I have just come on for a moan-sorry. My mum normaly gets all the moaning but she is on holiday till monday.
I went to see my midwife for 36 week cheeck up today and my normal midwife is leaving so i have a new one and i dont like her at all.I have been suffering from spd and it is getting realy bad and she was so snappy when i mentioned the pain was getting worse and said i only had 4 weeks left and i shoulden't complain about the pain as i am lucky to pg. I asked how baby was laying and she said she would tell me later!!! but she diden't. booked me in for 2 weeks time to see her again. she has not written anything she didnt have to in my notes either.

sorry just needed to get it off my chest- i am dreading the next appointment and would hate her to be working when i go into labour.

RachelPross · 17/05/2006 20:06

How horrid. My midwife is a pain too. She is a pnic merchant. Already had me down the hosp for blood tests for cholestasis and now I've been again today. Feel like a pin cushion. She makes me panic every time I see her

diddle · 17/05/2006 20:16

baby2 - she sounds like a nightmare, but you have every right to annoy the hell out of her back, so you demand to know whatever you like, its not as if you have to live with her, and you can always ask for another midwife if she's there when your baby is coming, this is your special time not hers Angry

Enthusia · 17/05/2006 20:33

Diddle

Just wanted to wish you good luck!!!!!!

I still think of you and hope you are happy.I hope that your little one realises just how lucky it is to have you as its mum.

Love

Enthusia

abbey1515 · 17/05/2006 21:16

Hi everyone
Hope you are all doing ok!
Baby2, I am being visited constantly by midwives, health visitors and neonatal nurses, and its driving me mad!
Felicity started on a course of steroids today as she has an immunity problem, but good news, she weighed in at a huge 5lb! I can't believe she should still be inside me!

happybebe · 17/05/2006 21:23

hi again!

laura the doc wanted to prescibe me something call clondadine i think. luckily i dont get really bad pain with the migraines, its bearable, its the fact that i actualy cant see for sometimes up to an hour that really scares me, i get the flashing lights then everything goes blurred and i cant focus on anything. it scares me because i have a one year old and the attacks come on so sudden i worry i will get one and wont know what she is doing. i am seeing midwife on Fri so will speak more to her. when are you due? i am due 28 june :)

LilacBump · 17/05/2006 21:56

baby2, that midwife sounds horrible. i would complain! or go see the GP instead for the next few weeks.

rachel, good luck for the results of your blood test.

happybebe, sorry to hear you've been having migraines. i tend to lose my eyesight on one side when i have them, really awful!

homemama, nice to hear from you! hope you are well! {{hug}}

i got a call from the doctor saying i need to take more of the iron tablets i was prescribed as my iron count was still too low.

i'm annoyed with toysrus, as we bought a cot mattress and bedding there (would have gone to mothercare, but they were out of stock) and the cover on the mattress was torn and the fitted sheets had tears in them too! the quality of the sheets seemed very poor in general.

hi everybody hope all well congrats to the babies that have already been born! i have been reading this thread for ages now and thought i would join in, so i will start with telling you my stats my d/date is 24/6 and this is my second and last baby as i really dont enjoy being pregers (sorry to all of you that enjoy it)iam currently in the process of decorating babys room and organising my wedding that is in october, and worrying if i will fit in my dress as i was measured for it before finding out i was pregnant no more cakes for me. everything fine with baby i no iam having a girl well if they got it right on the scan that is and iam looking very forward to starting my m/leave which is next wed i only work mon-wed so 3 days left and i have taken 3 weeks holiday before my m/leave offically starts so i can have some time with my little girl b4 baby no2 arrives, i hope this time i will be on time as i was 15 days over due with her which was horrendus

elizabuff · 17/05/2006 23:19

jenpreston - hi! Don't worry, I hate being pg too and can't wait till it's over. Shame about not being able to eat lots of cake though - I've decided I'll worry about it after the baby's born but luckily I haven't been measured for my wedding dress at pre-pg size! Baby due 5/06 and my wedding is 29/07 so some major exercise (luckily I'm active anyway) will be on the agenda after the birth. Not buying my dress till 15/07 though, so got to hope I find something off the peg in that one shopping trip Smile everyone but me has something to wear - bought my mum's dress, booked dp's suits etc (kilts actually Grin) and even bought the baby a stupidly expensive raw silk dress for her to be sick over! I'll just have to go in my jeans...

abbey - great news that Felicity is growing so well. It realy seems so strange - I'm haven't quite convinced myself that my huge bump is actually a baby yet!

happybebe - your migraines sound awful. Hope the doctor/mw can find something to help you out that won't bother the baby.

sorry for the long post - been busy all day and only just got to catch up Grin

bubbly1973 · 18/05/2006 09:05

abbey, a huge congratulations to you and your family!! hope felicity is home with you soon.

diddle glad scan went well, and head is down

are any of you ladies who are 35+ having bloods taken when visiting midwife? im 37 weeks today and still no bloods taken, last time was about april

waswondering, no im not having c-section im due 8th, whether baby comes then is another thing :)

thanks to everyone for advice on knickers! am going shopping today to get last few items to go in my hospital bag.

jenpreston, welcome to the june board, never too late to join!

happybebe · 18/05/2006 09:58

hi everyone

thansk for the commiserations with the migraines they are horrible, but its only right i should suffer with something after all i had no morning sickness aches or pains or anything else! dont even have stretchmarks, lucky me.

i will have bloods taken tomorrow will be 34 weeks am sure you should have had a last set done at this time, but only if you have been taking iron tablets to see the level. i need to have mine done as they were very low at 28 weeks and i cant have a home birth if they havent improved so very nervous about it!

hope everybody is feeling okay and babies are all head down and ready to go! except mine she is still transvere just like DD was! :)

blobsmummy · 18/05/2006 10:44

Welcome jenpreston! Smile

Happybebe - I really hope your migraines clear up soon. Mu mum gets them each month and I know she feels wiped out by them - they sound scary.

Laura - I've got the Rikki airflow wraps that came with the nappies - they look a little baggy to me, but then I haven't road tested them with a baby in, so we'll have to wait and see! This is my first baby, and the first grandchild on both sides, so this is new territory for all of us. Mym mum and MIL both only live 15 minutes away, so I figure I can keep them waiting for the news as they haven't very far to travel, but I can understand your mum wanting to know right away - Cyprus is quite a bit further away!

RachelPross - fat fingers and toes crossed for you that all is well with blood results.

Baby2 - I'm with LilacBump - can you see your GP instead of the midwife? She sounds horrid!

Bubbly, I've just had blood taken at 36 weeks. My last time before that was late March. My m/w explained that if I had them done now (at 36 weeks), then I wouldn't have to have them done when I went into hospital in labour as the results would be up-to-date. There's been nothing wrong with any results I've had - in fact, my iron levels have been through the roof!, but she still wanted it done anyway (me thinks she just likes poking me with a needle!)

Well, actually slept for nearly 7 hours last night - absolute bliss!! I'm off now to create a score sheet for the Eurovision Song Contest party we're having! Everyone has to award points for singing, style and overall impressions and then it's your best guess as to who you think will come 1st, 2nd and 3rd - normally a hilarious evening, with none of us getting anywhere close to the final result. Hoping all the jolity and mirth-making will make DD wonder what is going on and decide to make an appearance!

LilacBump · 18/05/2006 10:47

blobsmummy, regarding eurovision... i saw the other day that radio 2 have score cards to download/print off \link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/eurovision/2006/playground/scorecards.shtml\here}.
i was checking out the belgian entry (i'm orginally from belgium) and my word, it is even more rubbish than normal! :)

blobsmummy · 18/05/2006 11:12

Thanks LilacBump - saves me having to make one! Grin

I'll wait for the semi-finals to be finished tonight and then I'll print off the final scorecard tomorrow. I have to confess, I haven't even heard the UK entry Blush, but I'm assuming that it's naff. Actually it wouldn't be much fun if the songs were good - the enjoyment comes from watching people make fools of themselves! Wink

BEKsmum · 18/05/2006 11:41

Gatecrash sorry Smile

Diddle, just seen your post on the Nov thread, wow 37 weeks where did the time go!

Don't know if you saw my response to you about childminding but you could mind my two monsters any time Grin Glad to hear you've stopped working for a while, enjoy the quiet time 'cos life is never going to be the same again.

Look after yourself and your gorgeous bump because you could be meeting your little one any time from now - I never got past 37 weeks!

Looking forward to reading your birth announcement

Love to you and your dh, soon you'll be 3 Beks!

SuperSaint · 18/05/2006 12:25

Hi All

I am 38 weeks today - I had already given birth by this time with DD and was expecting the same with this one so he'll probably be really late just to confuse me! Yesterday was DD's birthday so I am glad I got past that and they don't have to share - that was my big "pregnancy worry"!

I've just come back from the midwife and everything is fine - baby is still 2/5ths engaged and it is just a waiting game now.

Take care everyone.

Lottielou · 18/05/2006 14:34

Hi all, hope you are all well.
I'm 37 weeks on saturday and just come back from check up with MW. Baby is head down but not engaged, she said that with 1st time mums baby should be engaged at 35 weeks. Anyone else heard of this?
I have to go and see a consultant on Tues to see if there is any reason for the baby not engaging.
Is anyone else's baby not engaged at nearly 37 weeks?

elizabuff · 18/05/2006 14:43

Lottielou - I'm 37wks +3 now, and I think baby still isn't engaged. I saw the midwife about a week ago and she wasn't at all concerned, she seemed to think it was perfectly normal actually (she still seems convinced that the baby is going to come early too, though how she can tell I don't know).

I heard that sometimes 1st babies don't fully engage until you are actually in labour and it's not unusual for it to be as late as the last week anyway. I think it's mums who have had previous births that are supposed to engage earlier - I suppose the baby has had the way made clear, so to speak! Seems strange that they are sending you to a consultant because of it, but at least they are on their toes and keeping care of you. I'm fairly sure you've got absolutely nothing to worry about though!

Lottielou · 18/05/2006 14:53

elizabuff - Thanks hun. I'm pleased that she is sending me to a consultant just in case there are any compllications, what's bugging me is.... what complications could there be?
I'm trying not to worry too much, but as this is a world of unknown with it being my first i feel kinda up in the air. iykwim?
Maybe i'm a little dissapointed too, i have a very strong feeling that baby will be here early, now i'm thinking that maybe that is just wishful thinking!
In need of chocolate me thinks!
So 37+3 hey, how are you doing? Been coping ok?
Haven't been on here for a while so am a bit lost to hwere everyone is at.
xx

happybebe · 18/05/2006 14:58

lottielou- it is true most 1st time babies engage by 35 weeks although about 20 percent engage after, its actually second time round that the baby may not engage until actual birth. they will want to check the size of your pelvis and the sze of your baby to make sure that baby is not actually physically too big to turn head down, i had this with DD1 (my first) she stayed breech and transverse up until 39 weeks and they did the pelvis check etc, and offered and EVC where they try to encourage your baby to turn, however i refused it as i heard it can really distress baby. its nothing to worry about, worst case scenario is that they may find your pelvis is too small or has an awkward angle to it and decide you may need to give birth by c-section. hope that puts your mind at rest.

Lottielou · 18/05/2006 15:02

happybebe - yeah that does help thanks. Smile I am thankful that baby isn't breach or transverse so i should smile really as i know there are others that are. So what happened with you and you DD1? Did she turn at 39 weeks and you delivered normally?
Is this your 2nd now? How long you got left?

happybebe · 18/05/2006 17:08

yes this is my second DD cant wait only six weeks left! DD1 finally turned at 39 weeks and i went into labour 39 + 5 weeks so just in time! luckily she was a smallish baby as some babies actually just run out of room to turn apparently. gave birth to her naturally, a nice straightforward 10 hour labour, such a relief after being threatened with a c section (am terrified of anything like that!)

dont worry i bet your baby will settle into position soon! :)

RachelPross · 18/05/2006 18:48

:) Good news, blood tests normal so just another 5 weeks of waiting for me. Was starting to think that maybe I'd said I wanted the baby out one too many times....I will never complain about being uncomfortable again! Much rather keep he in there for a few weeks now after yesterdays little fright!

RachelPross · 18/05/2006 18:53

blobsmummy · 19/05/2006 11:24

Morning all - feel a bit panicky at the mo.

I had a show yesterday morning (eeeek!) and today I've got diarrhoea (double eeeeek!).

I am trying to tell myself that it could still be days, if not weeks away and that I'm getting worked up over what could be nothing, in order to save myself any disappointment. However, if this is the slow start of it, I'd quite like it to hurry up and put me out of my suspense!

I'm not normally a flapping type of person, but I'm not quite sure what to do with myself at the moment. Maybe if I go and hang out the washing that'll ground me a bit.

Ooooo, feeling very nervous, excited and scared!
