hi all, hope everyone is well..

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HopingCat · 06/04/2006 12:43

NJ - I would call doctor now. Your GP has to write to hospital telling them you are pg, and hospital then write to you with scan date. Maybe if you leave it longer to go to GP you won't get first scan til later. That is how it works round here anyway. But different NHS have different systems.

NatalieJane · 06/04/2006 12:45

Does it take 5/6 weeks for a scan date to come through? (Can't remember from last time!)

HopingCat · 06/04/2006 12:45

Not used the Johnsons stuff myself but do know other people who love it.

By the way, have you noticed that there is now a HopeCat on the Hoping for Positive thread. I'm considering changing my name so it's less confusing for people.

HopingCat · 06/04/2006 12:46

My scan date didn't come through! I rang antenatal unit direct today and they told me it's in 3 weeks time. GP wrote to them about 3 weeks ago, so that's 6 weeks to get a scan.

NatalieJane · 06/04/2006 12:48

Yes I did see... :)

I wouldn't worry about changing your name, we all know who you are!

I think I am going to be very brave and slap the body one on, and then just test the face one... somewhere!! Why is it that I know it is going to go wrong but I am still going to go and do it anyway?!!!

NatalieJane · 06/04/2006 12:51

Well, I suppose I will have to ring the doctors then. Thanks for letting me know!

HopingCat · 06/04/2006 12:52

If it does go wrong, when you walk in to your mum's house she will noticed the colour of your face rather than your belly! Then you will have a chance to tell her! Grin

NatalieJane · 06/04/2006 12:55

LMAO I hadn't thought of that!! Peachy has just reminded me that it builds up to a tan the more you use it so I guess it won't be so bad.... I hope!!

Well, wish me luck!!! LOL I am actually quite nervous of using it!!! LOL

fatbetty · 06/04/2006 13:01

Ha ha, I haven't used the Johnson's brand - but I think there was a thread on it not too long ago. I've used the Ambi-something one and I thought it was fairly good. It was a aerosol can and could spray it in any direction. Don't think it streaked too much.

I don't use the fake tan stuff hardly at all but have a funny story about the first time I used it. I was 12 and I used Este Lauder's brand when it first came out and it streaked so bad that all my friends said it looked like a dog had peed on my leg and stained!

harrogatemum · 06/04/2006 13:11

Hi ladies - thanks all for your best wishes. HOwever I dont have a scan until Tuesday so there is some time to wait yet..Sad.

I dont know if I put somewhere that I was having one today but if I did I'm sorry I made a mistake. They told me when I rang up that I have to wait 7-10 days from the date of the last one (and that was Sunday) so its Tuesday 11th. Its a horrible wait to have to wait even longer but I guess I have no option!

mygirllolipop · 06/04/2006 13:19

KJQ – no problem!
NJ – I waited for a bit too, but needed bloods done for hypothyroidism so couldn't wait too long. Had them done today as I’m at the clinic on Weds. Re fake tan. Moisturise first anyway because dry skin absorbs the most moisturiser and therefore more tan. I always moisturise before I fake tan, haven't done it in a while tho. It is true that it builds up slowly.
Harrogatemum – sorry for the mix up.

awayfromhome · 06/04/2006 13:54

Harrogatemum - sorry I thought it was today, fingers crossed for Tuesday xx

toadstool · 06/04/2006 14:29

Hi Mumsnetters, all the best to Harrogatemum for your scan. Got back from slopes with minimal embarrassment about wearing low slung skipants (turned out it was a family-friendly place so pretty much everyone was dressed oddly!). High altitude warnings are no joke - got serious nausea whenever I went above 3000 feet! UK regions' NHS differences are a pain - I'm in North Bristol and we get no routine dating scan, no nuchal scan (though they will do a blood test), so you're pretty much forced to go private before the amnio stage, if you're at all a worrier (which I am). My former GP told me he didn't approve of nuchals because 'if they were any good they'd be available on the NHS'. Er, hello?

NatalieJane · 06/04/2006 14:49

Sorry for the mix up Harrogate mum, will keep fingers crossed for Tuesday, I can't begin to imagine how you are coping right now :(

Have bitten the bullet and done the fake tan, I had a bit of a soak in the bath and then exfoliated then did it. Was quite surprised to see that the cream was white, had visions of dark brown melted chocolatey type syrum, LOL Keep expecting something amazing to happen... and I am stll waiting!!! LOL

Am just waitig a few minutes and will then ring the doctors :)

NatalieJane · 06/04/2006 15:31

Finally got through to the doctors just now, I have to go and see a nurse on Tuesday at 2 to get it confirmed, not sure why I can't just drop a sample in like everyone else has but there you go!!

Anyway main thing is, the ball is now rolling :)

And I am not orange... yet :o

Northerner · 06/04/2006 20:12

Evening all Smile

Hope you are OK Harrogatemum - sorry you have a bit longer to wait. Hope you are OK.

Toadstool - I'm in Harrogate and get the same as you. No dating scan or nuchal test (have to pay) only a scan at 18/20 weeks, which to me seems very late. Think I'll consider the nuchal one, buy dh says not to.

fatbetty · 07/04/2006 08:16

Ahhh, it's friday at last! Yeah!!

Does anyone know of somewhere that has cute Easter outfit for boys? Wanted to get something nice for my two but having trouble finding anything nice. Don't want to spend a fortune either.

mygirllolipop · 07/04/2006 08:26

Betty - I dunno about easter costumes but we're going to a fancy dress party for a five year old who's in love with lazytown so trying to get a lazy town costume!
Well we're off up north at 3, coming back on tues with mam then she's going anytime from fri-mon! Mam doesn't have good internet access so dunno how much I can post for a week. Harrogatemum I will check up on you see how you get on. Good luck everyone one.

fatbetty · 07/04/2006 08:36

Looking for more smart shirt and pants rather than fancy dress. Don't know where you can get a Lazy Town outfit. I suppose the internet.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2006 08:47

Lollipop we will be crossing paths, we are off down south to see my mum this evening :o

You can get Lazytown dress up outfits on eBay, but I have seen some of them go for silly money (£40+)

I like Adams for smart boys clothes, they are great in the wash (and most of the stuff tumble dries), and they are not badly priced either. :)

HopingCat · 07/04/2006 08:59

Morning everyone,
I've now got a scan date, 25th April, and am still trying not to tell work or friends til after scan, but I've now got a definite bump. How are other people coping with this? Are you all telling people earlier than me?

It could be me feeling paranoid I suppose. Other people probably don't notice how fat I look, but I still feel like there are some clothes that make me look bigger so I'm trying to avoid them.

NatalieJane · 07/04/2006 09:08

HC, I know exactly how you feel, I am now looking the same as I did at about 17 weeks last time, there is no hiding it except for facing people straight on or sitting down. I have already had the when are you due?' questions from strangers and from teachers/other mums at DS's nursery.

With going to my mums tonight, I am going to be acting really strange because we still want to try and keep it a secret till tomorrow, we shall see how far we get! DH reckons she will see as soon as I walk in, but hopefully she won't!

Oh BTW, just incase anyone was wondering, I am not orange or streaky! :o I am going to put another lot on today and then probably leave it for a couple of days.

fatbetty · 07/04/2006 09:16

I finally told a friend last night about being pg and it was so nice to be able to chat to somebody else about it (no offense to you guys!). I'm going to see my Mom next week and she is trying to source car seats and travel cots for my kids so I don't have to carry ours over. She mentioned the other day about buying a cot but it would be pointless as my ds2 would be out before you know it....hard to not say anything like - no, we'll get a lot of use from it.

NJ, glad to hear that you're not streaky! Do you feel darker?

twocatsonthebed · 07/04/2006 09:21

Hello everyone,

Toadstool - I'm in Somerset, and it's exactly the same here, no tests at all on the NHS. I'm definitely going for a nuchal scan, on account of being ancient - is anyone else?

NatalieJane · 07/04/2006 09:22

I know hat you mean Betty, I told my sister, who I am very close to, not long after we found out (I had to tell someone!!) and although she is very happy for us, I think I have triggered some feelings in her, she had a M/C a couple of years ago, the baby wasn't planned and they haven't tried for another, but I think she is thinking, 'what if...?' sort of thing, so it will be nice to talk to some one who hasn't got any barriers IYKWIM? I know that sounds really selfish, I don't mean it to be.

I do feel a bit darker, no where near as though I have a full blown tan, but I think with fake tan because it developes so slowly you can be blind to the orangeness and not see how bad it is, so I am taking it slowly!! One real plus though is that my skin is lovely and soft, it is a really good moisteriser :o
