Sparkle and forget...I feel exactly the same as you. I think it is only natural, but it is frustrating, I think, to worry so much. I'm desperately trying to tune in to baby's movements now after the kicks on Friday.

Just have to try to stay calm. UnMN hugs all round, I think.

forgetmenots · 16/01/2013 07:50

It's not maybe a nice thing to say but it's weirdly comforting that others feel the same - makes it more likely to be 'normal'. I've been trying to just take the opportunity to get on with things while I feel less affected, and it's a distraction. Very unMN hugs to you all, I'm sure the babies are just busy growing... We might be wishing for a kick free day in a week or two!

DontmindifIdo · 16/01/2013 08:13

I must say, I do'nt remember feeling DS kick this early, so perhaps you've just got more laid back babies(this isn't a bad thing when towards the end they can be kicking hte hell out of you constaintly)

I'm currently trying not to panic - giving DS a bath last night I noticed he'd got a rash on his torso/legs. I know chicken pox is doing the rounds in this area. I just hope it's not that,I've kept him off nursery today and have a GP appointment this morning to check what it is. He seems really chipper and playing nicely with his cars so I think it's unlikely to be anything serious. Spent last night googling worse case senario for bump if I catch chicken pox. Really, google can be the way to maddness...

Hugs to all those feeling non-pregnant and worried. Just to reassure you, it will only be a couple more weeks like this then you'll feel decidedly pregnant with a growing bump and regular movement - as long as you don't start worrying on the days when there isn't much movement.

sarah I'm British (well dual us-uk but lived most of my life in England so the us-psrt is just a passport) and have been living in Honolulu for 4 yrs now. Which is why I only ever post in the afternoon and night time for most of you, as I'm ten hours behind. Right, off to sleep now!

redwellybluewelly · 16/01/2013 09:16

DD (DC1) started kicking at 18 weeks and didn't stop until the day I went into delivery due to lack of movements.

This one - 19+2 and have felt a few movements but certainly not daily.

curlyclaz13 · 16/01/2013 09:20

Still not feeling pregnant, no movements and not much of a bump. Scan is tomorrow and I am really worried it is bad news, barley slept last night and have cried every day since Saturday form various things to the point OH is getting annoyed as I am stressing myself out and it 'is not good for the baby' well tell my hormones that ! (possibly the only thing that is 'pregnant feeling' about me)

Olimoss · 16/01/2013 11:29

Thank you everyone for your kind words, it's taking a while to get head around the fact the baby isn't an 'it' anymore, but is a 'he'.....now keen to hear what the deal is for the rest of you!

grainmum · 16/01/2013 11:47

Hi everyone, hang in there until the 20 week scans! I had mine yesterday and it was lovely - took 20-25 minutes and sonographer checked all the bits of the baby really thoroughly, could see it nudging me with its hands and legs so I think DH really believes that it is proper movements now!

So, onto the shopping list. Today's task has been to have a look at cots/nursery furniture on-line. DH is working long days over the weekend so I think I might take the opportunity to go and at least look at where the decent shops are. Anybody got any good suggestions - Glasgow area?

DontmindifIdo · 16/01/2013 11:49

Well, DS has chicken pox, apparently as I've had it as a child it's low risk I'll get it and then even if I do, low risk the baby will catch it.

So worrying! It's amazing how I genuninely don't care about my own health only that of DS and bump....

Hi grainmum! Try the glasgow pram centre in the east end, and John Lewis and Mamas and Papas have sales on just now - picked up a couple of bargains! I'm in glasgow too - scan next week at the southern!

Thanks for all the hugs - think my worry is just because baby has been very active (I felt flutters really early) and it now feels less, when it's probably just different and nothing is regular yet. Still tuning in to the different feelings!

suzyrut · 16/01/2013 13:57

Hey ladies, am a worrier here too, have taken today off because of spotting (5th episode now) and even though I'm sure there's no problem (baby kicking around) and been to the hospital the last few times where they've reassured me I can't stop worrying about it!

I know everyone's diferent but if it's any consolation I was feeling flutters from about 14 to 16 weeks then had a very quiet period upto half way through week 19 didn't feel anything some days. I think it can depend on where your placenta is and the a big growth sput up to 20 weeks too. I also feel less "pregnant" as in the hormones seem to have finally calmed down a bit.

I read everywhere this is the bit we're supposed to be enjoying!!!! xx

forgetmenots · 16/01/2013 14:16

Suzy, thanks so much for taking the time away from your own worries to post that, I find that really reassuring. Thanks

You're doing the right thing resting up - lovely that baby is letting you know all is well! :)

SunnyL · 16/01/2013 15:10

I've barely felt babs moving all week (until today). I've not been worried since its such early days and had the midwife appointment on Friday who said not to start expecting regular movements until 24 weeks.

What I can suggest is try wearing tighter jeans. I've been getting poked and kicked all day whereas on previous days when wearing floaty dresses have barely felt a thing. Its either that or babs likes listening to Radio 2....

learnermummy · 16/01/2013 16:29

I'm 18 weeks now and do notice movements now and then but am usually too busy to notice. Am definitely finding that third time around I'm a bit less focussed on it! Anyone else feel like this?

MrsBri · 16/01/2013 18:02

Sunny, that's what elicited my first kicks...think baby was pissed off with the waistband of my jeans, as that's where 'he' kicked me!

This afternoon has been all about nudges and tickling me. Either there's a full head of hair or baby has learned how to be an expert at tickling!

pinkapples · 16/01/2013 19:42

Evening ladies still not sure what I'm feeling from the inside when you feel it where is it? Right in the middle or sides or where? I'm not sure really feels like flutters but I'm not sure really what I'm looking for kinda feels like bubbles too so not a clue Grin

AlohaMama · 16/01/2013 20:02

pinkapples for me, I would describe it more as bubbles. It's kind of mid-way between my belly button and pelvis but towards the front (so forward of where you would expect gas, and below level of your stomach). Just a little internal feeling that doesn't feel quite like anything else. It's tricky though as if you're busy or moving around doing stuff you probably wouldn't notice. I only notice if I happen to be standing still.

AmIGoingMad · 16/01/2013 20:20

Dontmind- I hope your DS feels better soon. It's so worrying isn't it? Like you say- you don't care about your health so much as the little one you have and the one you're carrying.

Suzy- that's stressful for you but lovely that little one is reassuring you in the way that only they can!

Well I'm 17+1 today and am still unsure if its baby movements I can feel or the ridiculous amount of wind I seem to have now (tmi sorry!) I have however felt sick all day today which is the first time in weeks- really hope that's not making a comeback!!!

bunglecat77 · 16/01/2013 20:34

Hello

I'm a bit late to this thread by the looks of things. But hello anyway - I'm due 22 June (so I think that's 17 + 3 at the moment) and it's my first time.

I wanted to ask if anyone can give any advice on bump bands - do they help support the bump, or just to keep it warm/make sure your clothes meet in the middle?

redwellybluewelly · 16/01/2013 21:13

There are various types of bump bands, last time I had the 'cover my middle' and very useful for breastfeeding as well as you could hoike your top up and no one could see the flabby bit

This time I'm going to get some more supportive ones as I am struggling with uterine pain, lifting toddler and walking miles on site most weeks.

BumbleBee2011 · 16/01/2013 21:56

Learnermummy - I'm finding myself not as focused this time as with DD. I sometimes go through moments where I have to remind myself that pregnancy = baby...and that's in spite of the fact I can feel a fair amount of wriggling when I sit still.

I'm going to put the scan photo on my work desk tomorrow, will probably be accused of being cheesy but I think it'll help to process everything a bit more.

learnermummy · 16/01/2013 22:33

Thanks bumble that's a nice idea, think I'll put my scan pic on my desk tomorrow too Smile. Looking forward to scan to help make it all real!

ChicaT · 17/01/2013 00:46

Hi everyone, I've started to feel kicks and loving it! Been feeling wriggles for a good month now (I'm 18 weeks) which just felt odd, but kicks are something else. They tickle and make me giggle every time! Loving it. Haven't been feeling great so far so v happy pregnancy is finally making me smile! Hope others are enjoying the same...

Littlemissexpecting · 17/01/2013 09:26

Hi everyone

Littlemissexpecting · 17/01/2013 09:29

Sorry put my phone down and it sent!!
Just checking in as been busy last couple of days. Very jealous of all those feeling movements, but I'm not really sure what I should be feeling. I am getting lots of aches in my lower back and hips though, and bump and boobs growing again!
Hope everyone has a good day Smile
