DH is self employed so no paternity, but he works from home. Last time he hardly worked for 3 months after ds was born, but this time we need the money, but at least he'll be on hand in emergencies. Mind you when ds was born all he seemed to do for the first 6 weeks was sleep....

redwellybluewelly · 29/01/2013 21:50

Re paternity leave DH has booked two weeks paternity then two weeks annual leave and option to have two additional weeks unpaid leave which will sting a bit on the basis of me having a CS and possibly unable to drive.

As for draft dates we've gone with him starting paternity when I reach 40weeks although baby may be anytime from 38 weeks to 40+7 so a three week window. Luckily dh's employers have agreed to move him from project work to mundane paperwork from 38weeks so as and when I go into labour he hasnt to worry about work.

My worry is dd and care for her while I'm in hospital and also afterwards while I am recovering. My SIL will hopefully be able to help out a bit but dd is cuddly and to be unable to lift her or co sleep for ages when she is dealing with a new sibling arriving seems mean in the extreme.

redwellybluewelly · 29/01/2013 21:52

Spot the mistake. 38 to 41 weeks. Sigh.

AlohaMama · 29/01/2013 21:57

should point out that dh's lack of work last time was by choice. we'd also only moved into our house a few days before ds was born so he was busy fixin' stuff up, plus we had both sets of parents visit us from uk.

SunnyL · 29/01/2013 23:11

My DH is a police man (sorry police officer if we're going to be pedantic). He was most worried about being cited for court since he can be arrested if he doesnt show up cos i've gone into labour. Thankfully he's got a lovely boss who is a father of three little ones who has told him not to worry the fiscal will understand.

On a different note i've had an extremely sore back today. It came on fast and felt like a kidney stone (loooonnnnggg history of stones) but i'm all confused and now thinking it might be a pregnancy thing. Anyone else had issues?

learnermummy · 29/01/2013 23:23

Back sounds sore Sunny, prob should get that checked out.
As for paternity leave my DH gets 1 week full pay and 1 week statutory so will probably just take the 1 week paternity and then a weeks holiday - he gets loads of holiday too (lucky him...) but yes that 2 weeks will start when I go into labour.

pinkapples · 30/01/2013 06:29

No back pain but a severe lack of sleep is now creeping in on me grrr Angry

Re paternity hubby gets loads of sick/holiday allowance so is planning on using that so he can be off with me when baby comes Grin

21+2 today and still can't decide if baby is moving properly yet I just want her to give me a swift reassuring kick hehe I'm sure ill regret saying that when she actually does start moving more regularly fly jab yesterday so arm is numb but apart from that alls good

Anyone else planning on going to any of the baby shows?

cyclecamper · 30/01/2013 07:24

pinkapples I'd like to go to the one at excel, but since I'm not buying anything at all if I can cadge it off someone I'm not sure if I will. I think my husband might laugh at me too Blush.

sunny my back has been dreadful although it seems to have settled a bit this week. Worth getting it checked.

MrsBri · 30/01/2013 07:32

Pinkapples, I sleep quite badly too...too uncomfortable and too hot. Think I'm kind of getting used to it now though.

I'm not doing a baby show. I considered the one at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, but decided against it as I doubt I'd buy anything. And I can't be bothered to walk round it either. Also, I'd probably be faced with a sea of borange women which would do my head in!

Mawgatron · 30/01/2013 08:13

DH is self employed, I'm assuming that means that he gets bugger all :(

redwellybluewelly · 30/01/2013 09:08

Sunny I'd get it checked out, a UTI can be a not at all good thing when pregnant and so worth ensuring all ok

I'm not going to any baby shows as they are mostly too far away. I do want to trade our buggy in though, it has a great deal of memories but not all of them are good and I'd really like a double Mountain Buggy. DD will be 2.10 when this baby arrives and I think she will still be wanting to be able to use a buggy. I'll use the sling when I am going solo. Or I may leave it to closer to June and get a single old style MB and a double 360.

sandypie1 · 30/01/2013 10:41

yeah sleeping badly myself - part discomfort, part excitement and partly sheer terror over whats to come lol

learnermummy · 30/01/2013 12:25

Congratulations learnermummy, what lovely news!

BumbleBee2011 · 30/01/2013 14:25

Congrats learnermummy Grin

Counting down til my scan next Friday - though I just got some news that my grandad in France is very unwell, I want to fly out but it would have to be after the scan. I saw him last year with DH and DD, he has dementia and momentarily thought I was my mum, but for the most part wasn't sure who we all were.

Feeling really conflicted about what to do - I can't go for any length of time without DD (I've never left her for more than 2 days and am feeling emotional at the best of times at the moment), but the idea of travelling alone with her is a bit daunting right now.

Guess I just have to wait for more news and go from there, my mum is on her way out there from Australia right now so hopefully tomorrow I'll know more.

AlohaMama · 30/01/2013 19:27

just back from scan. all is well, everything is as it should be. and....it's a girl!!!!

forgetmenots · 30/01/2013 19:28
