I'm beginning to get really fed up with all this illness now! Suddenly my ear hurts & feels really blocked. Like I've got water in it. I don't think I've ever had an ear infection in my life! Why is this all happening to me now?! I'm going to have to go to the doctor, aren't I? I can't imagine they're going to have any appointments available this close to Christmas. Any suggestions what I could do if I really can't get an appointment? Surely A&E is out of the question...! Would an ear infection clear up on its own eventually or does it really need attention? Sad

kittenskittenskittens · 18/12/2012 07:17

Oh Jojo Sad call your gp and abd explain how unwell you feel and that your pregnant so are aware there are lots of things you can't take etc, I'm sure they will fit you in, they have emergency appointments everyday, I do think you need to get sorted out as you don't want a miserable Xmas
The midwife might also be able to tell you the next course of action best so the app could be a blessing in disguise, I'm tomorrow aswell so virtual sending you hugs as we both get checked out, just think how hearing that little hb will cheer you up clutches at straws

kittenskittenskittens · 18/12/2012 07:19

Plus you will be loosing weight servicing on 3 cookies and a boiled egg! My calorie intake was enough for two people Sad

kittenskittenskittens · 18/12/2012 07:22

Bringon you are very strong to avoid finding out, I think thinking its a boy is one because that's all you know and 2 as a protection mechanism to stop any dissapointment, it's only natural, fx with your different symptoms you get that little girl, and yes british food is the best, you can't beat our curries! I remember how much I wanted one after travelling for a year, that was my first request! But all the rest aswell fish and Chips etc, ummmm I do love food!

Librarina · 18/12/2012 10:15

Morning everyone. It's been quiet here lately, everyone must be busy getting ready for Christmas (or feeling poorly - I've finally got rid of this cold, it's taken almost a week!)

Trumpets I didn't realise you were in the US, you might be missing British food, but I'm craving the Mac & Cheese that you can only get in a cardboard box over there... also a proper salt beef Reuben sandwich with pickles and Russian sauce.... and Brooklyn lager... and basically everything I ate on my last holiday to New York.

So there's one definate Girl on the thread.... yay, conrgats Kittens! I think I might be having a girl as I'm eating far more sweet stuff than usual (old wives tale I know) I don't really mind what I have, but half of me thinks boys are easier as I'm quite a stroppy girl myself.

I got my pram yesterday... get me Miss Organized! It has to stay at my Mums though until the baby comes, don't want to tempt fate.

Lorelei353 · 18/12/2012 11:24

Yay, one confirmed girl! Congrats Kittens. I don't know what I'm having. Am craving both sweet and salty food so no hints there. I don't feel strongly that it's one or the other and don't mind either way. I'd like to find out but DH really doesn't want to so I'll restrain myself.

Jojo your docs will find time to see you I'm sure. Definitely play the pregnancy card when you call them. Sounds like you're really struggling so should get help now as this time next week if you get worse, you won't be able to see anyone!

Jojobells1986 · 18/12/2012 15:08

Well, the appointment went ok. She didn't listen to the baby because she said it's sometimes tricky to find it & they're not allowed to refer for a scan just for that at this stage. She did check my pulse & decided it was a bit high. Not overly surprising given that I'm ill but it's also the main reason they kept me in hosp after DS was born. I think I just naturally have a fast heart! That, coupled with the fact that I sometimes feel palpitations, got me a 'it might be a good idea to get it checked with the doctor' so I'll tell them the midwife has sent me. Hopefully that'll get me an appointment this week! Smile

Lib Which pram did you get?

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 18/12/2012 20:22

The midwife told me it was tricky too, I told her since I could feel movements she might as well try as it wouldnt bother me if she could or couldn't hear it. It all depends on whether bubs is at the front/back/top/bottom.

bringonthetrumpets · 18/12/2012 22:16

Haha, yes the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (noni-cheese as the boys call it)is pretty addicting. I am REALLY missing British food, so roll on Thursday to proper tea and mince pies for my breakfast Grin.

I really hope you start feeling better Jojo! I hope there is something they can help you out with to start feeling on the up and up.

Excited I'm not the only one finding out Lor! I just got home from the midwives' appointment and we were talking about a study done to determine the sex of the baby and which side of the uterus the placenta is on. This study Apparently girls implant on the left and boys implant on the right. The midwives had a listen for the placenta with a fetoscope today and they think the placenta is right in the middle. Lol, so....not sure what that would make this baby..... Hmm.

Lorelei353 · 19/12/2012 11:22

Ha ha bring that's just typical.

So apparently today is the day my body has decided to have massive indigestion feeling right in the middle of my body - high up almost under my chest. Bleurgh. Great because tonight is DH's Christmas party - which involves 5 of us going out for a slap up meal. Feel too full of indigestion to eat anything at all.

Lorelei353 · 19/12/2012 13:47

Ooh, up to 50% off Asos at the moment and some of the maternity stuff is lovely, and quite reasonably priced to start with. I got a lovely dress from them about two weeks ago.

kittenskittenskittens · 19/12/2012 16:29

I got a couple of things off asos the other week too lor when there was 20% off, it's good value I think!
I'm jeleous of your fullness, I seem to be able to eat for everyone at the moment

bringonthetrumpets · 19/12/2012 17:01

Feeling so domesticated today! We don't leave until 10 tonight so trying to put the house in order, make some food so we're not eating airplane crap, and doing left over laundry. Exhausted and it's only 11. So much to still do. DH has been semi-helpful but he seems to just lay around and say I'm nagging him to get up and DO SOMETHING as I'm running my pregnant tail-end off all week! Looking forward to Friday when I can just sleep eat all day!

Jojobells1986 · 19/12/2012 18:57

Urgh. I felt great this morning! Now my sinuses hurt again & my ear is bugging me. Of course, DH has to have his work do tonight so has left me home alone with DS. He doesn't normally go to bed until 9... I suspect it'll be a bit early tonight! Pff. What kind of Christmas party starts at 6.30 & doesn't finish until 'maybe 10 or 11'?! Sad [grumpy]

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 19/12/2012 21:19

I'm all sore and achy, and sicky, and crampy although hoping its trapped wind
And I don't like rain or wind or mud, or the combination of all 3 when I fall over in the mud carrying dd like I did this morning. At least she thought it was funny and didnt get muddy, unfortunately my arse did. Sad
Have also had people commenting all day on how exhausted I look. Gee where's my pregnancy "bloom"? Humph.

Have a safe flight trumpets

Jojobells1986 · 19/12/2012 21:29

It'll come Frus... For a week or 2 before we all start feeling like whales! Wink I hate this weather too - I don't mind cold as long as it's the nice crisp, dry type. Can't be doing with wind & rain! Hope you manage to get a good rest tonight & wake up looking refreshed! It always seems really unnecessary when people comment that someone looks tired. It's not going to make them less tired, just more self-concious! Sad

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 19/12/2012 21:38

If I c

FrustratedSycamoreSnowflake · 19/12/2012 21:43

Oops wrong button Blush

If I continue to feel the way I do I'll be an exhausted whale. I've heard it's the in look for spring. Wink

I don't usually mind the wind, it's the cold and rain as well that I struggle with.

Are you feeling any better jojo?

Jojobells1986 · 19/12/2012 22:00

Not really! DH parked in a Sainsbury's car park which closes at 10.30 so he can't stay out too late! DS went to bed early & actually went to sleep quickly so I'm just moping on the sofa watching QI & feeling sorry for myself! Will have paracetamol & go to bed when DH comes home.

DS & I were looking at a photo album just before he went to bed. I pointed at a pic of my dad & said 'look, it's grandpa!' He immediately said 'ba-pah' & then repeated it several times while pointing at the picture. My dad's insuffer

bringonthetrumpets · 19/12/2012 22:02

My MIL is the WORST for telling me that I look tired too, Frus. It's probably around once a day when I'm around her (all of next week, horray!) and I'm running out of things to say back. Maybe I should start saying things like "happy birthday" or "happy easter to you!". I mean, how do you respond to comments like that?

Jojobells1986 · 19/12/2012 22:05

Oops, it seems posting too soon is catching! Wink

My dad's insufferable at the best of times so will not be told that he seems to be DS's first word! DS also says 'dadada' but only when we say it first & he never seems to associate it with DH like he did with the photo! It makes me a bit Sad - if it was anyone else we'd probably tell them but my dad would be bragging about it to random people in the streets for years & probably mocking me, saying that DS must love him most! Hmm

Jojobells1986 · 19/12/2012 22:11

Trumpets, how about: "Yes, actually, I am exhausted from being pregnant & looking after your grandchildren all day. Maybe you could take the children out for a day to give me a break?" Repeat every time she mentions it. Either she'll stop or you'll get lots of relaxation time! Wink

kittenskittenskittens · 20/12/2012 07:30

Oh Jojo how annoying, my dd first word was her cousin who she absolutely loves, my dsis wouldn't believe she said it until she heard it herself when she can round to see him, mummy has taken ages and she will call me when she's woken etc but make no mistake, I am definatly not her favourite, that space is firmly established with her nana nothing at all to do with the fact she gives into her every whim and let's her have biscuits and choc choc whenever she wants against my wishes!

Librarina · 21/12/2012 07:12

Hey Trumpets Welcome home, hope the flight was ok (with 2 kids, I think you're amazing!)

I've spent most of this week blowing my nose and poking my new little bump, it's definitely there now. I also tried to put my pram up and ended up crying. Jojo, I got the Bugaboo Cameleon but I don't think I'm clever enough to use it, I clearly need a simpler pram.

I had the excitement of the 16 week midwife appt yesterday, got to hear the babies heartbeat and record it on my phone. I also got told off for not having my flu jab yet, I've nothing against it, it's just I don't want it this week! Have any of you had it and did it give you any ill effects?

Hope everyone's feeling well....

kittenskittenskittens · 21/12/2012 08:18

Lib I too got the flu lecture, I too am put off by having flu/ cold symptoms, possible will have it but definatly not while I'm off next week with Xmas, just not risking it!
Mw told me there is no link but another mw at the hos for 12wk scan told me she always got cold symptoms a week later
