Hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend?

Congrats on all the scans and welcome to Bertha

I put up the babies drawers/changer unit and the wardrobe yesterday, took my time and didn't push it due to the bleeding last week, and I am fine today except I have really hurt my arm somehow, no idea how mind you, but it is hurting!! So I am again officially on rest by my husbands orders, and am slowly but surely going out of my mind with boredom! I must say though, the hurt arm and mind numbing boredom is well worth it, the furniture looks lovely!! Can't wait to get the cot and under cot drawer thing up and then find out the flavour so we can put the right colour handles on it!!

I have just ordered one of those nappy wrapper things, has anyone tried one before? Are they worth £30?? Probably should have asked before I ordered it, but never mind!! And I got a kick gym thing and some other toys, it is all starting to take shape, just in my dining room instead of the babies room until it is decorated!! Can't wait until we are adding huge ammounts of blue or pink to it!! LOL

Anyway once again have gone on and on way too much!! Have a good weekend everyone

harrogatemum · 08/07/2006 12:57

NJ - my husband bought a nappy wrapper and we used it for the first couple of months. After that when the poos started to get increasingly smelly we just used nappy bags and the nappy wrapper ended up in the garage. It just was too smelly, however I have other friends who love theirs, I am sure someone else will come along and rave about them!

Thanks for all your welcomes!

I had a nappy wrapper as we lived in an apartment when I had DS...it does stink after a bit (we used to prowl ds's room looking for a lurking dirty nappy or leakage til we realised what it was!) but great if you don't have an outside bin within easy access.

How many of you are finding it difficult to get comfortable in bed at night? The heat doesn't help but even with air con (we're temporarily in an apartment in Toronto) it's getting worse. Not much else to complain about though!

NatalieJane · 08/07/2006 15:45

Sorry forgot to say, I am half way there today, seems quite unreal!!

MeAndMyBoy · 08/07/2006 20:10

Have to say I loved our nappy wrapper - did find that it needed emptying fairly regularly or it did smell, but as DS was going through about 15 nappies a day during the first few months it did get emptied often - my suggestion to save a few pennies on the refils is that when you come to empty it pick the lid up and let each twisted bit untwist so that all the nappies fall to the bottom and then cut it off - found doing this our refils lasted months - might not make sense now but hopefully will when you're using it lol, unless I am just talking double dutch which is entirely possible.

Bertha where abouts in Toronto are you - we are planning on moving to the Brampton area - just waitng for the Canadian Gov to decide if they want us lol.

Well we have spent today trawling around garages looking for a new car for moi - my bloomin car has given up the ghost again - only had it 18mths or so. found a couple we liked but just can't make our minds up - ho hum.

Eeyore how was your shopping trip what did you get?

NatalieJane · 08/07/2006 21:36

MAMB, I think I get what you mean, but this one I have ordered says it twists and then seals each nappy into it's own sort of comparment so don't think that will work - if it does as good a job as it says then the smell shouldn't be too bad, should it?!!! Thanks though to everyone who gave their opinions Will deffo run any other new fangled purchases past you all before I buy next time!! LOL

Next new fangled thing - dopplers? I said I didn't want one incase one day I couldn't find the heartbeat and then went into a panic, but, the idea is growing on me and I am excusing my previous excuse on the grounds that I won't panic because I know that sometimes the baby just wants to hide! So, have any of you got one, and is it worth it? Can you find the heart beat easily enough? And if not, does it send you into a panic?? Might open this one up onto the main board actually!

DebbsyandBibby · 08/07/2006 21:55

nj ive brought the tommee tippee nappy wrapper they were half price in mothercare i was 20 weeks yesterday yippee scan on tuesday. Also as one of my birthday presents ive asked my mum to get me a doppler she said dont you want anything for yourself i said you are getting me something for myself pice of mind.lol.

DebbsyandBibby · 08/07/2006 21:55

doh meant piece of mind.

Mummy2Toby · 08/07/2006 22:03

Hiya NJ - I had a doppler with ds, I must admit that I found it quite hard to find the hb (it must be a practice thing) but I found that once I felt the baby moving regularly, I didn't even get it back out of the box. I bought it off of Ebay brand new for about £70, gave it to my sister after using it for her pregnancy and then when she had finished with it, sold it back on Ebay and got £75 so all in all not a bad purchase!

Just had a thought - where abouts do we all live, it would be nice to try and arrange a little meet up before we have the bubbas, don't know if anybody else fancies it
My cousin had a little girl today - 8lbs 10oz and they have called her Elizabeth ..... I can't wait for our little girl now, even though we still can't agree on names!

DebbsyandBibby · 08/07/2006 22:11

staceym11 · 08/07/2006 22:19

M2T, i live in redhill, surrey dont know if we'r all in the same country let alone area! lol

i cant stand the heat so its brill that its cooled down a bit now, have been better sleeping the last few nights which helps me feel slightly more human.

got mw appointment next weds for the first time since booking which should be fun, think they might moan about me not having had one in between! lol oh well!

we have definately decided on Kieran Daniel for this little boy lump so iv been telling him off today as all he seems to do when im not near a toilet is kick me in the bladder, lovely child. probably paints a picture of things to come!

i hope everyone is ok. on the subject of dopplers i dont think you'd really use it much after baby starts kicking regularily coz you know its all ok then, never had one with dd and acctually the thought never crossed my mind. might be nice if you've got older kids etc so they can listen too but other than that dont see much point!

eeyoreuk · 09/07/2006 07:20

Hi all
mum2toby I live in Leicester i think from previous messages we are all spread far and wide.

NJ i got a nappy wrapper from the baby show and bought all 4mth onwards sacks because these are thicker and supposed to be desiged for nappies that inc solids ifytwim.

well on my shopping trip i bought a graco areosport travel system in earthmother with all the accesories, and the playtime swing to match - i wish they did these in adult size, avent new born bottle starter set a raincover for the car seat. I was asked if I wanted to get the nursery furniture as well but I said i would wait for now gives me another excuse to go back the staff were great.

Talking of sleeping i have been struggling for a while now because i can not lie on my back due to an old injury (cracked coccyx) and if i lie on my side for to long i get a sharp pin under my ribs on the right side bought one of those cossato wedge supports yesterday and last night did seem better.

Well off to Bedford today my friend is racing in the regatta so I am going for moral support - will probably regret it later as i will be so jealous i am not racing as well
speak later have a good day all

Morning, I think the meet up's are a great idea I'm in warwickshire. I wasn't sure if anyone else would be around this morning especially as it was early when we got up.

Eeyore your shopping trip sounds very sucessful - I might just have to go and have a look round myself . I do like your travel system the design on the pushchair bit is really nice. It would be great if they made an adult size swing wouldn't it. I'm not having a travel system 'cause we've already got a pushchair from last time still going strong - although I am trying to work out what we will do about the double buggy/ no double buggy debate. DS won't walk very far still has very little legs even though he's 3. I do have a baby sling to use for the baby but it might not be practical to carry baby in the sling and push DS in the pushchair - might have to wait and try and see how it works.

I do need to buy a new chest of drawers - DS has a set that has a changing table on top of it but it's the chest of draws that DS uses all the time so a bit reluctant to take it away from him.

Have a good Sunday and talk later

harrogatemum · 09/07/2006 12:48

I would love to attend any Northern meet ups. I am (I guess quite obviously) in Harrogate in North YOrkshire. Anyone else in the frozen North?

podglet · 09/07/2006 13:24

Hi all, meet ups sound like fun but I don't know how far I am from anyone else. I don't know anyone else who is pg and due around the same time as me - except a guy I work with sister and I don't think that counts!!!

Think I may be the only Essex girl here... although I hasten to add I do not have any white stilettos - will pop my location on the stats list.

Hope everyone is having lovely weekends in the cooler weather - am so excited, this time next week I will be soaking up the sun!
