Just got back from physio and thought you ladies could do with a cheer up, I have found out that my bump already knows how to stand up for itself! whilst the physio was prodding at my back it kept kicking her! we were laughing for a good 10 mins especially as i had no idea what was going on, i think that iam just assuming everything is to do with my back so had not realised i could feel the baby moving around, i need to learn to recognise the difference! lol.

velcrobott · 02/06/2006 20:06

LOL delia.... Smile

I had my booking visit today - I am 17 weeks already but I know the MW well and it's my 3rd so I am very relaxed.
Uterus is measuring well and she heard the baby's heart with a pinard so am all happy now Smile

Esmummy · 03/06/2006 11:55

Hi All,

DD is poorly, got sickness and diarhea and it only entered my head a while ago about it being contageous (sp?) :(
She is really clingy to me when she is poorly and jsut wants lots of hugs and kisses, DP is out so have no choice but to just comfort her.
Am extremely nervous about catching it :(

NatalieJane · 03/06/2006 12:15

Morning all :)

Sorry I didn't mean to sound so down yesterday, I was only saying it to see if anyone else get's the same, it is almost as if I get energy that then turns out to be borrowed so I have to repay it all back!! LOL I don't remember any of this from first time round!!

Delia, that did make me chuckle!!

Esmummy, I hope your DD feels better soon it is horrible when they are ill, I don't think a regular D&V is a real concern when pregnant though.

Velcrobot, how lovely for you to hear the heart beat :) Can't wait to hear my babies, seeing it on the screen is lovely don't get me wrong, but there is nothing like hearing it!!

It is a lovely sunny day here, we are out in the garden with fruit cocktails and food defrosting in time for the BBQ we have planned this afternoon!! Wish we could stay like this for the next 6 months!! Enjoy the weekend everyone :o

velcrobott · 03/06/2006 13:46

Nataliejane - I won't hear the heartbeat and didn't hear it this time as I have opted for the heartbeat to be listened to with a pinard (a handheld device)... I am quite happy not to hear the heartbeat... I trust MW if she says baby is fine Smile

saralou100 · 03/06/2006 19:47

evening all........

did we enjoy our lovely sunny day!!

nj, i'm the same, i get a burst of energy and then it's gone. when i've been at work for 2 days running i've spent the next 2 days recovering !!

esmummy, good hand hygiene should help stop you catching anything. hope she feels better soon

enjoy your sunday everone!!! x

Jen1209 · 04/06/2006 11:15

Hi all,

LadyAnne - glad to help with the shortening of Elizabeth. It's my mum's first name (she's known as Judy which is her middle name but that's a story for another day!) and she always wanted to be a Libby :o

The whole energy thing - I work full time in a very stressful job (made more stressful this week as per previous post) + housework and all the normal things so I am permanently tired! I have always needed at least 8 hours a night anyway so this is HARD! Am also finding my legs and feet are really hurting if I stand / walk for too long which isn't helping...

Has anyone else suffered from leg cramps? I woke up at 5.00 am yesterday thinking I was being stabbed in the leg! The pain didn't go away until lunchtime...

Right must stop moaning, DP is taking me out for lunch so we can sit outside (we are in a 2nd floor flat with no garden...)

Hope you have all had lovely sunny weekends :)

Kif · 04/06/2006 12:00

I had some dark brown bleeding on wednesday - but thankfully it seems to be nothing. The midwife sent me straight to A&E - so I got to see another scan of Bump bobbing around in there.

I'm being quite paranoid now - feeling tired and achy around the tummy - but that it probably that I've been working far too hard, and streching pains.

Nice side is that Dd1 has been on a 'weekend break' to her Nana's, and I've been fed peaches and ice cream on the sofa by Dh!

Having said that - keen to feel confident enough to go back to 100% workload - got some really interesting stuff at the office.

Grumble Grumble.

Think this family is stopping at two babies - it is all so worrying and delicate - really takes it out of you physically and emotionally, doesn't it.

HopingCat · 05/06/2006 09:11

Hi all,

Jen - I've not had leg cramps, but I did have a session with a physiotherapist who said that she had it when she was pregnant and the way to prevent it is to keep your circulation going. She suggested starting and finishing each day by vigourously wiggling your ankles for 5 minutes. Hope this works for you.

Kif - I had the same thing, dark brown bleeding, at 13 weeks and was sent to pregnancy assessment unit at hospital. They didn't find anything wrong and I've now reached 18 weeks without any problems. I've always wondered what it could have been, so if you were given any explanation please let me know! Hope everything is ok for you know.

Is anyone else almost reaching to their second scan yet? Mine is next Tuesday. I'm already excited! DH painted the small bedroom this weekend and started building nursery furniture so this has only increased my excitment. I think I need to calm down, November is still a long way off!

Must stop rambling now!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 05/06/2006 09:17

Hi all, hope you are well and enjoying another day of sunshine.

I'm taking the day off work today as I was involved in a minor traffic accident. I got taken to A & E but nobody seemed that concerned - I heard the baby's heartbeat again (nice and steady) and the whooshing of the placenta - they didn't think I needed a scan (shame - it would've been nice to see baby). Just been told to take it easy and go to see doc and Midwife if anything untoward happens (eg a discharge). I had no cuts or bruises - back still hurts a bit - shaken not stirred I suppose - though witnesses said it looked very dramatic... I'm just tired now

HopingCat · 05/06/2006 09:45

You sound very calm about being in a traffic accident! It must have been frightening at the time. I'm glad everything seems fine with baby. Look after yourself while you're off work.

DebbsyandBibby · 05/06/2006 09:49

oh dear ladyann i do hope you and bump are ok,take it east today hunny.

mygirllolipop · 05/06/2006 10:08

Lady anne hope you are OK because shock could hit you later on.

MeAndMyBoy · 05/06/2006 10:18

LadyAnn - take it easy today glad is all ok with LO and hope your back starts to ease soon.

Jen - Yes I had horrendous cramps with DS - nothing yet with this one though and it was down to calcium deficency so I started drinking Danone water with added calcium and that helped me.

LOl and the little ones escaping from cots - I was amazed at how much DS could do in a sleeping bag - he used to hitch it up and stick his feet in the corners and off he'd toddle I had hoped it would keep him in bed - how wrong was I!!

Had a real emotional rollercoaster weekend think my PND is raising it's head again :(. Really cross with myself too as DH has a really hard meeting today and I ended up spending last night in a foul mood instead of taking his mind off things.

fatbetty · 05/06/2006 17:21

A rather strange question, but Just out of question have any of you had your hair coloured while pregnant? I'm so desperate to get my hair done and do something different but I've been reading that it's not the best idea to get it coloured.

mygirllolipop · 05/06/2006 18:17

FB - I have tried not to dye my hair whilst pg but with DD3 I dyed it blonde for my bro's wedding, then dyed it brown when the roots came thru. Dh doesn't like me to dye it when pg either so I'm leaving hair alone. Even tho roots are coming thru a little, the sun is giving me natural highlights!

twocatsonthebed · 05/06/2006 18:23

hello everyone,

Lady Anne - poor you. Hope you're feeling better.

Fatbetty - don't think it's a strange question at all, I've been wondering about the same thing as I want to get mine done for my wedding (5 weeks and counting!). I've been told that semi-permanent colours are OK. Or, if you have one round you, either Aveda or Daniel Field salons use only vegetable colours (at a price!) which is the best of all.

Hope everyone else is OK - I'm nearly 19 weeks now and starting to feel like a human being again. But is anyone else having grief with maternity clothes? I'm too big for my normal stuff, but all the maternity things keep slipping down, as I'm not big enough to keep them up yet. Or am I just a strange shape?

fatbetty · 05/06/2006 18:37

Thanks ladies! Might take the plunge with one of the mentioned options as the grey hairs are poking through. And why is it that the grey ones stand straight up for all to notice?!

twocats, I'm the same way with maternity clothes. NOTHING FITS PROPERLY!! I have lots of winter maternity clothes from previous pregnancies and can get by with those during the winter, but find that I'm going out and buying lots of shirts that are a size bigger and hope they will get me through the summer. Going on holiday in a few weeks and need to get enough tops to see me through so I don't have to wash (though I probably will).

fatbetty · 05/06/2006 18:41

I'm 16 weeks along and haven't really been feeling LO move. Is this normal? Of course I start turning into a hypocondriac and thinking the worse. I'm sure that I felt lots of movement by now in my previous pregnancies. But it's amazing what you forget with each pg.

CattyB · 05/06/2006 23:01

Hey all,

Hope today has been an ok day for you.

Hope you are still alright anne and the delayed shock and all the "what if" monsters haven't set in.

Betty - I really didn't feel much movement up until the last week or two (I'm 19+3 today) before that it was only very occassional. Maybe I was just too busy with work and the other kids to really focus but like you I'm sure I felt more stuff sooner in prev pgs. When you next seeing the mw/doc? A wee listen in might help to reassure you. Your partner/friend might just be able to hear a heartbeat using a toilet roll tube as a makeshift pinard but it may be too soon for this to work.

Feeling a wee bit better in myself today and have got a note of interest on the house - so maybe it will be a nice, easy, swift move!!

Sllep tight x

CattyB · 05/06/2006 23:05

ps Spent a fortune and got my hair coloured at Toni & Guy last time I was pg (without any probs). Thinking of just lightening it at home this summer - really unconvinced that hair dye will do anything terrible to either me or smidge Grin

spinach · 06/06/2006 09:06

anyone getting braxton hicks? really not sure if i am, never went into labout last time so dont know what a contraction is and my bh last time were barely noticable.

Have been getting sharp crampy pains that last about 30 seconds...like a really bad stitch... does this sound like a bh? I'm nearly 18 weeks... seems a bit early

OP posts:
HopingCat · 06/06/2006 09:08

I am really struggling with maternity clothes. I'm 18+2 weeks and maternity clothes won't stay up, but normal clothes won't fasten up! Nobody warns you that this is a common pregnancy problem and it lasts for weeks.

I think I have felt baby move this week. It's such a light flutter though and it happens very infrequently that I'm not sure. Does anyone know how soon my dh will be able to feel kicks through my belly?

staceym11 · 06/06/2006 09:19

hi everyone, im so sorry that i have no clue whats going on, our new internet been playing up and only just managed to get on and theres too much to catch up on!!

we are well settled in now in our new flat and its lovely! i had to miss my last6 nidwife appointment as we were having sofas delivered, but i know baby fine as can feel it jumping around like a maniac most days and still have ms so i know he/she is fine!! got our scan on the 4th of july so that will be cool!

hope everyone is ok and all the little beanies are fine!!

staceym11 · 06/06/2006 09:21

HC, it takes them a lot longer than you to feel the kicks as you can feel the movement from inside and out if you know what i mean, they just dont have a clue, lol, itl prob be just after 20 weeks if you have an active baby, if not it could be nearer 25 as theres less and less room in there and baby tries to kick its way out (or thats how it feels!)
