I haven't been doing much exercise at all, walking aside :( I feel heavy and tired and I work long hours, all I want to do is crash out!

Had a great night's sleep last night thanks to my new purchase (dreamgenii pillow). It has also stopped my bed looking like a second hand soft furnishings shop!

forgetmenots · 18/01/2013 08:56

Ps just saw the symptoms posts, interesting! I haven't gone off much to be honest but have always been a savoury tooth and have eaten a bit more chocolate... Interesting theory mooton about testosterone!

AmIGoingMad · 18/01/2013 09:52

Aw mrsbri- just as it was seeming to calm down! Hope it stops soon. I'm with you on the link with tiredness. Felt sick as a dog wed night and last night but luckily no actual sickness.

Rue- how's the potty training going? How old is DS? Mines nearly 2 and has starting going on there for a pee after bathtime but not sure how to progress from there. Hopefully will have a more concerted effort when I have some time off work!

I still haven't dug out my DVDs to start exercising. Keep meaning to but not quite gotten round to it...

SunnyL · 18/01/2013 10:10

Has anyone else started having weird dreams? Mine all seem to revolve around toilets at the moment.

Wednesday night I dreamt that i really needed the loo but all I could find was a unisex toilet that had no cubicles or doors around the loos. So was trying to work out how to pee without showing the world my bum.

Thursday night i dreamt that I really needed the loo but they all had 'out of order' signs on them.

Needless to say I think i really need to stop lying on my front - tell that to my unconcious self though!

DontmindifIdo · 18/01/2013 10:26

alohaMama - toddler running after and carrying is all the exercise you need! My 3 year old is a right lump - and as he's all chicken poxy is wanting to be carried up and down stairs alot.

lots of kicks here, one this morning when DS had his hand on my bump, which apparently is the funniest thing in the whole world when you're 3. He then waved and said "Hello, I'm your big brother" to the bump.

I'm finding out what flavour I've got next Tuesday. As this pregnancy has been very different to the last one, I'd thought perhaps I was having a girl, but last night I had a very clear dream about walking along with 2 DSs, a younger one who's got dark hair like me (DS is blond like DH). I've had Rolf Harris' "2 little boys" in my head all morning. I'm now guessing boy, will let you know if I'm right (it would be easier for hand me downs too!)

Hello! Hope everyone is alright and blooming (or at least not throwing up quite as often!)

I've been a bit rubbish at keeping up on this thread but things have been manic - DP started university, FIL was very ill late for some months last year and passed away just before xmas, now we are currently attempting to sort out the estate and hopefully all being ok, we will be taking on his mortgage and moving into his house later this year (really looking forward to the thought of doing that either heavily pregnant or with a tiny baby!)

Anyway had my 20 week scan yesterday (21 weeks today, woo!) and found out we're having another little boy! Between DP, DS (who is 2 tomorrow!) and now DS2 I'm going to be so outnumbered! Everything seems ok too which is obviously the main thing although they couldnt see his face or heart (he wouldnt budge over!) so have to go back in 3 weeks just to check. Although, slightly worryingly, his head was measuring 22+5 weeks yesterday! Ouch

Think we've finalised name too so pleased with that and I'm going to pop into town today and buy something sweet for his first thing to wear, wont need to buy hardly any other clothes though, still have all DS's...do need bottles, steriliser and monitor though, think they all went after DS stopped using them

How is anybody else planning transport/travel things? I was planning a sling/buggy/walk combo between them both but after a spectacular tantrum in the supermarket a few days ago I bought a second hand Phil&Teds sport, strap them both in and off we go! Although its heavy and a pain to get up and down stairs (live in a flat for now)

Ok, sorry, will stop wittering now!

Littlemissexpecting · 18/01/2013 11:01

Good to hear of all the healthy scans. I can't wait for mine 6 sleeps to go!!
My sickness appears to have stopped touch wood and everything in sight so I'm starting to eat and feeling so much better. Sorry to hear some of you are still being sick.
So cold here and DH is at work so I'm still in bed where its warmer!!

Sarah2506 · 18/01/2013 11:01

Weird question- has anyone noticed that one side of their bump is warmer than the other? My left hand side is much warmer than the right! I know I have an anterior placenta so maybe that's where it is? Weird though. DH noticed when he was chatting with her last night- I'm a girl, we found out early!! X

Littlemissexpecting · 18/01/2013 11:26

My whole tummy is very warm. I also have an anterior placenta. It's really weird but kind of comforting

cyclecamper · 18/01/2013 12:00

waves Can I join in? Sorry to be late - I only found out 3 weeks ago (at 16 weeks) and I wasn't sure of timings till I had a scan yesterday - which puts me at 19 weeks today. I'm still waiting for a mw appointment, hopefully next week.

I'm rather shocked that it turned out not to be my imagination after all! I thought it was the menopause, since I'm 42 and my husband had the snip 10 years before I met him Shock. Still one of the little blighters was clearly determined, so here I am.Smile

forgetmenots · 18/01/2013 12:21

Welcome cycle camper! Wow that was a nice Christmas present :) do you have other DCs or is this your first? Definitely a determined baby I reckon! Congratulations :)

DontmindifIdo · 18/01/2013 13:13

Hello CycleCamper - that's a fabulous story! That must be a determined little baby you've got there!

EddieIzzard - wow you've got alot on! Don't worry about moving. We moved when I was 7 months pregnant with DS (and DH had just broken his shoulder), my advise would be throw money at the problem and get a removal company to do it for you, but Iwould suggest you start now with the sorting out, don't underestimate how long it would take. (BTW - does that mean your DP will be trying to study for end of year exams with a newborn in the house?)

I'm just going to go with buggy board for DS, but he's nearly a year older than your DS - with a 2.5year old and newborn I think you're doing the right thing with a double buggy. When you move into the new house, will you be able to just leave it up and wheel in and out? (realistically, I only folded DS's buggy for the car, otherwise it stayed up and wheeled in and out at home).

This is technically my first, although I have 22 and 16 year old step sons and having spent the last 22 years as a nanny, it feels like my first pregnancy, but about my 52nd child Grin. At the moment we have both boys and the 22 year olds girlfriend living with us, so along with the bikes and tandems in the house it is a bit of a houseful!

DontmindifIdo · 18/01/2013 14:14

Don't worry, a screaming baby being awake through the night and a step mum breast feeding and talking about her stitches will soon get those 22year olds looking at moving out... Wink

Try not to be too hard on yourself BTW - I know a few nannies who struggled when they had their own DCs because they felt they should be able to do this easily, it's different to a day job when you've also been up in the night as well and physically recovering from a massive change to your body....

cyclecamper · 18/01/2013 14:35

Dontmind I seriously considered asking for a home birth, just for the fun of putting them off pregnancy for a bit, but I think the 16 year old (who has asbergers) would be too freaked out, so I probably won't. ProbablyGrin.

DontmindifIdo · 18/01/2013 14:38

hmm, you don't have to tell them that you are planning on going to hosptial though, you could have fun planning the home birth, lots of "one born every minute" on the TV each evening... put one of them on "poo scoop" duty for the water pool... Oh god, you could have soooo much fun! [evil]

AmI potty training is going pretty well thanks - he will be 3 next month and we're on a deadline because he starts preschool in a few weeks and they don't have the facilities to change nappies Grin

He's been sitting on the potty before baths/at bedtime etc for nearly a year on and off but seemed not to be ready - until we forced the issue! He's taken to it very well, we spent the first few days at home with him just in pants & tops, now he's back in trousers and we've been to a couple of playgroups.

A friend gave us a Potette Plus which I'd never heard of but is genius - fold down potty lined with padded nappy bags basically, they do their business and you just tie up the bag, put it in a nappy bag and bin it.

(Apologies to all the first timers, bet you don't want to even consider this stuff yet... Grin)

AmIGoingMad · 18/01/2013 16:16

Welcome cycle! Yours is obviously one determined baby! I'm also laughing aloud at you and dontmind plotting!Grin

Congrats eddieizzard!Smile

Rue I was thinking that could well be the way to go with DS- will see how he goes but maybe try Easter time if he seems ready then. If not then 2 in nappies for a while it is!

I hope the snows been ok for you all! I'm benefitting from a bonus 'snow day' but could really do with Tesco being able to make an appearance tomrw- I've been without crisps for 2 days- not good at the moment!!!Grin

pinkapples · 18/01/2013 17:10

Just checked out the warm belly as I'm freeZing just come in from a snow walk with the dogs Grin my right side is warmer than my left side Grin don't know if there's anything in it I'm still panicking about the scan in Wednesday nice to hear the good stories of scans so fingers crossed mines ok to and we will know if we are camp blue or camp pink!

AlohaMama · 18/01/2013 17:29

Congrats cycle. Laughing at your plotting. Why not start now? I'm sure your dss would love to hear all the details of some of the less pleasant pregnancy symptoms!

Eddie I'm hoping to get by with sling/pushchair or pushchair/walking for my two (I have a jogger and you can't get a buggy board). But I can always reclaim the double I bought for our Childminder, which I'd got so she could take out my ds with hers.

am I and rue I'm hoping to start potty training in the spring. I will buy potty soon to get ds used to the idea, but I really don't want 2 in nappies, I only have enough cloth for one for a start.

MoottonBun · 18/01/2013 18:00

Interesting, that people are trying out aquanatal. Sounds like something I would enjoy but am thinking I am too tight to fork out for a maternity swimming cozzie now seeing as this is probably my last pregnancy - or maybe I'll just cut a bump hole in my normal cozzie, hmm that'll be nice Grin and the thought of wearing a bikini makes me shudder!

LexiLexi · 18/01/2013 18:48

forgetmenots your comment about the secondhand furnishing shop made me laugh- we are knee deep in all manner of cushions and pillows here too, think we're going to hunt for one of the triangle shaped pillows as i've heard they're good for breastfeeding too!

Congratulations cyclecamper and to all those who have had their scans over the last couple of days, it's been a busy week!

Mama pack arrived today and was quite pleased, amongst other things we got some Naty Eco Nappies and eco chemical free baby wipes to try (can't believe I'm talking about nappies already...) No chocolate though. Boo.

MoottonBun if you fancy taking the plunge you may be able to find something on Ebay? (you should be able to get something new for around a tenner)

AlohaMama · 18/01/2013 19:09

moottonbun for the first half of pregnancy last time I just got a cheap cossie in larger size and stretched it. Tankinis work well too, and usually less expensive than special maternity wear.

dreamydays · 18/01/2013 19:15

Hi cycle and congrats. Great story!

Congrats everyone on successful scans. Glad to see everyone being reassured despite worrying beforehand. My scan today was also fine, except could see very little as baby was tucked up against placenta and facing firmly away from us! We've known for a month it's a girl.

Dr v reassuring about everything, including the massive size of my bump compared to last time! She also felt it would be fine to go on holiday in Europe at 34 weeks if we want, provided we take certificate and medical notes - "if you deliver, you deliver"!
