at all painful though.

Arabica · 05/06/2006 23:35

Booby, pleased to hear you don't have gestational diabetes, as that's a pain in the arse for mum and baby isn't it?

pucca · 05/06/2006 23:39

Arabica...Thanks for the advice/info, and i am really sorry to hear your LO may have to have a op Sadi can't imagine how you feel at all, and here is me whining about have a section Blush how insensitive i am, sorry. Sad xxx

Salamander · 06/06/2006 10:08

Good Morning everyone.

Poor Eeny is having to put up with me going a bit loopy at the moment!

I don't know if it's sympathy stuff or what but my head is not in the right place - I feel very odd indeed!?

I feel quite reclusive, emotional, and down.

Has anyone else noticed their DH/DPs going a tad bit mad?

Salamander

dressedupnowheretogo · 06/06/2006 10:15

hi ya araabica we crossed last night what a wait and and op straight after birth at least you know where you stand now are you having a c section aswell i cant remember

i thought my itching migght be due to sunburn as i had the bump out on friday afternoon for about three hours but its still itching and has been covered up !!

you produce more of everything because im dark skinned all my ache scarring has come like it does when i just get off a sunbed and in between my boobs ive got really patchy dark skin weird or what but must say im tanning really dark so all good

got a tax refund today so im feelin good off to bank in abit to cash it yeah
!!!

Arabica · 06/06/2006 10:52

yeah, am having a section cos I couldn't push DS out last time, got to 9cm and stuck fast! consultant told me it could go either way and if I wanted a VBAC she would support me but if I wanted an elective section that was fine too! They're v nice like that at my hospital (but then again when I saw consultant it was just after I had had my dodogy 21 week scan so I think they'd have agreed to anything I wanted!) My mate was in same position with similar birth story for her DS1 and they supported her with her request for a VBAC. She managed it but with a 2nd degree tear. She's healing nicely although she has to sit on an inflatable ring!
Booby interesting about the skin thing. I have olive-toned skin and don't normally burn but I've got red shoulders from just 1hr in the sun on Sunday afternoon!

PinkTulips · 06/06/2006 10:53

sal, my dp's been a moody f*ck this week but that has alot more to do with him giving up fags than any sympathy for me!

don't know what the deal with the overly sensitive skin is, all i know is i've never been burned like this in my life before, the most i've ever had is a bit on my face or shoulders as i've got good skin for the sun and tan easily. i'm burned all over though after yesterday, forgot to put suncream back on after swimming (don't normally need to Angry). the only bit thats really bothering me though is the bump as the skin is so stretched already and baby keeps investigating! dp says i look like an adorable little lobster.... not quite sure thats meant to be a compliment but i'll take what i can get these days! got hospital appoinment tomorrow and they're so going to give out to me Blush

Feathers, i don't have my notes, all we get over here is the co-operative care card to carry around where the gp and hospital note our bp, weight, urine results, fundal height, FHR and next appointment at each visit. its just a piece of cardboard so that my gp can see what the hospital are up to and vice-versa but it has very little information on it, definitely no space for birth plans!
