Jayjay you can get yourself over to my house and pack for our move!
Colour co-ordinating wardrobes is just sheer madness!!!

I think we maybe moving in 2 weeks Shock
I am going to be the biggest cow of all time. I hate packing and moving, it's so stressful.

Dh and I watched a magnificent display of kicks last night. I think master bump got a bit mad with something as it looked as though both feet were going one after the other, you know like a toddler when they have a tantrum Grin

Arabica · 28/04/2006 22:04

I sort of still don't believe am really going to have a baby, though!

Nbg · 28/04/2006 22:07

I've found myself forgeting about the baby and then all of a sudden I remember and get a massive rush and become all giddy and excited Grin

It really isn't all that long now is it!

kitegirl · 29/04/2006 06:38

you know what, I'm already planning for the next/third one... I said to dh this morning that I want to have another one straight after this one. And be preggers next summer as well so that I can wear all my summer maternity clothes. Now that's just insane, isn't it??! Must be the rather generous glass of champagne I had last night Grin

Nbg · 29/04/2006 10:00

My word KG!

Dh wasn't very much for no.3 especially when we found out we were having a boy but a couple of days ago he said he'd changed his mind, lol!

I can't think about it until this one arrives yet. When I had dd I said I would do it all again and straight away but 2 weeks later I'd changed my mind Grin

All I can say is, if those long white socks don't put you off then nothing can Grin

HELLY72 · 29/04/2006 11:38

I am new to mumsnet and am now 23+ weeks pregnant and live in west herts. I tried to register for NCT classes a couple of weeks ago but was told we were too late and we are currently way down on a waiting list. I am a bit upset, I did'nt personally feel I could register for something like that untill my 20-week scan was over with and OK but it now appears I hve missed the boat.

Our baby is due late august and I am now getting worried, The NHS classes are ladies only and I feel we need to go as a couple as I feel this will be beneficial to my partner. Has anyone else had this disappointing experience with the NCT in places like St Albans and Watford? If so, what alternatives have they found? I feel I want classes mainly to meet other mums-to-be, this is my first baby.
Any suggestions would be great - thanks

Nbg · 29/04/2006 13:03

Hi Helly Smile
What a shame you missed the NCT. You never know there may be a cancellation and you might get in. I can understand why you wanted to wait.

I take it this is your first baby?

Have you spoke to your Midwife regarding the other classes? Are the NHS ones run by your midwife or are they run at your local hospital?
I find it quite odd that they are ladies only. It seems so daft and a bit behind the times.

You could start a new thread under the pregnancy topic as there are alot of Mumsnet members and I know a few off the top of my head that live around that area. I'm sure someone will be able to help.

If you get stuck starting a new thread give me a shout and I'll start it for you.

Congratulations btw Smile Whens your due date and I'll add you to our list?

olivo · 29/04/2006 18:42

hello everyone and welcome helly72! Smile
everyone ok? my lo obviously thinks its at an aerobics class today - hasnt stopped all day!!

went to an nct sale this a.m but got there quite late so there wasnt much equipment left, just lots of clothes - still managed to pick up a sling for £2 so was worth the look!

hope everyone has a relaxing weekend! x
ps - nbg - i'm a pro at packing up houses, have moved so many times! wish I lived close and i'd give you a hand!!Grin

Arabica · 30/04/2006 11:31

Hello Helly and welcome! Shame about your NCT group, would second the advice about starting a thread, as there are bound to be other mums in your area who know about local options. Can't understand why the classes should be women only--my group was couples/pregnant women and their birth partners only, so they must vary from place to place. I mainly went for the same reason as you, to meet other parents. NCT also do post-natal groups so you might get to meet other mums there. That's how I met one of the mums I am still very much in contact with.

Nbg · 30/04/2006 11:39

Olivo, if you get a bit bored.... Wink
We're still waiting for our final removal quote. Until we get that we can't pick a firm as we have to go with the cheaest since dh's work are paying. Am hoping it will come Tuesday so I can ring them up, get the boxes and crack on packing.

£2 for a sling is fab. I'm still deciding wether to get one or not.

Positive sling stories please people Grin

pucca · 30/04/2006 11:52

Hi everyone Smile

Sorry i have not been on for so long, had so much going on...have moved house (nightmare!).

This baby is so different to my dd, i am feeling really hard kicks all the time (like the ones i felt towards the end with dd!)and i can't believe i am only 23 weeks, i am huge! feeling kicks really high up too Shock higher than i should be for only 23 weeks!! God help me in August when nearing EDD. Grin

I have a important appointment with my consultant on Tues to decide whether i will have to have a c-section or not (previous 3rd degree tear) so i am kind of worrying about that atm, such a big decision to make, but i don't want to end up with permanent incontinence problems (sorry if TMI).

Hope everyone ok?

Smile
Nbg · 30/04/2006 13:10

Congrats on the house move Pucca! Smile

So you may be another one with a due date for your baby Grin
How exciting!

olivo · 30/04/2006 14:08

would also be interested in good sling stories! wasnt going to bother but I'm a sucker for a bargain...Grin made it all seem really real as well. my mum is coming over in 3 weeks and wants us to go shopping to get something for lo from her! i love spending other people's money! it's weird to think I wont see her again until after I've had it though! scary!!

good to hear from you pucca!Smile

nbg -good luck with your packing!!

Nbg · 30/04/2006 20:51

Dd finally felt the baby kick this afternoon and it was a proper foot out of the belly kick.

She thought it was great, giggled like mad and waited for more Grin

I think it's done wonders for her as she really wasn't taking to the whole new baby thing very well. I'm sure part of it is through her being so young and not actually understanding. Just hope it carries on.

lunavix · 30/04/2006 21:23

Hi everyone :)

Anyone else feeling huge???!! I feel so massive, and think god i'm only 5 months lol... but then I remember at this stage with ds I couldn't fit into maternity stuff 2 sizes bigger than me... so maybe I'm not! Some days I still just look fat though, there's not an obvious bump.

olivo - I got my ring sling off ebay for £2, it's so cool. Used it with a mindee for a while, but tbh I bought it when ds was just over a year and he was already too heavy - and I'm just too short and stuff to cope with him! Can't wait to use it with a newborn!

kitegirl - I'm feeling EXACTLY the same! How old is your first? Ds will be 2.4 when this lo is born, and while I wanted a similar age gap between this and the next, I've been contemplating just trying straight away! Like you said, all my maternity clothes will be the same! Plus when ds stops using new phil and teds buggy, newest new baby can go in it! Plus I want 4, but dh only wants 3, so the longer I have to work on him for te 4th the better :)

He starts having panic attacks when I mention the third though!

HELLY72 · 30/04/2006 21:57

Thanks Arabica and nbg - will try and start a thread and see if I can find out from other people in the area. I am kicking myself a bit, as I know how busy august and september are, but I really could'nt think about anything like nct untill after 20 week scan. Still have'nt bought a thing for lo, have only just started buying maternity clothes (Next,Vertbaudet and dorothy perkins best so far!) Only really started looking pg over last few weeks but feel as if am fast growing!

Nbg · 30/04/2006 21:58

Have just found this on the BBC site when looking for maternity wear of all things!

\link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/parenting/video/\Video}

If you click on the conception to birth link, it shows some videos of foetal development.

olivo · 01/05/2006 10:51

Helly72 - i left antenatal classes quite late too but left the nct my details and had a call this morning from the nct lady saying i can go to the ones for july mums starting this thursday - my edd is 4 weeks after the last of the others but i suppose if theirs are late or mine is early or whatever, it wont be that much of a difference. so, i start this thursday for 8 weeks!dh now trying to find excuses why he might not be able to come!! Grin maybe there will be a cancellation and they'll fit you in.fingers crossed for you.

Nbg · 01/05/2006 10:54

My dh was quite reluctant to go to the classes last time and he ended up working the first one but the the following classes he really enjoyed. When I had dd he said that he was glad he had gone.

jayjaybaby · 01/05/2006 10:56

do you live near nottingham nbg if so i'll help
my house has been taken over we have had aplaster in since 7am saturday me amd the mil painted nursery my dh has repainted living room and then over the is week we are repainting the kitchen and finisghing off the dressing room [which looks like a mini mothercare ] and then the dh is finally doing the hallway floor and my house will be done four years of renovation done yipppee

by the way try the pumpkin patch website fab maternity wear and baby stuff plus they have a sale on and p+p is quite good

olivo · 01/05/2006 11:05

I wish we could be so motivated jayjay - we're going to repaint the baby's room and get a new carpet but I just can't get round to it!

nbg - I think dh will be ok once we've been the first time - we're both quite shy with people we dont know - hopefully he'll find them useful too; his idea of support during labour etc is scarily naive!Grin

Nbg · 01/05/2006 12:34

Grin Jayjay.
You'd take one look at our place and have a nervous breakdown!

We're not a million miles from you though.

PinkTulips · 01/05/2006 12:54

olivo, my dps idea of supporting me during labour was to sleep through most of it, and spend an hour of the three hours before the birth i was in hospital going to the shop or outside on the phone, despite that he was fantastic during the actual birth, incredibaly calm and supportive, stood by my head giving me sips of water and just being there for me without interfering which is exactly what i needed. so there hope for them all!

so Envy of all you organised types, we're still half hoping to be able to move before baby comes so not bothering to organise stuff yet, all the stuff for the new baby is still piled in the crib in dd's room and i've only just started rooting through all the baby clothes to see what can be salvaged (thank god for vanish for getting out spit up stains, its saved me a fortune in new babygros!)

just had a rotten weekend, dp had his tooth pulled and was moping around as if he were on deaths door and dd hes had a raging fever for 2 days. were supposed to be away this weekend but no hope of that with both of them sick. so bloody exhausted now though, i'd give anything for a proper lie in like i used to have pre-dd!

welcome helly72, sorry your having trouble with ante-natal classes. have you checked the notice boards in your gp's office for private classes? theres always a few fliers up in my gps and i'm in the boglands of western ireland! check your local papers too in the classified section. you'll have to pay a bit more for classes like these but it's well worth it to prepare your dh, they need to be warned before d-day! Wink

lunavix · 01/05/2006 19:58

Aww my dh kipped through my labour too, although he was very much awake for the actually giving birth bit (looking rather green :P )

Oh if anyone would like to consider real nappies we're also thinking of starting up a business promoting and selling them! We don't think there is any local awareness of them!
