staceym11 · 23/06/2006 10:31

sorry to go completely off subject but im in a complete state!!

got my tax credits through this morning and they'v brought it down by 2/3rds so now we only get 90 odd quid not nearly 300 every 4 weeks due to a rise in income apparantly, what fucking income we earn 15k a year, bastards!!

so now we'v got our new house and a new baby on the way (which we were only just managing to afford anyway as we'v got such a shit income) we now cant afford and i just cant coep, after finally getting my house that i so desperatly wanted im at risk of lossing it coz the fuckers think we can survive on thin fucking air!!!!

im really sorry about the language but i just cant believe this its so bloody stupid i just dont get it!!!

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 10:33

Thought I would add, that I haven't weighed myself so don't know how much I have put on, but I have actually lost weight in my face and my arms (I have had to take a bracelet off that I have worn for years because it kept slipping off my wrist) well I think I have lost weight everywhere except my belly!! From straight on at the front you wouldn't know I was pregnant, but from the side I look like I am carrying twins!

I saw my MIL's sister at the weekend and she asked when I was due, I said Novemeber, and she looked at me all knowingly and told me I wouldn't last that long. I love it how everyone knows me and my body better than I do!! It was the same with my midwife in the week, I told her about last week when I couldn't feel the baby moving and she turned around and said 'I wouldn't expect you to be feeling movements yet anyway' I don't think she believed me when I said I had been feeling little flutters from about 9 weeks!! If it isn't on their charts and graphs then it obviously can't be happening....

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 10:36

Stacey first of all, ring them and get someone to go through it with you, I know it has all changed but there have apparently been some major f. ups so before you panic just ring and confirm everything with someone.

Sorry you are having to face this.

staceym11 · 23/06/2006 10:50

have rang them and they said as our income increased (by about £300 a year) we arent entitled to £200 a month, just cant believe it! have been on phone to dp and he isnt worried but im just so scared of losing everything now iv finally got it!

sorry just read my last post and was really rude, sorry if i offend anyone!

staceym11 · 23/06/2006 10:51

as im now a little calmer i can say that our one and only boy name (from when pg with dd and now) is kieran and i havnt even thought of girls names really, but i do like isobel/la and elanor

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 10:57

Do you have a program on your computer with all of your incomings and out goings?

If you are anything like us we have separate accounts half the bills come out of one, half the bills come out of the other, you never know when things are due for going out, and once they have all gone out, you never know what you have left over for shopping and anything thing else you spend money on. I have a spread sheet now that lists all the bills coming out of each account, how much money is going in (i.e. DH's salery, tax credits etc.) and then it is a simple sum (that the computer works out) and that tells me exactly how much money we have 'left over' in a month. Maybe if you sat and worked out how much is going where you will see where you can save if needs be.

The one thing I learnt from living at home with my single mum, who was on social security for a while, and my 4 other sisters, was that no matter how she (and so we) worried about moeny, it always worked out, it wasn't easy, but there was always food on the table and clean clothes to wear the next day, and that is all that really matters.

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 10:59

LOL I love Isabella, but our surname is Oliver, and apart from it being that posh maternity websites name, it is a bit of a mouthfull - Isabella Oliver!

staceym11 · 23/06/2006 11:06

maybe isabel then that sounds better isabel oliver!

thanks yeah we do and we'r working out about 400 down now not 200 which we were just coping with by not buying new clothes for us or dd (get given a ot for dd) not having take aways going out etc. but i just dont know how we'll manage it. oh well not a lot we can do.

im prob panicing so much as my mum and dad were never short of money (my dad earns about 50k a year) and im soooo not used to it! thanks for the comforting words tho.

still bawling but only coz dd kept coming up to me while i was crying (shes 20 months) and saying 'mummy ahhhh, wet wet, tissue' and getting me a tissue, why are my hormones making me a raging mess????

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 11:11

Money is one of those things that is lovely to have when you have it, but it really isn't the be all and end all if you don't have a lot, but most of all, unless you are literally struggling to put food on the table or pay the bills, it really isn't worth worrying over, there is little you can do about it anyway.

No, we have chosen Maia, (if the baby is a girl!) and I am sticking to it, I love it!! LOL

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 11:12

Oh, and the hormones are doing the rounds for everyone!

I went absolutely berserk at my DH for leaving his tea mug in the living room a couple of days a go, he hadn't even finished his tea.......

staceym11 · 23/06/2006 11:15

thanks nj you make me feel a bit more normal, i know we cant really do a lot. dp just rang and said that hes been offered to work sundays on site (he works for barrat homes) and will earn £100 a day, 4 weekends a month £400 problem solved, needless to say crying didnt help one bit! feel slightly silly now!

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 11:17

My DH got roped into doing extra hours when he was promoted, it is hard, he isn't always here at weekends and stuff, be sure you don't let your lives together suffer too much.

I have got to go and get my DS from nursery but I will be back in about 20 minutes-ish if you still need to chat

saralou100 · 23/06/2006 11:23

nj, can i employ you to sort out our finances??? never know where our money ends up each month, except it's not in our bank accounts!

staceym11 · 23/06/2006 11:31

well we'll still get saturdays together and it isnt contracted work so he doesnt have to do every weekend, like if we wanted to go away or summit, hopefully will be ok. he just thinks its better than me working every evening to make the same sort of money!

saralou100 · 23/06/2006 11:35

stacey, hope your feeling a little better now?? money is a worry, i hate not paying bills.. dp is trying to get promotion at the moment as a result his wages are going down (he earns on commission) he's working so hard from 9 am to 10 pm most days and like i say earning less for it.. were getting by month to month at the moment.. i had to work 14hr shifts on a sundays to make up the money, only now i have to drop these hours because i'm struggling to be their and i don't know how we'll cope but i know we will, somehow... it's just so not fair when you've worked hard for all that you have and it seems like it can all slip away so easily, but their are other solutions you just need to find them calmly and level headed - so not easy with hormones to combat too. xx

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 11:42

LOL Sara, I charge quite a bit..!! LOL If you set some sort of list of what's coming in, and what goes out, then you will always know what you have left over. It helps especially if the money coming in changes every month, like my DH's he works some over time and gets a small ammount of commission each month which put together can vary by up to £300 a month, so it really helps to have a simple program to work it all out for you!

At the start of the month, I put my figures into the list and make sure I keep on top of all the bills going out, even if they only change by a couple of pounds I change it on my list, then whatever is left I divide by the number of days in the month and times by 7 that gives me a total of much 'spare' cash we can spend per week for that month, I try to make sure we don't go over that ammount in one week and it means we get to the end of the month with some money left still! I am terrible with money and if I didn't do this, I would have spent every spare penny in the first week and have nothing left for the rest of the month!

Stacey if that suits you then it will be great. My DH tries to do it so he works longer hours in the week, it means he gets less time to spend with DS in the week but when he gets home his attention is on DS until he goes to bed, but it means most weekeneds we get the whole weekend together. He also does every 4th weekend on call so that can be hard when he has been working long hours in the week as well but it is only once a month.

saralou100 · 23/06/2006 11:52

my head is spinning just reading that!! my mums always trying to get me to do something like this, she was a book keeper in her former life (before me!!) unfortunately i didn't inherit those genes, just her ability to tidy constantly!!

Tinasan · 23/06/2006 11:57

Hi Stacey, glad to hear it sounds a bit more positive on the money front - I hope you get it all worked out. I'm probably going to stop work when we have this baby and it's going to be difficult but I guess we'll just have to manage! Love your girls names - mine are Elena and Isabella at the moment so almost identical to you!

Hope you have a nice weekend,
Tinasan

NatalieJane · 23/06/2006 11:58

It sounds so much more complicated than it is, I actually had to re-do mine yesterday as my old list was on my laptop that decided to die at the weekend so I had to do a new one on the desktop I have, it took all of about 30 minutes, and most of that was trying to find my DH's bank statement from last month!

Once it is done, it takes me two minutes to put in how much money is coming in in the month, and to check that none of the bills have changed and that is it done, don't have to think about money or the lack of it for the next month!!

HopingCat · 23/06/2006 13:40

Hi,

I'm off on holiday tomorrow. We're going to South Wales for a week, so I hope it's nice and warm down there. It has to be better than here. Preston is not the sunniest of places at the moment.

I just wondered, does anyone know if there are any maternity or baby shops at McArthur Glen/Cheshire Oaks? We're thinking of stopping off there on the way past.

harrogatemum · 23/06/2006 15:03

Debbsy we must be due same day as I am 18 weeks today too. I have had the opposite problem with my weight, was 11 stone and am now 10 stone 4 (runs for cover as people start throwing stones).

NJ I love the name Maia and I am convinced I am having a girl although will have to wait another couple of weeks to find out.

Stacey,

Good to hear you're getting on with it as best as you can, - but I'm not surprised at all that you'were fuming!

'Money doesn't buy happiness, but I'd rather cry in a Cadillac than a Cortina'!

Hope you work things out!

spinach · 23/06/2006 19:22

thanks for all your name suggestions.... nice to know what other people are thinking of. I think i do like reuben for a boy. for a girl, it will be isabelle, grace or imogen (maybe!! keep changing my mind). Now i need one more boys name for a middle name, hopefully that cant be as difficult.

Can someone please stop me eating the cake i just made for my dinner? its smeels yum, and i dont want a proper dinner now!
