Congratulations on your good scan news redwelly and great that you are able to stay under community care (but have the option of a CS if you need it). We are hoping be able to opt for a water birth in midwifery led unit too. Hope that your work are understanding not too stuffy and give you the support that you need.

Littlemiss, I find a pair of thick, wooly tights under the under the bump maternity jeans seems to help them stay up (extra friction maybe?), quite nice if you are out and about in this chilly weather, but not ideal indoors.

Two days til scan day here and we're still undecided on whether to find out but erring towards staying team yellow!

LexiLexi · 23/01/2013 15:30

and congrats to you too pinkapples!

forgetmenots · 23/01/2013 16:25

Awww pinkapples so pleased it went well, know how worried you were. Congrats on your girl :) and redwelly congrats on your....! :)

We are both having scans on Friday lexi - team yellow for me :)

arlandria666 · 23/01/2013 16:32

Scan went well yipeeee i cried with relief! Got a right wriggle bum in there! Baby was very co operative and i was a very proud mummy :-) even if we didn't want to find out sex we wouldn't have had much choice! Baby certainly isn't shy! Definitely a boy :-D can't describe the relief i feel now hopefully i can relax and enjoy the rest of pregnancy...then again highly doubtful :-/ pleased yours went well too pinkapples :-) xxxx

pinkapples · 23/01/2013 16:55

Awww glad everyone else's scans are going well Grin and settling to the idea of a little girly although we weren't bothered we just wanted a healthy baby she said she was 75% sure so were happy with that GrinGrin congrats on your boy too

princesschick · 23/01/2013 16:57

Hey all,
Lots of lovely scan news. Congrats to all those with that milestone checked off. We had our 20 week scan today too and everything is looking good. Baby was uncharacteristically quiet and decided to be very stubborn about not moving his hands from his face! I had to be tipped backwards and baby got a few big prods from the sonographer to get him into position! They finally got all measurements and saw everything they needed to. We've got some very cute pics of baby with feet on head and hands in mouth :) No idea about the sex, but then we didn't want to know anyway so all good for us. We'll still call him him in the text book sense but who knows he could be she. So exciting!
Big sigh of relief :)

AlohaMama · 23/01/2013 17:07

So exciting to hear about all these scans. Anyone kept tabs on how many boys/girls and unknowns?? (or 75% girl in pinkapples case!)
Only 1 week to go now for me. Can't wait, particularly as I'm not sure I'm feeling any movement. Had a couple of days last week when i thought I was but nothing since. But then am still only 18 weeks. Still, I'd like to know everything is ok.

Good luck telling work redwelly. I can imagine it being slightly difficult in academia, especially if no one else has set a precedent. I was 1st in my organisation to have a baby but luckily had very supportive boss. Seemed to start something of a trend though. Now I'm on number 2 there are 2 others pregnant at the same time!

As for mat leave, will be working up to the day here. I get 12 wks mat leave and want it all to be with the baby. Last time I went from work to the dr office for a memrane sweep, stopped to do food shopping on the way home, and then started contractions that afternoon!

MrsJLS85 · 23/01/2013 17:19

congrats on all the scans!!! Lovely news!

redwellybluewelly · 23/01/2013 17:29

Hey - we have oodles of updates - just taken me ages to read through them Grin

We've run out of decaff teabags so having to be make do with glasses of water which is a bit rubbish. I've finally told my mum but rest of family will have to wait awhile because that much screaming at my poor ears cannot be good!

I am working FT to 34 weeks, then PT (3 days) until 38 weeks all being well, I think I get 6 months maternity at MA levels and then I'll go back PT. The maximum time I'll have without baby after finishing is 3 weeks but I will need a bit of me time to get cooking done etc, intend to set up a ten day shopping list online and just keep ordering it!

MrsBri · 23/01/2013 17:48

Congrats on all the good scans :-) Boy, girl and secret!!

I understand your reticence a bit, redwellly, as I started as a trainee solicitor last week and was worried the news wouldn't go down too well, but it hasn't been too bad. Fx your work are good about it too. :-)

MrsBri · 23/01/2013 17:57

Oh, and baby has spent the entire day on the move today...hopefully he will sleep well tonight as he must be knackered. Still being kicked and prodded now. And I'm starving...he must be growing.

13 days til my scan :-)

AlohaMama · 23/01/2013 18:14

congrats on the new job mrsbri!

AlohaMama · 23/01/2013 18:22

redwelly i stopped drinking tea during first trimester, because it made me feel sick, but now it doesn't I'm back on it. Complete with caffeine. I think as long as you don't have too much caffeine it's fine.

Littlemissexpecting · 23/01/2013 18:26

Glad today's scans went wellGrin
I've got mine tomorrow, starting to feel a bit sick but fingers crossed all ok. Bump seems huge today! Anyone else got theirs 2mrw? I seem to remember someone else mentioning an appt on 24th?
They are underbump maternity jeans, with adjustable elastic inside with button but don't seem to help them stay up! Some days are fine but some days they just wont stay put! Might try the thick wooly tights under the jeans while its cold. I'm taking the jeans off when I get home anyway as putting comfy yoga pants on!!

MrsBri · 23/01/2013 18:50

Thank you, Aloha...it's the same employer, just a different title! But I've waited years for this, so I ended up giving in and getting pregnant before I got too old!

maisiebeem · 23/01/2013 20:29

littlemissexpecting we've got our scan tomorrow! soo excited, plus its pay day for me, so thinking tomorrow will be a good day! Smile
Just had a new mattress delivered, some sort of memory foam, pocket springed something or other?! Confused but hoping that will help me to sleep well. I have been sleeping with extra pillows, onebehind my back, one inbetween my legs and one inbetween me and my dh. but i have found the past few mornings ive woken up to my dh hugging the pillow not me!
congrats to everyone one whos had scans so far, and i'm sure time will fly for those still with a couple of weeks to wait!

AmIGoingMad · 23/01/2013 20:38

Great news on all of the fabulous scans! Like aloha I'm still playing the waiting game and am quite nervous. My scan is feb 11th when I'll be just under 21 wks and it seems like ages away- especially as the midwife wouldn't listen for heartbeat and I'm not really feeling much movement. A few times I've thought that I've felt something but I was expecting to be certain and to be feeling quite a bit as i'm 18wks and this is baby number 2. But I am rather flatulent with a rumbly belly at the moment so maybe the movements getting lost in that! I hope that's all it is.

Redwelly nice that you're feeling more reassured about labour now Smile

And mrsbri well done on getting something you've been waiting for for a long time- I bet it feels all the better now after that wait!Smile

I'm probably missing lots out here but this thread moves so quickly that I can't keep up! Great though as its lively when I do get to read through all the posts! Smile

Oo and happy birthday for yesterday littlemiss!Smile

Mawgatron · 24/01/2013 06:24

Oh my, hadn't occurred to me that if they can't see any bits at the 20week scan then you would have to pay to find out! That sucks!

I haven't had a letter yet about mine. I know when it is because of my notes (31st jan)- is that bit of paper in there the letter or should I be chasing them?

Can't wait to see mini me again, I'm getting huge, so I'm guessing mini me is too!

Congratulations on all of your lovely scan news everyone!

MrsBri · 24/01/2013 06:30

If you know when it is, I don't think you get a letter. I booked mine after my first, so I'm not expecting a letter to arrive. :-)

Withalittlesparkle · 24/01/2013 08:48

Maw our scans are on the same day!!!

suzyrut · 24/01/2013 10:23

Congratulations on lovely scan results, pink, blue and yellow!

pinkapples my scan lady said she wasn't sure the first time whether it was a boy or girl but said she would've seen boy bits and was 75% first time, fortunately she was lovely and let us come back half an hour later to rescan me and there was a definite 3 lines so I reckon you can be pretty confident.

On maternity leave I'm going to take from end of first week of May off. I had dreams of batch cooking and naps on the sofa but my son is taking common entrance exams between 3rd and 6th June (am due on 2nd!!!) so it will be revision central in my house unless she's early in which case it will be revision AND new baby central in my house!

Sunbeam18 · 24/01/2013 11:33

Anyone else got their scan on 1 Feb? X

pinkapples · 24/01/2013 13:02

Thanks x
I'm not sure whether to have a gender scan at £79 in a few weeks

We want a mural wall in the baby's room and the choice is a jungle or a midnight castle. If I get the castle and it turns out a boy then Confused jungle can be with both but I do love the castle for a little girl decisions decisions

EddieIzzardIsOrange · 24/01/2013 14:15

Looks like we're having a bit of a blue boom! Of all those that have found out, think there is a leaning to little boys....

If everyone who does know updates their details on the stats thread (or just writes 'yellow' if they dont know/dont want to say) then we have a proper count-up!

DontmindifIdo · 24/01/2013 14:49

pinkapples, go for jungle either way, you can say you don't believe in gender stereotyping. Wink

I'm trying to decide about a gender scan. It's £100 for the clinic near us. (although I suppose we could try to find one in central London that's cheaper). It's a lot of money for something (as DH says) we'll find out eventually...
