kitty yeah I did opks for the first time in my life this cycle, mostly to find out if I was mended yet. I forgot to do it on the Sat ok I'd lost faith but on the sun had a positive so hopefully that means I OVd and didn't just had a random surge. That will be two weeks ago on Sun...

Hang on in there thund Sunday might be a tad too early.
Very rare indeed. Already been out with the mutt twice. He loves it. Worse now than at 6am. Girls been out too. I feel like I've been up for hours, oh wait, I have, DH woke me at 4 to tell me it had snowed, and I couldn't get back to sleep he's bloody worse than the kids.

Yeah I guess you're right, frus, last time I had a mega strong +I've on FRER on day 29 and cbdigi said 2-3 the next day. But last time doesn't mean anything now I think. I am fine either way I think, just want to know! Not good at patience!

My OH was the same with the snow, kept jumping out of bed to check- 4am, 6am....

Lots of snow here too!

Thanks for not disowning me! I said that I would dress DD in what ever colour I wanted to, and not being a particularly girly girl myself I assumed that I would get lots of neutral colours etc....looking at her wardrobe now the predominant theme is pink, sparkly and girly!

I think something in my hormones kicked in and 2 years later I never recovered!

I have been off for 2 weeks (Irritable Uterus- causes contractions, but my cervix is nice and closed) supoposedly on bed rest. I have to go back to work on Monday, my GP said to ring if I didn't feel like going back and he would do a note without seeing me again, bit I've only one week sick pay left until April so I want to save that for a real emergency.

Being a lazy Mama and have got Mickey Mouse on, whilst I snuggle on the couch.

blending my 2 aren't very girly. We have lots of stripes and blues and reds. And not a sign of a princess. And no skirts.

Oh blending how do you feel in yourself? How did you know you had an irritable uterus?? Bed rest sounds so nice to me right now but I know it must be really frustrating!
I'm a mix with dd alot of pink but lots of gray etc too, gota love abit of sparkle though!!
Thunder 2weeks, you have more will power then me, I'm a 10dpo girl myself Wink
Managed to make it home but don't get relaxing afternoon as nursery phones to pick up dd, she's driving me round the bend, it's like she's been starved for a week and she's pulling every food item out of cupboards she can find with choc choc bib bics repeated over and over!!

I don't feel too good. I'm really breathless & dizzy if I try to stand up & it feels kinda like my stomach is much heavier than usual. Confused It might just be DS2 having a growth spurt & stretching everything. I'm hoping to get out for a little walk round the corner in a few minutes to introduce DS1 to the snow! Hopefully a little gentle exercise & some fresh air will help.

Blending What's an irritable uterus? I've never heard of that before! Hope you're ok!

I had it with DD previously, but from about 28 weeks onwards. With this preganacy I didnt panic, but it was only 16 weeks in so got it checked out at the hospital where they diagnosed it. My cervix is nicely closed, long and firm, so as long as it just the contractions theres nothing to worry about.

I only work 3 days, so work have just agreed today I can use my remaining holidays to just do 4 hour days for the next 4 weeks, so that will help keep my stress levels down.

I feel like a drama queen. Lots of women have babies. Its not a disease. However, this is me and I shouldn't compare what I'm going through to whats "Normal" as it will drive me over the edge!

Sounds like everything is being pushed up due to a growth spurt Jojo.

I get contractions, which can double me over, feels very much like when you are in labour. They happen at random times, vary in length from a minute up to 5 minutes (for me). Once they are over I am very much fine! They have no idea what causes it, just that stress can make it worse, all they can offer is monitoring and pain killers, but as they are so short no point in taking them as by time they work, its passed andit could be hours and hours before they next one.

Thunder we made it to the post office today but it was shut! Will try again tomorrow! DH says it's run by an elderly couple so I assume they decided against braving the snow!

Just after I'd more-or-less convinced DH that it'll be fine to drive around midday tomorrow, his brother rang. Having had a bit of training in such things I suspect my BIL has undiagnosed high-functioning autism or aspergers. He's currently recounting every snow/ice based incident he's ever seen & repeatedly going over all the guidance on how to drive in poor conditions. DH generally agrees with anything his DB says so I'm anticipating a "DB says..." type conversation when he gets off the phone which will result in DH trying to convince me that we should barricade ourselves indoors until August. Hmm

Sorry about your cancelled weekend and not feeling good- any better now?

blending good you are looking after yourself.

going to go and get a hpt from the shop tomorrow I think, shhhhh

Yes, all better since I went to the loo! Blush We had great fun in the snow! I don't like just going for a walk - I feel silly. It was nice to have a reason to get out! DS walked all the way to the post office & the shop to get a tin of soup for our elderly neighbour! It's the longest he's ever walked for outside but he thought it was brilliant! Grin

Since they got off the phone DBIL has text DH 5 times about tyre pressure for icy conditions! We now know exactly what pressure would be best & where along the route we should stop to adjust them - it needs to be normal for the m-way... He can be v useful at times but v draining when he gets it into his head that we need to know everything known to man about a particular topic! My niece has diagnosed aspergers & is v similar but less intense. She's like a human sat nav though - she came to stay with us when she was about 4 & again at least 6 months later & she was pointing out the way to 'the jungle' (zoo). I didn't believe her until DH confirmed it! The way her brain works is amazing! Grin Must remember she's my niece, not a research project! Blush

I'm sure we'll venture into other colors once my initial "YAY IT'S A GIRL!" reaction wears off. There are so many cute little girl clothes! Very excited for all of the shopping that lies ahead. Just to say, there are many sweet and adorable baby boy clothes as well. I've saved some of my favorites from the boys.

I have an irritable uterus as well, blending. I'm already getting strong braxton-hicks contractions if I've had a busy day on my feet, if I'm hungry, if I'm tired.... it can get really annoying. It just tends to get worse the bigger I get- and it's happend with the other two pregnancies as well. Of course you don't have to go by what's normal to everyone else! If you're feeling worried about something, you have every right to feel comfortable and at ease with asking questions and seeking help. Even as a healthcare provider (in training) myself, I get freaked out about little things that I know most likely totally fine, but it's still nice to be able to ask my own midwife about it. Hopefully your lovely uterus will settle down a bit for you!

Thunder I'm so hoping this is it for you! Very very curious about what your result will be. Any ideas when you'll take the plunge and take a test?

Jojo do you work with people with ASD? It's one of the client groups I most enjoy working with!

And hurrah for frilly things. Want to maybe go to the shops this weekend and have a look around. BF is deep in revision stress though, so will have to find someone else to 'babysit' me. Also I have decided to make a quilt for baby! Very exciting. I am not letting the fact that I've never so much as sewn on a button deter me.

Jojobump1986 · 19/01/2013 00:43

No, I've got training in early years education & a big part of my course was learning to recognise potential signs of additional needs. ASDs was one of the areas I specifically chose to study but somehow I still didn't see it in my niece until it was suggested by her school senco when she was 7! As soon as I was told it was being considered it all kinda clicked into place! When she was about 2 she lined up some coloured tokens in colour groups & sat there for ages telling some of the tokens that they'd been naughty & so couldn't be with their 'friends' & rearranging them. It was all very matter-of-fact & the entire family just sat there staring at her. We always thought that she'd inherited her father's intelligence & ability to manipulate, coupled with her mother's self-centredness & lack of social skills. Now we think her mother probably has aspergers too! It's so fascinating & I love being able to use some of my training to help my family & find ways to support her! It's definitely one of the numerous things I'd have considered doing as a career if I was planning on having one! Deep down I've only ever wanted to be a SAHM but every now & then I get really excited about something like this & kinda wish I was more career minded!

Oh, forgot to say, I made a wall-hanging quilt for DS1 from a kit. I'd never done quilting before but DH's aunt is a pro-level quilter so helped me interpret some of the more complicated instructions. I'm going to make something for DS2 but haven't decided what yet - maybe a latch-hook rug! I don't have the faintest idea how to do it but I've decided that each child is going to be an opportunity to try a new crafting technique! Grin

No pro-level quilter in BF's family as far as I know, but I will figure it out. Found a pattern I like and have spoken to his mum as I want to use fabric from some of his baby clothes to make it more special.
