Hi everyone. I have bought nothing at all--too paranoid! I can envisage having to send DH out to the shops on the day of my C-section. I've done some window-shopping on ebay though and know which buggy I want (Mountain Buggy Urban). Next weekend there's a re-usable nappy teaching session at our local farmers' market so am going to find out all about them. We only have a tiny garden-free flat and no dryer (actually, we don't even have a bathroom or kitchen at the mo, as the builders are in) so I don't know how feasible they are.

trix1 · 22/04/2006 19:38

Hello everyone, you have all been busy chatting. I feel like im really missing out now that im back at work i just dont get a moment for mumsnet :(

23 weeks now and I am still exhausted I still just want to go to bed at 7.00pm. When will i get the energy splurge.

We are still getting new people joining the thread - welcome all, we must be the biggest ante natal thread now.

jayjaybaby · 23/04/2006 14:30

lunavix · 23/04/2006 14:46

Hi everyone, wasn't paying attention adn realised my last post was on the old thread!

We used reusables with ds from when I 'discovered' them when he was around 8 months, until he was around a year and a half. I really liked them but I don't think they suited him. He's a very heavy wetter, and he'd get through a tots, with a thick booster, and be soaked through the wrap onto his trousers in an hour! Plus until recently he was averaging around 7 - 8 HUGE poos a day. A friend had her dd in reusables, and she pooed maybe once a day, and never soaked through. So if this is a dd, then yes we will probably try again but if it's another ds then not likely.

I like all wipes really lol! I like the normal green pampers ones, and also the aloe vera johnsons ones (the stripey ones! so soft!) While I love the smell of huggies, they tear so easily and are a pain to get out of the packet. Tescos are good for a cheap option (when they are 2 for £2) but aren't as nice-smelling. Asdas are disgusting.

We went to Abingdon and played around with a phil and teds e3 and it's definately our buggy of choice. It means ds will get to choose if he wants to get in and out and there's so little faffing converting it too. Going to buy it after dh gets paid at the end of the month :)

What do we have left to get? A car seat, and we're deciding whether to bother getting the travel system converter for the phil and teds. Bedding for our crib, can't find ANY we like. Bottles, nappies, and our stereliser needs work (limescaling and etc, just lobbed it into the garage after ds Blush if it's too shocking will just buy another!) I'm getting so excited, and although I know we decided to buy everything pink cos the sonographer said it was most likely a girl a little voice in the back of my head is going 'but what if it's a boy' lol

OOOh I have some maternity clothes to sell if anyones interested, thought I'd offer first refusal on here. 2 blooming marvellous , both size 10, 3/4 ish length. One's denim one's beige cord. Also a denim mini skirt from next with overbump panel. Size 10 and still has tags on! I'm just not a skirt person, wasn't before being pg so no idea why I thoguht I'd be after!

PinkTulips · 23/04/2006 18:56

is anyone else getting really bad Braxton Hicks? like i mean really really bad. been getting them for a few days now and it's driving me up the wall. don't remember them getting this bad or this frequent til 36+ weeks last time, not to mention baby isn't helping by constantly trying to lie sideways with his feet lodged into my ribs!

poor dp has offered to drive me to the hospital twice already today, poor man isn't cut out for this stuff, everytime he sees me flinch he thinks i'm in labour. this is going to be a very long 16 weeks!

sorry, moan over! how's everyone else doing?

Rainbow · 23/04/2006 18:59

PinkTulips - I don't mean to worry you or anything but it might be worth getting that checked. I thought I was having very bad braxton hicks for approx a week but I wasn't, I was in labour. DS was born 8 weeks early

PinkTulips · 23/04/2006 19:03

well they're still very irregular and tend to get worse in the evening when i'm tired so i won't panic just yet. hospital here is a bit of a joke so i'll wait and see how it goes. they do ease under a hot shower too which is supposed to mean they're just BHs. thanks for the advice though Smile

kitegirl · 23/04/2006 19:28

Pinktulips, for really bad Braxton Hicks that get worse in the evenings, the consultant who delivered ds 2 years ago, Donald Gibb who practises on Harley St, Portland and St John & Liz and allegedly is one of the best obstetricians in the country blah blah blah, advises that you should have a glass of wine every evening as it relaxes the womb and the mind and will not harm the baby! (it's also on his website www.thebirthcompany.co.uk). I liked that particular piece of advise myself... so that's what I did.

olivo · 23/04/2006 19:56

Hi everyone! has just taken me ages to look through the messages from the last two weeks! had a fantastic holiday although it was very hot but it was great to laze around in the sun. it was odd to think that it was the last time it 'd be just us as a couple though.
flights were fine but I was a bit freaked to have to sign a form on the way home saying that all was ok with pg and I would be responsible if it caused a problem!!! for some reason, everyone sems to think i look bigger than 22 wks!Blush
am dreading the comments I'll get back at work tomorrow as i know I'm huge!!

great to hear so many have made it to/past the magical 24 weeks - well done!

hope everyone is well x

PinkTulips · 23/04/2006 21:07

definitely the type of treatment i could live with kitegirl Wink thank god i've had one before this and know how differnat contractions feel or i'd be really worried!

welcome back olivo, so Envy of your holiday, dying for one myself but doesn't look like i'll be getting one until d and baby are old enough to enjoy it too.

Nbg · 24/04/2006 11:27

Hiya everyone.
Glad you had a good time Olivo Smile

PT, I've been getting quite bad BH's and they really take my breath away.
After having a bit of a craving I treated myself to a bottle of vino on Saturday so I'll take the experts advice KG Grin

I've also been feeling really breathless too. Has anyone got any good tips to ease this as it's quite uncomfy and makes me feel a bit light headed?

All I've bought is a blue Jojo Maman body suit off ebay.
We need a new steriliser, bottles and eventually either a new cot or a single bed for dd so that the baby can have the cot.
We went to my mums yesterday for dinner and they have stored all dd's baby bits for us. I took out the carry cot to see if needed cleaning and forgot that I filled it with newborn clothes. I had a good rummage and found loads of plain sleepsuits and body suits so we are sorted for clothes for the first few weeks now. Just washing them atm so I'm really pleased.

kitegirl · 24/04/2006 12:23

a bottle of vino Nbg? good work... Grin

jayjaybaby · 24/04/2006 12:50

am off to see the perinatal pyschiatrist sp? in half an hour am pooing myself
my husband keeps singing the drugs dont work at me and twitching alot

i think this is his way of trying to make me laugh but it's just making me nervous
i'll let you all know what happened later

if they let me out Blush

Nbg · 24/04/2006 12:56

Oh god!
Should have said I only had 1 glass though Grin
Wish I could have had the bottle, lol.

Oh good luck jayjay Smile
Much better you doing things this way rather than end up with PND. I bet you'll feel much better when you have been.

SnowBoo · 24/04/2006 15:47

Oh god, i'm glad its not only me whos breathless! Dh thinks he's called the wrong number when i answer. Panting and heavy breathing. Good job i don't have to run for the phone at work, the clients would get a shock!

Well, got my mums party this Sat and have now delegated jobs to my siblings. Mil (for all her faults) is coming round on Thurs to clean my house as i just can't do it! Wink And my dad is getting on with a few odd jobs. And hopefully weather permitting we shall have a bbq. SO much easier.

Will now take the time to go thru threads and see what i've missed.

OP posts:
olivo · 24/04/2006 21:06

I'm a bit breathless too - attractive heavy breathing!!!! am also getting fed up of everyone telling me how huge I am. i had to lie to a shop assistant today about how far on I was as she asked me if I was in the last few wekes!Blush i told her i was 6 1/2 months!!( just over 5 but hey ho!!)

just wanted to let you know that there is a warehouse clearance sale on blooming marvellous.co.uk, if anyone is interested. Have just managed to part with a bit of hard-earned cash Wink on a few bargains. havent really bought anything until now, some of you sound soooooo organised!

PinkTulips · 24/04/2006 21:08

hope all went well for you jay jay, as nbg said its better to go through all this fuss than cope with pnd undiagnosed for months after, sure everything will be fine though, being aware of the possibility of a problem can be one of the best ways of preventing it and at least you can be sure you'll have tonnes of support if you do get it Smile

nbg, only get breathless if i wear a bra Blush rib cage is spread so far even huge sizes that feel fine when they go on leave me panting after half an hour so i'm wandering around like a hippy without one most of the time! comfy now but my poor heavy boobs are gradually traveling southwards since being pregnant with dd Sad and they used to be so perky!

hope you're feeling a bit less stressed now you've got the siblings doing their fair share Snow, a bbq sounds lovely, bet she'll be over the moon

melsy · 25/04/2006 09:42

Hi all, cant remember when I last came in. So much to catch up on. The heavy breathing must be very common at this stage , as I have it to, bit of a problem at bed time, as just cant catch my breath and seems worse if I lie on my right side.

Pink tulips hows the braxtons going , Mine make me stop with a start. I also need to pass water each time they happen, baby is very very low to.

Jay jay , good luck with the check up, I havent got a mental health team or any check up like that, so sounds like you have very good care. I had ptsd/pnd after my dd, but wasnt diagnosed until 3mths into it I think, I was just behaving very odd. I do have to see a gp every 4weeks, so not sure if thats their way of keeping a check on me. Let us know how it goes and what they say to help you. I do however have an assesmant for CBT, end of May , as have been on a list waiting for nearly a year, so it may just come at the right time, if theres a CBT specialist now that is on the NHS !! there wasnt a year ago in my borough, due to costs , ridic.

Olivo , sounds lovely your trip , I just couldnt face that sort of trip with a toilet training 2.7mth busy busy dd and bump, YUCK !!! You did right to have something like that before, should mean you have better energy reserves, although babys around 7-9mths are quite easy take on a holiday, as more routine and not yet walking !!! So dont think thats it on holiday front !!!

melsy · 25/04/2006 09:43

actually I just looked at my asssesmant letter, it is from mental health team , so may be I am being watched lol !!!! I certainly dont have all me marbles these days !!

SnowBoo · 25/04/2006 11:47

Marbles? Lost mine years ago. Think i'll have to give up driving soon as i just can't concentrate! Have a tiptronic car and can never seem to work out if i'm in auto or manual mode. Dh is getting a bit concerned as i've never even used the manual side!!

As for BH's and needing to pee, i am up about three times a night from it, struggle to the toilet bursting, get there and then a trickle. So gutted every time.

Going to have a look at blooming marvelous or whatever it was (forgotten already). See what i can't buy.

jayjaybaby · 25/04/2006 13:58

well i didnt get sectioned but never realised how mental my family was til i started explaining my family history oh my god ive got to back in 9 weeks to see how i am and work out a plan together for coping
they did mention maybe putting me on tablets before i have baby if nessecary but she was a lovely young ish woman
i must say im always heavy breathing but my asthma has got wore since i got pregnant but oh the rib ache it hurts particulary in bed ive found i can only sleep if im flat on back but boobs are so big i wouldnt dare walk around with no bra but whip it off the moment i get home

BigHotMama · 25/04/2006 15:07

Afternoon everyone, glad your still ere JayJay.
Well I've had a strange morning, I was retching in the shower and ended up throwing up on my feet(nice!), then I got to work and had funny turn with the screen going blurry and my eyes seem to not focus which resulted in me having my first migraine, managed to shake it off somehow as got so much work to do couldnt face going home then coming back to it all tomorrow.
I get breathless if I go upstairs, luckily I live in a ground floor apartment so only have to go upstairs at work. I have been getting hotter though and its not even summer yet, I will be a right sweaty betty come July.
I have now put on one stone and my belly feels so heavy and hard. Getting loads of kicks throughout the day and the night - hyper baby on way!
Braxton Hicks? What do they feel like? Dont think I've had any yet? Had few little period like pains which come on for about 10 minutes or so with few sharp pains in the groin area but dont last very long and not often either? Not sure what they are?
DH caught a glimpse of me waddling like a duck to the toilet early this morning, when I get out of bed I almost feel like I'm going to topple over and cant walk with my body straight, (you had to be there I suppose!!) Grin

Hope everybody is doing ok!

25+2 and counting.

trix1 · 25/04/2006 15:54

Good afternoon all, Ive had a real lazy day woke up this morning still feeling exhausted so stayed in bed! phoned work, feel very guilty now.

last night dh and I coudl see/feel either the head or the bottom of the baby sticking out. It feels so real now. im still waiting for my energy splurge!

SnowBoo · 25/04/2006 19:02

I'm 25+4 today and oh my god! the rib ache. Its all over front and back. Last night was on my hands and knees with dh and ds rubbing my tum and back trying to get baby to shift! I can't lay on my back, sides or obviously tum so i am knackered! And i must be HUGE as met my cousin for lunch and she thought i was near ready to drop Blush But i weighed myself on my mums scales and have actually LOST 4lbs....I know they said he was a big baby but....Shock

Well, I've just ordered some nappies from the nappy lady, taking advantage of the 10% discount for real nappy week. Smile

I am really struggling to walk at times now. The pain in my hips can be excruciating, especially first thing in the morning. Only 3 more days till I see the physio. I'm thinking of not mentioning to the physio that as soon as I'm done there I'm getting in the car to drive to Glasgow (will take about 6 hours!).
