Yay I found my glasses! I can read without feeling sick! Grin

Jojobells1986 · 15/12/2012 23:26

Yay! Little triumphs! Wink

Lib, my cold's still going strong too. I woke up at 3am with ridiculously painful sinuses! I've completely given up trying to be brave & am sniffing Olbas Oil constantly & smothering myself in Vicks! I tried taking paracetamol earlier but after nearly puking after swallowing just half a tablet I gave up on that! I have discovered though that putting soluble paracetamol in orange squash disguises the foul taste & makes it quite nice! Smile

bringonthetrumpets · 16/12/2012 03:20

Congrats Frus! At least that is one way to alleviate the nausea :)

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 09:51

Hi ladies, how were everyone's weekends?! Where are pear and Nic? Theyve dissapeared for ages??

Lorelei353 · 17/12/2012 12:48

Hello. Had a lovely weekend. Was off down in Somerset with my in laws as we'll be in Ireland with my family this Christmas. Was lovely to see all his family in person, including his grandparents. It'll be their 5th great grandchild! (my sister in law has 4 kids already).

No sign of a proper bump yet. I was hoping to have a wee little bump going to Ireland. Still feels more like bloated fat belly than a bump really.

On the plus side I got my scan results back in the post. My age related risk was 1:264 (or something similar) but my actual result was 1:100000!

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 13:01

Wow lor that's an amazing result on the downs 1:100000!!! Never heard of one that high I don't think, mine last time was 1:27000, get to find out tomorrow at mw!
On other news I may have had a sneaky gender peek, just for the sales you understand Wink

Lorelei353 · 17/12/2012 13:10

Yeah, I was really surprised. At 36 I thought that alone would drag my stats down a bit. Very pleased. I had to google it to see if other people had got that result as I thought it was an error, but it seems to be possible!

Sneaky gender peek in time for the sales sounds sensible to me Xmas Grin

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 13:44

Your only a few years older then me lor, I'm 34 in jan! I've never looked at age results just gone by the numbers they provide, that's really good though, definatly something you don't need to worry about now! Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 17/12/2012 14:31

Oh! Oh! Now you have to tell us, Kitty!!

Weekend was good. Packing up for the ginormous trip (leaving on WEDNESDAY! Woo!) trying to stay organized and not get all frazzled. So much to do between now and the day after tomorrow.

Lorelei353 · 17/12/2012 17:13

Hey. I have my '16 week' midwife check up on 8th Jan (it'll be 18 weeks but Christmas got in the way). Do you get to hear the little one's heartbeat at this appointment? Just wondering if I should bring DH to it.

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 17/12/2012 17:57

lorelei down in Somerset sounds odd, it's up for me. Grin should get to hear heartbeat, DH was at my booking in, so they took the opportunity to ask the domestic abuse questions.

Oh and I just have to tell somebody that I have a new (preloved) car, from DH for Christmas.

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 18:34

It's a girl!!! GrinGrinGrin
Saves money on buying and dd gets a little sis ahhh
What's your new car frus? It's a big one isn't it Wink

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 17/12/2012 20:04

Yay for your girl kittens! (Saves a fortune on baby clothes)
Yup it's a bigun, it's a galaxy. Smile 7 seats to fit the brood in, and have the space so dd isnt next to anyone. and the fantastic news is that when dd gets her SN carseat that'll fit in too.
Unfortunately my enthusiasm wained a bit when I went to start it and had a flat battery. Now what idiot wires a radio direct to the battery instead of the ignition?

bringonthetrumpets · 17/12/2012 20:49

Congrats on a girl! So exciting! Our first official baby girl of the group.

The midwife should be checking for the heartbeat at the appointment, Lor. Bring DH, he'll be very excited to hear it!

Also great news on the new fancy car Frus.

I'm actually hoping that I get to buy new baby clothes this time! Pink ones Grin.

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 21:11

Ohhh fancy frus!! I know nothing about cars so I'd definatly be that kind of idiot Wink dh loves them enough for both of us and the rest!
Well fx bringon, when will you find out? Buying pink is lots of fun as there is so much!!
Me tomoz go me too, will try and work out if the hb rate old wives tale is true about girls and boys, also bring on If keep getting light headed when I stand up would that ve linked to blood pressure do you think?

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 17/12/2012 21:12

Aw trumpets I'm hoping to buy blue, but not getting my hopes up. Luckily have a few neutral pieces stored away. (And red and white early baby bits) I'm a sucker for bright baby clothes, so blues, greens, reds and oranges would make a change from, pinks, purples, yellows and stripy mixes.
Am slightly gutted that next scan is after the sales. May have to pick up some whites and browns just so I have something. Wink

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 17/12/2012 21:17

kittens that would be blood pressure, an completely normal for this stage of pregnant, as body is busy making (and carrying) extra blood and oxygen to the placenta. I'm also getting light headed.

As for being that idiot kitten It couldn't have been you as I would trust that you wouldn't pretend you knew what you were doing. As it appears the numpty who fitted the radio did. (Ps not me or DH as we are properly trained when it comes to cars).

Also not been sick today!!!

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 21:22

You are right frus, I don't pretend to know how to do anything so it wouldn't have been me!
Brilliant news about not being sick, really hope you've turned a corner with it, we're surposed to be blooming for goodness sakes!
Will be interested to see what blood pressure is then as mine is always low anyway, was once asked if I was an athlete by gp lol oh how I smugly smiled whilst replying well I do go running

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 21:25

Frus that's part of the reason I went for the gender scan, was thinking next sale!! Just incase for blue, still you could always but blue then and if pink return? Your scan would be within the 28 days after wouldn't it?!

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 17/12/2012 21:34

Grin I was thinking next sale too. (Doesn't it start on Boxing Day this year too) not that I go out in the middle of the night or anything (definately not done that the past 7 years) they do have white, and neutral too. Hmm, perhaps I could exchange...

(My bp and iron go up in pg,)

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 21:46

Yes boxing day!! I can't say I've done the middle of the night thing although have been around 8am I am the fool who finds out so early I have loads of buying opportunities Wink It it such a good deal for children's clothes though, really nice and when half price cheep as chips! I'd defo buy some stuff if you see anything you really like, they are really good at exchanges etc

bringonthetrumpets · 17/12/2012 22:07

We won't really get to do any shopping until this little one pops out. I'll have to stick to neutrals if I want to get some new baby clothes. Finding out is SO tempting though! DH wants to find out and I am trying my hardest to get past the 20 week scan and then it won't be tempting me again.

Guilty admission: I just ate a pack of skittles. Gulp! The High Fructose Corn Syrup! The GMOs! I've been so good at sticking to whole foods and staying away from sweets.... shhhhhhhh.....can't tell my midwives!

kittenskittenskittens · 17/12/2012 22:12

Bringon have you an inkling as to what it is? Is you pregnancy different? Have you done the general nub thing with your scan pic? I'm so to impatient to wait, I had half dds wardrobe before she was born even christening dress Blush I love a good bargin and also got some great things at car boots!
If I tell you the last week I have filled my body with crap will it make you feel better? I had a salad at luck and blueberrys for a snack then since I've been home I've had a pizza, bowl of frosted shreddies and pringles Blush the intention to be good is there but my will is weak Sad

bringonthetrumpets · 17/12/2012 23:04

Yeah Kitty, this pregnancy is very different than my other two! This was the first time I have actually experienced nausea. I hardly knew I was pregnant with my boys until they started moving around. I just keep feeling like this is another boy for some reason, despite the sickness. My midwives are SO SURE that this is a girl, as is my DH, friends, etc. We had a scan at 6 weeks to rule out an ectopic pregnancy and haven't had one since. The next one would be at 20 weeks and I'll just have to turn my head when we get to neither region portion of the scan.... so I haven't had anything to look at yet.

Haha, yeah. Makes me feel a bit better. Xmas Smile With heading over to your side of the pond again in 2 days, Christmas, New Year's and general family gatherings....bring on the food! I can't even tell you how much I miss jacket potatoes (they are so not the same over here, must be something in your pots...), fish and chips with mushy peas, ACTUAL curries, proper tea, Sunday roasts....

Jojobells1986 · 18/12/2012 01:46

Would it make you both feel better if I told you I'm surviving on cookies? Today I have eaten - 3 cookies, one packet of crisps, 3 hot chocolates & I managed to force down a boiled egg with toast for tea. Lots of vitamins in that! Hmm My sore throat/nausea combination means I can't even take vitamin tablets at the moment either. Sad

I can't believe how quickly the pregnancy seems to be progressing. I was told the midwife would call to arrange the 16 week appointment but suddenly realised a few days ago that they hadn't! I had to text DH to get him to call them because I'd completely lost my voice. He initially told me that I couldn't get an appointment at the normal clinic until after Christmas but he was going to call the midwives direct. Eventually he told me I had an appointment 'on the 18th'. I assumed he meant January. It's a good thing I wanted to look at my notes this evening to see if they'd noted where the placenta was or he wouldn't have mentioned that it's actually tomorrow! Confused I'm feeling really anxious about it now, not because I think there's anything wrong, just because I like to know about things well in advance & have problems with anxiety if things happen unexpectedly! Sad
