Hi Guys, well the will power lasted i managed to say no when she asked me if i wanted to know the sex . Everything was amazing saw so much and when i saw those long legs i nearly cried it definantly takes after mum and dad there. Bump was very hyperactive (no supprises there either!) she struggled to measure some parts of bump as it would'nt stay still long enough.

I am glad to say we have a healthy, wriggly baby, although i do get another scan at 36 weeks as my placenta is lying low so need lots of magic between now and then to get it to move so i don't have to have a cesarian without at least some choice!

Gushing over now....

Stacey my sister just had the same thing they have cut her money by over half as they say they made a mistake and paid her to much , at least we all are there for support, thankfully it sounds like your family are the same.

CattyB · 24/06/2006 10:18

Hope you are all having a relaxed time of it?! Lovely to hear of all your scan stories. Really wouldn't want to know the sex of my baby before birth - part of the best bit of having my baby finally in my arms is looking to see what I got.

NJ - Sorry to hear of the trouble with the tax credits folk - the whole system is a mess and there seems no way to work out if you are actually receiving what you are entitled to - so you just have to believe them. What really irritated me about filling in the renewal form was there is space for putting in your income but no space for actual childcare costs.
On that note I have no idea where the officals get their average childcare costs from - not from me! I spend almost as much as I earn and despite the fact theres a decreasing poulation (I live in Scotland) and a lack of Nurses they do absolutely nothing to help. Shortsighted c**ts!!
Heard on the radio that the Tories may bring back transferable tax allowances - and although it is completely against everything I believe in - I would vote for them if they did (stuff's all so lack lustre and consentual that it probably wouldn't make any difference anyway).

Enough ranting - time I hung out my mountains of washing - why is it when you miss washing for 1 day your laundry more than quadruples? Think it must breed when left together for too long

CattyB · 24/06/2006 10:24

Meant to add a wee bit about waterbirth. There does seem to be a rumour that going into the pool slows down labour but from what I can gather it is a rumour - I have asked various midwives (am luck to live in an area with brilliant community mw who have loads of exp of waterbirths home & hosp) and they have all said that it is rubbish.
I really find the water benificial and it allows me the space to find my own way of labouring. My only delay in getting in the pool has been the time taken for my poor dh to build and fill it.

eeyoreuk · 24/06/2006 10:47

Hi all
by the way as i am a novice first time i made the silly mistake of ordering a travel system from two left feet luck for me i paid on my visa debit card and the bank have recovered my money but can i just say i would never use them for anything ever again eeyoreuk

CattyB · 24/06/2006 11:07

What was wrong with it? Or were they just evil?

NatalieJane · 24/06/2006 11:20

Morning girls

I have heard lots about two left feet, none of which has been any good! The one that seems to get the thumbs up on price and customer service is Kiddicare (and it is free delivery no matter how much you spend), I haven't actually used them yet, but when we get round to doing the big shopping sprees that will be the first place I look

I am really suffering with heart burn at the moment, I get it quite bad when I'm not pregnant but these last couple of days it has been constant, getting really fed up of it now!

Anyway have a good weekend everyone

CattyB · 24/06/2006 11:39

I've used Kiddicare and can't complain great prices and quick delivery times - only prob last time was that I wasn't in when they delivered and had to go and pick up from the courier 38 miles away - boo.

Sympathy on the heartburn - I too usually suffer and am now drinking peptac like its going out of fashion. The GP can't prescribe gaviscon anymore and peptac although it usually works is really thick and yucky but hey ho only another 18 months of drinking it (by then I'll prob have stopped bf and be back on normal meds).

eeyoreuk · 24/06/2006 12:52

Hi i ordered it on the 20 th May two week delivery and by the 15th June it had still not arrived - you can not speak to anyone on the phone you have to email customer services i found a review site that had 64 reviews on it and only 3 were good. even though i emailed them to say the bank were going to recover my money they still did not reply Kiddicare is not far from Leicester so i am going to go there

eeyoreuk

CattyB · 24/06/2006 12:58

I'll stear well clear although am lucky enough not to really have to buy anything this time round - only thing I'll need is girl clothes if its a pink one!

spinach · 24/06/2006 17:38

i've had real trouble with two left feet and would never use them again... lots of mumsnet threads about them too. even when i visited the shop they were really unhelpful. have never had a problem with kiddicare, ordered loads of stuff from them.

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 24/06/2006 17:50

Spinach, is the shop in Bedford? Or am I getting mixed up?

Only incase Eeeyore did still want the phone number (because everyone feels better after a moan at someone!!! ), it would be listed in the yellow pages wouldn't it?

Mygirl, if you have a look even just around MN there are a few threads about how bad the customer service is, as I said I haven't ever used them, but what I have heard has been enough to put me off even trying to! It is a shame though because if they could delivery the item and service you would expect their prices do seem to be very competitive.

fatbetty · 24/06/2006 20:18

Hi All! Just got back from our hols to France. Too many messages to read to catch up on - otherwise I'll be here all week ! Had a good time in France but kids were a bit out of control as we went with other family members who wound them up to no end. I swear their favourite word at the moment is "NO!"

Feeling a bit down at the moment thinking that if things are out of control now, how will it be with 3 kids?!? How do those who have 3 do it? Also attempting to potty train DS1 AGAIN. He is almost 3.5 and has absolutely no interest in getting trained and doing my head in. Any words of inspiration?

CattyB · 24/06/2006 20:36

Glad you had a good holiday even with the kids playing up. Hopefully you'll soon settle back into your home routine and the kids will calm down.

I honestly haven't found 3 any harder than 2 (yet). DS3 is only just 1 but I found he just slotted right in no probs. Found DS1 tough as it's such a culture shock, DS2 to more than double the work of 1 but DS3 to be really quite easy - for me 2 was my critical mass - now when the bigger two have friends round it doesn't really make that much of a difference.

Potty training wise not sure I've much to offer - was really lucky in that mine were both out of all nappies by the time they were 2.5. Used a sweetie jar - first of all they got a smartie or a button for sitting on the potty, then for sitting on it for 30sec and then just for "performing". They soon stopped needing the reward but I know a friend who used to brib her son with beer - as it took him ages to poo in anything other than his nappy - maybe not very PC parenting but it did the job

CattyB · 24/06/2006 20:40

Other thought on the subject Betty - maybe you should start trainind DS2 in the hope that there is enough sibiling rivalry that DS1 wouldn't want to be outdone by his wee brother

Wow - everyone has been so busy whilst I've been wallowing in my poorly state. However I'll try to catch up.

MONEY - I have serious financial problems as well - I have the Citizens Advice people on my case trying to help me sort it - I get an okay wage (nothing special) - but the cost of living in Devon is so high in comparison that it simply doesn't go anywhere - they also take their time when it comes to helping you sort benefits etc. Baby is unplanned - well - we were told we couldn't have any naturally and were offered IVF - because of our financial situation - we decided not to bother with that until we were more settled. Obviously - some other soul had other ideas - and we're delighted.
WEIGHT - I was a tad overweight before I started although being 5foot6 helped me carry it, actually lost quite a bit about a month or two before PG.I don't have any scales - but even with bump - I'm finding many of my old clothes fit and even some of the Mat clothes I bought this year are getting looser (in the leg etc)- it's like I've lost a little weight everywhere but bump zone and boobs - mind you - the amount of MS I've had and the total lack of appetite probably has a lot to do with it. Will request to be weighed next time I see Midwifs.
SCAN I have my on the 3rd - originally we didn't want to know - now we're a little bit curious
MOVEMENT Baby hasn't been so active over the last few days - maybe it's bored of disco dancing - felt one kick - I think
NAMES thought we'd decided - not sure now - avoiding any names beginning with M as I want to use both mine amd DP's surname - they both begin with M so another M could be overkill - shame really as there are some lovely names in that part of the alphabet.
BABYSTUFF - have acquired a car seat (my sisters so I know where it's been), a bath, a moses basket, a travel system, a couple of gro-bags, bedding, toys and any baby clothes I want - dependant on sex - Hasn't cost me a penny so far.. and other family members are keen to buy so when we move, we plan a stock check and will see what we're missing.
Anyhow - gone on far too long again - have fun girls and enjoy the rest of the weekend. LA

sighkotika · 25/06/2006 10:25

hi all, i have my scan on the 4th of july, and i am definately asking what it is. im not good with suprises, finding out i was pregnant was a big enough surprise lol. my mum has been ringing me daily to ask when the scan is because she really wants to know too.

lady anne, is the cost of living in devon really that high? my DP and I are having some serious problems at the moment and are moving in with my mum until we can get everything sorted, and she has just bought a house near exeter.

one final thing... when should i start to worry that i havent felt movement? a few weeks ago i was getting flutters regularly, but i havent felt anything for the past week. im not too worried yet, because i have heard the heartbeat in that week, but now im wondering when i should call someone.

harrogatemum · 25/06/2006 11:17

Hi All - Sighkotika my scan is the same day as yours and I havent felt any movement yet either. It worries me as second time around you are supposed to feel it earlier and I am now 18+2. Didnt feel anything with the twins until 22 weeks last time but still if I can find something to worry about I will!!

Delia - I had LLP with the twins which luckily moved out of the way before they were born allowing me to have a natural delivery (as natural as it can be with two midwives, a consultant, a junior doctor and a paediatrician, it was like a party!). The funnies moment was after the 20 week scan when the consultant said "No sex with a low lying placenta" and DH and I laughed, until we saw her stony face and realised she meant business! That was it until after the babes were born!

sighkotika · 25/06/2006 12:39

thats just it though, i have felt movement, but now its stopped. i guess im just a natural worrier lol

eeyoreuk · 25/06/2006 15:44

Hi Sighkota I had not reely felt much at all until this Friday thenI think it was trying to reorganise all of my internal organs - but it is back to hardly any movement at all now. My scan is tomorrow and i am 21 weeks eeyoreuk

spinach · 25/06/2006 15:46

Sighkotika, dont worry just yet, i felt movements at 12 weeks with this one, but i have had whole weeks of feeling nothing and its only recently , the past week that i have felt definate kiccks everyday again. if this is your fisrt, it will take longer for movement to become regular... though, like you I'm a born worrier so understand where you're coming from. You can buy dopplers if that would reassure you... sure I saw something in the blooming marvelous catalogue.

NJ... yes the shop is in bedford... i drove ages to go and have a look round thinking it was gonna be the answer to all my prayers... it really wasnt, the staff at the time werent helpful and didnt really seem to want people browsing! I ordered a pram from them and car seat, they turned up on time but i had problems with the pram and they wouldnt sort it out... and were quite rude about it. Kiddicare have been brill... they have a shop/warehouse in peterborough which is supposed to be fab... havent been myself as their delivery is free and good so i order online.

Delia, I have LLP too, having my 23 week scan in 10 days or so so hoping it has moved up...apparently 99% of cases do.

fatbetty · 25/06/2006 17:15

I'm 19 weeks and I haven't felt much movement either. I will go for several days without feeling anything and then just feel a little flutter. I'm sure with DS1 and DS2 I felt them move a lot at this stage - then again, I wasn't chasing after 2 kids!

Thanks for your positive feedback regarding having 3 kids. At times I just get so worried about how I will cope - especially when DS1 is so strong-willed at the moment - but we go through these phases with him. Our routine has gone out the window while we were on holiday and now it's hard to get it back. Our own fault really!

Tried out DS1 with potty training and having lots of accidents. I know it's early days. CattyB, I know I should try to potty train DS2 at the same time but he doesn't seem ready. He hates sitting on the potty but yet he sometimes tells me when he has gone poo. Maybe I'll try again after we get back from our other trip in August. I'm sure my kids will be 13 before they crack potty training.

Mummy2Toby · 25/06/2006 23:39

fatbetty - I know what you mean about thinking that you felt more movement in previous pgs, my dh says that every night I say that I haven't felt bubs move, but within an hour or so of ds being in bed and me actually concentrating on the bubs I have felt it (if that makes sense) I think that I am running around after ds in the day so much I don't really think of it I have my 22 week scan on Friady can't wait to ask the flavour Night all
