Places it's so funny you should link to that because that very show was on Comedy Central last night. My DH and I had been chatting about courses all evening and looking into them, wondering if we should go. I put my laptop away, flick through channels and switched on to exactly this bit of Dara's show. So, so funny. Not sure he's convinced me that I should sign up for them!

Kitty that's kind of how we feel about them, like we should go because it's what our friends have done. Thing is, a lot of them seem to spend time talking about the different birth choices (hospital, home, birthing centre etc.) and since that decision's already made, I feel like at least some of it will be a waste of time and money. Leaning towards skipping them (today at any rate) and just sticking with the NHS ones - especially since DH works for himself and can come to them if he wants to.

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2013 10:02

I dont feel I missed out by not doing them lor, I think if your in a new area and really don't know anyone I'd consider it but at the same time why are you more likely to meet someone you really like at that one as opposed to the free one?! Plus if you go to baby groups and that when dc is born you meet alot there aswell

bringonthetrumpets · 09/01/2013 10:34

Hahah Places that was awesome! I love him.

Lorelei353 · 09/01/2013 10:39

That's what I though Kitty. I'm not new to the area, although I don't really know anyone who lives locally, but the women in my pregnancy yoga class seem lovely too (as well as the possibility of NHS and baby groups as you say).

Thanks for your view.

Lorelei353 · 09/01/2013 10:41

As a total aside, I used to know Dara O'Briain - he went out with one of my best friends for years (we all went to the same university in Dublin, although they were two/three years ahead of me). He wasn't exactly famous back then but was doing stand-up in Ireland and was a presenter on children's TV as well as an Irish political/comedy panel show.

Just had 20wk scan, all well baby a real wriggler ended up turning from left to right just during scan!
Scanner said girl aswell but definatly didn't say it with the same conviction as sexing scan, id be worried saying it if I hadn't had the first one as as soon as she said well I can't see any boy bits so it looks like a girl she jumped in with but we never say 100%!!
The sexing scan lady was very sure though an even to my untrained eye today's bits were very girly with the 3 lines Grin

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 09/01/2013 15:50

Yay kitty glad it went well, lovely wriggly girl. Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 09/01/2013 15:58

Yay! Congrats on the baby girl news, kitty!

Lorelei353 · 09/01/2013 16:10

Nice one kitty great news on girl but even greater news on healthy and well little wriggler.

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2013 16:33

Yes very released all well and finally got downs results of 1:8100 so again good, I'm so much more paranoid this time round
Can't wait to hear your scan news tomorrow frus and is it lib aswell?

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 09/01/2013 18:37

That's really good odds kitty mine are 1:1949 and I thought they were good.

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2013 19:52

They are frus, I think anything over 1000 makes you feel better, mine was 1:27000 last time though!! I don't understand how it works. Are you nervous? Excited about finding out what your having?

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 09/01/2013 20:23

They didnt do the bloods part 4 years ago. don't know when they started that

kitty how were you feeling this time yesterday? I feel so paranoid and nervous.

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2013 20:38

Nervous and paranoid frus!! Lol
I didn't sleep well even though I was trying not to think about it at all, I knew bubs was ok in the sence she was squirming away all night and morning but was so silent all scan as feared they would find a problem, I'm still not what you'd say relieved I.e ahh that's it now, I think I've seen to many threads on here about still birth etc and I just can't believe my luck that I've got a beautiful healthy little girl and I seem to be getting another?! Does that make sence

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 09/01/2013 20:49

Yeah that makes perfect sense kitty I'm glad the paranoia isn't just me. in the nicest possible way alot of the things I worry about for this baby can't be picked up in a scan, so in a way the scan won't bring relief in that sense, but will be nice when we know we won't have to worry about anomalies that can be picked up.

I don't remember being this nervous previously.

kittykatsforever · 09/01/2013 21:28

I don't either or have I just blanked it out?!?!

bringonthetrumpets · 09/01/2013 23:37

I'm nervous about having a scan as well. I feel like I know way too much!

Just try to keep yourselves in your peace bubbles and read lovely things about healthy pregnancies, beautiful births, and healthy babies. There's no reason for the extra stress, ya know?

Lorelei353 · 09/01/2013 23:59

Nice thoughts blending.

I've been to another yoga class full of happy women with healthy bumps. And in the last 48 hours a close friend has had her little boy and my cousin had her little boy - after an almost heart breaking number of years trying for one. Feeling all the positivity right now. Smile

Lorelei353 · 10/01/2013 00:00

Sorry I meant bring not blending

Lorelei353 · 10/01/2013 09:45

Good luck today to the scan ladies! Can't wait to hear the news. x

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 10/01/2013 10:02

Thanks lorelei I'm not even slightly nervous. who am I kidding

Blending · 10/01/2013 11:32

What a lovely scan Kitty.

Good luck to all the other scan ladies.

As for me, all nice and quiet, nothing pregnancy related to report.

Thats exactly how I like it!

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 10/01/2013 13:40

Wriggly squished in healthy little boy

Blending · 10/01/2013 13:57

Congratulations Frus! I do love a wriggly scan!

FrustratedSycamoreIsNesting · 10/01/2013 14:03

. He was squishing himself in nice and tightly by the placenta on one side, and kicking his legs in the huge gap at the other. Little bum right up by my belly button. And even sucking his thumb at one point.
