Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow I've missed loads!
Saw midwife this morning and heard hb which was amazing! I wasn't expecting to as not guaranteed at 17 wks and with anterior placenta but she found it very easily. Then DH and I have been to a pram shop seen as I've not been sick today hurrah! We have decided on iCandy peach. Just got to pick the car seat I was going to go for maxi cosi pebble but she showed us the Be safe iZi Go which looks good as has 5 point harness. Decisions decisions! Also went to M+Ps and think we have picked our cot, but its getting discontinued so we need to decide for sure and order if its the one we want!
Also picked up my bounty pack which has a good little booklet in called a product guide so going to read through that later so I know what I should be looking for in everything we need to buy!

redwellybluewelly · 09/01/2013 13:52

Lovely hearing the heartbeat isn't it? I'm debating getting a doppler.

everything we need to buy do beware that some things (like baby wipe warmers) are completely necessary. I loathe the Bounty packs, there is a petition at the moment to give the option of 'mama packs' which are a lot more interesting and less mainstream.

Also - has anyone got a baby monitor for two babies? We want to try and get a split screen one

Littlemissexpecting · 09/01/2013 14:05

I thought of a Doppler but not sure if it would make me more paranoid.
I gave bounty an email address I only use for junk!

pinkapples · 09/01/2013 14:41

Just missed my appointment for flu jab and been on hold for AGES trying to apologise and rebook if they can't be bothered to pick up the phone what am I meant to do!

I thought about a Doppler but what happens of you can't find the hb how anxious would you be? Majorly!

redwellybluewelly · 09/01/2013 14:56

that should of course read unnecessary

BumbleBee2011 · 09/01/2013 17:27

Hello, I'm a bit late to the party but would like to join please - due 23/06/13 with DC2.

Haven't read through all the thread yet - but littlemiss I have the iCandy peach and used the pebble for DD, can recommend both Smile

Saw the MW on Tuesday, she thinks my placenta is anterior, she had to go round the side to get the heartbeat!

I mentioned to her that I think I'm getting BH contractions already, she looked really surprised...I've looked online today though and it seems a lot of second time mums get them early...is anyone else? Or am I a weirdo?

Starting a yoga class tonight, looking forward to meeting other pg ladies in my area.

AmIGoingMad · 09/01/2013 17:47

Wow- one early night and look what I miss!!!
Congratulations on heartbeat hearing! Bet it was such a lovely experience!

Re prams- we have the icandy apple and I love it! The wheel base is large but I could get it in my fiesta boot- had to take one rear wheel off but that's incredibly easy to do. One problem is that we have had to replace the inner tube on one tyre once but that was after over a yr and lots of countryside walking.

Dontmind- that's a very good plan with nnurseries! We've been lucky this time with family care but haven't had discussion if that will be possible next time around.

As for being induced- I was just before due date last time due to medical reasons. It was intense and frustrating not to be able to move around but then I couldn't have after epidural anyway ( have heard of walking epidural but wasn't available here- anyone else had it?). It was a tough labour but then as it was before due date I'm convinced that DS wasn't ready to come out anyway! Feel like this time around I don't really know what to expect about onset of labour just like last time as it didn't happen naturally. That said I'm also going to be talking to consultant about elcs too so we'll see. It's probably different for everyone I'd imagine?

Also- do you think that the fact I've been off work with anxiety etc will actually go in my favour if I do decide I want a cs? It was a rubbish time so if I could get some benefit from it that would be nice!

Well done those of you exercising- I must do something soon!!!

Also- posted in pregnancy last night about being massively thirsty in the nights before going to bed. Any of you having this?

Littlemissexpecting · 09/01/2013 17:47

Congrats Bumblebee!
Thank you for recommendation that's good to know. Enjoy your yoga class, I'm still looking for something in my area for when the sickness stops

AmIGoingMad · 09/01/2013 17:48

Welcome bumble bee! Smile

MrsBri · 09/01/2013 17:58

Hi Bumblebee :-)

AmI, I'd have thought the anxiety would play a part in their decision. When are you seeing the MW next?

In relation to dates, I'd rather keep the earlier one, else I should probably work an extra week and I don't really want to!

Induction doesn't sound horrendous. I'll see what date the next scan gives me and go from there, I think.

First aquanatal class tonight. Should be interesting. Will be good to meet other preggos from my area! :-)

Mawgatron · 09/01/2013 19:05

I'm quite up for getting a Quinny but DH likes the look of the m and p urbo- anyone had any experience of these?

Hadn't have even thought about nurseries yet, taking a year off but didn't realise that I should be looking now! Should I be panicking?

dreamydays · 09/01/2013 19:09

Hi Bumblebee. i also think I've been having BH contractions and have been worrying trying not to worry about it. I am 19 weeks today but have been having them for a bit. I'm due to have my 20 week scan next Fri so will ask about it then. Reassuring to hear I'm not the only one! I'm also getting lots of kicks which is reassuring.

Would like to start yoga, found a class starting on Sat, but I still don't have my amnio results (after 3 weeks!) and am putting off any commitments til I do...

Hawkmoth · 09/01/2013 21:08

I've been having BH as well, stronger than with the first two. Grr. Bloody irritating.

Done a bad thing and stole a comfy chair from one of the directors. Bless him, he never said anything today. I will put it back next time he comes in. Thankfully only one day a week and my back is crippling me! Had a lot of problems with SPD and SI joints previously. So far nowhere near as bad but the last couple of days they've started, and I'm worrying so the stress probably makes it worse. I can't face months off work resting, it would do me in as I love my job, going to dig out my girdle...

Sunbeam18 · 09/01/2013 22:08

AmI, I'm with you on the thirst, especially after a bath. Extreme thirst was my first pregnancy symptom and it's never stopped. Think it's normal as we are producing so much more blood in our bodies when pregnant.

Got my midwife appt tmrw and should be able to hear heartbeat! Did anyone take their partner with them to this appt? Mine would love to hear the baby's heart.

Littlemissexpecting · 09/01/2013 22:16

Sunbeam DH came with me so go for it. Good luck! Smile

MoottonBun · 09/01/2013 23:33

Just saying hi to mark my place on this thread. Am glad yoga's been mentioned, has just reminded me I must look into it locally.

pinkapples · 10/01/2013 00:19

Waking up 3 hours after going to bed to be sick is so not funny!

MrsBri · 10/01/2013 07:31

Poor you, pinkapples :-/

I was surprised by being sick while brushing my teeth today. Thought I was over that.

Baby didn't make 'himself' as known yesterday...when are we meant to feel movement every day?

Littlemissexpecting · 10/01/2013 07:48

Woke up to DH resting his hands on my little bump so cute!!
He said I had both my hands on it all night he couldn't get near!
DH is defiantly showing more interest since hearing hb yesterday, he even came home and put the due date on the calendar. I haven't had the heart to tell him the chance of it happening on 19th is very slim bit we never know!

forgetmenots · 10/01/2013 08:02

Keen to know that too mrsbri, some days there's fluttering, there have been a few days with jabs and some days almost nothing - consoling myself at the moment that I hadn't expected to feel movement at all by now. A wee flutter every day would be nice!

Also got a dead thigh so I'm wondering if baby is lying on some nerves. Finding sleep really difficult.

redwellybluewelly · 10/01/2013 08:59

I went to bed at 7.30pm last night after settling DD in, woke up at 12.30 when DH came to bed then fell asleep till 5 when DD woke up - then gazed at the ceiling while she babbled on about something, then we both fell asleep together until 7. And my word I feel better for it this morning.

I have had some days with movement and some days without - none yesterday until cooking dinner and when my DH got home and said hello to me there was a massive kick inside. DD used to do that too.

Littlemissexpecting · 10/01/2013 09:31

MrsBri I have also been sick while brushing my teeth this morning Hmm wasn't sick yesterday so thought it was stopping!

AmIGoingMad · 10/01/2013 09:54

Sunbeam- enjoy hearing heartbeat today!
Pinkapples- poor you! Sounds like you've had very little let up. Hugs!
I'm with you on the teeth cleaning thing- it's hard work isn't it?! I must admit that the second I start wretching I stop and just use mouth wash. My teeth are being cleaned but probably not to my usual standard. Mouthwash is my friend at the moment! Smile

AmIGoingMad · 10/01/2013 09:58

Good to hear you had a good sleep redwelly. It really makes a difference doesn't it. It's my day off today and DH got up with DS so that I could have a mini lie in til he started work as he's working from home today. He is such a star!!!

SunnyL · 10/01/2013 10:12

Cycled to work today for the first time in ages. Cycling when pregnant is weird - FACT! Could feel my bump moving around as my legs went up and down. Wonder what babs thought?

19 weeks today and still don't think I've felt any movement. MW appt tomorrow though so hopefully I'll hear the heartbeat like so many of you have.
