new June thread - we've been chatting too much!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
redwellybluewelly · 10/01/2013 10:29

AmI - yes - sleep (and caffeine) but most of our issues are due to DD not sleeping so we all wake up all night long. DH reckons he is ill as well (a very minor sniffle) and so he is being miserable and grumpy.

Sunny - cycling is weird when pg I agree! I've now reached the point where I can't cross my legs, this baby seems to be sitting very low, much lower than DD did.

Sarah2506 · 10/01/2013 10:31

Sunny - How far did you cycle? I used to cycle the whole way to work - 12 miles - but in the winter I train to Kings X and then Boris Bike to work from there - 2.5 miles. I am forever being told off by people for even doing that, though these are the same people who tell me off for going to the gym, or running, or lifting anything. When people see me cycling with my Baby on Board badge they give me odd looks. Is it that strange? I was planning on cycling for a bit longer, until I decide I don't want to rather than let others decide for me!

Littlemissexpecting · 10/01/2013 10:51

Sarah- cycling, gym, running! Where do you get the energy?! Granted the sickness isn't helping me but I can't seem to get off the sofa at the minute I have zero energy

SunnyL · 10/01/2013 11:04

I used to cycle 9 miles which in Edinburgh was practically all uphill. I've moved recently so my cycle is now a very sedate 2 miles and most of the time I walk it since I feel I get more fitness benefit from walking than from cycling.

I've been told I should stop cycling at 6 months since your centre of gravity changes and there is more chance of you falling off. Still allowed to use the bikes at the gym though after that.

So far no one has had a go at me for cycling but now my route is very rural and very safe. I think if I was still doing my old route which was right through the centre of the city I'd probably have had a lot of telling off by now.

Incidentally my zumba instructor had kittens on Tues night when i told her I was pregnant as She's not had any training in what to do with pregnant ladies. She calmed down immensely though when I said I was 19 weeks and the midwife said it was fine.

AmIGoingMad · 10/01/2013 11:16

You exercising ladies are putting me to shame! It's something I really want to get bk into but as I haven't been great at exercising consistently since DS I'm not sure where to start safely. We do go on nice long walks- when the weathers a bit better than this! I have a davina pregnancy DVD from last time and some antenatal yoga ones- which I didn't use! Will also look into if there are any antenatal classes around locally although last time there was nothing around here grrr!

learnermummy · 10/01/2013 13:05

I'm struggling with the exercise thing too. Have a couple of dvds here, but can't find any class particularly local to me. Would love to do yoga as it was great last pregnancy, but again nothing local here Sad.

olimoss · 10/01/2013 13:13

Survived first session back at the gym with my trainer. I can't believe it's me saying this, but I actually kind of enjoyed it....I don't know myself anymore! But it was definitely different kind of stuff than we did before I got pregnant, he's getting me to do lots of arm, back and hips stuff to strengthen for when it arrives, all the lifting, etc.

Swimming's next!

Obv I've just eaten a huge lunch to make up for all the effort.

monal · 10/01/2013 15:17

I really feel like going swimming but the way I'm feeling right now I'm afraid I'll bob around like a beach ball Grin

learnermummy · 10/01/2013 15:56

My midwife told me no breaststroke if I go swimming (breaststroke legs are not good for preganancy apparently) and that kind of puts me off going. Don't have the energy for other strokes although suppose could use a float!

Littlemissexpecting · 10/01/2013 16:28

Could you do breast stroke arms but just kick your legs like front crawl?

learnermummy · 10/01/2013 17:00

Will have to try that, but might mess with my head Smile

ella0 · 10/01/2013 17:01

MrsBri, our midwife said that from 25 weeks you should feel movements 10 times a day. Before that, and they're not concerned.

ella0 · 10/01/2013 17:03

Also, I'm not feeling movement every day and I would be going insane if it weren't for the doppler we've got; it's very reassuring.

olimoss · 10/01/2013 17:34

Re: swimming (as an ex-semi-proper swimmer), just do breaststroke style but flip overnon your back, instead, as it'll support your spine better and you can v much reduce the kicking arc. Or do backstroke.

Or just do,freestyle, v good for your lung function!

Not butterfly. It's a killer.

MrsBri · 10/01/2013 18:05

Ah, ella, thank you...ages to go then til I have to be concerned! :-)

Didn't know that about swimming. Interesting. Breast is my favoured stroke (and DH's, fnar fnar!). May stick to the bouncing round at aquanatal.

My bump is trying to take over the world. I swear it increased at work today. And my lovely deep inny belly button is heading out :-(

I'll be utterly MAHOOSIVE very soon.

Have we got 20 week scans coming up soon? Very excited about people finding out the sex, even if I'm not!

forgetmenots · 10/01/2013 18:39

Me too (excited about those finding out the sex!) partly because I'm enjoying guessing and I want to hear all their symptoms so I can play along...!

curlyclaz13 · 10/01/2013 18:48

I thought I might try swimming but I can only do breaststroke so now I'm not sure.

redwellybluewelly · 10/01/2013 19:13

Ive got my 20week scan on the 23rd when we find out the sex. You guys will be the only ones to know as we'll keep the gender secret from everyone else. My money is on BOY!

I swam three times a week until 36weeks last time when I switched to aquanatal. Really desperate to swim but as soon as anyone I know sees me in a swimsuit the secret will be out!

dreamydays · 10/01/2013 19:36

I swam throughout my last pregnancy and mostly breaststroke - I had no idea it wasn't recommended. I was planning to do the same this time, as I reckon the exercise really helped me get through the birth etc.

Finally got my amnio results and all fine, so finally I can relax and start making plans! So relieved, v happy.

Sunbeam18 · 10/01/2013 20:05

Wonderful news, dreamy! I heard my babys heartbeat today! Best sound ever. It sounded like dogs barking! Think it was about 150bpm. So excited - we recorded it and I've been playing it back all evening!

pinkapples · 10/01/2013 20:27

My 20 week is on the 23rd too! So excited but also worried fingers crossed baby is still ok all I know is something's making me sick and sleep deprived and poor baby's not even here yet

Sams4lo · 10/01/2013 20:28

All this talk of exercise is making me want to have another chocolate bar lol really wish I could exercise but having no energy and spd starting makes it all a bit more challenging! And I keep telling myself looking after four little ones is enough exercise for now lol Wink
Got my 20 wk scan on Tuesday :)

pinkapples · 10/01/2013 21:50

Omg sams so jealous of your scan so soon!

I'm starting on Sunday aqua natal yoga (I didn't know it was yoga) Grin never done yoga before but will give it a go and let you know how it goes :-)

AmIGoingMad · 10/01/2013 22:15

That's brilliant news dreamy! Smile

And sunbeam that's fab! Smile I also love the idea of recording heartbeat- think i might steal that one!

MrsBri · 10/01/2013 22:26

Fantastic news Dreamy :-)

And I'm also jealous of scans so soon when mine is still about 3.5 weeks away. Boo!

I wanted to record the heartbeat, but was rushed onto the bed and didn't get a chance to grab my phone. Poor DH. :-(
