Welcome aboard, for the trip that will take us into the 2nd trimester and beyond, Make yourself comfy as we head towards maternity clothes, new bras, blooming, bumps, scans, and fading ms. Full of chatting, moaning tmi and mutual support.

Hello Ali welcome to our bus! Glad you finally said hello. I get nervous when people say they've been hiding as some most of our conversations our nuts Hmm

Hello all! Hurrah for more join talk :-)

Hi Ali!

I'm feeling a bit better, but am still dehydrated as only sipping water, so not catching up.

I really hate the fact that EVERYTHING tastes just horrid.

I'm impressed with the one test, Lorelei, well done!!

Yay for having your tooth filed down, Peardrop :-)

Sorry if I missed anyone.

Lor Really? Only one test? Wow you saved money! I think I did 4/5 the day I found out and then another two cheapies later just for good measure

Jojoba1986 · 13/11/2012 13:44

I still have 13 days to go before my scan! Hmph.

I only did one test too because it came up as such a definite positive very quickly. I took it a few days before AF was due & was excited about getting a faint line & doing another one after a few days & getting a stronger line. I now have a frer that I don't know what to do with! I won't be needing it for at least 4 years now, if at all, by which point it'll be out of date!

My arm hurts. Stupid jab. My boobs hurt. Stupid bra. My baby's awake but I'm being too lazy to go feed him. He'll shout if he gets hungry! Wink I'm feeling really sleepy all of a sudden! I suppose I'd best get off my backside & feed him before I actually fall asleep & become so comatose that I don't hear him shouting for food! It's a hard life!

JoJo how old is your DC?

Lorelei353 · 13/11/2012 13:48

I can't believe I only did the one test. I have another one in the cupboard (bought a 2-pack of CB digis).

I think it was because I was a week late, on holiday in Spain, so as soon as we arrived back in the country I did it and it already said 2-3 weeks pregnant so it was pretty decisive. And we took a picture for evidence. Also, we had been up at 3 for a long drive in the dark and then flight back to London, with a traumatic landing and train problems when we landed. We were exhausted, so to then got a positive was pretty emotionally overwhelming. One was enough!

jojo I have 15 days until my scan!

Oh, and how rude of me, welcome aboard Ali. It's a small and cosy bus. I abandoned the June thread because there were too many people and I couldn't keep up! Small and perfectly formed group here.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everybody.

I did 3 tests - the first (Superdrug - am convinced they are lucky) when my period was two days late, it was +ve but I didn't tell DH just in case it was a broken one... I did another the next morning, it was still faint but def there. I told DH while we were having our Sunday morning lie in but said that it was very faint and he replied that we must only be having a very little baby then.

I then treated myself to a CB Digi and it was lovely to see 'Pregnant' actually written down, but now the battery has gone out and I can't see it anymore!

I keep meaning to do another test as I'm fairly convinced that the scan people are going to tell me that it's all just Pie.

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 13/11/2012 14:59

Ah yes ali that's what I don't like about the cb digital ones. I had to do another frer because the battery ran out and I has to had more proof that I could keep checking

Grin at having a little baby.

Welcome, welcome Ali! We are a cozy bus :)

Wow, so sorry to hear about the extreme MS Mrs! Reassuring, but definitely not fun. Maybe some juice to help balance your blood sugars? It's been my saving grace!

Glad you don't have to get your wisdom teeth out pear! Just thinking of sanding teeth down, that still couldn't have been pleasant....

Thanks for the support, ladies. I was just moaning last night while trying to get some documents finished. They are a pain in the a** and take a really long time. Risks are incredibly slim that what I'm studying can happen. It's things I've of course heard about, but getting the gritty details of how and why they happen can make anyone a hypochondriac! Contemplating on just taking a break from school until the baby is here. I'm worried that I'll be analysing everything about my own labor and it won't progress because I can't get out of my head! I'm thinking a chat with my midwife is on the horizon.....

A break sounds like a good idea trumpets. I just haven't read any of the bad sections of my pregnancy book. I've never been pregnant before at all, so am hoping I can just sail through and the more I know the more I'll stress. If I just act as if my body is just doing what it's supposed to then I can relax.

bringonthetrumpets · 13/11/2012 17:29

Sounds like a good plan, Lor!

A break might be good trumpets, I studied when I was pg with dd2, and I can't remember a thing from that year of study. But the fog got me pretty bad. I'm dreading it this time, as my memory used to be really good before DCs.

I agree that a break could be good trumpets. I don't think I could study anything that close to home right now.

I have eaten constantly ALL day today. Very bad girl, but staved off further sickness, so all good.

Hideously tired now, however. Early night ahead.

Report
peardrop2 · 13/11/2012 18:00

trumpets sanding didn't hurt at all. I did ask if it would hurt and he said probably not. Hate the way they can't say Yes or No! I was more worried about my tongue getting in the way! In theory a break does sound good but a chat with your midwife head will also probably help you get through any anxiety issues?!

Nicola better to eat then be sick :-)

Frus and everyone else with children...out of interest what are the age gaps between your children and baby?

Report
MrsBri · 13/11/2012 18:04

Maybe, Peardrop. :-) I'll just get fat!!

We've already discussed number 2...I was a bit disappointed to only have 1 this time as I now have to do this again!

I think we will be trying again by the end of next year due to my age. What gap do you want, Peardrop?

Report
peardrop2 · 13/11/2012 19:04

I don't think I want a big age gap. Mainly think that now because with the way things are I doubt I'll be going back to work straight away. My friend is about to drop and she will have a 22mth gap between her DC1girl and DC2boy. I will be interested to see how that works. I guess you can only tell how you will feel after you have DC1.

For anyone interested I've just put my 12 week scan pics up. MrsBri I'm very intrigued by the shapes in your womb!

bringonthetrumpets · 13/11/2012 19:08

However odd this sounds, I was just talking about the taste of ground up tooth Confused! Yuckola.

It's great that you're eating Mrs! I've read that morning sickness happens because your metabolism and need for more nutrients and calories increases so much more quickly than your body can keep up with, which leads to an increase in stomach acid-which makes you feel sick. Eat, eat, eat!

My boys are 18 months and 2 days apart, then there will be a 3 year and 2 month gap between my youngest and this baby.

It's tough to decide on whether to break or not....I don't know what I'll do with myself from Jan-this baby's birth. I'm a SAHM who is no longer apprenticing with a midwife at the moment, with two boys in preschool 3 days a week, and then taking a break from school- I'll have to learn how to sew to pass the time or something!

Ooh scan pics, very photogenic bean there pear. Grin,
I have 2.5 years between dds, (which is quite a nice gap) and there will be a 5yr gap between bean and the youngest.
