Glad your scan went well NJ.
It's so nice to see baby moving about isn't it. I've started counting down to my next one now. What did your DS think? Did he get to watch with you?

NatalieJane · 31/05/2006 13:49

:o It is lovely watching them moving around!! DS didn't move at his scans both times he had his hand up to his ear as though he was on the phone, and seemed to be asleep! (He was actually born with his hand up by his ear, and in the first few weeks wouldn't sleep or settle if his hand wasn't where he wanted it!!) So this time it was nice to see them led there waving at us and dancing about!

DS was really good he sat on the chair watching the same monitor I was watching. I don't think he had quite worked out what was going on until DH pointed it out to him and then he started asking where different bits of the baby were!!

DebbsyandBibby · 31/05/2006 18:13

ahhh so glad scan went well nj

spinach · 31/05/2006 18:29

glad your scan was ok NJ... its great to see baby isn't it!

Anyone else getting really bad indigestion? my sickness is gone but this lumpy feeling in my throat is driving me mad... and the burping! need a cure!

Having my triple test tomorrow.... hope its normal after all this bleeding stuff... then maybe i can relax for a bit. I asked the consultant why bleeding would cause a falsely high rate and she said its to do with the hormones... so none the wiser really.

OP posts:
fatbetty · 31/05/2006 20:01

Spinach, I found that Gaviscon helps with the indigestion and heart burn.

NJ, so glad to hear that your scan went well! Smile

mygirllolipop · 31/05/2006 20:34

NJ - glad scan went well.
Spinach - that is if the bleeding is caused by hormones but as least you are prepared for a higher result if that's what happens. Good luck for 2moro.
Feeling sh!te today, had head- stomach- and back- ache all day, hayfever and totally tired, also weak arms and sore knees (!). Luckily DH let me have a sleep and I feel a bit better. Then DD3 went and smacked me in the mouth with her cup and split me lip. Sorry for feeling sorry for myself, rant over I promise.

spinach · 31/05/2006 20:43

have tried gaviscon... not really helping! They reckon the bleed was cos of a low lying placenta so is that a hormonal thing?
Just been reading the birth announcements... someone has called their son Monty... dh likes this... what do you all think? Also, what about Harrison? I know its early days, but i find boys names really difficult.

OP posts:
mygirllolipop · 01/06/2006 09:03

I like Harrison but it could get shortened to Harry, Spinach, would you be OK with that. I'm the other way I find boys names easy to reach and never agree on girls names, funny cos we always end up having girls and still undecided even after the birth! We have decided on a boys name for this baby if it is a boy - Jacob Joseph or JJ, we don't want Jacob being shortened to Jake tho, everyone would have to be given a stern warning! Choosing a girls name is a lot harder for us, we've got a name book and are still no further forward!

calsworld · 01/06/2006 09:06

I think Monty is a cute and cheeky name for a little boy - and def like it. An easy one to grow into also.

We're going to be playing it traditional with names, we have a very difficult last name and there are lots of 'dangerous' combinations! James for a boy and Emily for a girl - we've been together eight years so have had plenty of time to think this one through! If we have two of either though, we'll be scuppered!Smile

NatalieJane · 01/06/2006 09:39

Morning all :)

Spinach I find milk can help settle heartburn, or some fizzy pop to make you burp Blush tends to release some of the build up. Good luck today :)

We have Yasmin or Maia lined up for a girl, not sure about boys, I thought we had a few in the pipe line but have realised we have both put forward lots of boys names but haven't actually both liked any of them!! We were quite keen on Charlie but I dont know now, there are a lot of girl Charlies about and if he ended up in the same class as a girl one it would be quite embaressing for him I would imagine! My favorite at the moment is Axton, but I would have to get DH on my side before that happens!!!

Delia · 01/06/2006 10:15

Hi All

Glad the scan went well NJ.

Spinich you could also try pepermint tea in small doses it sometimes works i think it's something to do with the warmth with the mint!

We have decided on Paige if it's a girl and Vaughn if it's a boy, the family all say Paige is really cute but no one is commenting on Vaughn, i don't think they like it but that's tough as we are really struggling on boys names!

Have finally been to physio so hopefully will be on the mend soon and be able to sit long enough to hold a converstaion!!!!

mummyhill · 01/06/2006 14:24

Hey I like the name Vaughn so (rasberry emoticon). See you tomorrow to take you to physio.

Jen1209 · 01/06/2006 16:21

Hi all - really miserable day here. Found out that 2 people who have both been at the company a year less than me have been promoted over me. I was not given the oppourtunity to go for this promotion neither was I told what was happening or explained why I was not being looked at for it. The MD's PA says she thinks it is because I am pg. I am absolutely furious that I haven't been told and even more so that it might be because I am pg. Have demanded a meeting tomorrow with one of the directors. Sorry, rant over...

Re names: we are going quite traditional, Charlie for a boy & Elizabeth (Libby) for a girl. Middle names will be Jeanette for a girl (DP's late mum) and Andrew / Ivan & Martin for a boy. All family names for both sorts :o

HopingCat · 01/06/2006 16:49

We're looking at traditional names, but I have 3 close friends all giving birth in the 2 months before me, so dh and I are going to wait until they've chosen their names before we decide on ours.

Anyone ever known someone go into premature labour coz of a kidney infection? It happened to my friend this weekend, at 26 weeks! Thankfully the hospital managed to stop the contractions. Does anyone know if she is likely to go on to have a normal pregnancy? Somehow having something like this happen to someone close to me makes me a bit more cautious about everything, although I don't know how you can catch or prevent kidney infections.

mygirllolipop · 01/06/2006 17:05

HC - I know someone who has had at least four kids (haven't seen her for a while so she might have had more) with kidney probs although she had her kids at around 36wks. Unfortunatley I don't think this friend of yours will have a'normal' pg but with care I'm sure she will have lots of babies!
Things like this definatley make you appreciate 'normal' pg more.

mummyhill · 01/06/2006 18:51

Jen1209 - Legally they can't overlook you for promotion due to your pregnancy. You may wish to look on the matternity alliance website or talk to your local CAB or union if you have one.

amyjade · 01/06/2006 19:21

Jen1209 Dd2 is called Libby! not Elizabeth just Libby.

Have a few names in mind for boys Max,Noah or Henry are my favourites at the moment, not sure about girls maybe Alana or Jemima? all the names i like are too popular i like origanal names such as the most beautiful name in the world my precious Dd1 Freya Rose!!

spinach · 01/06/2006 20:25

I could add Vaughn to my list... quite like that... dh would go for it too.... a cricket fan. I wouldnt mind HArrison being shortened to Harry... but, a friend is due a month before me and she likes Harry as a name too, so i cant really have it unless she has a girl.

Think Libby is a lovely name

Is anyone getting abdominal pains still? I'm sure its normal but i cant help but worry with this pregnancy... have had quite painful lower abdomen for 24 hours... probably wind!

OP posts:
LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 01/06/2006 22:40

Agree Libby is a lovely name - Elizabeth Anne (due to us being an old fashioned pair) came up as a name, but we couldn't decide what to shorten it to - we know now. Thanks. For a boy we thought of Kieran Thomas - trouble is every other kid being called in the street seems to be called Kieran now.

Spinach - I'm getting loads of abdominal pain - though I don't think I'm as far as you. I'm getting a lot of backache as well - but I've always had trouble in that region. Still got MS and exhaustion - hope it'll go soon - just got to 15weeks.

mygirllolipop · 02/06/2006 09:05

Since being ill I've had terrible abdominal pains but hoping they are just to do with being ill. Am having real trouble with my back atm. The right side of my pelvis up my spine and my left shoulder have been hurting for about 2wks now, but 2day my spine is killing me I can't bend down and am having trouble walking. The bump felt huge today although I'm still uneder my pre-pg weight (fast regaining tho). anyone else having hot flushes?!

Delia · 02/06/2006 09:39

Hi

AmyJade I think Alana is beautiful, I wanted it but my DH said he did'nt like it!

I've had trouble with abdominal pains to, turns out I have a water infection aparently we are really prone while pg, it could also be that I am 18 weeks tomorrow and according to all the books bump is in the middle week of a major growth spurt, apparently the baby doubles it's size between weeks 17 & 19!

CattyB · 02/06/2006 10:49

Hi all,

Not managed to read all since I last posted but good to read everyones more recent news.

Libby is a really lovely name - maybe I'll steal that too (but think my smidge is a boy). I really like Catherine/Kathryn (Katie) and Mairi. For a boy we need another good Scottish name to go with Duncan, Malcolm and Gordon. Quite like Findlay (Finn) and Douglas. James, maybe? Not really settled on anything.

Feeling baby moving a couple of times a day now - just wriggles as opposed to big kicks or anything. It nice to have the reassurance of movement.

Keeping well enough but really exhausted and unmotivated. Was late for work both days this week and almost late for school the others - could stay in my bed for a week! I tried to sneak back to bed for 10 minutes this morning but having left the livingroom for about 2 minutes and my 4 yo in charge my other ds managed to get into the kitchen, eat a dishwasher tablet and throw up (at least he did chuck it up and I don't have to be worried about him being posioned). He's 11m but only just started to crawl and obviously turned into a speed crawler when I wasn't looking! If I was more motivated I'd go start attaching the cupboard locks now but as it is think I'll put up the travel cot to plonk him in when I leave the room and wait for dh to do it.

Hope its sunny where you all are - it gorgeous here. Have a good day x

NatalieJane · 02/06/2006 11:07

Morning :) Hope you are all well.

No sunshine here, just clouds, but we have had a couple of nicer days this week, so can't complain really!

I am feeling pretty down and crappy today, I seem to really be paying for using any 'extra' energy. It comes in waves, one day I am feeling sick and really tired, the next I feel great so run round and do everything whilst I can, and then I get bad again, anyone know what I am going on about?!!! LOL Sorry for the moan, if I say any of this to my DH he thinks the world is about to end and that I should be put on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy, so I keep it to myself now!! Well, at least until I can get on MN!! LOL

I think a spot of internet shopping will help!! Hope everyone has a good weekend if I don't get back before it starts :o

mygirllolipop · 02/06/2006 11:23

Oh catty with you mentioning the travel cot thing.......
We are so going to have to buy a bed for DD3. During the night she woke up and when I went in to her she had one leg over the side of the cot - she's only 13 months, I dunno how she managed it but hey ho, bring on the scan so I know whether to buy a bed or bunk beds (if this baby is a girl).

CattyB · 02/06/2006 12:34

Still got DS3 in a grobag at night to help prevent escapes - although its amazing how mobile they learn to be in them. DS1 loved his so much he slept in it until he was about 2.5 and would happily potter about in it and come through in the morning. Had DS2 in a bed when he was about 14 months (he was in a grobag too but my tallest baby and I was scared he would tip himself out) - used one of those babydan bedsides. I will have DS3 in before he's 18 months because I'll need the cot for this one - luckily we still have a couple of Ikea mini beds stored away.

NJ - sorry to hear its a bad day - just be grateful you have any extra energy I'm still waiting on it to kick in - feel down and crappy most days - would love someone to put me on bedrest Grin
